It was fine for the price. We expected a property more like the Wyndham we stay at in Las Vegas; this property appeared to have once been a Motel 6.

This is a smaller boutique type hotel. The check-in was quick and professional. It is within walking distance to ASU and close to the 202 freeway. It is also very close to Tempe Marketplace which has an abundance of restaurants. The bed was comfortable and they have a breakfast available.

It was quiet. Had a comfortable enough bed, coffee maker, tv with cable. Bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, soap bar and lotion. Thats always nice. Clean towels, plenty of them for 1 or 2 people. Staff was friendly enough, never really went down to "hang out" or anything. The girl that checked me in was nice. The night guy was friendly. Check out guy was also friendly.
Cons.
Door was hard to open, kept thinking my entry card didnt work until i figured out the door got caught on the frame and you had to push really hard.
Coffee in the coffee maker was "meh". Needs more sugar or creamer packs but thats my personal opinion. The breakfast tea was much better than the coffee.

Skip it!!
Check in: very impersonal, no information on where your room is, where the elevator is, and I don’t feel as secure when key cards are already pre made before arrival.
The room: 😳 walking in the light switch turns nothing on. Had to use my phone flashlight to try to find a light to turn on. Zero overhead lighting, only two table lamps and a hanging “lantern” type light..that’s all the light you get. There is no security lock on the door, the latch that is there is I think missing a piece? As a solo female traveler this does not make me feel safe. The window shade is a double layer shade, but the bottom one doesn’t open so there’s no way to get light from the window, it’s like a dark cell. Dark hair all over the duvet, dirty un-vacuumed carpet.
The bathroom: I ended up with a handicap shower, no door or shower curtain so it flooded the entire bathroom trying to maneuver around the flip down seat, you get 2sq ft to stand it. The shower head is coated in limescale and calcium. Nowhere to set toiletries except a random table in the far corner of the room.
The bedside lamp is the brightest, harshest light ever created. Good luck trying to do your makeup in this room. Nothing about this room was good, and for over 150.00 a night? I’ve had much better stays at Motel 6

Friendliness from the front desk staff? Did not get the vibe of customer service. The room was dark, the blinds were not connected to the drawstring. The complimentary breakfast was not really breakfast, coffee and a packaged muffin.tried to check out early and get the remaining nights refunded and conveniently for 2 days of Expedia customer service checking the manager was never in. Wouldn’t stay here again.

This was a perfect location for our stay so we could walk to an Arizona Coyotes game. Only about a 20 min walk and we felt safe walking afterwards.
Our beds were very comfy, rooms has mini fridges & TV has lots of channel options.
The water pressure in our room was terrible. The pool is not heated so it was too cold for our January stay. No hot tub unfortunately.
Breakfast included was breakfast on the go. Prepackaged danish or muffin. Nothing special so be prepared.

The stay was fine. The problems after we checked out were not acceptable. I forgot a leg pillow in the room after checkout. I called at 6:45pm on December 9th. The lady who answered was so incredibly rude to me. I was very nice at first because I understand that I need to make sure I grab all of my items upon checkout, but the staff also needs to report when they find said items and not keep them for their own. She stated that no one reported it and I must have lost it outside of the stay. I have hip problems and was trying to obtain MY property before I went home. She refused to help me in any form whatsoever and told me to call the next day. When that is not helpful when I will already be back home. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she HUNG UP ON ME. I will make sure to NEVER stay at this property again. And if you want your property to stay your property I suggest you pick a hotel where the staff is honest. All i was trying to do was get my item before I returned home and she was extremely defensive and rude. I have never been treated so poorly as a guest before.

Clean up your act
Needs to have some serious upkeep—light not working,toilet tissue hold coming out of wall , wallpaper coming of wall in bathroom, shower door won’t stay closed etc.

If you are looking for a place to crash for one to two nights with no frills, it's fine for that. Very low water pressure in the shower, gym is a closet with a treadmill and bike jammed in, and the picture on the expedia website of the room must be form another hotel because it wasn't mine.

The hotel looked nice on the outside, but the room was gross. TV didn’t work. Staff was foreign and not helpful with the language barrier.

The room was not clean (rugs, mirrors and headboard). The hook in the bathroom for your towels was barely hanging on. There were no covers for the ceiling outlets and fire alarm. The bagged breakfast was way simple. At best a solid 4/10. Will definitely look elsewhere when needing to be near ASU.

Sam, the owner’s younger brother, provided phenomenal service and was so kind @ check- in. I arrived in Tempe to celebrate my son’s 21st Birthday @ ASU and Sam was so accommodating and being a Sun Devil himself knew how important this night was so he upgraded my room. Thanks Sam for making my stay @ Hotel Tempest a great experience.

It was quiet and in a good location. My room was dirty, I cleaned up some left over cookies that were on the ground by the night stand. They were visible, not sure how somone missed it. Their were chips and an empty bag of chips under and by the couch. The refrigerator had crumbs of food inside it.

The parking is public. No safety. The parking lot is shared with other businesses so they take no responsibility for anything that happens to your vehicle. The lobby was clean. The place is old, but they have tried to update the rooms. The door, I think was secure, but you could slide a pencil between it and the frame. There was hair in the bathroom, on the sink, counters and floor. The water pressure is nonexistent. It took forever for the water to get hot, over 15 minutes. The carpet is stained. There were things on the floor next to the mini-fridge and around the night stand. I didn't want to look at them to hard or I probably would of left The drawers had a weird smell. The traffic noise was a nightmare. I knew the airport was near, but the street noise was 10 times worst. This property is not worth the money they charge.

The staff were friendly, checking in and out was quick and easy. Comfortable beds, although the bed frames are shin-busters. Good linens and towels and clean bedding. Hotels.com lists free breakfast, and that is not the case. The floors badly needed vacuuming, but everything else seemed clean.

The little details count.
The iron was covered with burnt on grunge and I had planned to iron my dress the morning of the event - needless to say, I had to wait until I got to my brother-in-law’s house and use his iron rather than risk ruining my clothes. You should check things like that and an iron can be scrubbed with brillo and rinsed clean. Try it.
Also, the light switch by the door didn’t turn on anything so when we arrived late at night it was totally dark in the room. The last problem was the noise - the hallway doors must be very thin because we heard every conversation of people walking by, and because we were above the beer garden, we heard all the talking down there late at night.

Comfortable but needs updates
Loved the location. 45 minute walk from Tempe beach park and lots of restaurants nearby. Coffee station 24/7. Friendly staff. Hotel could use updating. Wires hanging out of ceiling, stains on sheet/ comforter. Pill found under dresser. Stain under sink where there was a leak. Looked like Sharpie marker drawn on wall art. Also, deep scratches all over mirrors on walls. Carpet down hallways dirty and had faint odor. Shower was nice and bed despite stains was comfortable.

There are not enough lights in the room. And of the one bedside lamp and one table top lamp there were, the table top lamp was not working.
We had an appointment early in the am and had to get up at 330am. The shower water was barely warm, and it took to the end of my companion's shower to get hot.
The window faces the parking lot, and a lot of lighting. But the window shade doesn't provide enough coverage to block out the light. We slept with pillows over our heads.
Went to check out in the morning. There was no one there, just a sign saying "be back in 5 minutes." Sign did not say what to do for check out. Waited 10 minutes.

Overall it's fine. I would stay there again. But the shower lacked water pressure nor were there any adjustments on the showerhead. very disappointing. Did not enjoy the shower. But the place was clean and well kept -- better than most in this price range.

The property itself was underwhelming. The photos almost catfish the property and make it look better than what it is. The room itself was dirty like stained carpets and bedding. There were also clothes left in the dresser of the room and a pair of dirty boots. Staff did not remove any of the items and could not offer a different room.

OK, but traffic noise is loud.
It was an OK hotel for the price. But the traffic noise could be heard easily through the closed windows. They need to soundproof the windows. It's right on a very busy street.

Overall cleanliness was poor. The swimming pool was very dirty, and the hallways were in need of cleaning. There is no breakfast, you had to buy prepackaged muffins. The staff seemed nice, I didn't have much interaction with them. The hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants and a brewery.

We didn't care for the beds. It wasn't really quiet- you could really hear people in the hallway and light shined around the entire door when the lights were out. But, for the price it seemed ok. We only stayed one night because it just wasn't for us but they charged us for two even though we cancelled well before the 24 hours.

The hotel is just decent. The bed was comfortable but the room and hotel overall were dated and dingy. The bathroom was upgraded which was a nice surprise. The AC unit was LOUD and rattled. It is next to a busy road in a college neighborhood so lots of traffic noise.

My recent stay.
The property was nice and staff friendly. When I first entered my room in the evening, the first two lights I tried did not work. I found one light unplugged and the other switch didn’t work at all. Tv didn’t work either. It was also unplugged but once plugged in, could not get a signal. There was no closet or hangers or any way to hang clothes up. There was no bathroom counter space for personal items. The shower was nice and plenty of water pressure. The rest of the room was very nice. Plenty of pillows and ac worked great. Wished they would have had a better snack/drink selection in their snack area.
The hotel was very convenient for the area of town I was visiting. Several options for eating meals within walking distance.

I did not like the communication of letting us know there was another door to use after hours and we ended up sleeping in our car the majority of the night cause we could not get into the hotel with our key card cause it was broken and we were not told that.

Nice hotel. Looked like it may have been recently updated. Checkin said only until midnight. Check in was available after midnight. Room we stayed in was small but we were there only to sleep. It accommodated all our needs. I would stay here again for sure.

The bed was hard to sleep on, felt like we slept on 4x8 plyboard and no place to put our stuff. Lil hooks to hang towels. No heated pool. No heated spa.Only thing good is the shower. I wouldn't recommend it unless you like to sleep on hard bed with stiff body aches in the morning.

A good $80 a night hotel.
It is obviously an older motel that has been refurbished multiple times judging by the many wall outlet covers and light switches that do nothing. The bed was ok comfort wise while the vinyl couch looked old and dirty with years of use. The lighting in the room was very dim (a good sign they don't want you to see things). The bathroom was tiny but functional and the sink was clogged. The room had a tiny microwave and a minifridge that was in desperate need of defrosting. If you want the room cleaned you have to request it daily. The carpets where very stained. The most annoying thing is how loud the room was. I could here people talking in the parking lot and the people in the room next door using the bathroom.
This is an a four star $80 a night hotel, at $300 a night it is rip off.

Although I liked the property. I stayed for 5 nights and my room was only serviced once. 2 out of my 5 wake up calls never happened. There was no water available to buy one night. They offered me soda but I was literally dehydrated.

Room was clean and neat. Cheap crappy pillows on nice bed. Walls paper thin so could hear people in hall until after 1 AM talking and at 7AM again. Doors slam when people shut so very loud. 2 guests in our room but 1 bath towel and a single bar of soap for sink and shower even though room was reserved for 2 guests. Front counter staff very disinterested and distracted.

It is an older hotel and smelled musty, the floor needed swept and vacuumed, especially under the desk. Neighbors were very loud and walls thin. TV didn’t work and front desk “reported” it. Not a great stay.

Nice, clean, and comfortable. On check-in, 1 keycard didn't work...got it fixed...then the other one didn't work....got them both fixed. The next morning both were deprogrammed again so had to get that fixed a 3rd time. I was allowed to do a late checkout with no extra charge so that was great and VERY helpful.
