There was many things in the room that needed fixing - walk-in shower in the handicapped bathroom was juried rigged and was not able to have the shower o your body without holding the shower head. Screw on the door hinges was coming out and HVAC system did not work properly. This is not what I expect for a Microtel - I have stayed at other Microtel in several states and this is the worst one I have ever stayed in.

VERY NOISY! Called the front desk to explain I had to work super early! Idk if they called because those herds of buffalo next door to me made noise ALL NIGHT!

Another Solid Microtel Stay
Microtel is always a solid stay for us. The hotel is clean, pet-friendly, comfortable, and competitively priced with a decent breakfast included. It is conveniently located right off I-81 but you won’t hear the noise from the highway. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. This past stay, we were given a room with a handicapped shower (not sure why?), and it was a bit of a less comfortable shower. The breakfast room ran out of eggs before 8 am … Otherwise, it was fine.

The room was cozy, and that’s hard to find in hotels. There was a window seat that was padded with cushions and wide enough area to actually sit up there to relax and stretch out our legs. The only complaint was there was no bottled water on our floor or at the front desk. We had to go floor to floor to find a machine that had bottled water. And the elevator was slow, so took about 20 minutes just to get water.

I loved the room as a whole; however, we paid a good amount for 2 reasons; one being breakfast included and the second being a jacuzzi tub in the room. We were hoping for a large jacuzzi tub that was long enough for each of us to sit in it together and stretch out; however, my husband was not able to stretch-out completely from any angle. :( The breakfast was good; but I do wish they included orange juice. :)

Very disappointing. Our room wreaked of cigarettes, and they were unable to move us. The cleaning staff should have made some attempt to remove the smelll, but it was so strong it was obvious they did nothing when turning the room over.

Overall bad experience
Was an okay experience, they didn’t have a room available upon check in, so I had to wait 30 min to an hour. Also, they have not given me back my deposit which was a hundred dollars and it doesn’t seem to be pending back into my account, it looks like they took it out.

I just stayed one night but I was greeted by a friendly person at registration, checked in quickly and found the room clean and comfortable. There was some road noise but I never travel without ear plugs. I got a good nights sleep and had a good breakfast. It was better than the food at other places I have stayed recently. I was completely satisfied with my stay and will certainly return when I’m in the area.

The staff were excellent. Breakfast: the water was not hot for the tea, bread was not good and there was no other choice except muffins ( not everybody like muffins!).
There was no decent dining place around.
Air conditioning was noisy. Bathtub was damaged.

It was very clean and the breakfast was good. The staff was great while we were there. Then we realized that we had left a watch in our room. The staff had to search the room twice to find it. It had fallen behind the bed.. I am very pleased and impressed that they were so kind to keep looking until they found it. This kind of customer care is rare. Our thanks to the staff for helping us.

The facility is great location easy access to things we visited. The hotel is great though it would be nice if juice and water added in the buffet. Our stay was disappointing when we were awakened by our next door neighbor 207 on 10/07/2023. They were loud past midnight entering their room. Hard to go back to sleep for more than an hour until I called the desk then finally they were quiet. People have no consideration that they are not in their house and others just want to relax and have a quiet night sleeping on a comfortable bed.

The Inn was nice. It's located in a busy area, we could hear the tractor trailers and other traffic noise all day and night. I liked the idea of having windows that could open for fresh air but it was too noisy. The breakfast (sausage gravy and biscuits) was cold the second morning.

Good stay for low budget.
The hotel is good for the price. It appears to be doing a renovation which will be good to refresh it a bit (compared to the newer hotels nearby). The only thing for me was that the walls were very thin and we could hear a lot of what was going on in other rooms or the hallway. One night we had to ask security to come up to ask the person next door to turn off the TV that was blaring. My keys kept deactivating also, which was frustrating, but overall a good stay for a low budget.

I got to the hotel after the JMU football game to check in and the two people at the front desk looked like they had seen a ghost when I said my name. After a fun game of “could the room be under another name” I showed them the Orbitz email-ironically it was asking how my check in went-they had given my room away! They allegedly called me -I asked at what number was given a strange phone number. The young lady had the nerve to be rude and ask if she was supposed to telepathically know my number. No apology or explanation. I was extremely lucky to find a lovely room at the Hampton Inn South on a football weekend.

We were greeted by Julie who did a terrific job of making us feel welcome. I suffer from a severe anxiety condition and frankly, this is the quietest hotel stay I ever remember (and I've had a lot of hotel stays in my 60 years). They also welcomed a visit from my son and his family. The pool was fun --- crystal clear, very clean, very quiet and enjoyable. Thanks, Microtel, for a great stay!
