Good price for last min stay, not what expected
It was not great. We arrived late and were tired. No towels, the floors were dirty and the towels we got at the front desk we used to mop up the floor. No breakfast as listed in description, when we arrived it was blacked out in signage and the microwave was dirty and smelled. When we woke up in the morning after shaking down blankets before leaving to be sure we left anything behind, we noticed the sheets were RECENTLY stained, however NOT BY US!! I’m thinking now that the room was NOT CLEANED before we got it and that’s why there were no towels and the floors were dirty. We had driven all day, were not feeling well and were exhausted.
The hot water was scalding and the bathroom ceiling has mold growing on it and the room is water stained. There is a dehumidifier in it.

Comfortable but could be cleaner
The room smelled like it was a smoking or pet friendly room. Was non-smoking but there was a sign in the lobby that they welcomed service animals. What looked like pet hair was on the floor and behind a trash can. The bed was clean and comfortable. AC/Heat worked well.

This was my first time to the beach and the staff at the motel made us feel so welcome and at home, we even had our service animal with us and they even checked on him sweetest thing ever

They room as soon as you opened the door smelled like mold & must.
I spilt water on the and towel i used was black. Obviously the floors where not cleaned at all.
The blind on the window side frame fell off when we pulled the blind down.

It took 10 min. to wake the attendant to check in. The doors were unlocked, a tv was on & no one answered when we yelled or the phone rang, weird. At 6:00am we were awakened with a big falling on my husbands neck. We checked out, told the clerk & he just shrugged, no concern at all. Horrible service and price for this property.

As soon as you open the door to the room you were hit with smells like mold/mildew. It was so bad there was a dehumidifier in our room that we had to empty 4 times and we were only in the room maybe a total of 6 hours (and the majority of that was spent sleeping). There were roaches everywhere. But it was like 1 in the morning and we just figured we would tough it out for the night because we wouldn't be able to find another hotel. Then, when we go to leave we were checking the room over making sure we weren't leaving anything and we happened to move the bed covers back and there was mold on the sheets. MOLD on the sheets we JUST SLEPT ON. And not just mold, there was dirt or something else at the bottom of the bed. Like super dirty at the bottom of the bed. I'm just praying and trying to convince myself that noone else slept in that bed before we did. I knew this hotel wasn't going to be great but this was awful.

First and foremost, the floor of the room was dirty. As evidence when I got out of the shower and walked across the floor, I had to rewash my feet.
Upon check out, I was refused a receipt.
Otherwise, the appearance of the building externally, and the area around it looked in good condition.
I probably will not stay here again

Rude Customer Service and room wasn’t ready
I arrived earlier than the actual check in time so I went inside to see if they offered early check in, I stood at the front desk for half an hour waiting for someone to show up because nobody was at the desk. Someone staying there already came in and said nobody had been there this morning. The lady finally arrived and yelled “check in is at 3!” when I tried asking her. She was very rude. I came back at 3 to check in and it was a different lady, she was nice and gave me my room key. I went around to my room and it wasn’t cleaned yet, they were working on it. I didn’t get in my room till almost 4 PM. The internet service wasn’t working and the shower had no pressure, and I mean it just dribbled out. I usually stay here when I go to Orange Beach, but I won’t be back. It has gone down hill.

Horrible service
Coffee pot did not work in the room. And was told they was not going to make any in the lobby no continental breakfast when it shows online when I booked!!! no towels were in the room when we arrived and was told there was none available and every day we only got one towel for a total of four people in our room so thank goodness we had our own personal towels that we brought or we wouldn’t have anything to use the drawers on the dresser would not open and had to ask for help to get them to open and was told they were just jammed and I took out my own trash to the dumpster so the service was horrible

The first room they put us in was very dirty with clothes left on the floor and food wrappers in the room as well as trash all over the floor. Bonnie moved us to another room that was clean and told the clerk who was replacing her (shift change) to move us to the second room in the system. Midnight, somebody tries to come in our room. Fortunately we had the bar across the door or they would have been in with us. Five minutes later, the clerk is knocking on the door asking who we are and why we are in that room. They have no record of us being there. And they wanted to come in the room to talk to us. We talked through the door and told them what had happened and finally convinced them that a mistake had been made by the front desk by not moving us to the second room in the system. Finally got that all cleared up but we weren't able to get more clean towels during the whole stay until the last day we were there. Bonnie at the front desk was helpful when she was working but she was the only one.

I pre-booked a room through Hotels.com at the Red Roof Inn. After driving for 4+ hours the attendant at the desk proceeded to tell me I didn’t have a reservation. I provided him with my receipt and confirmation number and still did not have my issue resolved. He could not get in touch with the manager and would not give us our room that had clearly been paid for. Hotels.com promised me a refund since Red Roof Inn wouldn’t let us stay and neither company will issue a refund. This is the biggest SCAM! Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here no matter how inexpensive it is!

Scary, unlit parking, unable to read room numbers on 2nd floor, back of building.
Difficult for wife to access.
Large room, no carpeting so acoustics negated understanding audio on TV.
Request for alternate room rejected…”Sorry, can’t. This is the last and only room I can give you because of who you booked through”

Check in was at 3. We arrived at 4. Was told our room wouldn’t be ready until at least 5! THE YOUNG LADY WORKING THE DESK WAS HORRIBLY RUDE, I repeat, HORRIBLY RUDE! The floors in the room were NASTY. Could not walk around without shoes…the bottom of my feet were literally black after about 10 minutes. My husband and I would NOT recommend this motel to anyone!

The area was set back and secluded. Loved the natural setting and that it was away from the busy road. The pool was not busy and the staff was very friendly and kind. Our room floor was dirty and the area outside had garbage cans that were overflowing and they were not changed ever so a lot of overflow on the grounds. But the bed and linen were clean and we had a lot of fun!

Horrible location!!!
This location was awful! We stayed at one in New Orleans and it was great so I assumed we’d have the same experience at this one. Also I think they lied on these reviews because I saw 8/10 for this hotel and I can’t possibly see how. Their floors were so sticky u dare not walk barefoot. Their sheets and pillowcases had stains on them. Their pillows were like DG pillows and ridiculously flat!! No hair dryer. The shower head spit at you. The walls were grungy. I was sooooooo disappointed to the point I wanted my money back to find somewhere else.

Pleasantly surprised
So, it's very convenient to the beach and off the busy highway. The overall cleanliness, room decor and A/C unit were all excellent. Our room didn't have a remote control for the tv, and when I addressed the matter with the front desk clerk, she was not trained as to how to handle such a simple matter! She gave me one to try, no batteries in it, I had to go back. Second time around, she was annoyed at the situation, gave me a 2nd remote, it too didn't work. Third time around, she was just plain rude, which really didn't set well with me. I'm the one paying her salary and being inconvenienced, really? Least the 3rd remote worked! Front desk needs better training in how to work with the public. If you don't like working with the public, find a different job!

The floor was very dirty. We addressed it to the front desk for it to be mopped and it still wasn’t when we came back. Also, the sink seemed stopped up and took a while to drain the water out.

Floors were filthy and I asked housekeeper on first afternoon to have them cleaned. Never got cleaned and housekeeping didn’t come around until 4pm. My socks were BLACK! Several dogs always barking and one crapped on the upper walkway.

Arrived around 4:45pm and room was not ready. The lady behind the counter went out of her way to check and get our room. She was a most helpful desk clerk. You guys have an excellent employee in this beautiful person.
Would definely stay again and would recommend it.
Our stay was excellent except the buffet was not kept up.

Meh, it's Red Roof
For a Red Roof, the property wasn't too bad. Many are run down but this one is in reasonable condition on the outside and in the immediate area around it. Although it's near a major highway, it's surprisingly quiet, a plus. My room, however, was a more typical RRI. It was kind of shabby and the floor was disgusting. The towels and bedding were well worn, wifi was spotty and the frig lacked a freezer. I found someone''s used Q-tip on the floor in some greasy mess. The housekeep came by later and snagged it, a good thing, but left the mess.

Nice Budget Prooerty.
The room was huge and for the most part it was clean. A couple of insects but it is in the gulf. The pillows were flat but towels were nice. There was limited parking and the grass around the hotel was unkept and trashy. I had to go offsite to walk my dog. Overall I was satisfied and woild stay here again.

We have stayed at several Red Roofs before, and usually we have a very good experience. This one, not so much. We have children, and chose a non smoking room, but as soon as we walked in, it was clear the room had been smoked in heavily. It smelled awful. We didn't realize until the next morning housekeeping had not even noticed the previous guests had tied a plastic bag over the smoke detector. We had arrived very late and we were tired, and were only staying one night, so we just went to bed anyway. My oldest woke up with a nosebleed, I'm guessing from sleeping in a room full of stale cigarette smoke. Also, had a badly stained towel, which normally i wouldn't let bother me, but everything kind of had a grungy feel in our room. Told staff about the smell, my son's nosebleed, the towel, and the bag over the smoke detector the next morning when we checked out. I showed her pictures i took of the towel and the smoke detector, and she used her phone to take pictures of my phone, and i got a half hearted "sorry that happened" and she literally shrugged at me. Also, be aware there is no elevator at this property, so if you cannot do stairs, make sure to request a ground floor room. The woman who checked us in was very sweet, however. I also liked that the room had a mini fridge and hair dryer.

I was offered another room but I declined it. If
I was assigned room 208. Upon entering the room I noticed that the bed cover was stained. I pull the bed cover off to inspect the sheets and it also will stain and dirty. I know the difference between clean sheets and sheets that have been used. I was offered another room but I declined it. If the standard for cleaning that room is low what should the other rooms be any different.

The room was probably the worst I've ever stayed in. After seeing it, we tried to book somewhere else; I'm assuming since it was a holiday weekend, nothing was available within 30 minutes. Therefore, we had no other choice but to stay. The room had a strong urine and disinfectant smell. The humidity in the room was so bad, the bedding was actually damp. There was no weather proofing around the door; you could see outside through the cracks. So of course, there were bugs in the room. The bedding was stained, all of the lamp shades were stained and molded, and the chair should have been put in the trash. The smoke detector was hanging off of the wall. The toilet was cracked in several places, and leaked. The floors were so dirty that we bought flip flops to wear in the room. The housekeeping was way below standards; there was hair in the shower, and the sink was black in spots with mold. There was 1 towel, 2 wash cloths, and 2 hands towels provided for our family of 4, and they were stained as well (we went and bought more towels at Walmart). No toiletries were provided other than a small hand soap. The continental breakfast consisted of juice, apples, stale muffins, and generic fruit loops and old milk.

Not worth the money
The room have a awful order to it, you have to empty humidifier in room several times a day, lamp shades had huge stains all over them. The chairs in the room were actually falling apart and one had half the leather already peeled off. Between hearing the dog barking and I guess people parting above us we got very little sleep. We will not be staying there again.

Needs a better cleaner
The price was good but for the price little things should be checked. I like the idea of being able to pay cash that was a plus and not having to leave a card for incidentals. There was a chair in the room that clearly needs to be taken out and replaced. It's no reason this chair should have been in the room peeling like that. Also it was what looked like blood stains on the wall, and shower curtain. That could have simply been wiped clean before I got there. There was also a small smear on the bathroom door of what looked like feces or mud. Last it was a small roach in the bathroom.

Liked the room and service from the staff. Enjoyed having the dehumidifier due to the humid climate ind Gulf Shores. The staff didn't make some effort to contact the family with running children upstairs but probably could have done more.

Our room was super humid. Everything was wet. Mirror, TV screen,tables, bedding etc..There was bugs all over from not having weather stripping around the front door. The bedding was stained, stains on the walls, think there was poop stains on the shower curtain. The room came with one bath towel and one hand towel and half roll of toilet paper from previous people. Bed was hard as a rock and sloped toward headboard. Pillows was really wore out and super flat. For some reason our room had a nasty old wore out chair in it. Looked like it came from a dumpster.The covering was all cracked and looked really bad. Not sure why they would want that thing in any room. I’ll never stay at this place again. Been better off sleeping in my car.

Adequate Accommodations - stayed 2 nights- bed was comfortable and the bedding was nice, pillows were not great but ok. Room was clean but did see a tiny roach on the sink. The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful.

The place was digusting. The floors was gross. Within the 3 days my family and i stayed the floors stayed dirty. They never swept or mopped. I literally had to go buy a broom to sweep everyday. Room services would come make our beds everyday while we was gone but never sweep or mop.

Well. I tried to handle this matter in house. Meaning privately with Red Roof but they didn’t have the decency to email me back. I want to start off by saying that the staff was very friendly and that was never a problem. When we entered our first room it was tidy, and clean. However our TV didn’t work. Unfortunately when we entered the bathroom in our room there was baby roaches crawling up the ceiling. We had maintenance come by. He took our tv off the wall. As soon as he took our TV off the wall big adult roaches started to crawl out from under it. So once he left we pulled the dresser away from the wall and there was at least 20 plus adult roaches hanging out behind the dresser!! We went to the front desk and pretty much asked for a different room or a refund. They were able to give us a different room. Once in the second room we had only found 2 roaches. And let’s be honest 2 seems much better than 20. I was not comfortable leaving any of my stuff in there because I didn’t want stowaways to coke home with me. So we got our new room keys changed into our beach clothes and left. When we got back from the beach that’s when we started to noticed more roaches. There was baby roaches EVERYWHERE! By this time every hotel was either booked or way too expensive for one night so unfortunately we had to suck it up. Getting ready for bed the second night I pulled back the covers and there was a roach crawling across the sheets and onto the head frame. I will never stay here again.

Softball mom here. This place was great. The only downfall was no kitchen area. It did have a microwave and a small refrigerator. We stayed almost a week and we made it work. It is close to gulf shores sportsplex and about 15-20 min from orange beach sports complex. Everything you need , beach, grocery store and laundry facility was within a 15 min drive. Pool was clean and staff was friendly. Beds were small but they were clean. The breakfast choices are very very slim so it might be better get something else.

The smell in the bathroom was horribly. We had them to mop, but that didn't change it. There were roaches in the rooms. The chairs in the rooms were so bad we had to cover them with sheets in order to sit in them. The linen was spotted and had little lit balls on it. We had at least 12 to 14 rooms and several of our family members left and went to another hotel. It was the worst stay I've ever had. The people there did their best but the place needs renovating. It was traumatizing to my entire family, and we will never stay there again.
