Had to select this property as only pet friendly in the area. Room was clean, however this motel is very old and has not been refurbished/remodeled in a very long time. But then for a very low rate makes our rating good overall.
Also TV did not work and no one was available after 9 pm to help.

Nice place, crappy guests
Older building but clean, good service.
The only downside to staying in one of the most affordable places in town (like this one) is that you’re going to be around some lower-class people. Why are people talking loudly in the parking lot at midnight? Why are you walking around playing your music? I understand that these are normal behaviors in the trailer park or housing projects where you live.

Asked lady at deskbif we were in a safe area, she said we have cameras. There was a party above us that went on until 12:30am. Room had so much floor cleaner on floor that it would not dry. It was like ice skating.pillow cases are so old they are dinging. Sheets had cigarette burns straight through to tge plastic. As if they were not changed. The room had an old musty smell. A lot of shady stuff happening in the lot after dark.A total refund should be given back to me as the advertising was false. We did not feel safe.

I have never stayed at a hotel that was this nasty! Toliet literally had pubic hairs on the seat! Floors was disgusting and you could definitely tell they do not clean or disinfect anything in the rooms. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

I'm glad you forwarded this opportunity for me to leave my feedback on this property. I booked this hotel in May and prepaid. I arrived late Thursday evening after approximately a 5-hour drive. The first issue arrived when I noticed the six to eight people sitting outside on the sidewalk on their phone. As I tried to enter the building to check in the door was chained shut. I had to speak to your receptionist through a window in the wall. Well, once she finally put down her cell phone she was able to briefly speak to me. Like everyone else waiting outside apparently our reservations didn't exist. She seemed very annoyed that we were even there. It's not often you meet someone as rude as her. I had to then try to find another hotel on my own as I was not sleeping in my car. She said that was not her problem. From what I could see through the chain glass door the hotel was not very clean so I'm guessing this was a blessing in disguise. I had to drive from Martinsville Virginia clear to Greensboro North Carolina to find another hotel. I will never even consider staying at another Econo Lodge.

Very upset. The hotel was extremely dirty. It had old mattress tossed and laying in the parking lot. Laundry was being folded in the lobby. It was so bad and dirty we turned around and went home. Pictures Do NOT MATCH

this is not my first time staying here so I was very surprised at the conditions because I didn’t have these issues before. I booked a no smoking room however there was cigarette burn marks on the furniture and the blankets. The wall was peeling, several of my towels were dirty, the recliner chair was covered in stains and to top it off there was a roach crawling out the bathroom. Everything was extremely outdated. The ice machine room was disgusting and had dirt and black mold around it. There is old beds and furniture piled up in different places around the premises. I had to throughly disinfect my room before sleeping there. I had very few staff interactions which was fine. Every staff member I did speak to was respectful. it’s definitely the cheapest around and honestly I see why. You get what you pay for. Do not expect Hilton accommodations here.

Bugs that may have been bedbugs seen; cigarette butts throughout property; furniture and detritus scattered about property; dated; on positive side, breakfast was OK, staff was friendly, pool area looked good. I get impression they're trying to bring property back from being a dive, but still have a way to go.

I had problems with my booking, the room first reserved has the bathroom and bathtub dirty no clean linen and it wasn’t vacuumed. I was offered another room but was not vacuumed, I had to ask personally the housekeeping lady to provide me with clean towels, limited toilet paper and the walls and door in the bathroom is nasty it has black oil fingerprints all over. It’s not a family oriented hotel but more likely to construction workers and similar business men. I won’t come back to this motel ever!.

tv did not work. lamp bulb was burnt out. only had 1 wash cloth for 2 people. microwave had not been cleaned since the hotel was built. would not return. ladies at front were very nice and helpful. breakfast was good

Room smelled funny. Reserved a smoking room and was told there were no smoking rooms available. Remote did not work had to go to front desk for a different one. Pool was nice and clean.

A lot run done nd out dated The cable did not have local channels, some lights didn't work and there was alot of furniture stacked up in the parking lot. I guess i got what i paid for.

Property was very outdated. No ice machine in the building. Cigarette burns on the linens on both beds. Towels were questionably clean, they just seemed damp not crisp and dry like they should have been. Overall, the room was decently clean just really needs some updates and especially the bedding needs replaced. Room was very spacious which was nice.

We travel to visit family in this area and have not stayed with EconoLodge before. They accept pets for a fee, the room was clean, adequate no issues, check-in was easy, parking was plentiful. The only issue was the TV, I think it was a satellite TV connection but maybe it was digital either way it would freeze, go to a black screen or just didn't come in. Other than that, everything was good.

Do not stay at this Hotel… EVER!
Terrible experience. The front-desk receptionist was nice, however, there were holes in the sheets, the door would barely open and wouldn’t lock, and there was a used bar of soap in the bath tub. Several lights in the room wouldn’t work either. The place also reeked. It had the atmosphere of a tv-show murder site. We did not feel safe and left quickly after checking out our room. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

This is an older property that might be on the upswing, but they have work to do. We had a problem where the TV in our room would pixilate every 30 seconds or so, which made it unwatchable. The staff worked hard to get us to a room that did not have this problem, so kudos to them. The "continental breakfast" offered in the morning was a joke.

Blankets had cigarette burns in them. AC was spitting water onto the floor and one outlet did not work properly. Overall though it was clean, comfortable and an easy process to check in and out.

Great to be home.
The stay was great except for my room key not working the second day. This is my second stay of more than one night there and the same thing happened again. They said they fixed the problem this time. I will see in a couple of weeks when I stay again.

NEVER AGAIN
The hotel is so run down and unclean. There were bugs in the room, paint chipped off the wall, obvious pathetic attempts to cover cracks in the ceiling, the bathroom smelled like someone peed in the floor and behind the door looked like it, the bed was to hard and so high I almost had to use a stool to get into it but the sink and ironing board was so low my husband practically had to get on his knees. The breakfast they advertised was not what they showed in the pictures. The staff was friendly but throughout the night we were there there was a party in the parking lot til 3 am and no one put a stop to it. If we hadnt used outlr free night to stay there I would have been demanding my money back and leaving. Sleeping in my car would have been more comfortable.

The room was fine, clean and well stocked. Problem was with the bathroom. The shower curtain had mold and mildew all along the bottom. Plus the "hot"water really wasn't. It was more like warm then anything else. If you took a bath it would get hot. But If you tried to take a shower the water would be freezing cold and never get hot. Even after leaving it on for a few minutes.

Decent Hotel, nothing fancy. Had to book last minute and were able to get room late night. Desk clerk was friendly and efficient. Room was very dated but felt clean, beds were reasonably comfortable. Ac/heat is either on or off, no temp settings but for a quick nights stay we were happy

We needed a pet friendly place to stay so we didn’t have a lot of choices in the area. When we opened the door we had to let it air out because disinfectant was so strong..but it could have been worse. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable but I would suggest bringing your own pillows and towels. The quality of both were very poor..and not sure if it’s due to Covid or what but weren’t many towels available and they only cleaned the room every other day so we had to go ask for clean towels. Breakfast choices were horrible..we ended up getting something out. But for the price I guess you get what you pay for..all in all it was okay..wasn’t the best nor the worst place I’ve stayed.

Not the Typical EconoLodge Experience
Never again, I reserved this hotel for the guys going to Catfish Pond for an Autism fundraiser. Based on previous reviews I thought it would be a fairly nice place. None of the men had anything good to say about the cleanliness or comfort of the room. The phone call I received was we should have camped out instead.

Bedbugs= a big NOPE
At first appearance, our room was acceptable. When we turned the covers down and got into bed, there were bedbugs. All over the pillows matress and base of headboard. Nastiest feeling ever, and we had to find another place to stay. Dont make the same mistake we did. Dutch inn is cleaner quieter and the same price.

This hotel is not that well kept. It’s very dirty. Stains of something that looks like it’s been there for generations are all over the corner of the counter. The toilet did not flush. We have to used the ice bucket to flush the toilet. And what I was very upset about is that they advertise “FREE BREAKFAST “ but they don’t serve it. Using the Covid for a reason is valid, however, removing your signs and information of such should be remove also. That to me is a false advertisement.

We liked the spacious room. We also liked that we could bring our dog. Our dog does not get on furniture but we were happy to see easily washable bedcovers just in case other pets do.

Very disappointed this time!
Although the hotel is "dated," it has provided good value for the price. I'm usually comfortable in my say. Unfortunately this time, I had a king size bed that was sunken in the middle, and was probably the worst mattress I've slept on in my life. If I was the manager, would immediately take that room "out of service" until the bed could be replaced. Additionally the cable television connection was pretty bad. There were quite a few channels that had a lot of "snow" from a bad connection, and very few that were crystal clear. Breakfast was another disappointment from my previous stays. There were no eggs, bacon, sausage, or even yogurt. The only "hot" food they offered was sausage gravy and stale biscuits. I had a waffle and orange juice for breakfast. (Thank goodness for those "cook your own" waffle setups!!!!!) Not sure if this business is about to close their doors, or the management has changed for the worst. Even though it's cheap, recommend paying more to stay elsewhere.

Some late night noise from extended stay residents, asked for coffee didnt get it, breakfast you have to heat with a microwave. Door in bathroom looked like it had feces smeared on it...lack of attention to detail.

AC was missing a knob, lamps didn’t work, smelled strongly of smoke, cigarette burns in linens, hairs on the bed, saw a roach before checkout. We’ve stayed here for over 10 years and this is by far the worst it has ever been.

Location was great and the staff was nice. Unfortunately we were not able to use the pool it was very green and our non smoking room had obviously been smoked in. As soon as you walked into the room you could smell it. The breakfast the next morning was not anything to talk about. Egg and cheese omelets were located in the fridge so you had to warm them up in the microwave across the room. This area could use a little refreshing, very dated. Some fresh fruit would be a nice addition as well.
We used Martinsville as a half way point to Myrtle Beach. We will continue to stop in Martinsville but will look to stay else where.

We asked for a handicap room. The room was on the first floor, but was not handicap friendly. There were no rails at the toilet, which was shorter than average. There was no shower chair. I had to move furniture to get his wheelchair to the desk. Furthermore. the phone did not work, so we were unable to request wake-up calls.

The first room had a chirping smoke alarm--housekeeping knew it but check-in did not. Then I was moved to a room in which the fan in the AC broke and sounded like it was grinxing through the wall. It also had a giant cricket hopping about. The AC in the third room did not work properly and could not keep the room cool.

I don't know if it's the town or the property owner but this motel really freaked me out. A bug crawled in as my bride and I were trying to settle in for the night, causing me to hunt it down. Instead of finding it I found even more bugs.
I spoke to the polite person at the front desk, who kindly offered us another room. While no bugs crawled in that we were aware of, we were both a bit concerned and left as soon as we could the next day.
Normally Econolodge offers reasonable accommodations at a very fair price. While the price was fair, we were unsettled by what we deemed was the poor quality of our accommodations, even for a 'cheap' motel.
Perhaps it was just how that this was a hot summer day and bugs just love to be bugs. It could also be that Martinsville, Va is just one of those places where critters congregate too - we don't know and don't plan to visit again to find out.
Either way I hope the motel owner is made aware of this and takes what steps he can to make his hotel better. Econolodge is, like I said, usually offers reasonable accommodations at a reasonable price. In this case we only got the latter.

The air conditioner didn't cool the room to the right temperature and clicked on and off all night. The mattress sagged badly, and there was some sort of residue on the bathroom counter. The alarm clock next door went off for over an hour and no one was in that room. We called the office repeatedly to have someone turn it off, and no one answered. In addition, the breakfast was supposed to be "deluxe". No hard boiled eggs, no yogurt, no fruit, just dried on gravy and biscuits. We did not eat there. We will not stay there again. The only good thing was that the pet fee was reasonable.

I'll sleep in my car
The waste baskets had not been emptied before I arrived, there was a used coffee pack in the coffee maker, the alarm clock was sticky and didn't work and I can guess what the fresh stain on the sheet was. Thankfully I had a sleeping bag in my car. The girl at the front desk was very kind and helpful. She printed directions to the house I was to look at the next day since nobody has local maps.
