You get what you pay for!!!
The hotel is rundown if it was not freezing outside I would have taken my chances sleeping in my vehicle. The room was made up, there was hair in the restroom, in the sheets, the floors had stains and other things embedded. They had the slider open because of all the smoking in a nonsmoking room. It was very disheartening to see this as they are directly across from Carowinds and with that type of business you would think the owners would take more pride in making the accommodations more attractive, affordability is one thing but not at the expense of cleanliness, the feeling of safety, and lack of staff. The front desk was manned by one very hardworking woman and she was multi-tasking like nobodies business to get things done. Corporate owned or franchised the hotel group should be ashamed to let places like this get condition.

Too many shady characters hanging around entrance near elevator and sleeping on benches in main lobby. Women coming around and begging for money. Will probably never stay at this hotel again

From the roaches, the doors not shutting properly, and the random people knocking on your door in the middle of the night. This place is really not the best. It’s a non smoking hotel out people still smoke effortlessly in the hallways and the elevators. Literally as soon as i arrived at the hotel, some random stopped me outside blowing smoke in my face asking me for money and tried following me to my room.

Dont stay here
The outside of the hotel should have told enough about the inside but the lobby was decent so i was hopeful about getting the rooms. The first room was not very clean and the second room smelled like straight up cat pee so i immediately went back down and asked for a refund. I havent got it yet but hopefully in a few days.

When I first arrived, I wasn't greeted. The lady at the front desk was talking to an employee and kept the conversation going for a few minutes . After a couple of minutes passed, I butted in to say I had a reservation. She asked for my ID and went back to talk to her co-worker. Once she was done talking, she went and proceeded to check me in. She handed me the key and said thank you have a good night. We made our way to our room and found out the room smelled so awful that I threw up in the toilet from it. We immediately went to the front decks and told them this and she changed our room. Now we got a new room. We get upstairs to the new room and find out the keys don't work. So I processed back downstairs and once again told the front desk representative that I had and issue. She fixed the keys and said that it might be the keys she gave me. So once again I headed back to the room and got there with the new keys. The door still wouldn’t work. So We went back downstairs again and got placed in another room. Got into this room and it had the same smell. It wasn't as bad once we opened the balcony door but wasn't as bad as the first room. The bed was clean and comfortable I can't get too upset but did have to go through a lot to just get comfortable. The overall rating of my trip is 4.8.

I’m glad I was only staying one night, bed hard and lumpy, air conditioner water leaking on floor, broken lamp, mold in bathroom and on sliding glass door, people smoking weed at the entrance, room smelt musty, and hair drier was broken.

It smells ok on Lobby, but when we go to floor for room, smells smoking, mold. And there are many strange people walk around people, hang out on car, feel unsafe so we had to leave 1 hour after check in. The room was smells bad, mold, we felt itch when we laid on bed. The room is out of date, curtain has many little hole. And stranger people were walking around hotel, sat on cars, noise and we felt unsafe when they looked at us the whole time we walked in.

The hotel smelled of a combination of cigarette smoke and pot.
The mold on the ceiling of the shower was beyond unacceptable.
When we went to checkout the next moring the cleaning staff were standing in the lobby barefooted.
I would NEVER recommend this hotel! It should not be part of the choice family.

The entire hotel smells of smoke , even our “non smoking” room which had BURN MARKS on the toilet seat.

The location was convenient. The staff were friendly and attentive. The property def needs to be updated and renovated. Several things were not in working order- ice maker and TV didnt work. Staff was not able to fix the TV. We made the best of our stay and still had a great time

Do not stay! Filthier than your own house!
I don’t usually take much advise from bad reviews on hotels, because half of them are written by super needy people that are used to staying in swanky hotels. I’ve stayed in all types of hotels/motels… very highly rated to very lowly rated. Clarion by the amusement park “Carrowinds”is total trash and by far the worst I’ve ever experienced. Here are my gripes in chronological order… Showed up at check in and had to use the lobby’s bathroom. The toilet seat was covered in someone’s diarrhea, and urine puddling on the floors under the urinals, like you’d expect to see late night at a bar. When we got to our room we realized that our door would lock when we closed it, but even when locked it had enough give to leave a nice quarter inch gap around the door… they gave us one previously used roll of toilet paper… the floor board between the so called “balcony” and the air conditioner was rotted from the outside to the inside, that part of the carpet was constantly wet and moldy… holes and stains all over the sheets!… TV remote didn’t work (many bad reviews on this one) we went down and asked for another one and it was broken as well! I guess this is what you get nowadays for $68.00. I’ll definitely stay at a motel before I stay at this so called “Hotel”.

Front desk was super nice and quick to get us checked in and on our way. The hallway smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke and our bathroom smelled very strongly of weed. People were clustered around the sided door smoking and you had to walk through a smoke-screen to get to your car. The bed seemed clean enough, but the rest of the room, not so much. We found an additional remote control just under the edge of the bed, which tells me it's been a while since there was a thorough vacuum, since we could easily see it. We won't stay there again and it's sad that a hotel that close to Carowinds is in that condition.

I stayed at a different hotel same name and it was alot better experience and the hotel staff at the clarion at billy Graham parkway they were awesome. Definitely a different experience at the clarion at fort mill.

The worst ever
This was the worst hotel I have ever seen. The hallways and room smelled like smoke and mildew .. just dirty .. The carpet should have been replaced years ago. The slide door to the balcony was not able to lock .. I was on the 7th floor so I would hope no one would be able to scale the wall on to the balcony.. I was only in the room for about an hour .. I was in town for one night for a birthday party .. I stayed king enough to change my clothes and stayed at another hotel with family because I couldn’t bare returning …

That’s a very outdated hotel the bathtub was nasty . The bedroom smells like someone smoke there and the beds were full size instead of queen size . I would never stay there again. They offer breakfast or anything

Location was good for me. Parking lot was well lighted.
Property was all beat to hell. Lamp shade was busted. Walls were all banged up. Door jam was scraped up. Carpet was dirty. One bed had dirty sheets (fortunately second bed was OK). TV was very small. Waste basket was very dirty. There was no breakfast. Low-lifes were hanging around a propped open door. Very poor overall and especially compared with alternate hotels.

The hotel is completely outdated and uncomfortable to stay in. The first and second room I was given had a broken toilet, the drain was uncovered in the shower, the bathroom door was broken and pieces falling off. The walls and floor were dirty, and the mattress was completely uncomfortable to lay on.
I was given the option of a third room, which I settled with due to the timing being so late. This room was still in poor condition. I was given no accommodations for my inconvenience and the customer service was poor.
I will never book with this hotel again.

A total dump
The room was nasty. Crusted food on the night stand. Turned on the light in the morning and roaches literally scattered. Mold in bathroom. A toothbrush from some other person left in the shower. Missing drawers. In the morning there were cops at the front door.

Hotel is very run down. It stunk of body odour and marijuana. Room had no safe, no lock on balcony door. Air con unit had collapsed. Hotel allocated other people to my room after I checked in, then said they couldn’t find my reservation. Really poor for a Clarion brand.

Service is an Afterthought here
I specifically got this hotel as it was close to my next destination. IT was listed as having Breakfast but that was a LIE. My Door was broke, the Elevator was broke, the people at the Front Desk were of no help. The Girl in the Morning said she Forgot to make Coffee Today (this was at 9am). SERVICE is an Afterthought

stay was terrible to say the least for what you pay for rooms like that and the hall ways are discussing the smell is so bad housekeeping doesn’t do there job or management doesn’t because if the did would never be that nasty unexceptionable conditions one would think having a business like that they would care how it was not this place doesn’t even have clear tv channels it’s still analog unbelievable

A dumpster would have been better…
This was the worst stay at any hotel I have ever experienced. I have stayed at this hotel, many times in the past 20 years, & this was the worst! The staff was unprofessional. The room was filthy & unkept. The toilet ran all night & when I informed the front desk, nothing was rectified. We asked for extra pillows, & the person at the desk had to crawl over a woman leaning over the desk showing her phone to other guests, just to speak to is & told us no on the pillows (but offered no reason why). Someone left their puppy out on the balcony all day to cry, & the guests above us got drunk & vomited all over our balcony. When informing the front desk, & asked to move us, they did not care & said no. I would have felt safer & cleaner sleeping in my car in downtown Charlotte, than I did sleeping the two night in this building. Before hooking here, take your money & set it on fire - it will be a better investment.

The place needs upgrades
The pictures on the web page aren't accurate. The rooms are out dated and smelled damp and musty. I killed a baby roach on the desk but didn't see any traces of more. The hallways felt like the heat was turned to high.

This hotel was gross. Stains on the wall. Horrible smell in the hallway. Needs a total renovation.
After sitting in the bed I pulled the sheets up and it had a musty smell like underarms.
The carpet was old and nasty. My kids and I made sure we keep our slides on and socks on. We just needed a place to sleep for the night after visiting Carowinds. Next time we will choose a better stay. I wish I could get my money back because it wasn’t worth the cost.

First time staying I had a room at the tenth floor very clean . So I decided to get a weekly here! They placed us on the second floor where it was filled with mold and roaches everywhere in both rooms they try to give us ! Smelled like dog and pee! They only offer the second floor for weekly’s ! Which is said when you paying almost 500 for a weekly ! They stated they are having that problem on a couple floors! But after paying for a weekly they couldn’t provide me any other room at the hotel but the ones they showed! Hotel need to be closed all the way remodel and pest control need to come in! It would be a nice place If they take care of this and not money hungry !

The only thing that was good about the property is the friendly 3rd shift staff. They tried their best to help but every room they sent us to was dirty and when we finally found a room that the beds were slept in....there was blood splattered on the was in the bathrooj and room...no wash cloths...mold in the bathroom...no microwave or refrigerator....sliding door wouldnt move...blood on carpert......just the worst experience ever!! There was alot more but u did take pictures

Entire place smelled smokey, Bugs, No breakfast as advertised, pool was covered and closed, air conditioner was extremely loud in the room, towels in room were dirty. . Just absolutely filthy never would I go back or even use expedia again. Very Very disappointing

Not worth the price
Large room but needs updating. The bathroom door stuck and the room door you had to slam close in Order for the door to lock properly. There were roaches in the room. Parking was ridiculous and the cops patrol the parking lot all night. I stayed one night and that was enough for me.

Hotel is in bad need of updates. Chipped paint on room entrances for most rooms. Bathrooms in port condition. Missing lightbulbs in lamps. Soiled lampshades. Broken ice maker on 9th floor. Broken buttons on microwave. Balcony needs painting.

Hotel is very dirty. If I could’ve change reservations to another spot I would’ve. I didn’t even want to take a shower or shut of the light in fear of roaches. It’s a rough place and a shame because it’s so close to Carowinds

Run away don't stay
It began with a fire alarm as we entered. The lady shut off the alarm without investigating why it went off. While waiting to be checked in not 1 but 2 people angrily demanded a refund. We could not go to our room until the fire dept. turned the elevators on. The lady leaving said that weed a$* and pu** was being sold upstairs. Despite this we went to our room. It was bug ridden and filthy. There was an empty spot where a fridge was suppise to be. The lady at the desk bragged she did not care what happened there she watched Hulu all day.

Upon check-in the front and staff was extremely rude and insulting this was the worst experience I’ve ever had with the front and hotel staff in my life and I’ve stayed hundreds of hotels. I placed my drivers license and credit card on the counter and she asked me and I quote-I hope you did not just throw that at me. This young lady could not have been more than 20 years old and was very disrespectful and had no comprehension of customer service whatsoever and there was no offensive behavior that even occurred on my behalf this is not the experience someone wants to have when they arrive at a hotel. I want I’m going up to the room leaving an hour later it was so filthy and disgusting there was marijuana smell all over the place homeless people and sex trade workers throughout the facility. Nachos disappointing but completely unsafe and threatening.

Average to below average but great staff!
The hotel is definitely older and is under renovations/construction, but we had a sheet on the bed that had 2 cigarette burn holes in them and the entire hallway smelled of cigarette smoke (non smoking hall). The wall had a hole in it where someone obviously punched it, and the bathroom needs some attention as far as cleanliness. The workers were all great and top notch! Very nice employees throughout!

I have stayed at Clarions before but this was unlike anything I have ever witnessed! The building may as well be condemned. A big waste of money, and since we booked through Expedia the money wasn’t refunded. There is NO balcony, the space is so small one foot can get out of the door. The property looks like it’s been vacant for years. There were broken down cars in the parking lot. Everything inside was outdated and broken. Mold and splatters of who knows what was everywhere. It was disgusting actually. Do yourself and family a favor and AVOID

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Do not stay here!!!! Check is was ok, except the staff spoke Spanish as a first language but That’s ok. Went to room, hallways were dirty walls and ceiling were well worn and were flaking paint. Newer carpet was installed but not kept clean. The room did not have a number on it but my keycard worked. Room was well worn paint coming off ceiling. Baseboard had been removed. Dead bug in toilet. Bed was not level. Comforter was falling apart. On top of a fitted sheet was the comforter then the sheet was on top to cover it up. No remote, took two trips down to the lobby to get one that worked. One towel lad an obvious blue stain on it looked like toothpaste. Saw a roach climbing up the wall. Worst place I have ever stayed. That’s saying a lot as I normally stay in Days Inn or Super 8 as I travel. I thought the Clarion would be an upgrade. I was wrong. Please do not stay here you will regret it save 30 bucks and stay anywhere else. The piano in the lobby was a nice touch though, but probably not working. Disgusting!

The desk staff was courteous and helpful and the room was clean, but there was a lot of wear. The bathroom door was sagging and had to lift it up to close, the bedspread had holes in it, and the location was very noisy all night, worst of all was the dumpsters at the restaurant being emptied at 3:30 am.

The photos online are very old. The hotel looks run down and dirty. The non-smoking room smelled like old, musky smoke and had to wash everything (even clothes I didn't wear) when I got home. The AC unit didn't work right. The bathroom was dirty and the maid left old soap and shampoo in the bathtub so not sure it was cleaned at all. The curtains were ripped and torn. Also, when I was checking in the lady at the desk was not friendly and barely looked up from her phone to even bother to help or greet me. I usually give places a fair chance, but can't find much positive to say. Well, it is a good location, but did not feel very safe. And not a lot of parking. We will definitely stay at the other hotels in the area next time.

I usually don’t write reviews. I stayed at this hotel before. This time around I was disappointed. Roaches all in the bathroom. Put the door tag out for maid service. Never got it. Not sure I will be staying here again.

Yucky stay!
The clerk at the front desk was more worried about the friends she was talking to at the time I checked in than checking me in. Lobby was dirty and so was the hall. We killed 2 roaches in the elevator. The balcony had a bunch of cigarette buts and was just dirty. Bathroom was no better.

Yuck!
We checked in and out first room had a outside door that had a gap and would not close. The cold air was pouring in. The switched us rooms and we put our stuff in and went to eat. When we came back we turned the light on and roaches scattered. There was roaches all over the bathroom, the tv and microwave stand. They said they refunded us but we have yet to see it.

The room had roaches and the bathroom looked dirty. The lenien had spots on it. I wasn't satisfied at all. I will not stay there again or recommend my family or friends to stay. The Lobby was only the only good place at the hotel.
