Wonderful Time
I didn't want to leave! Everything was off the charts marvelous! The room, staff, food, workout area (except the smell of the steam room) but I wasn't sleeping in it. Extra stars for Melissa Long for giving us great places.

The room was great, the beds were comfy and the view was awesome. We enjoyed the gym, spa, shopping and food without going out into the super cold weather. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The perfect staycation!

We had an incredible stay- we are already planning on Christmas 2024 Chicago ritz, and are telling everyone about the magical experience. Everyone was so nice to the kids . Special shoutout to Jorge at the restaurant with his balloon animals - a highlight

Terrible experience. I have stayed at many Ritz Carleton properties. This Chicago location was very disappointing. The staff are rude, aloof and disorganized. Upon arrival the door man doesn’t even open the front door. Restaurant staff are rude and take forever to serve you. Upon check out I didn’t even get asked how my stay was. In addition, the cleaning staff knocks on your door way prior to check out demanding when we are leaving. The spa is a disaster. I had booked services for myself and my mom and when we arrive they are telling us someone cancelled our reservation. After 20 mins of back and forth finally I said we are leaving then she says “oh I was mistaken.” I found your services. What kind of Ritz Carlton is this? They could learn a lot from the Ritz Carlton in Toronto. This would never have taken place in Toronto.

Hotel and staff were great. My only complaint is that the room was hot even when we turned the thermostat down to 68. I am sure it had to do with the changing seasons...not really a complaint. Bed and linens super comfortable. Shower had great water pressure, hot. Would definitely stay again

I specifically reserved a Handicapped Accessible room. Instead I was given a regular room, which was also very far from the elevator. Because we checked in rather late at night, I did not notice the lack of handicapped facilities until the next morning; and I was just too exhausted to move rooms, since I had already unpacked. I felt very uncomfortable using the bathroom without the grab bars that were promised. I don't understand how an oversight like this can occur.

I have stayed in all kinds of hotels from Motel 6 to the Waldorf Astoria New York. I hesitated staying at Ritz because of the stigma of being "Ritzy". I was very disappointed that my room was not at all "Ritzy" On the contrary it was ordinary. Ordinary as compared to a Holiday Inn. Biggest complaint was the fact that there was no closet space, no drawers, and no place in the bathroom to put anything away. I stayed for over a week and wanted to unpack. I had to live out of my suitcase. I saw signs that you had "redefined luxury". I agree, you changed the feeling of luxury to ordinary. When I visited the Ritz in Chicago for a drink many years ago, I thought it was beautiful. Now, I must again use the word "ordinary". I won't be staying with you again. I can get ordinary anywhere.

Overall the experience was good. Concierge and reception staff were good but not GREAT. Maybe they were new or busy but hospitality could have been much more professional and attentive. Service was similar to any other nice hotel and was not the Ritz experience that you would expect.

Wrong name.
Only complaint is the name ties to the room and Wi-Fi was not ours. While I mentioned this at check in it was ignored and not changed. Otherwise a fantastic experience.

Doesn’t seem 5 star
When I stay at a five-star hotel, I want to feel like I’m staying at a five-star hotel. Rooms are clean and beautiful. Everyone was so nice but there were definitely annoyances with service.
1. They brought us a cheese and sausage platter when noone in the room so by the time we got back from shopping it was warm. We had to call the front desk and they needed to perform an investigation before we could be sent a new one 2. I needed a fridge for my breastmilk and pump. I had to call two times because after four hours the refrigerator never came 3. Although there is a thermostat you can control in the room, you actually really can’t control it. It is motion detected so if you’re not in the room or if you are in the bathroom, you’re watching TV or sleeping it’s going to default to 68. I expect more from a 5 star hotel. If they can charge you like a five star hotel… 550$/ night, 19% room service fee, 7.50$ delivery fee they should accommodate you.

OK - but not as good as its competitors
The property is nice but not outstanding. Overall, the decor is a bit dated and the service is just OK. For example, the check in took longer than expected, the breakfast service was a bit slow, etc. more specifically, one evening we asked the front desk to make arrangements with the concierge for some activities the following day. To our surprise, according to the concierge (Melissa I think) she indicated that she had received no messages from the front desk from the previous evening - very disconcerting…

Our family had an amazing stay. The location is perfect for quick trips to the beach, shopping or food 👍. The bedding and pillows were amazingly comfy and the view of the lake was gorgeous. Our room service attendant Victor was awesome. Super professional gentleman who made us feel like VIPs. Would definitely recommend a stay 👍

We loved that we didn’t have to go outside if the weather was not cooperating. We had the Spa, pool, restaurants, coffee bar, and access to shopping (Water Tower Mall). Perfect for a January get-away.

Nicest Hotel in Chicago
Location is perfect for seeing Chicago and enjoying great food. Everyone at the Ritz Carlton was so friendly and efficient. Rooms were first class and I do mean first class. The bar off the lobby was a highlight of our stay. Watching new years Semifinal football games while visiting, drinking Old Fashions, champagne and enjoying the scenery of people!

I know it’s the Ritz-Carlton and we wanted an upscale experience but I’m sorry, $17.82 for one can of Sprite and a bucket of ice from room service is inexcusable and criminal. Nice place but not that nice! Plenty of properties just as luxurious for a lot less money!

When you went to flush the toilet the water just kept running. You had to play with the handle everytime you flushed. Second we booked a spa package for two foot massages and then 30 min later I get a call saying oh they can’t do it. I asked why and she couldn’t give me a good reason why.

I was addicted to the bed. My god, i dont think ill ever be able to stay another hotel again. So soft. The goosedown bedding was immaculate. The views over navy pier were stunning. The staff were so polite and welcoming.
We have always stayed at the ritz for our anniversary, and every time we are beyond satisfied.

It's clear that COVID has affected staffing levels. I felt that service was great but not as impeccable as in times pre-COVID. That said, my stay was highly enjoyable and very relaxing. Was very happy to be there. :-)

Worse hotel at this level I have stayed at recently. Stayed at the peninsula recently and was a great experience. The ritz has no valet service. No turn down service. Just seemed like a motel 6. Not worth the money in my opinion. Staff was great. But the hotel is in shambles. Would prefer other hotels over this in Chicago. Even the drake is better these days. Hope they get better as they opened soon but sadly for me not a fun experience.

I didn’t like that if I wanted lemonade it was 43 dollars . That’s absolutely ridiculous. I would never stay at the ritz Carlton again. And the city view was only an apt view I couldn’t see anything.

Beautiful hotel in Downtown Chicago. Great location. Friendly staff and great rooms. Upon arrival, we noticed a ton of dog hair on the couch in our room. We immediately called the front desk and they did move us to a different room. We expected a very clean hotel, especially during covid 19. They did move us to a different room. No apologies or even a credit offer.

What I enjoyed about this place is the convenience to other restaurants, shopping centers, entertainment, and cafe shops. The overall experience was unique and all staff that we encountered had a smile on their face and polite. All questions and concerns were heard and taken care of. The floor we were on was very loud, the hotel staff besides the guy that checked us in were very curt, not very welcoming, found the food options to the room as lacking compared to other properties we have stayed at. The location was good. We were sold on the name, and frankly they didn't deliver.
