Love the location and stuff is excellent, but 1. We book the room with kitchenet but it was on 3rd floor WITHOUT elevator, so we had to change to smaller room, but with nice view. 2. They have a problem with restaurant. There are NO breakfast, instead they have “brunch” that start at 8 am and coming from east coast it is a problem. They do not have real room service and the first day we came they could not seat us for dinner as they were overbooked. 3. Bathroom is tiny and there are NO hooks, none. Nowhere to hang towel.

Close to great.
Great location just a short walk from the craziness of Waikiki. Easy to get from here to other parts of the island. The bed was comfortable, room was cozy. The cold showers were a challenge. Multiple times did we skip a hot or even warm shower.

A very well-managed place, from the front desk to the dining room to the beach services to room service. Located at the much quieter end of Waikiki, it's within easy walking distance of the hubbub but also quiet and serene. I will go back.

The hotel is in a great location. The design is very cool and has a retro vibe. The restaurant serves excellent gourmet food and fun drinks! The staff is very friendly and helpful- everyone from the front desk to housekeeping to the beach attendants! The rooms are a bit small, but they are updated and clean. Paying for an ocean view is worth the extra cost, but the rooms facing Diamondhead or the park probably have nice views too! Definitely recommend the hotel for a quieter spot when staying in Honolulu!

It’s away from the downtown area so it was quiet but super minimal options for food. The restaurant on the property is overpriced and has horrible service. The rooms need to be updated - the room temperature is controlled by an in room air conditioner which ran day and night and never reached the desired temperature. Beachfront, though, so that was a plus. They had beach chairs and umbrellas to rent for free, as well as free sunscreen. Umbrellas weren’t allowed on windy days, which were all the days.

Don't expect any high-end on your holidays.
Very expensive hotel. I expected to have more amenities and comfort in the room. They didn't offer us the bottle of bubbles that hotels.com said in the voucher. The restaurant always was very busy and I couldn't make even a reservation for any of my 3 nights. I had to ask for a kettle and coffee and tea because in the room was nothing. The lobby was good but the rooms and the rest of the hotel needs renovations. The bed was too too too soft. Stuff on the front desk were not very friendly, not a single smile.

The hotel room was clean and nice, I got the king bed suite which had a kitchenette, private room, dining room, and living room. The staff that come to clean do an amazing job! I came home to a freshly made bed and towels every night! There are several items available upon request such as robes, towels, sheets, and toothbrush kits. The check in staff are kind. The only thing is they need to update their listing, it says on Expedia that the stay includes surfing and yoga activities. However, surfing is not an amenity and comes at a FEE that you book with the surfshop. You can do a complimentary paddle boarding class. The yoga classes are also subject to a schedule, which when I called a few weeks back they said I can just schedule a class when I got there, but they have one activity per day on their weekly schedule.

The reason for the five star review is the location, ( steps from the beach and access from Kapiolani Park), and the spectacular view! We had an ocean Waikiki view that was unsurpassed, and enjoyed looking across the curved beach of Waikiki, and also prime viewing for the Friday night fireworks from our spacious lanai. The hotel could use a refresh, but we continue to return for the view.

Jewel of a hotel at the quiet edge of Waikiki
How magical to wake up in the morning to see the sun rising over Diamond Head and end the day sipping a Mai Tai at the Hau Tree Lanai. The Kaimana- a hotel I have known since childhood in the 1970s - is back in a fun, funky/retro jewel of a hotel at the far end of Waikiki. The hotel staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. The Mai Tais could not have been more potent or delicious. My only critique is the bath towels also were a bit retro and reminded me of what we used in our high school gym locker room circa 1981. A bit more thread count would go along way...

The property is right on the beach. It is less crowded than near Waikiki. The area at the beach is protected by reefs and is not as turbulent of a surf. Great area for SUPs, swimmers, snorklers, and families with young kids. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. It is more of a walk to food, restaurants, and parking is expensive. The hotel itself is not modern or updated. It is nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Staff was great- very friendly. Just steps away from the beach and they provide towels and a beach chair to use. There is a small convenience store on the property. The beds are very comfortable. Beautiful views. Located near the Aquarian and the zoo. Both within walking distance. Cons: No parking- you must valet at $40 a night. No coffee or anything nearby to eat unless you eat in their restaurant- which is a locals spot to eat and very expensive. If busy you will need a reservation to eat there. ( yet sits on the beach which is an experience) Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel has great access to a small beach area, which is wonderful. The lobby looks reasonable. The location is not bad - quiet but walkable to Waikiki. The problem lies in the room we stayed in. We are literally in middle of the parking lot - feels like a motel room; and it was not cheap (we paid close 900 usd for two nights). Deeply disappointed. When we ask if we can move to a more reasonable room, we were told it would cost almost 1000usd. Also! No elevator!!! Really think twice before you book.

The location on the beach, across from a park and almost in the shadow of Diamond Head. The Manager Ansera (spelling) and the Brad at the registration desk were particularly helpful. There was also a bar area waitress who was covered with lei’s, working part-time Hau Tree while going to college in HI. She was returning to AZ for her next 2 yrs of college. She was sad to leave because the people with whom she worked at Kaimana were wonderful. The hotel location, away from main Waikiki is perfect !

Lovely accommodations
Kaimana Beach Hotel is a lovely place to stay. Right on the beach, and guests enjoy an open lobby, lanais off their room and an excellent restaurant, Hau Tree Lanai right on the beach. Staff hauled our bags up and down the stairs to our second floor room, which was appreciated. Valet parking at $40 per night is a bit steep, but street parking is really not available and probably not safe.

Very disappointed… the entire beach front was shut down so I was unable to sunbathe or swim on the beach due to a baby seal that had been born. Yes I am happy the wildlife is protected however I thought it was unprofessional that the staff did not notify guests prior to arrival. I paid for an ocean front suite for the sole purpose of being able to walk down to the beach just steps away but instead has to walk 25 mins into downtown onto crowded beaches . I would have stayed in Ko Olina. I am more so upset because I did reach out about this via email and it has been 5 days and I have not received a response … No water is provided in the room. Towels are scratchy. The shower curtain did not properly fit the shower and there was no liner to the shower curtain either so it just got soaked while showering and the entire bathroom floor would get soaked every time… Upon leaving the staff was very aggressive about me checking out they called the room to see if I needed help with the bags and someone even knocked after and asked . I just wanted to pack up and leave my trip in peace not be harassed. Then a maid knocked at 10:55 check out was not until 11. When asking for recommendations for restaurants the desk staff was not very helpful.

Nice boutique class of hotel. Views from room of Waikiki were stunning. Room was tight for space and on the small size. Difficult to manage and access two suitcases. Restaurant and bar food and drink selection was limited in scope and was pricey. Items seemed to more directed for sharing than for individuals. Unable to use the beach as was fenced off due to the Monk seal baby birth situation. One of the reasons we chose to stay at this hotel was because of the access and location to beach area. Obviously disappointed ad this was not accessible. Hotel charged a resort fee for beach chair, towels and bikes. As unable to use the beach felt that the hotel should have offered some kind of credit for none use due to the situation or have charged only for days if chair or towels were used.

Our very nice room was on the second level of the "park wing" overlooking (almost a part of) the parking lot at ground level. Online advertising implies Diamond Head or Park views, but not for the south side of the annex. No impulse to use the lanai since all of the parking lot activity was right there. The fact that the beach was closed off because of monk seal activity (continuing into June 2023) was also a big inconvenience for which the hotel offered no compensation. Overall, a disappointing experiece. We cancelled our return reservations and relocated to the main Waikiki hotel cluster.

Sans Souci Beach wonderful hotel
This hotel had been my standby for O'ahu for a number of years, and it remains excellent under the new ownership. This hotel is outside of the busy, noisy Waikiki district, though within walking distance for meals and activities. It's on a nice, small beach with amazing swimming, some shade, and plausible snorkeling. The hotel has good sparkling and still water service to cut down on bottled water. The Hau Tree restaurant is still okay, though the pricing is too high for the quality. Rooms are great, with partial or full ocean views for many rooms. Staff is friendly, and the feel is genuinely different from the Waikiki hotels.

Rooms with views of Diamond Head or ocean with the a gem of a beach in front makes this place special. The boho decor in the lobby and bar flows thru to the patio restaurant perfect for sunsets and a refined and healthy inventive menu. The accommodations fall short with hallways requiring some upgrade from the 60’s and the empty water feature in the centre of an open sky courtyard. The room we had was more up to date but loud equipment, fans and lack of soundproofing on the mountainside room was disruptive.

The property is beautiful - well maintained and decorated. Amazing views from the restaurant and beach. It had a laundry room which we needed. The disappointment came when we were put in a room on the 2nd floor with no elevator. They offered help to bring our bags up but it was inconvenient and the stairway very narrow. The view was of the parking lot, not Diamondhead as advertised. We were appreciative of the large room and amenities though.

This is a great stay if you are looking to be out of Waikiki but close enough to access restaurants/shopping/beaches in the Waikiki area. Kaimana Beach is literally steps from the hotel, which was the main attraction for us. The actual hotel was very clean, modern, and has a great vibe. Our room was clean and tidy. There is no microwave for leftovers. The employees were very friendly and helpful (thank you Bailey!) and kindly stored our luggage after check-out until our late-night flight (thank you CJ)! There were complimentary cruiser surfboards, towels and chairs we could use. The in-house restaurant, Hau Tree, was just ok. It is very expensive, even for Hawaii standards, and the food was just ok. Alcohol is incredibly expensive. We ate breakfast/lunch at a great eatery called "Barefoot Beach Cafe," about 0.5 miles away. Highly recommend checking this place out! I was surprised such a nice hotel did not have complimentary coffee but there is an adjacent coffee shop where you can get a drip coffee for $6. There's also a little convenience store at the end of the block if you need any snacks.

We were celebrating 25 years Anniversary. We got married on the beach in Haleiwa and we hadn't been back in 3 years due to COVID we both lived in Hawaii most of our lives. My husband is a retired Honolulu Fire Department Battalion Chief. We loved the Kaimana and plan to stay there next October (2023). Mahalo

Nice boutique hotel
Excellent staff! Fabulous dinner at the restaurant. Nice beach but they could use more and better beach chairs. Also need 2 chairs on balcony. Room is small but it does the job. It was hard to use the closet space because of the way the door worked. Nicely updated bathroom. Quiet part of Waikiki was great and nice stroll to the busy crazy part.

The hotel was overall nice enough, older but refurbished. Although the staff was friendly, we had $500 and a credit card stolen from our room. I called and reported it to the manager and they claim nothing out of the normal happened. I know that the only time my money was outside my possession was when it was taken from my room. The credit card was used the same day I noticed it was missing, and it was charged just down the road from the hotel. It is disappointing that you can’t feel safe enough to leave your belongings in your room.

Have stayed here several times. First time with some negative experiences - 1. Room in OLD wing of hotel; no view, no elevator, stairway very dark. 2. Check-in not till late in the day.

This property was so involved in making sure you had the best stay. The front desk employees always felt super welcoming and had suggestions on things to do, they will text you to let you know about activities in the area, festivals, or free classes the hotel provides. The room was so clean, and though the property looks a little older in points, it is still immaculate in cleanliness.

Classic Waikiki
Kaimana feels like a class is Waikiki hotel stay. The service is tremendous at the front desk, bell desk, hostess stand, and table side.
