Terrible stay - UNCLEAN
The entire hotel smells of mildew, the stairwell smells so bad we would hold our breath until we got out. When I pulled the sheets back on the bed it was covered in random hair and a bug crawled out from under the pillow. I couldn’t tell you the last time they may have used a vacuum. It was a long weekend for us, I highly recommend that you book anywhere else besides Candlewood suites.

Caveat emptor - buyer beware
Hotel was dirty. Clearly cleaned very quickly with little attention to details. The middle of rooms were semi- clean, but just about every edge had days/weeks (or more) old dirt. The elevator was superficially cleaned, on the last day, i bent down and used my finger to wipe up the dirt that was in the corner all the days we stayed.
Hotel smelled BAD VERY bad. Walking in you get hit with a cleaning smell, that is trying to be masked with a perfume smell, and its also notably stale. The elevator smelled like someone had a bathroom accident inside, and it wasnt proper cleaned up. The room and the hall on the 2nd floor reeked. Damp/ musky / mold smell, almost choking. This was a family event and not an individual event, with 10 rooms booked it was decided that we did not want to attempt to move everyone. Cranking up the AC helped.
The staff was complacent and showed little regard for security. From time to time, a card was left in the room when going to the pool area, and each and every time they asked what room number, swiped the card and never not once asked for who you are or to show ID. Someone could have easily looted a room just by asking for a key to room X. The gift shop/ concession area had exactly 1 bag of funyons - EVERYTHING else was sold out, from Thursday to Monday. The beverages were 1/2 stocked. All the transport carts were in rooms the entire stay. said they had 3. i carried my families luggage in and out. as they couldn't fine a cart. I did spot 1 on sat

Our room wasn’t clean, and it smelled rancid. The bathroom was nasty, toilet paper left in the toilet and not flushed. The room itself smelled extremely musky and the couch more like sewage with questionable stains. We asked for a blanket and pillow before smelling the couch and seeing the stains for our daughter and was given a fitted sheet as a blanket. Our daughter ended up having to sleep with my husband and I.

Staff is not friendly, not helpful at all they are too busy talking on their phones. Elevator were not working when I checked in, asked front office what should we do since our bags are heavy, attendant said take the stairs then proceeds to get back to talking on her phone. Everyone I go to for assistance is busy talking on their phone.

Decent hotel that is pet friendly and not too far from the beach and other attractions. It only had one elevator, so you could be waiting up to 5 minutes to go down from the top floor. I was charged a higher price for my dogs than what I was told over the phone and when I first arrived. The full size fridge was a plus and kitchen area with various ammenities.

Bathroom surprise!
Not good! Bathroom had female pads that were used in the garbage! No front desk support! Went to desk and was given a bag to throw them away! Stated that she would give room discount but never received it!

Went out and came back to the room feeling good didn’t look at the sheets. Next morning our sheets had stains. Call the front desk hope they would have it fix about time we come back from breakfast got back the sheets still had not been change.

Beds were comfortable, other than that not much else. Coffee machines in lobby were broken “out of order” when asked staff for more in room coffee packets they the hotel didn’t have any. Tha staff said no matter how long you stay you only get the one packet in your room after you arrive. All the shelves in the lobby were empty and there was no propane for the grills by the pool. 👎👎

Not Good At All
The hallways and elevator of hotel smelled terrible. The floors in bathroom and entryway had not been cleaned - I took a papertowel, did a few wipes, and came up with hair and dirt. The vanity light did not work and its cover was missing - not a pretty sight!

We got there and the coffee bar did not work. The girl had a snotty attitude at the front desk and said that she didn’t know when it would get fixed then we got to our room and the room had only two towels and two rags. Then, the next night after we checked, and all the outlets in the room, quit working, another lights would turn on. Then when I called the girl at the front desk, she said that there was no on-site maintenance man which makes me question what happens in the event of an emergency when you need someone there that knows how to fix things she then told me she could switch rooms I said sure, when I go downstairs, I cannot get a hold of her or could not get a hold of anyone. I had to ring the bell several times why are they not sitting at the front counter when that’s their whole job is to sit at the front counter and why is there a bell to get someone’s attention? What are they doing that they’re so concerned in the back that they can’t come up to the front ? Then in our new room we didn’t have silverware we didn’t have pots we didn’t have pans. I had one pot that I had to cook eggs in and eventually that didn’t work so then I had to put the eggs in the microwave if you’re going to use the brand-name candlewood suites and you’re going to claim that you have kitchenettes and it’s a world-class experience and you have a coffee bar and you have a fully stock shop at then stick to those standards . The shot that was completely empty. The shelves were bare.

Great location! However, this hotel had a terrible smell throughout the halls and room. I was on the 2nd floor and the smell forced me to keep my window open the entire time I was in the room. Worst smelling hotel halls snd room I have ever stayed in!

Property was nothing like pictures. Staff was not welcoming. Very strong smell of marijuana throughout the hotel. Stayed for one night and then checked out early. It was not how we wanted to begin our vacation. Very disappointing!

3rd floor had a terrible smell, as if someone was cooking very smelly food. The elevator was broken on our stay which was not favorable (3rd floor with small kids). The attendant that checked us in was not super nice nor unpleasant.

Not clean, allergies went nuts
Dishwasher didn't work; the circulation fan for my king suite didn't work, my daughter (12 yrs old) allergies/sinuses went nuts every night we were there. They need to clean the carpets regularly and I think that would help. I didn't realize they were pet friendly, which in and of itself isn't a problem unless someone in your party is allergic. Regular OTC meds didn't help her much. My white slippers were filthy after 5 nights, which is why I say clean the carpets. We're only in the room a few hours a day (besides sleeping), so they shouldn't have been that dirty.

Smells like a horse stable inside the property. They allow pets and has a very strong smell of animal urine and such. Extremely covered up with some sort of spray. Cleanliness is not present and property is run down. Was disappointed.

Stinky hotel
This was one of the dirtiest smelliest hotels that I’ve ever stayed in in my 57 years of living on gods green earth that that you let dogs stay in rooms not a problem. The problem is you don’t properly clean the rooms after. Ripped shower curtains The manager try to say that it is the air conditioning that puts out a smell but it’s not. It smells like that on every single floor and the three rooms that I checked out were pretty bad. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone stay away you’ll thank me later.

Should have spent more for a different hotel
Booking was same day and painless for my family of four (two adults, infant, and pet). Check-in was quick and clerk was nice. Hotel smelled weird and room was no better. Tub was old and peeling, refrigerator made loud noises throughout the day, lamp shades were stained, half of the dryer machines were inoperable, and overall cleanliness of the room was mediocre. The room was okay if it was only needed to sleep, but due to weather my family spent most of our trip in the room.

Bad employees ruining a great place to stay.
Great location and up to date rooms. Customer services is horrible. had to wait for the guy to come to the front desk to check in, and he was not very friendly. When we got to the room there was a dirty rag on the bathroom floor, but no other rags or towels in the room. finally after calling the front desk 3 times someone answered and told us we that if we need towels we had to go to the front desk, they would not send them to the room. The person at the desk then walked away from the desk as he saw me coming get the towels, for at least 5 minutes. I called customer service to make a complaint. they told me someone would call me back but have not.

The reason we chose this hotel was for the amenities. There used to be DVD players in the rooms, the laundry situation; 1 of the 3 washers was broken and 3 of the 4 dryers were broken. There was NEVER anyone at the front desk you had to ring the bell. Our bathroom door stuck and made a horrible noise when you opened it. The shower curtain was no where near long enough when taking a shower you had to constantly check to make sure it was still inside the tub. We did see 2 roaches in our room as well. This will be the last time we stay at this hotel.

The hotel is old the first room I got smell weird, I was a problem with the kitchen and they change me immediately to another room this one was much better.
I like it bc is just 5 min to the beach area, also is pet friendly. The front desk people was very nice.

We checked in went to our room on the 2nd floor and the smell was horrible. The room was terrible and again the smell was unlike anything we have ever smelled before. We left to go find another hotel. We were given a complete refund. The receptionist was kind and understanding, but not surprised when we told her why we were leaving.

Staying at the Candlewood
The elevator was broken and we had lots of heavy luggage. Fortunately the manager was kind enough to carry our luggage up to our room on the second floor and bring them down for us at check out time. I give him an A+ for that.

We cancelled our reservation as soon as we got there. The hotel smelled terrible, very musty air, and not the cleanest. Only one person at the front desk and when going back inside to cancel our room, she was nowhere to be found. I had to look up and down the hallways for a worker. I even rang the bell at the desk, the only other worker I saw was house keeping and she didn’t even bother to find the front desk lady for me. There was a man bothering the front desk lady the whole time I was checking in also. I didn’t feel safe and the hotel itself was very run down and sketchy. The exterior was also not maintained and trees/brush was grown up all around it. The only positive was that the elevator was broken upon arrival so I was able to get a full refund when I cancelled. My room was on the 4th floor so that would have made me cancel anyways.

The grills out by the pool great idea, my issue was that my daughter stayed at the same time that i did and her rate was alot lower from what I paid to stay, I inquired at check in if i could down grade to get lower rate , like my daughter was paying and was told that i could get different room but it would be at same rate that i was going to pay for a so called suite

It’s was ok but no recommended ….
Upon check in we were given a room that had moist carpet and smelled of mildew. The nice receptionist have us another room which was better until. The toilets at didn’t fit the toilet, it was elongated toilet with a rounded seat, fixtures were broken and just left in the room. TV was a puzzle to figure out, double power turns it completely off. The elevator got stuck the last day we were there but no biggie the stairs were carpeted. The weekend receptionist and her baby seemed nice, maybe a bday day but the eye rolling was unnecessary when trying to report the broken elevator. We also asked for an extra blanket and to exchange our towels. Housekeeping took all our towels and there wasn’t enough to replenish them. Not enough pillows nor blankets either. I won’t be adding this hotel to the my favs list at anytime. I don’t want to pack my house to have enough pillows, blankets or towels.

It was great they got me into a room a little early for check in, but the room wasn’t fully ready and had staff knocking on my door or using their key to get in. The tv remote was broken, the mini mart in the hotel only had water left to drink and string cheese, all other snacks and drinks were gone and this place is lacking a large lobby to hangout in, I was also told no breakfast, you have a kitchen so cook for yourself, understandable, but also didn’t need to be told that way.

As soon as i walked into hotel there was an odor. Staff didnt seem very friendly. The door to the room i had to throw my shoulder into in order for it t open. It was stuck so bad my 12 and 13 year old couldnt open the door. The door to the bathroom wouldnt latch. It is not what my family expects from an IHG hotel. We have had much better experiences with the IHG brands before.

Usually Candlewood Suites are really nice hotels, but this one is not. The hallway smelled really bad. The room was ok, but the tub was peeling and the renovations were not great either. There was tons of animals there and you can tell the cleaning was very minimum. The gym looked like the floor hasn’t been vacuumed all year. Worst experience with an IHG hotel.

It was the most horrible one night stay I have ever had. I drove all night and needed some rest. 4 hours after I got into the room a fire drill alarm started going off and kept going for the next 2 hours!!!!!! The manager could not give me a refund because I booked through "Expedia " but everyone knows you can get through on the phone to a live person at Expedia. How convenient! Shame on you!

King vs queen
We are celebrating our 36 anniversary & taking an unplanned trip driving around FL.. Made the reservation online for a king size bed. However, on arrival we were given a room with 2 queens and told no kings were available. So the choice was to sleep together cramped or apart....not a happy anniversary experience.

Other then a few guests letting their dogs urinate in the hallways, which is very disrespectful, our stay was pretty good. Clean towels and sheets. Our carpet smelled a little so we kept ac running high but that's bc other guests let their pets urinate anywhere.

Location was good. You can go either direction and find things to do. A lot of the areas with in the hotel smelled like urine. There was a strong smell of urine in our room. More specifically when we layed down for the night. The base board to the bed had not been wiped down. You can tell there had been a dog in the room since there were pee marks from a dog.

When we first arrived the room we had smelled awful. After the first night of sleeping in the bed I asked my husband to get fresh sheets as the bed smelled.. upon getting sheets and stripping the bed I noticed the bed, mattress protector and sheets were soaked in somebody else’s urine. Like fresh urine. Someone wet our bed and they threw sheets on top of it with no regard to cleaning it properly. Once we complained they offered to come change the shear for us, or switch rooms. We opted for switching rooms. Why would I want to sleep in a urine soaked bed just because it has fresh sheets. Once we switched rooms we had an issue with the fridge. It buzzed and chimed loudly. We asked if they could fix it. They said they couldn’t, but they could change our room again. We had 2 very little kids with us so switching rooms again wasn’t that easy of a task. We dealt with the fridge and just unplugged it at night so we wouldn’t have to listen to the buzzing. The property was fine, the staff was friendly. Aside from the bed and fridge we had a great stay here. I wish they would compensate us for the first night considering we slept in a nasty bed

I checked into room 311 and the toilet and sink was backed up. I called the front desk and the guy said that he could only provide me with a plunger! I was sooooo upset. I could not believe he told me to plunge a toilet for a facility that I rented that should have been working. After going back and forth with him, he had us check into room 316. Although everything worked, the fridge made this loud noise and the tub had this nasty peeling that was coming off.

The location was cool! It was within 10 minutes of the beach.
The young lady that checked me in was really nice. My first room, the door wouldn’t lock and the windows were foggy.
My second room, the air wouldn’t work, shower wouldn’t get hot, and the window screens were tore/hanging. So they fixed the first room door and had me to go back in there after I was settled. If this hotel would’ve cost half the price, then I wouldn’t be complaining because I would’ve paid for what I got. Next time I come to Destin, I’ll definitely stay at a different hotel

Everything was good especially loved that the rooms had a fridge, cabinets, dishwasher, microwave and a little stove was very convenient. The hotel had complimentary washers and dryers as well which was also great. The location was nice as well there was plenty of stores / food places around and the beach was only about 5 minutes away.
