New Years stay
We stayed just one night heading south on New Years eve. Chose it for the convenience to 81 and the larger than usual room. Well run, clean, easy on/off and lots nearby in the way of stores and restaurants. Room was nicely done.

Bad Experience
Our first room was nice but the toilet was clogged. We were moved across the hall and that room just wasn't clean. There were nail clippings on the floor next to the bed, dog hair on the couch, hair on the bathroom floor, the kitchen floor was sticky, dust on the shelves and headboard.. it needs a deep cleaning. I found out in the morning that the shower drain was also clogged. I notified the front desk and was told they will comp my room. It was my rewards night so I'm not sure how that will work or if it will even happen, I still haven't heard from the manager and don't feel I was taken seriously. The room was free but I'm disappointed that the night I earned was wasted on a bad experience. The hallways could use a good cleaning too. I didn't take advantage of the free breakfast or use the pool, staying in a room that dirty just ruined the whole experience for me. This hotel was rated high, that's why I stayed there. I'm not sure why a place with such low standards would have such a high rating. I travel often and this was definitely one of the worst experiences I have ever had.

The property was great. The amount of noise and pets made the stay a little less pleasant. Kids where running up and down the halls and banging on our door. The guest over our heads kept running and jumping. Pool was virtually a no go because the kids were all in the pool and hot tube. We had to complain several times about the noise and on our last night had to be moved.

Our stay this year was fine. Overall, I like the accommodations. Spacious room with a full size fridge is awesome. However, the bathtub cleanliness was disappointing. The bathtub had a stain in it and the shower curtain liner had mildew. I was also disappointed in the lack of JMU spirit for Family Weekend. Last year, the lobby and staff were lively and festive and decked out in JMU colors. This year, although the clerks wore JMU t-shirts, the lobby had none of the hoopla of the year before.

All areas of motel were clean and staff was friendly and helpful. Kitchen was well supplied with dishes.
AC was set at 65; entire motel was cold. Complimentary breakfast used a lot of packaging e.g. plastic wrapped pastries & waffles and pints of milk instead of a carafe. We were told staff would not clean room/ replace linens unless asked, but they serviced our room w/o request including running the dishwasher which contained only a few clean dishes.

Lovely space. Right off Highway. We arrived in the evening and the front desk gentleman was dealing with numerous guest questions at one time. He was very attentive to each guest. He could have used a coworker but staffing is an issue these days so we were patient. He was awesome.

Check in woes!!
They were not ready for a large group.. A softball team checked in the same day and my room wasn't ready until well after 5pm. The catch phrase was a " we're sorry, wait one sec" for three hours!!! I guess they were short staffed, but after that everything else seemed to be adequate.

The rooms and common areas were tired. It was not very clean. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Room keys didn’t work there just THREE times I was given them upon check in. Breakfast was revive both days I tried it.

Initially our fireplace did not work for the first 2 days of our stay but the engineer, william, made every effort to correct the problem and did. This was important for us because this was our first outing since the pandemic started and we wanted it to be special ❤. The front desk staff and housekkeping could not have been more pleasant and customer service oriented. We hopefully will be Back.

Overall a nice stay
Overall a really nice hotel. My only complaint was that we needed to use the pullout couch, but there were no sheets. We called and 30 minutes later went to the desk where they said they had no pillows and gave us just 1 single sheet - so no covers. That was disappointing.
It was quiet and breakfast was nice.

I booked a King bed and studio. I was told because of using a third party for reservations I’m not guaranteed a king. The pullout couch had springs sticking in my son’s back. He recently had surgery so it was an uncomfortable night! I asked for a different room and was told they were full. For the money and being a Marriott it was totally disappointing! I let the manager know and he said he would pass it on. Sure...

Stayed overnight prior to JMU tour. Entire hotel smelled like wet dog, elevators were horrible. Room set up was nice as we have a king in the bedroom and pull out sofa for kids with small kitchen. Cleanliness of room was just ok, you could tell bathroom had not been scoured. We had to go downstairs to front desk for towels. Definitely not like any other Marriott experience we have had. Would not stay again.

Very good hotel, everything is clean and new. Negative things: very thin walls and you can hear people snoring in the next room, hot tub didn’t work (perhaps due to covid), housekeeping is upon request only.
Also, they check you credit cards, as they double charged me for my stay. When I asked why, they said it’s just an authorization and it will go away once I check out, nothing went away and charges got posted to my account.

Not fully cleaned?
We arrived to the hotel and check in was simple. When we got to the room my son found someone’s cap to their drink on the floor and handed it to me. There was hair on the sheets on one side of the bed. I went to get the spare blanket down from the closet because it was a bit cold and it was crumpled up with hair on it too. The couch also had some discoloration on it. I wasn’t sure what it was so we avoided sitting there. The room would have been excellent if not for these few issues.

Good, but could've been better
The room was laid out weird, you could not open the bathroom door if someone was at the sink. The HVAC system was old and dated. The housekeeper spoke absolutely no English. Also, the women at the front desk had a terrible attitude. On the positive side, the room and lobby were very clean. The hotel was located around multiple places of interest and diverse culinary establishments.

Nice rooms, but crowded gym and pool, even during this pandemic, with no convenient time for lap swimming. Adult health conscious guests would prefer to swim in the morning, before checkout time. I chose the hotel in a large part due to the existence of a pool, but was unable to use it.

Get a better COVID-food solution.
Breakfast was upsetting. HATED having staff serve us from a window. Felt judged and embarrassed. I know...COVID.... You should just go continental with individually wrapped stuff, maybe wrapped breakfast sandwiches or pancakes you can take back and microwave. But waiting for them to serve you like that is horrible. Enough to make an otherwise nice stay under the circumstances terrible. It’s traumatic for people who grew up with abusive parents over food. Won’t come back.

The hotel was oversold when we arrived but Amanda, the manager, did her very best to ensure we were well taken care of. Very pet-friendly hotel. Close to skiing abs the highway with plenty of restaurants and shops close by. Highly recommend it!

Clean rooms very friendly staff. Always had bottled water available. Breakfast was terrible. COLD. had to ask for everything. May I have a plate for my eggs please. Now a napkin. And a knife and fork please. On it went with juice etc etc. that was just a laziness issue with one employee. I understand the need for plastic eggs and sausage but at least make it hot!!

Best Kept Secret in Harrisonburg VA
Our stay was amazing with a slight nuisance. The furnace in room 107 was too loud and woke us 2X. The Staff was awesome (Angela, Angela C., Arlette) from entrance to exit, as was house keeping (Randy) and maintenance (William).

Visit to Daughter at JMU
So happy to have a pleasant place to stay when we went up to visit our daughter. The rooms were really nice and comfortable. I didn't have a chance to check out the outside common patio or indoor pool but they looked very inviting!

My check-in was great with Angela. She was super nice and answered any questions I had about local attractions. I will say that I think the bedding needs an upgrade. The sheets and “comforter”, if you want to call it that, could be of better quality. The entire room was great, but higher end bedding would make it amazing.

Double the cost of the room. Due to a bichon
Made the reservation thru hitels.com. Found a pet friendly room since traveling with our 14 year old bichon. Upon check in we were notified of the cost for the dog. Our cost went from $145 for the room to $275. $130 for our dog to sleep in our room. We didnt get a bed for the dog. We didnt get breakfast for the dog. No one walked our dog. That was simply for the pleasure of having our dog sleep in our room. I will NEVER USE THIS HOTEL CHAIN AGAIN.

Didn't follow COVID-19 guidance

Great family vacation at dog-friendly hotel
Great family vacation at pet-friendly hotel (nice to not have to kennel the dog to visit our son). Price (especially for a suite with a separate bedroom), location, amenities and customer service were all exceptional. Breakfast was very good. Only suggestion would be coffee availability after breakfast (but there were plenty of places to get coffee nearby).

The check-in process was a little strange. Upon checking in the clerk asked if my reservation was made through Expedia. After confirming this, he said our room type was sold out and asked if I would consider a different room type. After pointing to my toddler and stating we needed privacy and that was the reason we booked the one bedroom suite, he called a manager over to help. She immediately pointed to an open room on the screen and stated we could have that one. The room wasn't the best cleaned room but we were tired from traveling so we accepted that. Also wasn't super happy with being the room beside the stairs with a toddler. We wouldn't stay here again after seeing the other options in the area.

All was great, but their manager reception could have a had a little something to chew on besides just dips. Breakfast was good, but again it lacked some variety in meat section - we are not fans of turkey sausages or turkey bacon. Given it is a higher end hotel - one of the hotels that we often choose - could be a little bit more generous. Otherwise, super fantastic.
