There is a couple of restaurants to choose from and was overpriced; we ate outside of the property, which has great options in walking distance.
The staff was not as pleasant , would not give us the exact amount of their incidental fees. We had a corner room; it was extremely small and awkward. The bed was in the middle of a limited space. There are other options; just make sure you do not choose the corner room. Would not allow us to change to a comparable-priced room that allowed more space. Tight space for sure. We have stayed at W's many times before first time experiencing challenged customer service.

I arrived at 11 p.m and was told the hotel was oversold. They made me go to another hotel about 10 miles away….
This move totally defeated the purpose of my trip.
I have never had this happen before and I hold Hotels.com responsible..and will never use your service again.

We had issues with the ac unit cooling the room. We had two employees come up and check the ac and everything seemed to be working, unfortunately I was unaware the window behind the curtains was slightly cracked which was allowing the cool air to escape. I didn’t discover his window until checkout and I think this is a big reason we were unable to sleep and the room was unable to cool down.
My biggest issue is the access to the pool. We had 16 people staying at the property for the Cowboys game. The doorman “james” refused to let us access the only bar/breakfast area before we left for the game. Also the previous day we had the same issue with the door guy allowing us access to the pool due to us wearing “cowboys” gear. The rules need to be posted or a little more defined especially for guests staying at the hotel.

Pool policy and loud noisy people
The pool has a ridiculous policy that you can not get an umbrella unless you purchase bottle service. There were more than 30 umbrellas stored away and zero shade on a 115 degree day in Scottsdale. There were less than 20 people in the whole pool area and only 2 of us and we were not going to spend $350-400 dollars to use an umbrella.
Later that night we were woken up 3 times after 1am, 2am and 3 am by loud drunk people in the hallway outside of our hotel room.

Hotel was very nice and great staff with the exception of a rude gentleman at check in. He was very arrogant during check in two days in a row (once for myself and the other for friends). Hotel was extremely pricey and caught us off guard both for the room and the bars/restaurants on the property.

Staff are very rude. Politely requested assistant general manager to close front doors since we were freezing on Saturday night, and he said "will take you feedback into consideration" in a stern and military tone. Guests should not be treated that way. He was acting as though he was speaking to a drunk night club patron.

Great location but overpriced.
The w hotel is in a great location. Close to the action in Scottsdale. It has a nice pool and gym.
However I do not believe the hotel is in the condition to justify its current price. A little dated, bathroom in room uncomfortable. The big screen tv with easy access to stream was a positive. And it was nice the room has a decent sized desk.
What they don’t tell you is that at checking they charge a 60% incidental hold. Yes 60% of the total booking. A bit ridiculous. On site dining is ok. I felt the menu was a little limited.

The hotel is in a great location in the Old Town area. On the weekend this is a party hotel. Great Bar and pool. If you are looking for a place for fun this is it. If you are looking for quiet and a relaxed location this might not be what you are looking for.

The W will most likely be my go to in Scottsdale. Overall it was a great stay, with lively bars , restaurants and a great pool. Love the living room concept lobby lounge and most everything else about the property. The only negative, and something easily corrected was the the water temperature at the pool. It was freezing! And I mean freezing! To the point that hardly anyone could get in. They need to pay closer attention. Obviously someone could have changed the temperature. And it was quite noticeable when it’s 90 degrees out and nobody is in the pool.I guess we should have complained, but it’s not my norm. Neither is this review.

This Hotel has such loud music heard in the rooms that doesn’t allow you to relax, forget about being able to sleep at night ! It was a horrible experience ! We had to find another hotel and move on the night of our check in around 10 pm because it was SOOOO LOUD !
They didn’t even consider a refund !!! I am very upset and disappointed

3rd party bookings frowned upon at this hotel
We booked a King Room, which costs more than a double, and upon check in we’re told the hotel was sold out and we were pushed to the bottom of the list for King Rooms BECAUSE we booked through hotels.com. We had the option of a handicap accessible room with no doors on the water closet or shower (we were not told the toilet room had no door upon check in) or a double room. The accessible room did not work for us and the double room was tired. It’s clear this is a part hotel for 21 year olds who think they’re fancy. It’s not a nice place to stay and relax if you’re past that stage in your life OR you expect good service. Don’t even bother booking on this site for this hotel, they do not value 3rd party bookings and you will be made to feel incredibly unimportant. The service we received was so bad that we decided to leave even though we booked a non-refundable room.

We did not enjoy our stay at the W hotel. We did not sleep a wink either night! We were aware that it is a ‘party’ hotel from Wed/Thurs thru to Sunday, which is why we avoided these nights. We checked in on a Monday and left on Wednesday. There was music playing so loud from bars across the street that it literally shook our entire room. For the amount that we paid to stay there, this was very disappointing. Also, as a gold member with Expedia this hotel did not offer any extra amenities, room upgrade, etc. Highly disappointed and will not be recommending.

Small rooms, noisy neighborhood. Tractor work on project next door at 6:45am. Bars start blasting music at midnight on a Tuesday. If you like thump, thump, thump noise late at night this is the place for you.

We LOVED our stay at the W! The room was spacious and gorgeous. We we given a king bed room instead of 2 queens by mistake and the customer service helped right away! Also on our way home, the Lyft to the airport changed their time and would have made us late so an employee drove us in their car so we wouldn’t miss our flight. Very kind and very customer service forward!! Will stay here again!

If you’re looking to do anything other then party this isn’t the hotel for you. The pool is catered to outside paying guests over its own hotel guests. There was 6 day beds to claim and you best be there before 10am to claim one. Otherwise you’ll be sat in the shade where you don’t get any exposure to sun. The pool food was sub par. Our chicken tenders look like they came from a box in the frozen isle at the grocery store. Aside from our pool experience our tv streaming service broke 2 nights in a row, the tech team was “baffled” for the reasoning as they couldn’t find a solution. The room itself was tiny, we couldn’t even lay out 2 basic size suitcases. We actually decided to end our stay 2 days in because of all our issues. Upon calling front desk multiple times during our second evening to help fix our issues they proceeded to tell us we can go ahead and check out then. Asking where they would like us to go, they mentioned a motel down the street. Mind you this was at 7ish pm. The audacity. Over all, unless you want to party and listen to the pools blaring music till 2am from your room, i high recommend choosing elsewhere to stay.

I stayed a total of three nights.
The property is nice it definitely is a party hotel.
The area is very convenient a lot of restaurants bars nightclubs all within walking distance.
For this to be a W property my first time staying at one I wasn’t pleased with the room for me it was extremely basic of the beds were not as comfortable as I would’ve expected and I did have a bit issues with the sink and toilet being backed up but other than that it was OK. The one thing I would say I did not like was the pool area only had 14 or so lounge chairs for guest. So in essence you’re almost forced to buy a bottle to lounge on their day beds. I think as a hotel guess if you’re spending that much money to stay at the hotel you should be accommodated a bit more when being at the pool area. I would visit this property next time I’m in Arizona but I wouldn’t stay here again. Notable mention to the valet attendant who was extremely nice.

Would Not Stay Here Again
Not sure where to start but we did not have a good experience from start to finish at this hotel. Went here for a girls trip this past weekend and ended up paying about $1400 per night for a suite. First off, the room was location was terrible and we couldn't sleep half of the night due to a ranging club right below us. It was so incredibly loud, I got on maybe 4 hours of sleep per night. There was a kitchen in the room but absolutely zero cups so we had nothing to drink out of the whole trip. There was never enough towels for all of us so we had to call down. They didn't even fill up our coffee after the first night so we had to keep calling down because every morning we needed more. We booked bottle service at the pool party and they tried to give us a crappy table different from the picture the concierge sent me, I had to discuss with the manager to get moved. They also charged me to put extra names on the room which they didn't inform me they would be doing ahead of time. They try to charge you for internet, so you have to call and complain to get it removed. Even then the internet didn't work for us one single time the whole trip on anyone's phone. Half the times we called down to the 'whatever, whenever' service line, no one picked up. The one breakfast place they have in the building was very overpriced and the food was terrible. You can't even order a latte there as they only have black coffee. If you have a luxury hotel, this is not the place to stay.

Bed was horrible!!! Hard as rock. Scratchy sheets. Hotel is definitely showing its age. Mixed exeperiencs with staff, some were amazing and some were very cocky and rude. Pool area was amazing. Do not bring your children. This is a party motel and has a club vibe day and night. Cocktails were nothing special. Sushi restaurant was great and all the managers and servers there were fantastic.

It was absolutely a great place to stay most definitely recommended it's in a perfect location the pool party was absolutely wonderful and there's so many bars and eating spots around and also the fashion center mall.
And most importantly if you ever have any issues at the hotel most definitely look for a guy named Bryce he will for sure take care of you

The other reviews made me nervous but I loved it here! I don’t think the rooms were too small and there was a good amount of closet space. Staff was all great (give or take a bartender or two) and very friendly upon arrival. The 18 free pool chairs at the hotel might be a little annoying but it was so hot when we were there we spent the entire time in the pool. Raul was great and think the pool side service plus safety of belongings there is a real plus. Much more upscale than other pool parties. I would definitely return. It’s also convenient location to nightlife and restaurants.

They charged us for wifi, which we did not use. And random lounge charges to our room we did not make. I tried to contact the hotel, they said that would take care of it, which they have not. Having my credit card company try and fix things at this point. Will never stay again.

We were in town and chose The W due to its pool, vibrant atmosphere, and proximity to all of the hot spots in Scottsdale. We had a horrible check in experience. We arrived at noon and were told there was no early check in options. So, at 3pm (check in time) we were told that our suite was not ready. We had two options 1. Check into an accessible room (that was exactly the same with the exception of "bars" in the restroom) 2. Wait indefinitely for the room we paid for over a month ago.
We had early dinner plans so we decided take option 1. To our surprise the room was a down grade. Not the same and not what we paid for. When we spoke with management they had a horrible attitude and basically told us we were stuck with that room. They optioned to comp us $100 (which I politely declined). The bait and switch tactic was extremely rude and unprofessional. A total disappointment.

Overpriced frat house
Our stay was a bit disappointing. My wife and I have a tradition of having staycations at the W where ever we live. (We live around the world for work) and we’re usually very satisfied. This is the first time we stayed at the W in Scottsdale and it want at all like our previous experience. It was kind of like staying at a frat house. I understand that the lounge, lobby and pool are loud, but even the hallway was loud and we heard every noise in our room. I didn’t sleep at all because of all the noise.
The next morning we ordered breakfast in bed, which was very expensive. Which I usually don’t mind, but I for example had avocado toast, and the avocado was brown, which probably means it has been sitting for a while. Not what I expected from a $90 breakfast for 2.
This experience has made me never want to stay at a W hotel again. They did sent us an email that the lounge can be noisy, but they sent it a few days before our stay and we had no way of canceling or changing our plans. They should tell you this as a disclaimer before you book.
Finally, I get that there is a pool party going on, but with COVID you would think they were a bit more strict. It’s a small pool, with a ton of people packed in there without masks. (Which I get because it’s a pool, but they should’ve limited capacity)
On the positive, the bed was really comfy.

I swear by W Hotel. Better yet, I would stay here again.
We had 3 rooms for 4 nights. There’s was not one day that either of those rooms were cleaned.
Upon checking out, I told the lady up front that I was disappointed that the rooms were never serviced.
Her response is to why I am writing this review. “Um, well sorry. We don’t have enough staff during this weekend. We were sold out. We only serviced The Elite Members and penthouses.”
Enough said.

The Bad:
The plastic cover on the RFID door key housing was broken, the toilet ran constantly, rubber weather stripping on the inside of the window was hanging down, there was bread behind the bed headboard. Tried to call front desk 9 times before I gave up and had to personally get housekeeping, (went to VM, as did concierge).
Room service got my breakfast completely wrong. They said they didn’t have Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi,
The Good: location is amazing for the Bars and Clubs in Old Town. Staff was friendly and courteous (clearly understaffed) when you were able to get ahold of them.
Conclusion: Great hotel if you don’t want to drive or Uber to the bars and don’t mind paying a premium for sub-premium accommodations. If location isn’t a critical factor, try the Omni Montelucia. It’s just outside of Scottsdale, but the property, amenities and service is impeccable.

Staff is great and have good customer service. Our room was on the small side but had a balcony. The bathroom sink took some time to drain and toilet handle had to be put back into place after each flush. Otherwise we had a great stay and would return.
