Very disappointed. Pictures are not what they seem. There is no waterpark access, like the picture of water slides it shows. That is a grassy/dirt field. I asked about it and showed pictures from expedia, the front desk laughed and said they haven’t had that in a while. I have teenagers and this was a selling point for them since other pools were for toddlers. Beach access is nice. Walls are thin and you can hear conversations between rooms. Our door rattled every time another door closed. Maintenance said every door does that. Conveniently located though. Staff was very nice and helpful.

This property is older and it shows once you get through the lobby and into the rooms. Its location on the beach was the only saving grace. However the surrounding area was sketchy. We had roaches in our room the first night and I chalked it up to being in close proximity to the water, however coming into our room from a long day exploring to find a roach the size of a large lizard was not cool! Someone came up to spray the entire room and we had to be out for 30 minutes. When we came back we saw more dead roaches that we had to dispose of. They dont clean the rooms unless you request it specifically at the front desk and after a pest spray down, I definitely wanted the room cleaned. This is a place designed for young families with kids....there was no place at the resort that didnt have kids swarming (young kids). I had 16-17 yr olds with me and this was overwhelming for them. I initially thought i would not be back to myrtle beach until i explored north myrtle beach. After i realized i just booked the wrong place to stay, we spent the best parts of our trip away from this place. The food, the atmosphere, and activitied were way better in the north. We will be back to MB just wont stay anywhere near here.

Service was terrible. We arrived around 930pm and the front desk could not find our reservation. We showed them the confirmation number and proof of prepayment. The front person told us they were overbooked. We had reserved a room with two double beds. We waited 15 mins trying to figure out what to do. The front desk person said I will upgrade you to the timeshare rooms. It was a queen bed with couch. Two of my family members slept on the couch. The keys to the rooms annoyingly stopped working twice. The unit was not clean. The kitchenette area needs to be scrubbed and the bathroom sink had black mold all under the rim, and so did the tub near the jet openings. If it weren’t for the fact that it was late at night and we only needed accommodations for one night we would have left. I will never come back to this resort. They had the tackiest decor on the floors throughout property. It was really weird for a Westgate property to decorate in that fashion.

The weekend we booked there was no house keeping for some reason. Our toilet was broke the whole time even after they fixed it. Tv was in and out when we did watch it.
Staff was really nice and friendly just wish I didn’t sleep in the same bedding the whole time and had a broom or something in the room to clean up the sand that came in with us. There was some type of private events that made those people seem more important than the ones that paid to stay there. Those people had access to breakfast while we had to walk down to the bistro for food or drinks and pay out of pocket.

Would stay again
We stayed for two nights. Check in was fast, and everyone that worked there was super friendly. It was a little pricier than I would expect for what I got. The water pressure and temperature for the showers was not good at all. But the cleanliness and kindness of the employees was amazing.

I could hear the dog in the room next to mine barking. I could also hear the people in the other room coughing and sneezing. Rooms are not very sound proof. There is a space between the door frame and the door so I could see out into hallway and hear everyone coming down the hallway.

The property doesn’t have housekeeping during your stay. The check in is at 4pm and check out is at 10:00am. I was displeased about both issues so I would rate it a 3 star

Staff was amazing. I’ve been in the hotel industry for 20 years, and I tend to be critical in the visible and invisible signs of a good hotel and this property hit them all. The guy at check in (last name Miller) and the young lady I saw multiple times (carts on Sunday, concierge on Monday) were great. They even made remembered my dogs name and commented on my Costal Carolina gear. Hotel was clean and safe. My son loved the pools. Pet friendly was nice, although I wasn’t exactly sure where to take him. Overall this was a great hotel and I plan to return.

Everyone who works the front desk and the bartenders at the coconut grille are what made our trip! It’s nice to walk into a place where there were so many smiles and so helpful and courteous. I enjoyed it. We will stay again.

40th Anniversary
The resort was above average and the employees made our stay great. The pools were great too. Between the lumpy mattress and big and hard pillows, it made our stay a bit challenging in the mornings.

Everything about this place was great
Our balcony view of the beach was worth the trip! Everyone was so courteous and helpful ❤️ Of course no place is absolutely perfect but they put great effort to make our stay wonderful!! Even though this hotel is a timeshare, we were not bothered at all, we were only there for our Anniversary trip. They even welcomed our 2 little dogs and greeted them each time we came down. We took them pretty much everywhere we went and that was a great plus!

The person checking is in was horrible. He was rude and certainly didn’t do anything to help us know where our room is etc. he didn’t say anything about the property. The fact that you have to stand in TWO lines. One to check in and another to get a parking pass TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT IDEAS. I own several businesses and this is an awful idea. My husband is handicapped and there is no accommodations for him. He served this country for 30 years and we could not get a parking space close to the door. Could not even get help trying to find our room. The whole stay was terrible. We didn’t use any amenities because we had no idea what they were or how to get to them. The whole staff needs extensive training. Horrible experience.

Water pressure is terrible, the soap dish in shower was peeling off, the outlet on the lamp didn’t work. The walk from the garage to the north tower carrying your luggage makes no sense at all

The room was not properly cleaned at all. We cleaned up and sanitized and saw so much dirt. The shower curtain was filthy but they did change immediately after I notified them but why would housekeeping allow it stay like that in the first place. Out of these things the property is great. The location, food and staff.

Room was ok, great view.
Balconies not 100% private. You can see and hear your neighbors.
Hotel walls very thin. We could hear entire conversations if we didn’t have the music or TV turned up loudly.

I am a picky traveler. I picked this place and I was aoooo not disappointed. It was awesome.. great staff.. great for kids.. awesome rooms and a fantastic restaurant on site that you have to go to! There were multiple pools, an arcade and activities ans dog friendly. Great I’d you want to walk to activities close by.. and not hanky at all! I will return!!! Good job westgate!

It was a very nice and clean property. Great view of the beach, with easy beach access. I read reviews prior about issues with timeshares being push on them. We were never approached or bothered about doing a timeshare tour. Staff were always pleasant and helpful. We did wish that the little store/bistro in the hotel that had ice cream and coffee along with other small goods and drinks was open a bit later, it was only open until 6 we would have like to be able to stop in for thing a bit later.

Great stay despite construction
I will start by saying very clean, welcoming and everyone that works there is really nice. Security was present so you felt secure and they were also really nice. It was very pet friendly which was cool. We had a villa/suite and it was spacious and clean. There was heavy construction and our balcony had tarp that blocked our ocean view and was covered in debris. Getting into the right building was very confusing since so much was blocked off. But honesty, besides the construction, it was a really nice stay. We loved GIGIs pizza the next block over and enjoyed a drink at the bar.

My stay started with a broken door lock which was fixed within one hour of checking in. Bathroom door is also stuck and had to be pushed very hard to close.

I did not like the fact there wasn’t a restaurant or continental breakfast in the hotel.
I only stayed one night due to a tournament for my grandson. When I got to my room, the unit was blowing out cold air even when I tried to turn on the heat. It was very cold in Myrtle Beach this weekend.
Maintenance had to replace the heat/air unit.
There were no chairs to sit in the two rooms I booked.

The hotel was fine but just fine, the bedroom was clean but the kitchen area in the room looked a little gross and at night there is a pizza place/club at night that makes to much noise that you hear it from your bedroom. The view of the ocean was nice and the bed was clean but the overall experience was only fine not great and they make you wear a yellow wrist band on property at all times like if you were in a hospital. Not a great look. Ghetto guests that would stay on the property would make a lot of noises in the hallways as well. Myrtle Beach was OK but it feels like it’s a dying city. At least where I stayed.

The rooms were recently updated which was nice and what attracted me to this resort; however, the bathroom was not up to par. The shower floor was dirty and the soap holder had been ripped off the shower wall at one point and caulked backed on. We rented an ocean front room but the bars on the balcony were taller than me and I’m 5’7. Obstructed our view and made us feel like we were in jail. Definitely not worth the money I paid to have an ocean front room. The resort also advertised breakfast available for purchase but when you ask where the breakfast area is they inform you breakfast is only available if you book a 90 min tour for time shares. No thanks! There was a friendly’s restaurant across the road that served breakfast but they were also there trying to get you to purchase a time share for our resort. The staff we nice and welcoming. The location was mediocre. I will most likely not stay at this resort again.

My stay was amazing. The only problem I had was that I was overcharged because I’m supposed to get a North Carolina resident discount and never received it. I will be trying to call the office but that is the only issue it was a wonderful stay and I will stay again, but I just need to make sure the price is the same thru out. The charges are correct thank you. We enjoyed our stay at west gate!

Pretty good overall. Only concern is the rate was considerably higher than comparable places, and for that higher price no breakfast included. I would have thought the $19.99 resort fee would have at last included that, but it wasn’t. Not the greatest value. Bed was super comfy though.

I enjoyed my stay, I liked that they had so many activities on site which kept me kinda busy. I enjoyed Pilates, Karaoke with Jaheim, painting and tie dye shirt making. Didn’t really like the restaurant options in the area. None were really healthy but I enjoyed my stay over all. Property was clean and staff were welcoming

We were put in 601b and had a crazy lady and family next door, called operator several times NO ANSWER,NONE. We are a civilized couple with a need to relax, had a QUIET PUP with us who was staring at all this screaming! She even had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on her half open door. We will not recommend this place to anyone and we all travel with! The grounds are lovely and well kept but you dumped us in an awful room, this villa was supposed to be renovated,check it out,plaster falling etc but dumping us next to a crazy took us terrible service, placement SHAME ON YOU! Horrible horrible horrible! The customer service is lack luster, I booked the hotel room tried to call to cancel after I tested myself for covid got told i will get a full refund. I heard nothing back no money refunded called again and they said they could not help me call back at another time. So I called again and emailed them well, I was told I can’t get any refund and there was nothing they could do for me. How rude worst experience ever I will never book a room with them again or
Go through Expedia and for sure will voice my opinions to others!

The property was nice. I actually expected the rooms to be more updated. There needs to be a single chair in all rooms. A note or sign should be placed near all elevators telling guest to swip room card to activate elevators. My family and i was on the property for 6 days and had rooms in two different buildings. We continued to see long lines at elevators because they were unaware to swipe their room key first. Also i was really disappointed that there was no dog area with grass. Animals need a open place to run, poop and urinate. I had to walk several blocks over to find a grass area to allow my shih tzu to have a patch of grass. Also breakfast should be served to everyone daily. Lastly the 90 minutes presentation was over 4 hours! Very misleading. Wingate needs to make all guest aware of the new time frame. My husband and I was kept from 930am til after 2pm. Its HORRIBLE BUSINESS!! Alot of guest were turned off because we all felt forced and lied to. Other than that, the front desk was great, house keeping and grounds were very impressive.

The staff was very nice. We originally had a problem with our room looking out onto a parking garage when we paid for a deluxe villa costal view. But the staff was courteous and switched our room the following day (it was a weekend). This is a timeshare hotel but we didn’t get hounded by sales representatives. The restaurant on site was very good. We utilized the pools which were very nice also.

We stayed in one of the villas. We were really happy with the size of the room. It has a full kitchen with all the necessities. Washer and dryer were a huge bonus. The view was good once you looked over the top of the parking structure. The hotel had a gym and Starbucks, also huge bonus. The amusement park is directly across the street and we found a good deal with Groupon for all day wristbands. There was no housekeeping but anytime I called for anything it came up to the room quickly. Staff was all super friendly and accommodating. I would have liked to have a broom in the room because the kids tracked in a ton of sand. We also rented a golf kart and parked it at the hotel for free. We were able to drive down to the boardwalk and to broadway , both have a ton to do . We enjoyed our first trip here and would definitely come back.

They did not have house cleaning. I had to request new sheets everyday and when I asked for someone to vacuum my room, they handed me a broom. Then you were harassed to become a member throughout our entire stay. Staff not friendly! Don’t waste your money!!

Don’t waste your time or money. Property was over all rundown and dirty. No daily housekeeping, and staff is rude and sort. Lobby, pool and beach areas all over crowded with people smoking copious amounts of pot. First time in my life I was excited to leave vacation!

This property overall was fine, nothing special. It was relatively clean, although it does have an odd smell throughout the property. Staff was very polite. Every single day they do timeshare meetings and tours, which makes the hotel very crowded and loud. Beachfront which is great but you have to pay extra for chairs and umbrellas if you want it. Pools were clean and nice. Poolside bar was awesome

This was my first time staying at the Westgate Resort. I usually strictly stay at Marriott's, but the prices were to high for this trip. I took a chance on Westgate and was impressed. The room was very clean. The only issues were the bathroom...it is very old and need to be renovated. The AC unit was very loud, which mads it hard for me to sleep well each night. The unit needs to updated to a quiet unit. The hotel staff was amazing and the pools and beach access was wonderful. They don't have breakfast, which was a drawback, but restaurants are close by. I would stay again if prices at the Marriott are too high.

There was nothing "wow!" about this resort that sets it apart from other resorts i have been to. It was a resort among many similar resorts located there at Myrtle Beach.
The one thing that i really didnt like was how i booked an "Oceanfront" room on Expedia and got "Coastalfront" when i got there. I paid $60 more for the "oceanfront" room. When i asked the lady at the desk if what i got was "oceanfront," she said "yes." I was tired and didn't want to argue so i accepted the "coastalfront." I even showed her my booking reservations and she was having none of it. So i took it and had to listen to the wife complain for the duration of our stay about us not getting the room we reserved. I blame the lady at the desk instead of the resort.
As for the resort itself, there was no map of the resort readily available. You check in and then are released to the wild. Took me 15 minutes and 3 sets of elevators to figure out how to get to the 16th floor. A posted map at the front desk would have been helpful instead of pointing out a QR code.
Overall the resort ITSELF was not bad. It was a quiet stay. Services didnt come banging down the door every morning. We had a washer and dryer which made all the difference. I could have passed on the 16th floor because i am deathly afraid of heights. It had easy access to the beach. A vast majority of the staff was helpful and courteous. I would consider going back.

The room had no chair. Beds were not very comfortable. The Draft House food was excellent. The Bistro pizza was terrible. Other noisy guest disturbed my sleep. The cleaning staff, welcome staff, and security were the friendliest of people. It was an okay stay.
