I have stayed at many hotels and The Driskill is by far the best stay ever! The valet was amazing and made it so easy, the front desk was so nice and quick to assist. The room was beautiful as was all of the historic features, staying in a museum with the full experience at my fingertips. Will be staying any time I am in Austin

We stayed for only one-night. This was our second stay at the Driskill. It's a beautiful historic hotel that is well-maintained and still feels luxurious. It has the amenities you would expect from such a hotel, and the dining options are very good. The staff is friendly and professional. I look forward to staying again.

Beautiful hotel
My wife and I stay at The Driskill every year before the craziness of Christmas with family coming over. The hotel is so beautiful during the holodays with its gigantic tree in the lobby. Locals know about it and flock in to take photos and seflies in front of the tree. It is just lovely. My only concern this time was things in my room just felt dingy. Just because this is a historical building doesnt mean it shouldn't feel clean. The bed was also rock hard. I hate leaving a mediocre review because the hotle is lovely.

Lots of history here. Great location for 6th street bar scene. Hotel bar is amazing. Prices of hotel, restaurant, and bar are high. Had to do elevator swap each time, but it is an older building, so i get it.

Inflexible room assignments
Check in was a nightmare. They told me the room wasn’t ready, but they gave rooms to the next 15 people while I sat there for 2 hours! Just reassign me to a room that was ready - I just needed a room with 2 double beds
No maid service was provided - glad I was only thefe 2 nights

Luxury hotel in Austin
Beautiful architecture in the heart of Austin.
Rooms are upgraded with modern fixtures.
Took a staff provided interior tour about the history if the premises. Expensive stay but worth it.

Beautiful hotel that comes with a high expense
Beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Austin. We enjoyed our stay overall but the nightly cost plus list of fees and tipping are getting out of hand for the level of customer service in my opinion. The $60/day valet takes at least 20 minutes to gather your car so expect a long wait.

I enjoyed the stay! Everything was beautiful. Just a little terrified on how haunted the 5th floor is, which is where my room was upgraded too. Everything was fine, but encountered a lot of paranormal activity around 12-3am! If you’re into the spooky stuff, it was cool! I enjoyed the stay, it made it work for the Halloween Weekend! Beautiful everything! Great service! Love the history of the hotel!

Rooms are NOT worth the money
I was expecting A LOT more based on the price of the room. It was dingy, with stains on the curtains and lamp shades. There is a drastic difference between the lobby area and the rooms which is quite misleading. The bar area is always fun, the food was good, and there was a live band which is always fun and is usually the reason I go there. This was my first (and last) time staying overnight. I wish I had thought to take pictures.

Internet service was abysmal so we couldn’t work. Room service did not offer dessert after we came up from the lounge. Only more booze. Seems more like the Driscoll has fallen to a 3 star hotel after Hyatt took over the property. Miss the old vibe.

This hotel is unique and beautiful. The restoration feels quality. Staff has been friendly and helpful. The location is within walking distance to just about everything in Central Austin. However, while we were walking around and going to the places we had in mind, it was hard to feel safe... There are so many homeless people here. Don't misunderstand me either. I understand that some people are struggling but are trying to get back in their feet but we encountered a number of people who were clearly mentally challenged or on drugs... Austin doesn't feel particularly safe.

Great stay and great staff. We would definitely stay again if we ever in Austin. The only reason I’m not giving a 5 start overall, is due to the wifi. At least on the room we stayed in, it would connect and disconnected constantly. Eventually we just used our phone hotspots to get things done in our laptop or IPad.

We just had an poor experience with the overcrowding and blocking the main passage way from a rambunctious wedding party at the bar area. Once it was reported the manager Stacy took care of and did an excellent customer service recovery.

The property is beautiful! I love how it feels like you are in an old mansion from the turn of the century. The routes on the street were a little difficult to get to the hotel easily. The biggest problem that I had is that what I am currently disabled, and using a cane, the number of drugged up homeless directly outside the front of the hotel was disturbing I was afraid to walk anywhere. There were people sleeping on the plant pots across the street and an intoxicated man in the doorway. Security would be nice.

We reserved. Deluxe king city view and upon arriving they had given our room to someone else and we were “downgraded”. Check in is at 4 and we checked in at 4:30. Ridiculous

Very nice place, Expedia said it had a pool (it does not). Homeless people EVERYWHERE outside, constantly bothering people or showing everybody their private parts. Obviously not the hotels fault, however, not a place to stay with children unless you want them seeing private parts of homeless people. 6th street was fun. Cafe inside hotel was delicious!

The property building was good. The room amenities were lacking. The couch/love seat was old, dirty & very squesky. The support springs were very squeaky. The bed was very squeaky. Old style bed frame and springs very squeaky. The room coffee maker & coffee units were not displayed but were hidden inside a cabinet. The TV was mounted above the cabinet which was set too high. It was mounted at a comfortable level for a 6 ft. 10 in. NBA player, not for the average person which is 5 ft. 10 in. to 6 ft. 2 in. All the staff were excellent. Y'all really need to update all the furniture throughout the hotel but especially the bedding furniture.

Travelling the world for 3 months, we had 3 nights in Austin. One night in a more modern hotel near the river and 2 nights at The Driskill. We chose The Driskill for a traditional Texan atmosphere, and glad we did. Our room was well sized with 2 Queen beds, high ceilings, and an entranceway. We had no view…but the room was quiet and off the street. The bathroom was extremely compact, so much so - you would have to close the bathroom door to access the sink to wash your hands, a little bothersome but forgivable considering the age of the building. The hotel is full of art, and old world glamour. We enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable, despite the ghostly reputation. We didn’t want to opt into stories, particularly with the handsome nightly rate we paid. Staff were friendly and professional and housekeeping staff were extremely accommodating with our requests of extra towels or bottled water. My only recommendation would be that the hotel considers upgrading the choice of bed linen fabric, polyester blend sheets do not make for a comfortable sleep. Overall, a very pleasant stay, recommend.

This hotel was the perfect fit for our mid-week stay in Austin. It was very nice, clean, and quiet.
The rooms are a little smaller than most, but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. Definitely will stay there again.

Did not honor my reservation.
I booked a room through hotels.com and was confirmed. When I showed up after a late flight to the hotel, they had overbooked and didn’t have a room for me and sent me to a different hotel. Worst experience after a long day of travel.

I asked at the front desk for some change, to leave in my room for the houskeeping staff. Nobody had cash. My smallest bill was $50.00 bill. I was referred to the Valet staff, who also had only a few $$.

First of all this property is an older hotel. Absolutely gorgeous wood/stain glass throughout. Lively fun bar.
Negatives are our 4 rooms need to be updated. Workout room needs allot of attention for the size of this property. Two out of the three treadmills weren't working, and dated equipment. The maids left dirty dishes twice in my room. Other than that the staff was extremely friendly. Katie and Jake at the front were very accommodating. 👍 Food in the bar/restaurants were delicious. Will stay again if the rooms get a little up do.

Gorgeous, well-maintained hotel with wonderful staff. It's a great place to stay for adults who appreciate history and architecture and don't need many amenities on site such as a pool. For us being a couple there to experience the city, it was great for us as first time visitors to Austin. We enjoyed amazing croissants and coffee in the bright and beautiful cafe bakery, and had drinks at the bar one of the nights. Both were great experiences. Our room was small but cozy, comfortable, and quiet. The only notable downside is the immediate location outside of the hotel. A number of homeless people and shady individuals hanging out across the street at all times. The better places downtown are a short walk around the corner from the hotel. We had no real issues come upon us, but we saw enough activity to know we shouldn't walk around there late at night. It's too bad the city cannot do something to make the area right around The Driskill more safe and business friendly, as the hotel feels like a gem in the rough.

Great property. Numbers of homeless around the hotel and in surrounding streets is untenable. Austin is doing an abysmal job by allowing this. Driskill and other area businesses need to do their part to pressure local government to clean this up, alternatively, do your part to get new leadership elected. I was appalled by the irresponsibility of local govt to allow this situation to develop and persist.

The history of this hotel was amazing. Food was excellent. Service in restaurants left much to be desired. $60 to valet your car each night plus I gave the attendants a $20 tip each time was ridiculous. Downtown area is full of bums and homeless who pander you as soon as you leave the hotel.

Great hotel! Great location! Beautiful hotel. The hotel has a lot of history. The room was spacious and comfortable. Nice size bathroom. The only negative was the sink didn’t have any counter space, but a table with shelves was in the bathroom which did help for toiletries. Would stay there again.
