Room needed some attention
We love this hotel normally, but hadn’t been here for several years due to cost. But we splurged for a big celebration! While we had a great time, the room needed a a bit of updating. The bathroom had some bad floor tiles and was a bit worn looking. One of the windows was broken and could be opened but not closed unless one of us pushed from the outside. The grounds were beautiful as usual and we enjoyed eating at Rita’s.

Hotel was nice, room was very spacious with nice amenities. I was not aware, and the resort should probably make this visible on their website, the “adult” hot tub was broken, and hoppin jacks and the fitness center were both under construction. The staff were very courteous and accommodating. The vibe was old men with sweatshirts tied around their necks, which probably is a good segue into the only downside of this resort. While the spa was rated highly, the prices were astronomical, $300 for a 60 min massage. I also asked to use the pool while my wife was getting a massage and I was told I would have to buy a $50 day pass. You would think I could use the facilities since we were staying there and we booked a massage for my wife (fitness center was free due to the other one being out for construction), but I guess they needed the extra $50. To be clear, $50 a day for a mediocre fitness room 2 lane pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room sounds like something an old man with a sweatshirt tied around his neck would buy.

5 Stars - Would stay again!
This property is gorgeous! The location is right in the heart of Paradise Valley and easily accessible. My best friend and I stayed there for a few days. We had an issue with our original room and the resort immediately changed our room and moved our luggage to the new room. Customer service was excellent in that regard! Our room was spacious and comfortable. The property is sprawling. You can walk to places within the property or you can request a golf cart to pick you up and bring you to your destination. We played golf at the Camelback Country Club Golf Course down the road. There was a shuttle service that takes you to and from the golf course and the resort. We played pickleball and reserving it was pretty easy. We ate at the steakhouse as well as Rita's Cantina. The food and service was excellent. I would definitely come back.

My transitional Retreat
I am glad I chose to stay at the JW Marriott resort and spa hotel, it was a wonderful experience.
The condos were quiet and beautifulity decorated, loved walking around and enjoyed the garden. The pool and food was excellent 👍.

Whoever we talked to were very helpful throughout resort. They wanted you to feel welcomed and we definitely would stay there again.

Unfortunately we stayed one night that ruined our appointments for Saturday morning which really sucked since the whole reason why we even flew to Arizona from Seattle for these appointments. My husband and I woke up first thing in the morning and went to the bathroom as usual and I began to scream because there was multiple cockroaches over an inch long in the bathroom running all over the place. We ended up killing one and my husband trapped one and because I was screaming so much as we open the door to our king suite casita. The maintenance was already outside, asking if we were OK which obviously I was not, I understand we’re not from Arizona, but we do travel there very frequently every other month or so and have been doing so the last three or four years. This is the first time we’ve ever had a hotel where there was cockroaches inside and it freaked me out . Maintenance laughed at me and I went to the front desk and was very kind and told them I could not stay another day after they offered $150 off my stay and to go spray the room with bug spray which they did while we were at breakfast and when my husband and I went back 30 minutes after the room smelled like raid, we packed up and shook out our things. There was still parts of the dead cockroach on the floor even though they picked up the body. I was thoroughly grossed out for being a Marriott. checked out and had to cancel all our plans for a vacation away from our children and changed hotels instead.

Perfect desert getaway
We stayed in a King casita with extra large balcony. Everything was exceptional, though if the cost is a stretch for you, maybe stay in a lower priced room and make use of the beautiful grounds. The large extra balcony was nice but the furniture was sparse, there was bird poo on the chairs (to be expected, there are lots of birds whose chirping is lovely ambiance), and there was not a movable lounge umbrella, so we couldn't really use the large balcony during the day.
The dining options were delicious and had wonderful healthy options. Having a Starbucks on site was great. The mini fridge and microwave was also useful to have. We went to the spa, which was a little overpriced for the services. Overall we loved staying here but likely would have picked a lower end room, saved a bit of money, and still had a great getaway.

Loved the views and access to the parking area / pool.
only improvement, the business center was quite small and maybe more smaller break out meeting rooms for those that need to do some work. i was not able to use my lap top in the conference rooms, since i was not there for a convention. i could only use my hotel room when where my wife and children were sleeping and needed some alone time for work.

Excellent accommodations and property located in a beautiful area in Phoenix/Scottsdale.

Hadn't been back to Camelback in about 20 years. It was a nice reminder of why I fell in love with it the first time. Although our room could use a little freshening up, the spa, restaurant and amenities are perfection! Great visit!

This property is 5 Star! From the cleanliness, the incredible staff and the food! Live music on the patio at nights was lovely as well. We will definitely be returning to this resort - but this time we will bring the whole family. The grandkids would love the pool area!

Incredibly beautiful. Enjoyed restaurants. Considering the price we paid, Disappointed with how small the room was, how easy it was to hear next door conversations/snoring, and that we didn’t receive replenishments for toiletries despite staying for 3 nights.

Why we will return every year:
This was our second consecutive post-Christmas trip to the Camelback Inn, and we love it so much we plan to make it an annual tradition. It is beautiful, comfortable and relaxed. Importantly, it is not the least bit snooty.

We were charged twice for entire stay!
We were charged twice. We paid through Hotels.com, and that was acknowledged when we checked in. But when we received our invoice upon checkout we saw that we were charged again! It wasn’t easy to get this removed, as we had already left and were in our way to the airport. The front desk person was clearly not knowledgeable about check out procedures!

I booked our stay at the JW Camelback 6 weeks in advance on Expedia to celebrate our Anniversary. I selected a king room. When we arrived they told us there were no King rooms left unless we wanted to move halfway into our stay. I showed them my confirmation of booking a King room. The clerk said those confirmations guarantee us a room but that the specific type of room is just a request and is based on availability with no guarantee. So we had to spend our anniversary in a room with 2 queens. Other than this big disappointment, the resort was very nice, very quiet, and very enjoyable.

We absolutley adored our casita room with private porch and super comfortable king sized bed. The layout was spacious and had great architectural details. The surrounding landscape was so beautiful that we slept with our curtains open so we could wake up to the view! The shower was fabulous as well. Our only complaint is that the room smelled a little musty, but it was very very clean. We chalked it up to it being an older property.

Room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning would not drop down cool enough. Also there was no hair dryer or coffee cups and coffee in the room though the valet was quick to bring it to the room but then I had to tip him for what should have already been in the room.

Unique. The hotel is spread out so it's not just one big building. There's a hiking trail, spa, golf course, biking and other fun things to do on property. Food was excellent at all places we ate. Avocado toast at Sprouts was RIDICULOUS. Best food of the trip.
Negatives, they screwed our reservation and it took me emailing the manager off the entire resort to get it sorted out. The pool in our casita was cloudy and dirty.

This property was very clean and very nice. Service was fantastic! Jeffery at the pool was AMAZING and probably one of the best waiters I have ever had. He was so good we went to the steakhouse to sit in his section just so we could have him again. I only wish we didn’t find him on our last day.

althought the views are amazing, this property is so dated and tired. I found the rooms to be varied, unfortunately ours was the worst in the group. Food and service is average, amenities barely worth mentioning. Better places to stay in Scottsdale.

You don’t get what you pay for!
I was disappointed that when you book thru Hotels.com and pick/pay for a king bed option and arrive at the hotel and all they have is a double queen for you and your guests TO SAY THE LEAST - THIS SWITCH AND BAIT METHOD JUST STINKS!
I purposely picked a king room because I prefer the layout of the room. I was told by the check in attendant that because I booked thru Hotels.com I am not entitled to that room, Hotels.com is a third party scheduler and gets no choice. Basically, I get what they give me and sorry not sorry.

Great hotel except for the pools
Good hotel - great desert garden and patio area My only knock however is I would say the pools are very small given the capacity of the hotel. In fact that is the only reason I wouldn’t stay here again. The adult pool was very small and had cloudy water. At the main pool - also small and had limited seating options. If you are looking for a great Arizona resort pool - I would look elsewhere.

Not good.. Not even fair. We were not told before we made arrangements that there would be no house keeping, the only dining would not include a decent restaurant and the impression that it was it was grossly understaffed. And a insulting high resort fee.. It sure did not live up my expectations for $700/day

Absolutely wonderful place, Rita’s restaurant and the bar were great. The food was really good, every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful, the coffee shop was convenient each morning.

Love the Casitia's and the ability to park close to your room without having to go through a lobby. Amenities are excellent with the exception of the Men's SPA lounge which needs to updated.

Stayed during covid
Stayed during COVID. They kept the occupancy low so everyone had space to social distance and adhere CDC guidelines. All employees wore masks at all times. Pools are open 24 hrs. Food/drink served at pool from 11 to 4pm. No room service at this time. Everything was very clean and well maintained just as you’d expect at any JW property. I’ll be back in a couple weeks!

charming aged Inn with subpar service
Charming location with beautiful landscaping and gardens in a beautiful area of Scottsdale. Even though the hotel rooms were very dated, they did attempt to renovate with newer furnishing, but the closet area still smelled of mold and dampness. The level of hotel service was non-acceptable. When we arrived at our Casita, there were soiled dishes left right on our front door step from the previous guests; not a very inviting greeting for us upon initial check in to our room! The makeup mirror was smudged and housekeeping didn't bother to clean it the entire 5 nights we stayed there. They also didn't bother to sweep the bathroom floors, and by the 5th night, it was visibly soiled with hair and dust. In fact, housekeeping didn't even bother to come in to service our room on the 4th day at all. For a hotel that charges >350/night during the shoulder season, we expected more in terms of service and cleaniness. Most grand older hotels we stayed at would often compensate for their dated buildings by going beyond in service to satisfy their guest. The Camelback Inn can learn from the Broadmoor.

I love the property. it's very peaceful, private and yet there is enough entertainment to be found with live music if you wish to indulge.
My favorite thing is that the pool is open 24 hours. Crucial to travelers.
Didn't like that we were "upgraded" but placed in between two other casitas. Heard people on both sides of us all weekend. That was my. Only complaint

Friendly staff, awesome fire pits, beautiful landscaping. Liked the individual casitas vs one big hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Service was great.
