My husband and I stayed at this property and when we checked into our room, I noticed water on the bathroom floor. I washed a few dishes with dish detergent and I saw the bubbles spilling out of the pipes underneath the sink. We asked for a new room and were given a new room but the coffee table was missing. Instead they had a tiny blue roll away table but not big enough for us to use for our dinner. Also, my step daughter spent an evening with us and when they opened the pull out couch, the mattress had so many crumbs and it was dirty. She ended up sleeping on top of the couch cushions which is not ideal especially when we paid for a standard experience. This was less than standard. Breakfast option was good though and location to the major highway and small shopping center next door was good as well.

Good stay for hospital visitors
Plus: Convenient location; close to Sentara Obici Hospital. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Large room with mini-frig and microwave. Comfortable bed. Complimentary cookies in the afternoon-evening.
Minus: Shower not cleaned thoroughly; found hair on wall and in corner. No tub. No tray for breakfast. Printer down; no receipt provided for stay.

They told me they couldn't guarantee room I booked thru Expedia. Housekeeping only left 2 towels for 4 ppl. Great location and front desk very helpful

Housekeeping didn't do a good job at all. A pill and a penny were lrft on the floor and my husband grabbed it just before our 1 year could. We had less than half the amount of linen we should have had. We requested more and it was taking so long to come that we requested a late checkout and we were told no and we had to share body towels to dry off after showering. 2 towels for 6 people. Ridiculous

Overall nice stay! However there was low water pressure in the bathroom. I also walked into my room to find that it was cold which I discovered the screen pried open slightly and the window was open. I closed the window and locked it. Left me a little uneasy.

Several outlets and furniture items were broken. Floor was not clean at all, trash and dirt around bed. Door lock was intermittent and frequently needed new cards or “a special trick” to open.
Staff often replaced keys or replaced lost keys without checking ID or asking names. For several people. You can literally walk in and say you lost your key card and they will give you access to any room you ask for.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Holiday Inn in Suffolk, VA, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel's location was convenient for my travel plans. It was situated in a relatively quiet area, which allowed for a peaceful night's sleep.

Other than the staff who were nice for the most part, this place needs upgrading badly. Found hair in the bacon. Mold in the AC and smelled, poop juice around the base of the toilet. Beds are uncomfortable, left with severe back pain. Pool was decent. Lastly the electrical trucks that took up all the parking spaces in the back and having men sit in the truck and watch you in the pool is not a great feeling

I wouldn’t stay there again
When we got there everything was ok but on our second day we had a roach in our room. When I went to tell the front desk, she asks how many I saw. She offered us another room and when we got there the air conditioner didn’t work properly.
The breakfast wasn’t great. Some of the food tastes like it was freezer burnt or sitting out in the fridge.

The Holiday Inn Express was well laid out, clean, friendly staff, awesome breakfast bar! There was a young lady that came up and helped us with our heating system which is confusing when you have combined old units set up to new controls. Yes we are Sr. Citizens, the gentleman who checked us in and this young lady that came up to room 205 on 4/23 late at night represent your company well! Please compliment them for us...sorry I can't remember names.

The room itself was nice. I did not like the fact that I was put in a joining room. I was there by myself and the people that were next to me act like they were trying to come in my room. So, I put a chair in front of the door. They were loud and kept slamming the doors all night. Did not get much rest.

Upon arrival had to wait for someone to check me in and when he arrived he didn't look professional at all.
I was immediately asked to complete a form with my address and car information huh? My address is known as it was needed to book.the hotel against my credit card.
Upon entering the room smelled like clorox the nightstand was dusty. Didn't really give a strong vote of confidence or cleaniness but it's only until 3am tomorrow morning so hopefully I will be okay

The bathroom light/fan was VERY noisy. We arrived at the hotel near midnight and used the bathroom in the dark so we didn't disturb our neighbors. The next morning, we were awakened by another room's bathroom fan. Additionally, the bathroom sing had a hole in the porcelain. Someone must have hit it very hard to break a hole in it. Even so, it should have been repaired. Finally, the room did not have a hair dryer. When my husband went to the front desk to request one, they told him our room number was listed as unoccupied. The hotel desk worker had to go to another unoccupied room to obtain a hair dryer. We were very surprised that there were no extra hair dryers in case one broke or went missing. Overall, we were disappointed in our stay.

At arrival room wasn't ready, had issues of it smelling like smoke. Was given another room and had same issue later that night, strong smoky smell. Also couldn't sleep do the noisyness of the area. Loud cars and sirens all night. Wasn't pleased with my stay.

Very clean & comfortable- just what we needed.

Our room was on the first floor next to the room where they prepared breakfast. About 5:00 am staff must have come in to start preparing for breakfast and there was no sleeping after that as all we could here were cabinet doors opening and closing.

The staff was very pleasant and courteous.
The location was very convenient and safe.
My only dislike was the water pressure in the shower head. The sink faucet had better pressure.

The property was very neat and clean. Everything appeared very new. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. There were a few mechanical problems with the facility (elevator did not work and no hot breakfast due to oven not working). Hopefully they get those resolved quickly. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff neglected to inform us during check-in that the elevator was not working before accepting payment for a 3rd floor room. Was able to (after some work) get them to cancel the room. Wasted time & energy. There was some fine print posted about this.
A better way to handle it would have been: "Our elevator is not working, are you sure you wish to still check in?"

Worst stay of my trip
Staff was not present most of the time and when they were they were not friendly or inviting. Coffee was cold every time. We had 3 people in our room. Only 2 towels in the bathroom.

Overall it the check in check out was good, the room clean, nice and cozy but only thing I didn’t like was the vent in the bathroom was way too loud and the shower water was lukewarm to cool. The skin water got way hotter than the shower. Also the hallway on the 3rd floor was hot like the AC was off. But overall it was ok the staff was very friendly and accommodating and I’ll stay again. I hope those 3 things are fixed.

I’ve stayed here multiple times even during the renovation and I was a little disappointed this time. The room I was in was “newly remodeled” however there was cracked paint and plumbing issues. The staff was amazing and besides that my room was very clean and in good shape.

Kindness goes a long way.
The initial room was blasting cold air ( in the winter) and the bed spread had something it. Upon contacting the front desk, they immediately changed the room. The second room was equivalent and on the ground floor--- it was less cold, however, I had to have someone from the hotel to come adjust the temp. It took quite a while for the room to warm up to the desired temp. When it did, it was quite cozy.
I gave 4 stars given the attentiveness and ability to address the issue.

Hotel is currently undergoing renovation, as was evidenced by the room numbers being taped to the top of the doors. However, property was clean and neat otherwise and staff was pleasant. Would stay here again.

When we checked in and went to our room we found the AC cover removed and laying on the floor. The room temperature was very cold. Reported this to the front desk and they moved us to another room - temperature was much better. The hot breakfast food was cold too!!

Room were very clean. Pillows and nice and fluffy.. They had the air conditioner on which I didn't mind because I have to sleep with it on.. but for it to be 40d outside I can see that a problem with other guests.. they are doing construction.. but they were NOT loud .and the smell in the room smell like construction.lucky I had candles and my plug in.. ..they do have Alot of restaurants around the area and a nail spa .. and the hospital is right across the street..

Lobby And breakfast area was niceLy remodeled. Breakfast options were good and fresh. And the lady working the breakfast area was very nice.
The representative That checked us in was rude.
The hotel is in the middle of a remodel so it’s quite noisy during the day and the rooms are not updated yet.
