I don’t know how anyone had given this place 5 stars! It is not worth close to the money they charge & their customer service is horrible (there is none)! Had read rooms were updated only 2 months ago but our room had mold in the shower, filth on the door, old food or something stuck on the welcome book pages. The “private deck” they say you get is a shared deck. The waterfront rooms are “fishbowls” so everyone can look inside your room if you have your shade open. Boats can dock only steps outside your room so there is excessive noise & can obstruct your waterfront view. You can’t block out the noise turning tv on because there is no reception on tv in room. Oh, also, if you have allergies, know they have stray cats that greet you if you’re on the deck & they rub against you & come in your room if you’re on deck. Says office hours are 8 am - 9 pm although tried going at 8 pm & door was locked & employees were gone. Repeatedly tried to call (left messages) & email but no one would answer, return calls or reply.

A different kind of place, there is alot there, you could just stay there if you wanted, they have restaurants, a couple bars, a beach and several piers. Overall it was good,

Gilbert's resort is such a nice place to stay & hang out at. The staff are very friendly and the location is one of the best, especially if you come by boat. Enjoyed our stay!!!

Management has no regards for thier guests. Waterviews are non-existent even tho you pay for waterview as they park huge mammoth boats on frint of your room blocking your view.
But when they allow construction at 7 am that just tells you that you dont matter.
The stench from the water treatment facility located right next to the rooms was horrible,especially at high tide.
Couldnt wait to leave.

Disappointing
Very disappointed. We were not made aware that construction/remodeling was taking place, so we were awakened in the morning by construction noise. I sent the hotel an email expressing my disappointment and never received a response. I’m aware renovations are necessary and construction noises accompany renovations - I would have liked to have been informed upon check in so I could have at least expected it. A response to my email expressing this would have gone a long way.

We loved the fact that we saw a family of manatees and were able to interact with them from the private beach at the hotel .it made our stay very special.

The a/c in the room was working ok but we never could get it to cool down. The a/c unit blew over the door and into the empty part of the room. My suggestion is ceiling fans over the beds. Other than that everything was great. Very nice staff. Great breakfast bar with more items than I expected. Fun bar and restaurant. Nice pool. We had a great time!

Love the first floor rooms with the nice view.
Convenient location.
Tiki restaurants had good food and service.
Wish the small beach had beach chairs to lounge in since we could not bring our own.(like the picture showed)
Also, the pool was not monitored. Lots of kids running around and even eating in the pool.

You hit the resort before Key Largo. It is in scenic waterfront setting on Jewfish Creek. All the rooms have a waterfront view. It has a good restaurant on premises. It is a good place to stay just off Key Largo.

The room was nice however the door did not have a padlock on the inside, the pool closes at 8pm, the famous tiki bars were barely open and close early, and the beach area was much more disappointing than what was advertised. The food at the tiki bar is also AWFUL.

avoided the miami ramp's during memorial day weekend. rooms were clean and modern, breakfast was great. all staff were friendly and onpoint. definitely will use a again got a quick getaway from miami

When you look at the pictures of this property, you are led to believe it is a 'resort', which it definitely is not. There are no amenities. there is a huge outdoor tiki bar and restaurant and the food is all from Cheney Bros., frozen, yuk! The 'beach' is not a beach. It's a tiny nasty brown water area with sand. the rooms are so small, you have to wait for someone to finish what they are doing so you can then move around and do what you need to do. We were charged $371/night which is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS! This is a motel where boats come to fill up with gas. We left 2 days early because it was horrible! This motel is worth at best $65/night! The 'free' breakfast is powdered eggs and exactly like you would see at the other motels, not a home cooked breakfast. For $371/night I was expecting a spa, a couple of pools, a nice long beach with turquoise water. You get none of that. So very disappointed. Don't waste your money on this place.

We stayed Thursday to Sunday. The first 2 days were great. The Tiki hut is great! Food is delicious and service fast. All of the bands were excellent. Then, the weekend comes and we can't get service at the bar or restaurant because locals are everywhere. We had trouble getting in and out of the resort because the street was full of people walking into the resort. We didn't have a spot to park at one point. Not sure how you treat PAYING customers like that.

Not Great, but not bad and it's in the Keys!
There is a pool, access to the beach, a dock, and a restaurant. It's not a bad location, either. You can tell the hotel was a nicer hotel... but it's not as nice as it once was.
The restaurant/bar closes at 9:00, Monday -Thursday. If you are good with that, then it's a good option. Breakfast is includeds, but it's the kind you get at a La Quinta... powdered eggs, toast and the other like.

Dining on site. Beach access, boat access, rooms on the water. Room did not have a phone so when I became ill, my sister had to go to the office to call an ambulance. No safety bars in the shower

The dolphins in the channel right outside room in the morning and evening ❤️ The 2 Manatees that came right up to the board walk ❤️ The food was excellent and most of the servers were great. The security personnel were visible and helpful. The resort had everything you could want! Thanks we had a great time!

Key Largo's Gilbert Resort
Fun stay, clean updated typical bathroom & rooms, microwave/fridge, great air conditioning, comfy bed, great outdoor space for kayaking, jet ski rentals, small beach, boat docking, outdoor restaurant & bar with great food, live evening music, hot/continental breakfast included with stay, employees are professional & very helpful, clean pool. The location is just a few miles to the John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park for swimming & snorkeling, & tour boats. Grocery stores & other shopping & restaurants are within a few miles as well. Enjoyed evenings sitting on the porch watching all the boats travel back & forth under Hwy 1 bridge from the Gulf to the Atlantic.

Disappointing restaurant service.
We have stayed at Gilberts for many years after the Miami Key Largo Race. We rented 5 rooms. We hosted 12 friends for dinner at the restaurant. After much dialogue with the staff 5 dinners never arrived. And they still included a 20% tip on the bill!

The room was exactly what we wanted. We had a nice first floor room with a patio. We had some friendly cats to visit with us while we were on the patio. The only negative was the shower black pressure which makes it hard to rinse the soap and shampoo off.

The front desk was nice, the rooms were updated and the breakfast was more than I expected. Around the outside was trash and pollution everywhere. Everything from people dumping drinks and cigarette butts in the plant pots to litter everywhere with no recycling cans in sight. Everything goes in the trash. The “beach” is a thirty foot crescent of filth, constant trash that no one picks up. They advertise a restaurant, paddle board,kayak, jet ski and boat rentals… yeah, the food at the restaurant is the same inflated price as key west, but you get misery on a plate. My vegetables and rice was microwaved from a frozen bag, my shrimp skewers were, not debaned, not seasoned and barely done. The water toys for rent did not open a single time in the 9 days and nights we were there. Some weirdo from the kitchen was ogling my wife constantly and the music is not something to talk about. All and all overpriced pretty trashy hotel and it takes two and a half hours to get down to key west from the place.

Clean, easy to access from the main highway.
Weekend was busy, but otherwise quite quiet. There is a tiki bar so you will hear music, but not crowded.
No other facilities around, so if you want evening strolls there is nowhere to go unless you drive. Would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed watching the boats go by on our dock. The weekends are pretty busy with tourists and quiet during the week. The restaurant is located outside with a band playing nice music but the staff is very slow and not too friendly. Our room was comfortable but the floors were dirty and I cleaned them myself with a towel.

Room was nice and clean with a good view, all the staff was very friendly and helpful. Gilbert's is on it's own exit off of Rte 1 so there's no other traffic going to the resort. The restaurant there has great food and had very good live music every night we were there. The private beach is a little rocky so bring water shoes, but it's protected from the waves so it's good for kids. We saw dolphins not far outside the rope for the swimming area. It was a fantastic experience and we'll be staying there again.

Had a very small beach, but the smell of all the boat fuel was sickening. The rooms were nice size, but the food and drinks were massively overpriced. The fold out bed sheets had not been changed in a while and we're stained all over the place.

Gilbert’s Resort was very clean. A special shout-out to the comfort of our bed. It was a full king and very soft. The property area is not ritzy but is a good family choice for a first reasonably priced stop on the keys.
