Great view
It's a very nice property with overall very good service - especially good service at the pool. The location can't be beat. It's super expensive - so just go into it realizing that everything costs more than it probably should. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view and balcony but I wish the bathroom was nicer - especially the shower.

Excellent hotel but disappointing level of service especially by concierge desk. We travelled as a family and I wouldn’t recommend booking this hotel if travelling with children. We were given poor or incorrect information about activities in the area particularly over Halloween. Felt fobbed off by management after I gave feedback.

Every aspect was wonderful. Housekeepers in the hallway addressed me by name, a level of service I have only seen in the best Asian hotels. And those housekeepers were fantastic, doing a thorough refresh of our room twice a day, while in other hotels you have to beg the front desk for new towels, and housekeeping doesn’t happen.
The restaurants were delightful and the Halekulani Bakery across the street is superb. Could not ask for a nicer experience.

Nice grounds as always, but staff a bit distracted and maybe we were unlucky with the rooms: had to be moved because of noise and then shower hot water did not work. No acknowledgment of the issues at check out. We may look elsewhere for next trip despite 5 stays at halekulani through the pandemic.

This is as good as it gets. Basically flawless. Only note I have is that I’m allergic to nuts and the shampoo / body wash etc all have nuts in them, which could have been bad. I of course check religiously, but it’s worth noting to prevent something bad. Perfect hotel.

I stayed at Halekulani with my mom and my daughter who's 5, and we loved this place. There is no kids club which was the only downside for us but other than that we enjoyed the pool, the proximity to the beach, shopping and dinning. This place has 3 restaurants with amazing food.

Since the change of the General Manager (Mr. Krauer) the standards of this hotel went down. For us it use to be the best hotel in Honolulu, unfortunately this is no longer the case

This is a beautiful 5star ocean front resort! The staff is amazing and the grounds are gorgeous! The restaurants are also great with a very cool jazz club. The only downside is there is no beach.

Sitting at Orchid, the hedge closest to the fence is sheared just high enough so you can't see the ocean from the lawn level of restaurant.

We spent 5 days/4 nights over Christmas at Halekulani and were treated like family from the moment we stepped foot on the airy and luscious property. Reception staff was warm and professional. Throughout our stay, the resort staff showed very thoughtful considerations like leaving little gifts at turndown and laying out our toiletries on a leather pad when they saw that we created makeshift ones using face towels. On the mornings of Christmas Eve and Christmas, we were delighted by the voices of the staff singing Christmas carols in the beautiful and well-manicured garden. The resort will not overwhelm you like many other resorts in Waikiki. It is calm, serene, and most definitely luxurious. A special place in central Waikiki and we will return.

Everything was absolutely perfect from the service to the rooms to the food and entertainment. And the view from our room was amazing. The sound of the surf, the peaceful and beautiful grounds made everything so relaxing. We went for my birthday and this will always be one of my favorite celebrations. We will definitely be back.

The old gal ain't what she used to be back in her prime, but she's still got it. I've been here multiple times, and she just went through a major renovation of the rooms... and she needed it! Still no direct beach, but just a 5-min walk... lovely pool, amazing dining choices and the view of Diamond Head, just wow! All staff were amazing! It's very inclusive and welcoming to all.

We have to give all high end hospitality providers a pass for COVID relating challenges, but I still feel it is constructive to note that the top rated restaurants on the property simply weren’t five star. We’d lean more heavily on outside restaurants than we did… if we return. As patrons we are not in the gourmet category but have been to very fine restaurants all over the world and appreciate great experiences flawlessly delivered. These fell short. This is no doubt an exceptional property otherwise.

Honeymoon heaven
My husband and I are newlyweds, came here for our Honeymoon, & we absolutely fell in love all over again at the Halekulani. While it was definitely a splurge, i considered it as an investment in our mental & physical health. Mental bc this hotel is tucked away from the hustle & bustle of other Waikiki hotels & physical bc you have to walk a bit farther to get to the nightlife. Even then, the Halekulani is still at the center of Waikiki & it was a pleasure to stroll down the beach boardwalk & walkable streets to get to our desired locations. We stayed in rm 537, which had an oceanview to the right side of our balcony. It was heavenly. The bathroom was equipped with a Japanese toilet seat (bidet, heated), which was always a treat to settle into. Besides spending too much time in our luxurious bedroom & balcony, we lounged by the pool everyday & ventured to the beach right by the pool. The ocean was perfect & Halekulani def has the best beach property among all the hotels in spite of its smaller size—it’s more secluded & therefore romantic. Especially with Covid, staying away from strangers was important for us. We only left yesterday, & already, our hearts ache for the Halekulani. OH & I forgot to mention— definitely opt for the everyday breakfast deal, which gives you access to two of the hotel’s three highly rated restaurants. We ate at Orchids everyday except for our last day, we decided to try House without a Key, which was just as delicious!

The team at Halekulani are fantastic. Their client service is exceptional making your stay relaxed. We were celebrating our son’s graduation from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa - and everyone congratulated him and genuinely shared our joy. beautiful hotel and friendly staff. (automatic toto washlet toilet!) just to nit-pick, only downsides were the tub drain (won't hold water), a safe with no instruction (?), no light control panel near bed, not-so-great gym (broken and dirty elliptical machines) and mediocre breakfast. And the beach for the hotel isn't private (a homeless person sleeping there during our entire stay) and very tiny.

Amazing property, room, location and staff. The restaurants/bars are also top notch. The staff is extremely friendly, and very helpful - concierge helped me plan a few excursions seamlessly ahead of our arrival. The only ding ( though this is temporary) is their Spa hasn’t reopened, so they have a temporary set up.

This hotel does not have beach access. A retaining wall comes right up to the pool. So you are not able to sit on the beach at this hotel which was a disappointment. For this price you would think you would have beach access.

We stayed eight nights in an ocean view room. Room was very clean and beautifully designed and furnished. King size bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was large with separate bath tub and shower. The toilet was in a separate room and has a heated seat and bidet. Balcony was large with a table and 2 chairs and a lounge chair. Enjoyed having our breakfast on the balcony looking at the ocean. The whole property is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is wonderful and service at the Halekulani is second to none! Best hotel in Waikiki!

Great and quiet property. It would be 5 stars however I have something missing from my room and my car that I valet was covered in chewing gum. Lesson learned, use the safe!
Not sure where was my car parked. The beach access is very small but that also helps keep the craziness away. Very strict with masks.

Aloha with Elegance in Waikiki
The Halekulani is simply the best hotel in Waikiki. The gracious staff treat every guest, each other and the hotel itself with great respect and kindness. You always feel the aloha spirit.
Orchids is one of the finest restaurants in Hawaii. Watching a music and hula performance at House Without a Key during sunset is a truly special experience.
The hotel was recently refreshed. The rooms are pristine. It is worth spending more to get one with view of Diamond Head.

I would give it a 3 but assume much of what we did not like was just Covid
Good: this is good for older or younger who want quiet time; upgraded rooms after renovation are well done, including electric toilets with built in heated seats and bidet; nice pool, super friendly and attentive staff; great view from upgraded 10th floor view of diamond head; easy access to next door hotel and their shops/restaurant and beach; evening live Hawaiian music and dancer poolside. Very expensive for what you get ( I always look for the best hotels and normally don’t worry about price)
Problems: still under renovation with one tower shut down. Small gym; no jacuzzi; no room service; one restaurant which closed at 2 pm then reopened for dinner; pool closes at 5 pm; snack by the pool took 40 minutes for the quick sandwich; more restrictive than necessary at times for covid, with restaurant staff instructed not to take your picture (though one finally did)
