Best budget stay
By far, the best stay for us in Champagne. Our room was clean, fully stocked with utensils and plates in the Kitchenette room. At check in, the front desk person offered free hotel points or a free snack and drink for each guest which was nice. Easy drive to university as well. Will select this again. Note: we got confused by two thermosats in our room. Use the one on the wall.

Property is fairly run down. Our room was clean but only as clean as an aging property can be. Multiple holes in the wall through the hallway. A hole/soft spot in the floor in the 3rd floor hallway. Property could definitely use significant improvements. Great location though!

Candlewood is great!! The rooms are clean and the property well maintained. Room rates are very reasonable.

This is a nice place. Very helpful and friendly staff. This place needs some funds to make it look nicer. It has good bones. The screens are in dire need of replacement. Most have huge holes in them. It makes it look tacky. Some inexpensive cosmetic things inside could be done, like paint touch up in hallways. Your staff is excellent.

The room was fine other thank the horrible smell of chemical cleaning smells. Seems maybe guest smoke in the rooms and then they just douse the rooms with some horribly strong and pungent spray to mask it. Was not a good experience at all and I recommend enforcing your non-smoking policy and if you can not, then make the customers provide a credit card, check the rooms afterwards and then charge the hell out of their cards! for breaking the rules.

Large laundry room with several washers and driers. The room was spacious and clean.The passkey entry on the door from the side parking lot didn't work. Supposedly waiting close to a month to be fixed. Overall good for a overnight stay.

The hotel's premises are under construction, and my room was outdated and in rough shape. The curtains didn't fully close to keep out the very bright parking lot lights.

Would of liked to be told this hotel does not accept cash for rooms or anything else. Made reservation with card and was planning to pay cash when we arrived. 6 hours from home with cash to pay. There should be a notification when reserving room of this policy

We had a very good stay and appreciated having our own little kitchen. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. The only thing that could be improved was the cooling system which we couldn’t seem to adjust and it was a little stuffy in the room. Opening the window helped and we slept fine.

We were told when we got there that they overbooked their hotel and since we booked through Expedia, we were not allowed to stay and had to get a refund from Expedia. Their own hotel website still showed they have rooms available even after they told us we couldn’t stay. It appears this hotel did have rooms available but did not want us to stay because we booked through Expedia. If you choose to book here don’t be surprised if you don’t have a room when you show up.

Poor lighting.
Our stay was fine except the desk lamp didn’t work. When I went to read in bed I found that my side night stand lamp didn’t work either. Disappointed.

Did not have the room we requested and booked through Expedia. Did not even have a room with a king bed (which we booked). Brought in a double bed for our third person and did not leave linens or make it up for us. Hallways were very dirty and the floor squished and sunk in spots.

My family and I stayed 1 night and found the staff to be very friendly, and the room spacious and clean. I didn't like that I couldn't draw the heavier curtains over the window; the sheer curtains were all that covered the window. The heavier curtains were decorative and only covered the sides of the window. It let in a lot of light from a street light and the early morning sun, making sleep difficult without a sleep mask. However, the beds and pillows were really comfortable! It was also really easy to get to from the interstate, and was close to restaurants and shopping.

To start with, my bathroom faucet was a weak stream of water. No pressure at all. I was brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink. I complained to the desk and was told maintenance wasn't available on the weekends....this problem didn't occur overnight.
My room was not cleaned. I would have been fine with this had I been told in advance but guests should be warned.
I had to park in the hotel parking lot next door. There's not even close to enough parking for the hotel.
My room key didn't work and I had it reprogammed and it still didn't work. Last thing I want to do at midnight.
Overall, very outdated and dingy.

The hotel had a lot of things that were not working. The dishwasher in the kitchen of the room was broken at the time of stay. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was very low and not running properly. The toilet also did not flush properly and was constantly running after using it. The vent for the heater made noise all night and there was no water for about 30 minutes the next morning. One of the phones for the front desk also did not work. We were also disappointed there was no pool here and no complimentary breakfast.

The hotel seems to be getting ready to undergo a renovation which it does need. While the room it self was very clean, it was outdated. I will take cleanliness over “updated” any day. Unfortunately my biggest issue was that when I walked through the front door to check in I was overcome with the smell of cleaning supplies. The kind of scent that makes you feel concerned that they are trying to cover something up. I couldn’t get that out of my head. Friendly staff, comfortable accommodations. Not sure I would stay again unless I had no other choice. I hope once the reno takes place all the kinks will be worked out. It is in a very nice location and has potential!

One night stay
It did appear the hotel was getting some upgrades but that wasn’t really an issue. The hotel staff mentioned the elevator had a bit of a jolt when you got into it and they weren’t joking, so if anyone has issues with that may want to take the stairs until they get that under control. But overall room was comfortable and spacious. Hotel was clean and safe from what I could tell. Hotel is close to dining and entertainment so if you’re looking for that this would be a great choice.

Worst hotel I have ever been in. Room looked like it got flooded. Smelled musty and moldy. Stains on the carpet and ceiling as well as on the bedskirts and comforters. Elevator sounded like a freight train. Gnats coming out of the sink. Showe head looked like it got yanked from the wall..the wall has visible holes. I think it needs to be demolished..may be cost effective than renovating this place.

The hotel accommodations were not up to standards for the cost of the room. The air conditioner was not working properly, the phone in the room did not work. There was a ironing board but no iron. The front desk had housekeeper bring an iron that did not work. The tub was not clean. The tv in the bedroom was small you can barely see the screen.

The property didnot honor the reservation and turned down saying property is fully booked what a nightmare. The hotel.com agent was not helpful in finding another property. I was left scrambling for a place to stay for the night. Very stressful and no help either from hotels.com or the property

Candlewood has it all
Clean, spacious rooms, excellent price, well lit on-site parking, ALOT of choices for shopping and eating.
But the main reason we stay at the Candlewood is the STAFF. Everyone is professional, friendly, and accommodating to our questions and requests. For medical reasons, we prefer a room on the first floor. Sometimes I forget to call and make that request until hours before I'm going to check in. Despite this, the staff always finds a way to grant this request.
I wish I knew the names of everyone that works at Candlewood to include in this review.
THEY ALL DESERVE RECOGNITION FOR THE GREAT JOB THEY ARE DOING.
I want to acknowledge Cindy, quite often she's working during our stay. Cindy is great!!
She is the type of employee all businesses want to hire.
I highly recommend Candlewood hotel!!

The room was a good size, but needed an overhaul. AND the A/C was not working!!!! We had nowhere else to go and we’re stuck with the $350/night bill and no working A/C!!! Would not recommend to anyone or stay there again.

We were in the area for a weekend stay. It was myself, my husband and 2 young children. We were very happy with the accommodations. The room was very clean. It even had a nice clean smell when we arrived. The kitchenette was well stocked with utensils and cookware. When staying at a similar location in the area I found myself running out to buy basic cooking supplies (a pot and a knife). All of the staff I interacted with was very friendly. There are even games and dvd's available to entertain the kids. The hotel is conveniently located near shopping and dining. I was very pleased and will definitly stay again.

Room smelled like lunch meat and did not seem to be very clean. The bed felt like I was sleeping on plywood, springs, and pillow stuffing. The experience was so bad I got out of there and went to another hotel. Would never stay there again.

The kitchen was well stocked, clean and nice. The beds and pillows were new and very comfortable. The downside is that the staff are not friendly. The parking lot is very small and there seemed to be a lot of truckers who stop there for the night so they took up a lot of the parking.

The room was a decent size and did have a full kitchen available but we did not need it or use it. The room had hair in the nightstand drawer. When packing up, we checked under the bed to make sure we didn't lose something and there was fast food trash, containers. It made me sick. Those had been there the whole time. Gross! They did not give us new towels for our 2nd day stay which might be a covid thing. We will not be back!

I appreciated having a full size refrigerator with an ice maker and was surprised there was a garbage disposal in our room. The room itself seemed a bit “worn”, (the TV was crooked, had to plug in and set the time on the clock) and walking through the 2nd floor hallway there were spots where the floor dipped or felt as though the subfloor was maybe rotted. I also heard some of the “long term” guests discussing how the management refused to turn on the a/c in the 2nd floor hallway (it was noticeably warm/stuffy) and would only open the windows at either end for a breeze/air circulation. The complimentary coffee in the lobby was good, but overall I’d expect better conditions when paying over $100/night.

We arrived at the hotel and were given our room key. When we opened the door to the room there was already a guest in that room. Went back to the office and they had no idea who would be in the room. They have a policy that they perform housekeeping every 7 days. That would be fine if they would stock everything on the day they do the housecleaning. We ran out of shampoo and soap. I went down to the e desk to get more and they made me feel like I was a bother. The room was very old with big stains on the carpet. There are many hotel choices in that immediate area - recommend looking at those.

Unfortunately I can’t give a great review. We got into our hotel at 10:30 PM had reservations, also had my paperwork showing my reservations that I requested two beds.. We had to settle for one bed that night. It was myself, my husband and 12 year old son. We checked out the next night. I was just to tired to find another Hotel that night. They gave us a small discount and act like it was no big deal. I was very disappointed.

Disappointing Stay
We’ve stayed here before and had a great experience but this time the room was filthy and really run down. The appliances were dirty, the fridge didn’t cool, the counters and chairs had food all over them and the toilet was broken. It was quite disappointing to stay here, especially during a pandemic when cleanliness should be of utmost importance.

Meh. It was ok but far from great. I get that covid has caused changes but to still advertise free breakfast on your website but then to not offer anything except for the ability to BUY stuff from the pantry is wrong.
Also, I called the front desk and asked if there was an ice machine on the second floor, the lady at the front desk said “yeah, I think so. I mean it seems like there should be but I guess I don’t really know”. There wasn’t one. In the end, there were lots of other options around and next time we will use another option.

Disappointed in Candlewood.
No one came to clean the room. We were very disappointed after we came back in the afternoon. The beds weren’t made, the trash wasn’t emptied. There were no clean linens, coffee packets, or new bars of soap.
I asked the desk why housekeeping didn’t come. She said for extended stay they only come ONCE A WEEK!
Only coffee was included in the price (which you had to keep asking for every time you wanted more). Everything else you had to buy. Breakfast of course, was not included.
This was the first time in eight years my husband and I had a getaway. We were very disappointed.
