Wyatt was great and very professional. This is the first hotel I've ever been to that actually looks like the pictures. The traditional suite was nice and roomy. Me and my husband will definitely be back.

Great location, outdated amenities, Old smell in the hallways room are accessible, yet Sheets are rough towels are extremely dry and scratchy.
Perhaps they could use some softener in the water in order to create a comfort.
I will not recommend the price I payed.

Checkin was messed up. Paid extra for room with balcony, but was sent to two different rooms without balcony. They tried to charge me for upgrade to balcony even though I already paid that. Finally a manager stepped in and fixed everything on third try. What a hassle though.

Hotel Granduca is grand!
We were very pleased with our stay. The jr. suite was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. It was very quiet and the location was perfect with easy access to everything we had planned. The staff were all very friendly, warm and helpful. This is definitely a wonderful place to stay.

If U want old, this place is for you.
This place is billed as 5 star. U wouldn't know it from looking at it. The place is in dire need of an update. The entire property looks like nothing new has been done to it since it opened. The rms r nothing special. Very old furniture & carpeting in them. I will say the bed (w/ my topper on it) was comfortable. The rm was quiet & there were ppl availabe if U needed something. If you're looking for something modern, go somewhere else. This place looks ancient. Wouldn't recommend it & wouldn't go back. The help was friendly tho.

Went for a birthday outing and a little R&R. Felt as if we were back in Italy. Everything from the courtyard, gym, bar, dining at ALBA were off the charts. Looking forward to our next visit.

Quiet and comfy.
Excellent location for entire Galleria area, yet in a secluded pocket that is comforting and inviting. This is not your multi-story mega hotel, which can often be a plus. Pleasant staff. One note to management, keep the old world ambiance, but consider a little refresh on cabinets and possibly a lighter interior repaint. Complacency in this area can catch up to you in time.

Hotel is very beautiful. Room was cozy and very well decorated. Room was clean and nice. Bathroom was very convenient and clean. Room has bar sofa two arms chairs and tv. Bedroom is separated. It’s very nice kitchen area. Pool and bar areas are very beautiful. Food and cocktails are very tasty. People who work there are very supportive and nice. Thank you dear hotel.

The service at the hotel was excellent. I was shocked though at the decor in the room and how worn and dated it looked. It felt like walking into my grandmother's living room. The space was comfortable but very unappealing visually.
I also had hoped to have some quiet time by the pool and thought a hotel like that would not be overrun by children. Definitely was wrong about that. Several children having a cannonball contest for more than 30 minutes. Hotel staff did not ask them to stop jumping in the pool and the parents were clueless.

Beautifully traditional in the Italian style and scores well on most everything except for furnishings and built-ins that need staining touch ups in a lot of places. This would be so easy and at minimal cost.

Best European Hospitality
The hotel staff was wonderful and the restaurant and bar were absolutely amazing.
Every day between one and three, they have high tea and their high tea is absolutely perfection. You have to make reservations 24 hours in advance because they prepare the sandwiches and pastries for that particular reservation. Margherita at the front desk was the best not only front desk but also as a Concierge.

Hotel itself is nice and check in staff was friendly and quick. There’s self parking, really good food, the ambience is nice…however, the service was not great. The service made the hotel experience disappointing. We were overlooked by restaurant/bar staff multiple times. Bartender was taking drink orders at the pool….never acknowledged us. When we finally walked inside the hotel to order directly from the bar….staff asked my friend for her drink order and didn’t ask us what we wanted. Took about 40 min to get them to make 3 drinks. We dined twice at the restaurant and both experiences were underwhelming. Food was good but we had to ask for basic things like salt, ketchup…. and never got it. There’s no hostess for the restaurant- you have to awkwardly stand there and wait for someone to acknowledge you to get seated….which took long because the restaurant staff seem to have blinders on. Was the hotel nice? Yes. Would I recommend the hotel? Never. The worst part was that it was a girls stay for my bday- horrible.

The Granduca is a unique, welcoming hotel. It is tucked away in a little green oasis not far from the extensive Memorial Park grounds. A beautiful poolside courtyard provides a lovely setting for outdoor dining. A side dining room is the setting for an intimate High Tea, with lovely and whimsical china and delicious sandwiches and pastries. There are recreational spaces as well, including a pool table. It made the perfect spot for our family to convene, with a large comfortable suites that had well-appointed kitchenettes and comfortable seating. The rooms were impeccably kept. We liked the furnishings. There were antiques with an Italian flair throughout the property. It feels more like a welcoming European property than a sterile American chain hotel. The atmosphere is serene, warm and comfortable. To a person, the staff was outstanding. It made a special occasion for our family really perfect. Thanks, Hotel Granduca! We look forward to returning.

Everyone was so amazing and so attentive to all of our needs. The manager took good care of us when there was an issue with our room. The food was excellent-- we had breakfast and dinner there several times. And the service was excellent and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and our room was lovely. This was our first time staying at your hotel and I will definitely stay there again. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

A Wonderfu Place
We love this hotel and stay there everytime we visit Houston. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and everyone makes you feel at home. On this trip the TV kept shutting down and then starting back up. It seemed more like a problem with the system than our TV but maintainance could not solve the issue.

Hotel Granduca is not the same calibre of hotel that it used to be. Checked in to find our sink clogged, no blanket on the bed with sub-freezing temps outside, television remote and hair dryer working sporadically, only enough hot water for one shower in the morning, maid service lacking and just generally disappointing. There is still hope that they can turn it around because it was such a lovely spot, but perhaps new management is in order.

I was underwhelmed by the greeting I received by the staff working the front desk. No smile, no pleasant greeting. Same happened at check out by the same fella. At least I would have expected him to ask about my stay. Nothing. All the other staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Think the hotel could do better with finding a more personable front desk staff person.

The front desk operator, Margarita, was absolutely rude over 4 different interactions. The wait staff in the restaurant was equally rude and openly insulted customers in Spanish assuming they didn’t speak the language. When requesting to extend or change my reservation, I was told that the hotel can’t do that because they don’t handle reservations. Would not recommend.

The hotel was great for us. Really nice room, really quiet, great pool and dining area. And very pretty--both the furnishings and the building and grounds. The one weird thing was that they had all this wonderful setup and then kind of got cheap on the small things. For example, in our room, which was a suite, we had one bar of soap, two towels, two (giant) spoons), no bowls, two coffee cups, very little coffee. It was unfortunate that they spent all this effort to create such a beautiful space but didn't quite finish it off. Similarly, in our suite, we only had one small tv, which was not in the bed room but in the living room. So, watching tv from bed was pretty hard--the TV was a long way away and quite small.
Overall, we loved the hotel and will stay there again. It is a beautiful property, and the staff was kind and responsive. It was just a bit frustrating that, with just a few more tweaks, it could have been much better.

Hotel is immaculate. The manager at check-in was awful.
Snobby, arrogant, and spoke so softly he was unintelligible. He made me feel as though I was "fortunate" that he was allowing me to stay there.
The hotel as less than 50% occupied (Friday night), yet when I asked for a late check out he could only offer one hour; however, for an additional $100, he could offer two hours. That is absurd.
It's a shame that one self-righteous manager can leave such a poor feeling for a guest.

Not a 5 Star Hotel
This hotel is badly in need of an upgrade. Pool was a health hazard (should be reported to the City of Houston Health Dept.) TV barely worked and was offensive offering adult entertainment. Owner was more concerned with the brand of toiletries rather than the poor condition of the hotel. We where totally surprised by the ratings given this hotel. We have stayed in far better in Houston. Housekeeping manager was rude and made excuses for room still not cleaned at 4:00 pm. No updated power connections for chargers and electronic devices. No dressing table or work desk. I could go on and on but no one at the hotel seemed concerned (no general manager on duty)

The property is great, however the room across the hall from us said "residence". Both mornings we were rudely awakened by dogs fighting in the hallway and children running and screaming at the top of their lungs at about 8 AM. On the second day I stepped out and addressed the “father”, he apologized. Then the screaming children and slamming doors continued for some time more. WHAT A RUDE AWAKING.
When I addressed this with the hotel staff, they seemed to be unaware. How could this be? There is one way in and out of the hotel.
The person on duty was to speak with their manager. I’ve heard nothing from it. Why would they allow this in the hotel?

location! but needs major updates and remodel
Pros: excellent location. Good ambiance in outdoor patio good food, good service. Cons: Taking advantage of the "Italian" "old world style" , this hotel gets sway with being old, and rooms are a run down. This hotel needs a major remodel of their rooms, baths, and kitchenets. Nightstands have dents, furniture has scratches, overall this hotel needs major TLC.

Front desk individuals Marlo and Haze gave me the worst experience I've ever had in any of the 5-star hotels I've stayed in throughout the last decade or so. You put this hotel in Dubai, call it 5-stars, and the kingdom of Dubai will actually kick you out. Heck, they might even put you in jail for it. DO NOT STAY HERE!

A Grand Hotel that does not disappoint!
My stay at the Granduca was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere makes you feel like you are away on an exotic trip – but you also feel like you’re in a home atmosphere! I could not have been more pleased with my stay.
The staff in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic! I had breakfast there every morning and felt like a queen! The cuisine was perfect! I will definitely come back to the Granduca!

Wonderful time escaping from the everyday world. Located in a great area with plenty of shops and resturants in walking distance. Friendly staff and nice pool. We played billiards and ate at the casual dining, including Afternoon Tea on Friday.

It’s a lovely property with a European design. We have been staying there for 10 years now. No money has been put back into facilities. Same gym equipment. 2 separate rooms, no working exhaust fan, so humidity builds up in room and leaves dampness behind. This hotel has so much potential but cant compete with the newer hotels in the area.
