Stuffy
Rooms were stuffy with little air movement. The bathroom smelled like old cigarette smoke. The staff were very friendly and responded to questions. Probably not staying at this hotel again.

The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very clean. The amenities were good. Clean towels, etc etc.
The Bistro was opened twice on my 6 night stay. It would have been nice to stop by and enjoy a drink any night that we would have liked but it’s understandable as to why it was closed. Overall stay was good.

Overall this was a descent hotel but the shower tile was old and falling apart in areas and lighting in the bathroom was poor.

Room Needs Renovating
I had a good stay overall, but the room was not in good shape. The glass shower door seal at the bottom was coming off so the door didnt want to seal shut all the way, the light on the ceiling right inside the main door to the room was flickering and making a loud noise when on, and the light on the side of the bed didnt turn on and off with the switch, you had to screw and unscrew the bulb to use it. Please check these things and fix them before having people stay in a room in that shape.
Other than the room issues, the staff was great, and the hotel itself was fine.

A must stay
This was my first time in Newport News. The room was nice and clean. Bed was extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. The shower was huge.

I love the Marriott hotels. I always get a spotless, comfortable, classy room. The location is ideal, with good restaurants located nearby. The staff gets top marks, especially a young lady named Tamoya or something like that, I have family in the area, and I plan to stay at the Marriot every time!

Our stay was comfortable. The room was spaciously adequate and the hotel front desk staff was very pleasant and professional. However, when we arrived in our room the toilet was running...very loud. The front desk sent a maintenance tech to fix the toilet. The toilet was fixed in a timely manner. The technician was also professional.

The bed sucked. It was hard as a rock. I could not sleep. Teenagers or young adults knocking on doors and running. Best thing about hotel was the hot tub.

The property was cleaned and updated. The hot tub was not as hot. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. The room was clean and spacious but there weren’t prepared enough pillows, towels, or coffee for the number of people identified in the booking but they promptly addressed them when we requested them.

Very nice stay. Bistro closes at 9:30 which is not convenient if you are a late riser, especially on vacation. Had to go elsewhere. Staff friendly, helpful and professional.

Would not recommend
First. I had to switch rooms because the room smelled like smoke and I have health issues. I was able to switch immediately. But then the air conditioning stopped working and we moved to a second room. The carpet smelled and they only clean every 7 days. We checked out the next day and went to the Marriot City Center where they clean every other day and it smelled cleaned as soon as you walked in. Staff was much more pleasant at the City Center also.

I tripped on sidewalk n dislocated my toe not enough light outside. Clean up fee was way to expensive it cost more than the room. I do understand the petals n candles n bottles had to trashed but the clean up was more than the cost of the room that is ridiculous!!!! Btw I ended up the er that night from the trip. Check the cameras n I also had a special boot on when I came back to the hotel. Please get better lightening

Staff was great and friendly, beds were comfortable, bathroom was awesome. The only thing is that the air conditioning was broke and we sweated all night but was able to get full refund. They said sorry and it was unforeseen and they fried to fix but I still had to find another motel on second night . We did get 3 fans. Oh and didn’t like that you had to buy your own breakfast.

The staff was excellent. Gigi was superb! She assisted us at check in and was very genuine in her communications with us.
We worked with Toya when we left and she was excellent as well. Both employees behavior stood out.
The hot tub was broken and the weight room area was lacking for this type facility.

We stayed here for part of our anniversary tour, we were greeted by a warm, welcoming staff person named Stephanie. We used the contactless sign in and went straight to our room. We received a knock on the door and too our surprise Stephanie blessed us with non-alcoholic wine and delicious strawberries. That was an unexpected treat and we enjoyed it...Thanks Stephanie and company for making our stay the best hotel stay in 3 years.

No hospitatality
If you are looking for the hospitatality Marrriott is known for, don't stay at this hotel. Sure, the rooms are nice and the hotel is comfortable but, the aminities they advertise are closed. They have a really cool bistro and I have enjoyed it many times. These days it is open from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a drink or coffee. Everything else is closed and if you ask the answer is always "no."
If you are looking for a cool hotel, blow this one off...I didn't bother to stay for the full time of my reservation. I checked out a day early and didn't even ask for a credit. Anything to get out of that hotel.......

Hotel was very nice and staff was excellent. Honestly, the most impressive thing was how well the room was lit! Most hotel rooms are so dark, but this one had several lamps and lights qmd was great!

While the room was nice and there were plenty of towels, there was only 1 shampoo and conditioner for 3 women. Also, the bathroom light is wired to a switch by the front door. Couldn't figure out how to turn on the bathroom light in the middle of the night because the main room lights were turned off.

The hotel was really sub-pair for a Courtyard. It has a moldy smell to it and it is just not clean. My bathroom had hair on the ground the moment we walked in. There were only 2 towels and no-one made up our room. Breakfast is depressing (not even fresh milk or half-and-half). Finally they didn't even have shampoo - so everyone was given extra conditioner (?!!!?!).

It was so noisy at night. Doors slamming half the night. Children running and screaming in room above us until late. The elevator was smeary and never cleaned all the time we were there, being four days. Trash cans in lobby area always full.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! If I could give this hotel negative 5 stars I would! There was mold in the showers and the rooms had a funny smell. I literally had a rash after taking a shower because there was mold on the shower head. I only stayed one night out of the 3 nights booked because of how dirty the hotel was. I demanded a refund but they refused and tried to tell us the mold was just a dark mark. I have pictures of the mold and even wiped it off with a wash cloth. We currently have a case being worked up with my lawyers because of me getting sick and a rash after saying there. The staff was also EXTREMELY unprofessional

This hotel doesn’t have cribs though the description says they do. We requested extra comforters and the desktop never called us. The room was smelling cigarettes and the towels were full of hair. The room was $200 a night and I paid for 2 rooms. The breakfast was a joke, no coffee available and no water. Very disappointing

This hotel should not be open at this time. There is no food available on site, no pool access, no daily room cleaning or fresh towels. Barely there air conditioning and moldy bathrooms. We booked here because we thought these amenities would be available. The pandemic is winding down and cannot be used as an ongoing excuse.
On top of that, they tried to charge $5 for a 12 ounce bottle of water. I'd NEVER stay here again.

This Courtyard by Marriott is definitely one of my favorite go-to hotels when I am in town visiting family. The staff is very friendly and always made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed! The room/bathroom were very clean and they gave moist wipes for any additional disinfecting. I also feel the beds were pretty comfortable as well. The wifi here was great and has been each time Ive stayed. Definitely a good "work from anywhere" location as I am an entrepreneur, Instagram: @DemetriaScenie. Many convenient restaurants within walking distance or a very short drive.

In a great lication but it was so dirty. Our shower had a handful of hair in it and so did the floor of the bathroom. Once reported staff did clean it but it was after I'd used it because i had an engagement pending.

It was in a great location. I expected it to be better kept though. We never received cleaning service. We had to go to the front desk and get towels each night. They never emptied our trash or anyone elses- so much so that the hallways were full of trash by the trashcans. The pool was closed still as well as the gym and Strabucks.Even with the mask mandate lifted- this stuff was still closed. It was really disappointing. The sheets had a blood stain on them, the sofa had dried up (what I assume to be taco meat) on the cushion. We had a view of the townhomes behind us. It was quiet as long as you closed the bathroom door. When the bathroom door was open you could hear babies crying, people yelling, and talking through the floor and ceiling.
