I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Sorrento. We recently stayed there two nights so that I could undergo treatments at Virginia Mason. On our first night there, I dropped a Diamond earring down the sink and we immediately notified the front desk. Although there was no maintenance staff on duty at the time, the front desk made sure a technician came to our room first thing the next morning to retrieve my lost jewel. The valet parking was convenient, friendly & efficient. Unfortunately, I still have many, many more appointments at VM, but knowing that such a lovely establishment is just steps away makes having to be away from home a little easier.

Good not amazing
The hotels is lovely but old. The furniture is veering towards shabby, thin windows let in a lot of noise, the shower head in the bathroom was super low, and the heat was radiator rather than central and difficult to controls. They also had an electrical problem—the smoke alarms sounded incessantly for about 40 mins. But very good service, kind people, clean rooms. Good, not amazing.

In general, we really liked this place. It's an excellent location- close to both downtown sights and the bar/restaurant neighborhood. The building has a lot of early 1900's charm. The bar is classic, and a great place to gather with friends at the end of your day. I found the staff helpful and friendly. A nice touch was coffee, fruit and muffins in the lobby each morning. I have just three minor complaints that dropped me from a 5 down to a 4 star: 1) The resort fee of $25 per night. This always bothers me-- like a hidden tax or a mandatory tip. I would always prefer the hotel be open and simply charge one full fee, instead of this add-on line. Plus, this wasn't a 'resort', so I don't know what we were paying for. I never saw a pool or other resort-type amenities. 2) there was no breakfast served until 10a. It wasn't an issue for our larger group-- we just walked to a cool café nearby. But, the hotel lost on a sizable breakfast bill for our group of 14 . 3) We had no success cooling our room down at night. The HVAC system seems quite old, and even opening the window at night didn't help. It's hard to get a good nights sleep when you can't control your room temp. The staff was so nice, I even feel a bit bad about these critiques. But, management needs to know there are solvable issues. Especially the hidden fee is annoying.

Hotel Sorrento is a grand dame of a hotel. The lobby, bars, restaurant, and lounge are absolutely beautiful! I wish they could upgrade the rooms and hallways, as they reminded me of apartments I'd rent in my youth. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, but old water damage is apparent. The staff is welcoming, and the food is super yummy! It's located amongst several hospitals (Pill Hill) so expect a lot of sirens. I'd definitely stay again.

A Classic Hotel in Seattle.
The Hotel Sorrento is a classic landmark hotel. It enjoyed a heyday in the 1980s and 1990s. Today it is a somewhat dated but still warm and inviting. The room was a bit spartan by modern standards, but very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was small, with little counter space, but nicely appointed with big fluffy towels and luxury personal care amenities. All of the staff was friendly and helpful in a youthful semi-professional way. The only disappointment was that the cozy warmth of the hotel was distracted by the restaurant, Stella, which was, we suppose, trying to emulate an Italian courtyard, but was mostly cold and noisy. The food was good, however. The overnight valet parking charge of $60 seemed a bit steep, but the garage is off the street and secure. Overall, we liked the Sorrento and would return.

Hotel needs a major update
I love a hotel with historic charm, but this one has outlived its charm without a major update. I reserved a "suite" and while it was large, every piece of furniture and the carpet looked worse for wear. I didn't feel comfortable taking my shoes off the carpet was so bad. The room had officially the worst view of any hotel I have ever stayed at. The "view" was of a brick wall, alley, and a direct sightline into the bathroom of a shady looking apartment. We kept the curtains closed during the entirety of our stay. The staff was all friendly and the lobby/bar are charming, but sadly that wasn't enough to make up for the incredibly shabby and drab room. Overnight parking is also $60.00 per night, for an area of Seattle that doesn't support that pricing. Hotels downtown have parking for $30.00. The hotel charges a $25.00 "resort fee," which was laughable. This is no resort. Sadly, I would not recommend Hotel Sorrento.

Overall I like the hotel. The history and it’s not so packed since there’s only 7 floors. I get the keeping the aesthetics as original as possible but the HVAC in the room hardly worked it probably needs to be updated to a thermostat Also I love the elevator because it’s the original I believe but we got stuck in it. After we got out, we just decided to walk up 6 flight of stairs to get to our room after walking from Lumen field to the hotel. Neighborhood was noisy with cars, emergency vehicles and transients yelling And all of the staff members were super nice but just 1 bartender Minh I believe was her name was cold and condescending to us But the rest of the staff were very pleasant and accommodating

Nice hotel, maybe avoid the restaurant?
Nice, older hotel. The hotel was fine but their restaurant leaves plenty to be desired. Two incidents at the restaurant were concerning to me, and I’m saying this purely as an observer of the day staff and night crew (especially the manager at night, who was a bit nasty).

2nd room Sorrento high standard
On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The original room we were taken to was not acceptable with a free standing air/heat fan in the living room with a flexible hose out the window. Not the usual Sorrento high standard. We were given another room which was very satisfactory. Also, disappointed in the very limited breakfast menu. We missed the previous delicious variety of Stella.

Great place to feel swanky
We had a wonderful time at the Sorrento, from its walkable location, excellent service, elegant facility, and comfortable beds, it was absolutely fantastic. The downstairs lounge with its dark wood and fireplace made you feel like the top of the world circa 1900. (Which, in my opinion, is as good as it gets.) The staff was terrific, very helpful and friendly, with good inside knowledge of the surrounding area and where to eat, the valet was responsive and quick to grab the car, and the whole experience felt like elegance is back!

The property is nice and it has a warm feel. The rooms are mediocre, room electricity is scary (sparks shot out from the outlets when you plugged something in), noisy with surrounding traffic because the AC unit is free standing and vents out the window through a piece of board and the beds are extremely firm (I felt like I got hit by a truck). The front desk & valet staff are very nice and helpful. The wait staff in 2 restaurants were pretty rude and the menu is limited and expensive ($70 for a snack).

This is a very nice (and historic) hotel, centrally located to many of Seattle's attractions. You should know, though, that if you intend to go to the waterfront areas (T-Mobile Park, Pike's Place, the Space Needle, etc.), you will need to walk down and back up some steep hills. This wasn't a problem for us, but those with mobility issues should be aware.

We love love love Hotel Sorrento. A beautifully kept historic hotel, it has a good on-site restaurant and bar plus a lovely original lobby space in which to spend time with friends. The staff is professional and welcoming - once you’ve been a guest they remember you and your special requests and greet you by name. The location is terrific, close to downtown and the freeway but out of the fray. The wonderful (and free!) Frye Art museum is just 2 blocks away. The age of the Sorrento is one reason we wanted to stay there, so the few instances of dealing with aspects of a bygone age (the elevator, for example, which was charming if you just slow down yourself) didn't bother us at all, but might be annoying to someone who didn't know that the hotel was over 100 years old.

Classic hotel with very friendly staff. Like stepping back in time in historical Venice or Florence. One thing to improve on would be to have a courtesy car that would take clients to specific spots such as restaurants. Like myself and if not familiar with the city, it would add an amenity that would be above all other hotels even with a payment of a small fee for this service.

Not sure how this got an 8 rating...
I really wanted to like the place because it's got some cool historic character. However, know that 'historic character' also means it's hopelessly dated -- rooms are small, mattress was old, shower head in the bathroom at belly-height with not enough hot water, barely basic cable on the TV stations, wonky old heater, beat up furniture and finishes in the room. The location is also right next to the hospital district so you're going to hear sirens all night. In the case of my stay there was also a bunch of road construction -- jackhammers start at 7:00am. The restaurant is nice, the lobby is nice, and the service was good.

Very noisy but convenient to Virginia Mason
The hotel is older but lovely and I had a large suite. I was booked for 3 nights to be close to my friends at Virginia Mason Medical Center, but it was extremely noisy with sirens and traffic all night. I hardly slept but the fact that the bed was much too firm for me also contributed. The staff were very pleasant when I explained that I just could not stay there for 3 nights. They only charged me for one. If you need to be a block or two from the hospital, it is a very nice place, but not if you are there for relaxation and sleep. Cudos to the staff though.
