Not impressed with a leaky roof when it rained.
My husband and his family have been visiting here for 30 years The staff around the resort are very nice and helpful. Fantastic property. We checked into our hotel 828, smooth and easy. We went swimming in the family pool. Beautiful amenities. We went to bed early since we have a toddler. It rained at 2:30 am. My husband was moving around. I said, what's up? He was wet because the ceiling was leaking directly on his head and all over the bed and pillows. It rained for a little over an hour. We have the toddler and didn't want him to wake up, so we moved to the edge of the bed and placed the ice bucket, trash can and towels on the bed. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep since the whole half of the bed was wet and the dripping of the leaky ceiling. In the morning we went to the front desk to let them know. They offered a free coffee. We stayed in a hotel for a nice night away and got no sleep since they didn't upgrade the roofs and we get offered free coffee. Not exactly how I thought it should be handled. We won't be coming back. Not recommending this place. The whole point of a hotel is a place to sleep.

The RB Inn is a beautiful; upscale property
I would have liked a fan in the room…..also wanted to turn the air conditioning down but couldn’t work the thermostat. It kept reverting back . I think the parking fee of $37/night is totally unacceptable.

4 nights costing $1630.09 for an old outdated room in desperate need of upgrading is not what I was expecting.
The staff were great, housekeeping was very good. Food was also very good but $6 for a cup of coffee is insane!

Great stay but need to update the fitness center
The overall condition of the hotel is a bit dated. The patio king room where we stayed was comfortable, clean, and close to the parking lot. The food at the veranda was good and at reasonable prices. The main thing I noticed that the fitness center needs to update the equipment, since it looks very dated with old machines.

The stay was very comfortable. The property was very safe and clean. It had many decorative water features which my 17month old son enjoyed a lot. It had good room service. The best thing was that I could communicate with the front desk via text. I didn't need to call or walk all the way to the reception for something. It was amazing.

Not a relaxing hotel
Our stay was not as expected. We got an upgraded room for 45.00 and it was really no change to what we had. So many fees added to our bill. We had no water one morning and not once got a call to the room or text to phone.Thankfully we had water bottles we had brought in for our use. Parking lot is a mess. They should have designated parking spots for rooms. People playing golf take up all the parking.

The room we originally booked was not available when we arrived. We waited two hours to have what we had booked cleaned and had to end up choosing new room even after that. Jackhammer in the morning time, spa never returned my call for appointment and final day water to the resort was shut off by the city for hours. Not the best of experiences in our frequent travels to the San Diego area.

Nathalie in the nail spa was amazing! She was meticulous and sweet. I very much enjoyed my mani pedi.
The hostess at veranda were very helpful and friendly, both Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
It was very nice for the valet to bring the car over to the Green’s building to make a loading up the car easier.

Location was good, but the room service was Okay. We ordered breakfast, it was delivered on time but silverware was missing. Had to call back.
The bathroom sink drain was plugged, we called about 8 pm, they fixed it the next day 10 am. Too expensive for what you get

Loved the size of the rooms and the location of the property. Screaming and yelling kids and family members next door forced us out of our first room. Continual barking dogs next door forced us out of our second room. Our third room was much smaller (not what we paid for), but at least we could get some sleep in it. We could not believe that dogs were allowed in any rooms. There should have been special sections for dogs and families with young children.

I was extremely disappointed at the poor customer service at the front desk and at the Veranda restaurant. I would never eat there again. For the amount of money I spent, I expected A LOT more than what I received. This hotel needs to install elevators. It's not good to haul 50-lb. luggage up and down stairs.

I almost gave all 'excellent' ratings. I had one encounter with the spa hostess and a housekeeping staffer that dropped my overall rating. Short spa summary:
I went in to ask her for a day pass, that I wasn’t interested in any treatments. I just wanted to use the pool.
She stated no day pass available on Sundays, the only way to use the pool was to get a treatment.
So I said ok, I’ll get a treatment (so I could use the pool).
She said she’s all out of treatment appointments today.
In the hotel info packet they give you *doesn't say anything about different hours on Sunday.
Can you understand why anyone would be annoyed? Lead with that information next time, instead of making go through that whole conversation and making me feel unwelcome. Most spas have similar rules but it's all about how the human behind the desk handles the problem.

This property was not even close to being worth the price. Issues were as follows:
1. Poor lighting very difficult to find the room at night.
2. Outside porch light not working.
3. No soap in the room.
4. There was garbage from the previous customer.
5. AC did not work.
6. Restaurant and room service close at 9:30.
7. No ice machine. When staff took me to find ice machine there was a dumpster in front and the machine was broken.
8. Furniture and decor was dated.
9. Our building was under construction and had equipment and exposed electrical wires.
10. Entry to building had two large potted plants in front but a staff member suggested we use that entrance as it was a shortcut.
11. Upon check in we were offered an upgrade for $50/night. At the price of the room we decided that wouldn't be necessary. In hindsight, the property should have upgraded us at no charge.
Good things:
1. We were able to make the room service cut-off and the food was tasty.
2. When requested the front dest did provide us a razor.
3. The property waived parking and resort fees upon request. Again, at the price of the room, these should be included.
Upon checking out, I requested to have one of the nights charges waived as the quality of the room did not warrant the cost of the stay. The hotel indicated that if Expedia approved they would refund one night. Photos can be made available upon request.

Stayed for five nights at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for a family wedding event. The staff were fantastic in just about all aspects... very professional and friendly. And responsive.
The actual room I stayed in was nice, but was quite dated. Needs renovation, and there were signs in the lobby area announcing that management is indeed initiating a renovation project of the rooms, which will take place in stages. I will look forward to staying in a new room on my next visit. Housekeeping service is offered only after the third night, but it was possible to order fresh towels.
The restaurants had excellent food and very good service. Regretably, the small on-site store just off the lobby (selling coffee, snacks, and light take-away meals) closed each day in the early afternoon.
Overall, a nice getaway. And the on-site golf course makes it a dream for golfers...

Bad hotel experience
Bad hotel experience. On my way to the hotel at 4pm I recieved a phone call from the front desk manager. She told me that she would not be able to give my my room that night because the hotel had a maintenance problem and that she had booked me in a hotel in the area. I was not happy. she told me that she would email me the booking at the new hotel. I am driving and not getting the best cell signal. I had a hard time getting the email information. 2 hours later i did get it. I went to a lower quality hotel that was being remoldeled. This was not a good hotel. The Inn paid for this night. Great, thank you. but this hotel was not the same type as RBI. I was not there for a vacantion. This was for work at RBI hotel.
The next day I check in to RB inn. I was told that the reason I was bumped out of my room was the hotel had over booked. I was told this by a number of emplyees.
This booking was for an event at this hotel. The most inportant part of this work event was the networking done at this hotel during the stay ( even missing a couple of hours is a big deal). I missed out on that. I feel that if i had booked with the hotel and not thorough this app I may not have been bumped.
The service at this hotel was great and the hotel grounds are lovely. I will not book this hotel for our corporate retreat for 2024

The a/c was broken in our room. we asked to be in a quieter area but they put us in a conjoining room with neighbors that played music til after 1am. Also my massage therapist I requested called off and I had a very soft massage vs the deep tissue i originally requested. Other than that our Mothers Day Weekend was nice. Property is beautiful

Pool is soo dirty, the room is very old ( not like the photos it show on the webs) and door on patio doesn’t lock. The worst part the noise!!!! The room I stay at is so noisy, someone is running laundry up stairs and at midnight they are pushing some noise carts with bottles riddles for good half an hours. I paid over $311 for a room I can’t sleep well in it.

Poorly maintained hotel
This hotel should be ashamed for charging the prices they do for the atrociously old and poorly maintained rooms. I am happy to pay expensive prices when it is warranted. The furniture was old and scratched, the heating/cooling unit was so loud (the person on the other side of the phone could hear it) that one had to turn it off (they did send someone over who got it to be less loud) and at the shower head pipe coming out of the wall was an open hole in the wall. Everything was so old at this place. Rooms and bathrooms are dark, small shower has old tiles. I did not complete my stay. Other than a $50 reduction in the overpriced $150 pet cleaning fee ( I did not receive the so called pet- welcoming packet either), the mgr refused to give any further discount to the room for the one night I had to stay there, but did cancel the rest of my stay.

Had a wonderful staycation for my husbands birthday overall. I come here because it is a peaceful escape. Originally we were supposed to have a king bed but we got an upgrade to two queens.The reservation was under ”Mr.” and I identify as female. They didn’t correct this upon checkin as I was being referred to as Mr. on the text update from them throughout our stay. There was a wedding the weekend we stayed so it was a lot busier. The property is so beautiful and I can see why it would be a great destination venue for weddings.We stayed at the Fountains building and it was nice to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of water and the birds. The guests besides us and on top were a bit loud, but that’s at no fault of the hotel. Our AC was acting a bit weird as well. It was gusting out cold air. We tried to adjust it without messing with the main setting but then it started gusting warm air. Service was a bit delayed at the pool. We waited almost an hour for 2 drinks and some chips and guacamole, but we understood that they are also servicing those eating at the veranda and it can get super busy. Our server was super kind. One thing I would recommend is maybe getting extra support at the cafe. There was only one person working and she had a very positive attitude despite a huge line. Just to be clear I am not complaining about the line, I am showing concern about the one worker who has to internalize her stress because of consistently busy line. She definitely needs support.

It was slightly overpriced for just one evening stay. It was not as "luxurious" as we had expected it to be either, but still nice and clean. The property is large and offers several amenities (which we could not take advantage of unfortunately). The overall size and gardens were very nice for privacy and it made taking a stroll very enjoyable too.

We spent the long weekend at Rancho Bernardo Inn for Christmas. It was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, helpful, and service was a priority. We loved the restaurant and was impressed with the healthy options. Our room was in the Fountain building, and the ambiance of the rain and the fountains washed all of the stress of the year away.

My wife and I chose this property for our anniversary. As we drove up to valet, about 4 staff members were standing around while others were assisting guests with their luggage. We waited for valet to assist us with our vehicle, but instead were asked if we were guests and then told to move our car as valet was temporarily unavailable. An 8x10 sign obstructed by other vehicles and located at the entrance of the resort was not easily noticeable. Checking into the front desk, my wife and I asked if a bell hop could assist us with our luggage and the front desk said no, stating the bell hop was assisting other guests. No other option was provided for us. When we asked about valet, we were told it was unavailable and that there were a few weddings occurring on the property. So we parked our car far away at a golf course. Our room was a few doors down from the lobby. The entrance was through a patio door that faced the resort entrance. Black patio chairs, covered in spider webs and empty wine glasses highlighted our patio. As we entered the room, the white linen on a huge bed with a dimly lit room invited us in. And although I called ahead for champagne and chocolate to mark our special occasion, none of these items were present, but arrived 4 hours later. I also paid for an upgrade, but due to the weddings, could not be accommodated. The jacuzzi was cold. The food however was great and the bar staff and golf store attendant was friendly.

First class hotel and customer service experience.
We were grateful that after first refusing to honor our Hotels.com VIP Silver perk of free parking on check in, the manager (Lindsay) contacted us a couple days into our stay, and graciously offered to honor our "VIP" status. [It should be noted that Hotels.com online staff member (Wendy) refused to help us with this issue and actually pretended that she couldn't bring up the details of our reservation (which clearly stated this perk) even when supplied with the 13 digit reservation number]!
So RB Inn gets a "10" and Hotels.com reveals their true value!

Our stay was okay but considering what we paid a night , I was expecting it to be exceptional! The staff was professional and friendly . The rooms were very spacious and clean but a little outdated in my opinion . The adult pool was clean however lacking service . I wish they would have a bar service available so that we didn’t have to walk to the bar and order our drinks . I highly recommend having dinner at Avanta , the food was exquisite , Joseph was our waiter . His service was amazing.

Quintessential laid back SoCal resort. Impeccable service and hospitality. Pools, spa, golf, dining in a lush and comfortable setting. If you need frenzied glitz and glamour, go elsewhere. 20 minutes to SoCal Beach Cities and the Pacific. A "go to" favorite of ours! Try it!

We’ve been staying at the RBI for 20 years. This will be our last. It was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had in more than a decade. The staff is rude, the rooms filthy and run down. Horrible. Buyer beware. AWFUL. NEVER AGAIN.

The place is huge. And no one under 18 is allow any spa or spa pool time. No housekeeping right now either.No ladies products (tampons) on site and no shuttle to store. Limited dining options during week. Luckily it was great.

The grounds & gardens are nice. There was. long walk from the check in area to my room. Had to drag my luggage from the parking to the room & was exhausted afterwards. The big pool that's advertised is NOT for everyone to use but only for spa guests. If I would've known that, i would've stayed at another hotel. Massages are $160 which is a lot of money. The kids pool was dirty. Room was spacious but not worth the price. San Diego's gaslamp district is about 30 min drive

I know COVID had put a strain on the service industry, but in general our stay was underwhelming for what it cost. Our room wasn't ready when we came to check in, and we came in past the check in time. The grounds are nice, and our room was okay, but everything feels like it needs a refresh. There was also dead rat in the hot tub when we went down to the pool. We had a okay time, but wouldn't go back.

The hotel was average but the experience killed it for us. I just don’t think they are prepared to open up for larger crowds yet due to inexperienced staff. It looked like they had a nice golf course, the spa was nice and relaxing but nothing over top special. The food was exceptional. I’d recommend to eat at their restaurants only. Stay somewhere else and then just eat there. They had a pipe problem with our sink and they didn’t handle it well. They poured what smelled like Clorox down the sink, it stunk up the room, left a stain on the floor and a puddle of black gunk. They used our toiled and left toilet paper on the seat. They used the excuse that they are hiring new people so the mistakes made were because they just didn’t know better. They were nice enough to comp us a night which was nice. Overall the hotel had good amenities but the room was below average.

A fairly mediocre experience, especially for a 4 star hotel… some lowlights:
- People with kids using the adult only pool. Quite a few of them, management doesn't seem to care.
- They can't seem to keep the pool stocked with towels.
- Cafe and bar both close by 3pm sometimes. Getting a drink to enjoy by the pool is fairly inconvenient as you need to walk all the way to the restaurant's bar.
- Noisy hotel, even in their "quiet" wing (greens). Can hear live music from the restaurant, 5 to 9 (goodbye naps!)
- Checked in at 4, the room was not ready. They said they would reach out to let us know when it was, but they never did.
- Furnishings are around 10 years old or so. Some of them could use some tlc as well.
- Ac is loud, heater did not work. Thermostat was in poor shape.
- Checking in didn't provide much information, we were basically left to our own devices to figure things out.
- Noisy rooms. You can hear anyone talking outside, showers and toilets from adjacent rooms, and the neighbors above.
- Hard mattresses.
- One of the restaurants is only open half the week, so we couldn't try it out.
- Still no housekeeping (I guess this is leftover from Covid, but I don't think this is acceptable anymore as of early July 2021)
- Veranda restaurant gives out free water in single use plastic bottles… this is terrible for the environment!
It's not all bad, but seems I ran out of characters for this review.
