Incredible hotel

We go to NY frequently and have stayed at many good hotels. We would not go back to the Chatwal. The checkin process was terrible because there systems were down. After we finally checkin in, our key card stopped working. The lobby is very small and outdated
One drink at the bar was $37, even high by NY's standards. The restaurant is very dark and outdated. The room itself was clean.

Great hotel!! Loved the property itself and the staff was exceptional.
I would have given it a 5 star but they advertise themselves as family friendly, but they really aren't. The pool was very, very small and only opened from 10am to 7pm, which isn't very family friendly. And the room service menu didn't have any options for kids. The rooms were gorgeous, but they also need to get the heat sorted out. Our AC kept coming on and it was December. Definitely would go back with my wife though, probably not with the kids.

PERFECT HOTEL NEAR BUT NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THEATER DISTRICT. STAFF WAS INCREDIBLY HELPFUL, PERSONAL, REMEMBERED OUR NAMES. LAMBS CLUB RESTAURANT IN THE HOTEL IS EXCEPTIONAL.

Wonderful place to stay in NYC!
Great location (walked almost everywhere we went) and friendly staff! Room service included the best cheeseburger I have ever tasted anywhere! Very comfortable bed and bedding and a wonderful waterfall shower.

Best Hotel near Time Square!
I have stayed at several NY hotels and this was by far the best one yet. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing! They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting. Walking distance to several main attractions.

They claim to have guaranteed check-in by 4:00pm, however, they do not. We arrived approximately one hour early hoping we could check in early. They told us our room was not ready but were guaranteed to be checked in by 4:00pm. Our room was not ready until 4:20pm and we had to change and get ready for a reservation.

room was a little bit smaller than i expected but enjoyed the toilet extras and the candy. did not care for the chocolate cranberries too much. nice shower and shampoo, etc. delicious breakfast.

Excellent hotel. Perfect location in the theater district just minutes away from most major broadway shows. Able to walk everywhere. Central Park was about a 20 to 25 minute easy walk restaurant is pricey, but excellent food. Well worth the cost. Concierge is amazing and customer service is amazing.

Amazing 3 night stay!! Staff was extremely courteous, accommodating and friendly. ( Special mention to Michael and the entire Concierge staff for their special and personalized service ) Gorgeous, spotless and quiet hotel with special touches everywhere. Large room with many amenities to make for a wonderful stay. Fantastic location for theater fans and foodies. Can’t wait to return to this very special place for a longer stay. My favorite hotel in NYC!!!!!

I liked the quality of the room, cleanliness and the atmosphere in the lobby.
The Bellboys were excellent, always friendly and helpful.
The Spa was disappointing because on the day we wanted to use it it was closed. In the Spa there isn’t a sauna or steam room and also on the same day it was frustrating not to have any staff in the Spa area to ask about the facilities.

Despite being in the middle of Times Square, The Chatwal was a luxuriously restful & thoughtfully appointed oasis with THE BEST showers! Among premier hitels in NYC, this is currently our favorite.

Safety concerns
The hotel is lovely but the washroom is a concern. The floor was high gloss marble and slippery when wet. The shower set up was such that the floor always got soaked. Also you had to climb over the side of the tub without anything to hold on to.

Stay hete in NYC!!
Absolutely wonderful hotel, unmatched amenities and quiet, beautiful decor and furnishings, first class service and perfect location for theater goers and foodies. With the possible exception of elaborate, top-end resorts, I have never enjoyed a hotel stay more. This is my go-to NYC hotel.

A gorgeous property in a perfect location if you're theater going. We got an upgrade to a junior suite and a beautiful gift of truffles with a warm welcome note from the Front Office Manager. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant are beautiful, food was spectacular and the staff was knowledgeable and efficient. We've stayed here before and will certainly do so again.

The property was gloriously elegant without feeling snobby. The stars were amazing and extremely accommodating. The only disappointment was the lack of a city view (not the fault of the hotel just a minor thing) but would definitely recommend and would stay again

Stayed in Library Suite. Not an incredible view but the inside of the suite was amazing. Suede walls, leather on all surfaces. Two incredible bathrooms. Luxury, priced reasonably. 1/2 block off the center of Times Square, minutes to several theaters.

NYE 2022/23 After arriving back to our room at 2am
and going to bed we were awakened by water pouring from the ceiling. I called the from desk and they sent a
mechanic in at 5am after an hour they shut off whatever was causing the water in our room next to the bed. The hotel did not move us to a new room did not offer a discount or refund just free breakfast.

Property was a lovely quaint hotel. Close to everything in midtown. Inconsistent in housekeeping. Left our room at 9:30am and returned at 4:00pm and our room was not made up. Stayed for 5 days and some nights we had turndown service and some not. Hotel staff were all very pleasant.

The property is lovely, quiet, and in a prime location. The staff are friendly, nice, and helpful. The restaurant is welcoming and the food was great. I would absolutely stay here again and have already recommended it to others. The only negative... the sticker price. Not sure it is worth $800 a night, but certainly the best hotel I've stayed in in this area. Either way, a great experience!

Very good property. Roxy at front desk was best in ensuring our stay was all planned for. Manpreet front office manager was very hospitable and made our check in experience very best. Adam at front desk was so helpful at time of check out. Will highly recommend property and very customer friendly staff to anyone looking for a stay in NYC. location is ideal beer time square but kinda away from the crowded part.

Disappointing
We were really disappointed that the spa was closed and we weren’t informed. We’ve traveled a lot lately and most spas are open. For the price, we expected more. We asked if there was water in the room and we were assured that there was and then we retired only to find there was none. The fridge was empty and no coffee pot either. We had just read that this hotel was ranked number 2 in all New York and it was quite expensive so expected really fabulous service and amenities.

Horrible room for 1300 a night do bad I left a day early and still paid and had to book a different hotel. They said that they would reach out to Expedia since it was a third-party booking and see what they can do but of course Expedia also did nothing. I also felt like it was a bait and switch looking at the pictures online versus what you see in a hotel not even close

Wonderful stay at the Chatwal. Elegant rooms, considerate staff and so much more. The location is so convenient to Broadway and shopping. We had breakfast every day at the hotel and it was wonderful. All covid policies were followed.

Located pretty much in Times Sq. But not noisy. Staff very attentive in all functions. Restaurant very good for breakfast. Standard room good size for NYC. Bathroom very nice. Two sinks, large shower, no bath. However, stupid heated toilet seat that made seat too small and hard to use even for my modest frame. Exterior less than perfect. The usual NYC scaffolding obscured the whole front. Street level entrance door hard to open - heavy. Overall do recommend and would be happy to stay hear again

The hotel was beautiful and our suite was spacious and very clean. The bathrooms were amazing and very large with many amenities. Our terrace didn’t have a view but that was a good thing because it was peaceful and full of nice plants. Great location in Time Square! I would absolutely stay again.

Good and bad
My wife and I had a 3 night stay. Pros: The room was great and the bathroom was superb. Cons: My wife couldn't eat her breakfast because it was WAY overloaded with dill. They did offer a bowl of cereal, but didn't comp us. Also, our room key didn't work on the 2nd night so we had to go back downstairs to get it reset. This happened again on the 3rd night?? No sincere apology from the front desk. It seemed that we were bothering them?
