Room overlooked atrium which is nice. Clean and nice looking property. Staff helpful. Pillows were too hard. My 8 year old grandson said the same thing about the pillows. Disappointed that the Mainsail dining room was not open for dinner. Most hotels I’ve stayed in have information in the room as to what amenities are available, I.e. restaurants, bars, and their hours. There was no info in our room. Check-in and check-out quick and easy.

LIked almost everything, including water view room and king bed. Breakfasts were very good. Baked items at the Skiff Bar were also excellent. Only didn't like was area by pool much too warm and humid so didn't bother getting out my bathing suit.

The property is beautiful with great views. The spa was super as was the restaurant, we enjoyed sitting around the fountain at the end of the day in their hanging chairs with an after dinner drink.

Overall it was a nice hotel with friendly staff. Dining options were a little limited. Coffee bar did not open until 7:00. A few homeless people seem to have easy access to the property and not be addressed by staff members. When we tried to do early check in, the registration person forgot about us. But I would stay here again.

I will rate the Valet Staff as EXCELLENT.
The room was clean and comfortable.
The front desk experience was VERY POOR. The middle aged women (wearing a mask) who signed me in was NOT hospitable. I felt like I was putting her out. She was not friendly or kind at all.
Why, oh why, are the front doos to a $1000/night hotel not automatic..?? TWICE we had to hold the doors for a women pushing her husband in a wheelchair...STAFF...??
Yes, I know you have a small "wheelchair entry" push tab, by law. But really???
I am 70 years old and had trouble getting out and in with my bags.
Not staying here again...not recommending, either.

Room was noisy. Food left in fridge from previous occupants. Tv did not work. Main restaurant closed and bar understaffed and unable to provide food in timely manner. $30 credit explained poorly so thought available for length if stay not to be used same day. Lobby swing chairs in terrible shape. Desk staff not too helpful. Great location but Disappointing for a Marriott and high price paid!

This is a poor value. The property is very tired and my most lasting impressions are how outrageous the room rate was for the quality of the property and how surley the folks at the front desk were when I asked for a room change based on my request made when I booked (high floor, not fronting on the atrium).

Our room was extremely expensive - yet when I opened the shades, the room was internally facing with a view of the elevators. This was uncomfortable and made my experience less enjoyable.

Great location! Walkable to the wharf, with many shops, restaurants, and charter boats nearby. Hotel was clean, restaurants and bar on site. The Plank cafe was slow in a.m. for coffee & food; they needed 2 people working there. We also had a few issues getting our car from valet (couldn’t find keys, couldn’t find car, etc)

Beautiful, good location. Book in advance for breakfast, otherwise find a restaurant nearby. Kids enjoyed the indoor pool. Valet parking very easy, about $40/day.

The terraces are indoor terraces facing the atrium. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to park yourself in and outside the property. You are right across from the water, and can walk to everything. "Main" restaurant did not serve dinner, only "bar" restaurant.
Downside: stairs on both sides to get into lobby from street. Desk chair in room weighed a ton. One cabinet door was falling off hinge. A required daily resort fee was ludicrous and paid for nothing. Little natural light in room.

The location is excellent, however the first room we were given looked out upon the elevator lobby. Kudos to the front desk staff for finding a better room for us. The website said there was a pool & hot tub (the main reason we chose this hotel), however we discovered the hot tub or "whirlpool" has been out of service for nearly a year!
For the price we paid I don't believe it was worth it.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. It was very clean and well maintained, and the location was convenient. Hotel staff was very friendly. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was excellent, but quite pricey. The only issue was that the room we booked online was supposed to be a "King bed, balcony and water view" - and we were given a handicapped accessible room (did not request this) that did have a balcony, but no water view. In fact, it appeared that all of the balconies overlooked an interior courtyard/meeting space rather than any kind of outdoor view. Also, we did not receive housekeeping service until late afternoon, which was a bit inconvenient as we had returned to the room at that time. Other than those issues, the hotel was great and we would return there again.

The location of the property was great and the valet was a nice added touch. I found the concierge to lack interpersonal skills, especially for a client facing role. The one reason I would not return to this hotel is because I left a pair of Lululemon leggings and sweatshirt in the bathroom of my hotel room. Sophie, the concierge, really offered no help other than to go to ileftmystuff.com. I filled out the form 2 days ago and have not heard back. When I called concierge I was met with Sophie again and all she had to say it could take a few days. I really hope I get my clothing items back as they were gifts and I feel awful for leaving them behind. If not, I hope some staff member is enjoying a brand new outfit. Nice hotel, but don't leave your belongings because you will likely never see then again.

The hotel is nautical themed in a fun and unique way. All of the inner rooms have balconies open to the lobby which is a fun way to watch comings and goings. Our room was clean with comfortable beds and tastefully decorated. Thames Street shopping is only minutes away as are a number of restaurants. There is valet parking for $30 a day or public parking in a lot next adjacent to the hotel. I would readily stay there again!

I like the room because it was very clean as well as the bathroom. It has the gym and the pool open very early in the morning. The only think I didn’t like was for what we paid for the room it should had breakfast included.

It looked like we were on a cruise from the inside it was absolutely beautiful and so was the room and the bathroom. The balcony overlooking the hotel was so nice too and the shower was beautiful as well nice and big.

not recommended for claustrophobic people
We booked via hotels.com. when booking we didn't choose a discounted room or a deal; we paid full amount for a room with 2 queen beds. However, we didn't know that their rooms have no windows looking to outside. Our room's "window" was opening directly to the elevators. The noise of elevator getting open and close all night, didn't allow us to sleep. We asked the management to change our room (even upgrade, if needed), but they told us they are fully booked! We love Newport, but this will be the last time we stayed at Marriot Newport. If you are claustrophobic be very careful. Make sure you book knowing what you get. We stayed a few nights, paid a lot of money, while we probably could get a better room (at least with a window looking outside) with other hotels in the area with the same money we paid to Marriot. We are not sure whether booking via Hotels.com was the reason that we didn't get better attention from the hotel's front desk. Not sure about that. Perhaps better to contact the hotel directly and book, this way if you really want to stay at Marriot, you will know what you get in advance.

Mediocre hotel, did not live up to expectations.
Shocking service at check in, we booked two rooms and they argued with us we only booked one. They also told us the fault was with Hotels.com and took no responsibility for their mistake. They eventually relented when I produced the confirmation email but we received no apology. It is extremely costly for what it is. Valet parking is $40 a day. Restaurant is mediocre at best. Rooms are comfortable but not luxurious- at this price they should. Service was also not attentive at all. Central to all the Newport amenities which is why they can charge so much. We stayed for two weeks, would not stay again.

To start the valet gouged by rear bumper taking the suitcases out of the suv. He apologized but the damage is done. We had to wait over an hour after check in to get our rooms and I had to keep checking on them because they never reached out to me when they were ready. The floors in the rooms were wet and pretty much remained damp for our stay. One of the rooms had the view of the elevator hallway so forget about natural light in the room. The day the maid cleaned the room she picked up the towels we left on the floor for her to change and hung them back up in the bathroom. That’s after I gave her $10 tip when we left the room. The pool was dirty and no one was there to make sure kids weren’t jumping into the pool and creating a dangerous environment. Had to be super careful with my four year old in the pool. The first day when we went to have breakfast everything was good even though it took a long time to get the food. The second day by the time they brought our breakfast to the table everything was cold. So we had cold eggs and bacon that day. We’ve been going to this Marriott for over seven years and it wasn’t because it was inexpensive it was because the service was always good and the staff kept a tidy hotel. Sad to say this is another one of those things you blame on COVID for the change but what it really is that management has dropped the ball. We won’t be returning to this hotel. For $650-$850 a night I can find a better hotel then this.

Can’t judge a hotel by its look!
Very Disappointing -You can’t judge a book by it’s cover. The hotel looks nice but the accommodations were subpar. The chair in the room was excessively nasty filthy and completely covered in stains. The curtains had stains on them also. Found a smashed bug on the bed pillow. The Front desk was uninformed about the hotels amenities. Awoke to no power on one side of room.

First the staff was efficient and friendly. The property was clean and lovely. The location was perfect. We walked to several activities and restaurants. Make sure you have a drink at the Skiff Bar patio. Would happily return.

Newport Marriott is located in the prime location, only couple of minutes walk from downtown area, shopping mall, and all the good stuff of Newport. The hotel has spacious lobby, a beautiful fountain and a humongous Atrium.
The hotel has valet parking only with unlimited in and out through out the day, excellent deal for Newport as parking spots are luxury in the downtown area.
For our stay, we loved our room, quality beds and pillows, huge smart TV with cable, bathroom was spacious, great water pressure in shower.
The lows of our stay was we had booked two rooms, but we got to know only one was reserved, but the hotel managed to find us another room. We didn’t get any room service for two days due to staff shortage, our rooms were a mess. We were not offered any kind of compensation for the lack of service from the hotel. They also lost power for an hour one night.
Even though it’s one of the nicest looking Marriott we have been to, experience wise it was one of the bottom ones for us. Luckily Marriott has no other competition in the area, so guests are forced to stick with them in Newport.

Very disappointing. Checked in. Went up to room which was a bay view only to find someone else in the room. Embarrassing that we walked in on people ! Carried luggage back downstairs only to have to wait 20 min for a new room. Our bay view expensive room was of a dumpster and people on smoke breaks. Oh a little bit of the bay. Dry dissatisfied!!!

This is a miserable excuse for an upscale property with a poor set of excuses. Reception is up a longish set of stairs, not so convenient for roller suitcases -- ramp entrance is through the otherwise inaccessible garage. They don't clean the rooms -- you even have to ask for clean towels. The thermostats don't work so you have to take whatever temperature they're set at. This might be tolerable at a Motel 8, but this Marriott purports to be an upscale resort hotel.

Couldn't get coffee in lobby in afternoon. Many other facilities I've stayed at have coffee available in lobby ALL day. Otherwise service was good. Valets were very courteous and helpful.
