This is a very beautiful and unique property! I would not hesitate to come here again or recommend it. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway. Each room has its own unique decor. I was in a Double Premium room which was very spacious with a queen bed, sofa, table and two chairs. However, it was clear that the owner needs to invest in property maintenance and upgrades. The heating was not working properly and none of the fireplaces were working or in process of being repaired. The TVs also could be upgraded and premium channels could be added vs just standard cable. Breakfast options were limited but tasted great. As a 4 star hotel, I expected better. But the staff were excellent, very responsive and tried their best to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.

Don’t waste your time or money
1. The people at the front desk were very friendly and attentive.
2. Like prior reviews the walls are thin and you can hear every creek or conversation near bye.
3. The room as in previous reviews was not functional. Pillows were lumpy, carpets dirty, walls had big stress cracks and you could see mold and water damage from a leak long ago.
4. Found out fireplaces did not work after booking.
5. Don’t bring your pets here. $75.00 per pet per night.
The property is beautiful and you feel a nice disconnect from the real world, but at the end of the day there are too many great choices out there to give this Inn any sort of recommendation.

The aesthetic of this hotel is wonderful and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making the property beautiful as well as keeping the historical charm. The location doesn't get better for visiting downtown Staunton. However. We stayed in 2019 on our honeymoon and the breakfast was simple and free (we enjoyed having coffee and a pastry in the nook) when we arrived this time we saw that breakfast is no longer free to guests and the "restaurant" is $18 per person. Not awful, but I don't see why muffins and coffee can't be available for guests(or something of the sort.
That would be my only complaint though!

Looking forward to improvements
This is my fourth stay at Wedmore and we always book the Normandy room. While we love the grounds, the staff is so kind and helpful, and the wine tasting & breakfast are perks - this stay was a tad disappointing. I believe a year ago the hotel cam under new management/ownership and the price of the hotel rooms doubled. We almost picked another place but decided to waited until right before our trip to book the room to get a decent price. I expected to see upgrades with the cost increase. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When we arrived at our room the door was unlocked and the door ajar. Had I been traveling alone, I would not have entered the room. Further, the bathroom door nor the exhaust fan worked properly. The celing was disclored perhaps mold around the vent? Finally the pillows we were given were small, lumpy and very uncomfortable. My husband balled up his coat to sleep on it.
Upon checkout, we shared our concerns with Jo and she was kind enough to offer a bottle of wine. And said the upgrades were coming. I certainly hope so. Its a charming hotel and would hope to stay again. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra.

Good rooms, nice decorations, great staff and the breakfast is nice.
Really love hanging out in the library.
Being on the first floor, however, was NOT relaxing. On all 3 nights, we had people above us who were walking around until midnight etc. The wood floors rattled and the chandelier would flicker off and on in response.
We will be back but only if we are able to get a second floor room.

This is Napa on the East Coast. Vineyarsd winery, quaint hotel... The Wedmore is also just minutes away from the treasure that is Williamsburg.

The trip is a family trip and then I was just so excited to find this property but the experience wasn’t that good we arrived little bit late night and it takes for a while until I get the room key once I got to the room the room is not ready. I reach over the one king bed, and one sofa bed, but only one king bed is made. So Throughout the night my husband has to sleep very cold I paid almost $300 dollars and i really looking forward to this trip so it was really disappointing

The desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Checking in is very easy and checking out. The billing has a very European feel. I stayed in the Venetian what a beautiful room feel like you’re an old world France I would definitely stay there again

Overnight Stay in Williamsburg
Unfortunately we arrived in the dark and couldn't observe how beautiful the property was until we woke up and got ready to leave. They comped us a bottle of wine and wine sampling passes for later the next day which unfortunately we could not use. I would definitely stay here again!

The room was not clean. We explained and asked after night one, and it was marginally better but there was still a half inch of dust on the air return vent. Additionally, the rooms are very loud and you hear every sound from the room above you.

This is one of the best hotel values dollar for dollar in the southeast. High end hotel amenities at a moderate price. Fantastic restaurant on site as well as the lovely winery. Btw the wines produced at this vineyard rival Napa easily and are near the top for Virginia wines so take full advantage of that experience as well. I’m worried this place will be further discovered and get overrun soon. It’s my 5th time staying here and it seems to only get better each time. Service is 5 star too.

Wonderful in almost every way. Great breakfast, staff and walking areas. Rooms were very charming and comfortable. My only complaint was the shower/shower head. Couldn’t be adjusted and sprayed in your face. Small, prefab shower with nowhere to put shampoo/conditioner. Minor complaint.

We had been to the winery many times for Iunch and wine but decided to stay at Wedmore Place for our fiftieth anniversary. The weather was beautiful, the hotel staff and winery personnel were excellent. Our room was perfect - the bed was so comfy. The included breakfast was fantastic both days and we both also received a free wine flight!

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this property while visiting the College of William & Mary. It was extremely convenient yet outside of the hustle and bustle of the town. The staff was exceptional and the continental breakfast was very tasty. However our favorite part was the decor of the room and the comfort of the rooms itself. This was an exceptional hotel.

The suite's loveseats were incredibly uncomfortable. The powder room sink would not drain after you washed your hands and there was no soap, my husband had to get some off the maid cart. The bed was horrible, very uncomfortable and noisy. The bed was up a very tall staircase which was difficult for my husband's replaced knee and every time you flushed the upstairs toilet the water ran for at least 10 minutes. It was so bad we left earlier than booked and had a better experience at the other hotel. This was for our 26th anniversary too! Such a shame!

Wedmore Place is just wonderful. Everything about it! The hotel appearance, the rooms, the service, food, etc. It is also a delight to be offered a complimentary "tasting" of their wines; sampling various flights just a short walk away at their Winery. This is my third visit and I plan to visit again in the near future. I would highly recommend this Inn!!

My husband and I stayed here once before and knew we must return sometime. The employees are so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel it self is clean and comfortable. The rooms are all individually decorated, so you don't feel like you're staying in a hotel. You get a glass of bubbly and a bottle of wine when you check-in, which is great after driving there. The food at the tavern was very good. My only complaint is the person in the floor above, who paced with big heavy shoes on for an hour in the early hours.

Place was so dreamy. Very quiet. Jo was accommodating in every way. Plenty of wine options have in the room. Air conditioning was perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable. Dark at night, well lit during the day. Breakfast was simple and delicious. Courtyard was very relaxing to enjoy some quiet and easily see the stars. No complaints.

A lovely place
The Wedmore Place was a delightful, whimsical stay in the middle of a lovely vinyard. It reminded me of the small European hotels of my childhood. The friendly staff, from the front counter to the breakfast cafe to the maintenance man all added to the calm, kind country charm. We were grateful to stay in a place that was so unlike every other hotel in Williamsburg.

What a beautiful property! We totally enjoyed our stay at this boutique hotel with individually decorated rooms. What's not to like about a front desk that greets you with Welcome, would you like a glass of Prosecco?" The hotel is on the grounds of a vineyard (a complimentary wine tasting came with our room). The room was charming, the breakfast pastries were to die for, and our dinner in the on-site restaurant was amazing. I would definitely stay here again.

this Property does not deserve more than 2.5 Stars, the room was terrible, there were bed bugs that kept us awake all night, tv did not work , the room was terrible no tv, no micro wave , could not sleep due to bed bugs, the good thing is the breakfast is good and included, welcome drink was good , staff was good , but room and the maintenance worst we have seen ever.

My daughter and I were visiting colleges in the area and we absolutely loved staying here. It was so nice to stay in such a beautiful hotel (as opposed to all of the other cookie-cutter type hotels that we typically stay in during college visits!). The staff were so polite and friendly, the room was absolutely gorgeous and the hospitality was wonderful---prosecco to greet you and a free flight of wine after a long day. No detail was overlooked. We will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.

A wonderful stay, hope to come again!
We were in town for a family visit and found the Wedmore to be perfect as a base to spend time together on the grounds and at the restaurant & wine tasting room. Our stay was three nights in the Tyrol, room 29, designated a standard room. The room was very spacious and we appreciated the comfortable bed, desk, and cold A/C. The view is to the wooded area on the second floor. The bathroom is quite narrow but well appointed with both a shower and separate tub area. The front desk staff was very helpful with a cooler and medications that needed refrigeration each evening since the room does not have a fridge/freezer. The included breakfast was ample and delicious, although more choices without bread would have been nice. We found out the last day that some sort of gluten free bread is available but we did not try it. Despite the per night price being a little higher than we normally spend, the value in the location, amenities, and atmosphere were well worth the price to us. Added bonus is that their locally grown and produced wine is some of the best we've ever enjoyed outside of Napa Valley.

Staying at The Wedmore
All the people that worked at the Wedmore were super friendly and went out of their way to help you out. You can see that the owner has not kept up with the place since building it. We heard new owners have purchased it and have plans to revamp the place. Felt safe there and very nice buffet breakfast.

I loved this hotel. The ambience and location are excellent. The winery is beautiful. It wasn’t too crowded since it’s small, but it was so unique. The pool and pool bar were so fun. The food next door at the Tavern is great. The staff was attentive. It felt like being at home.

Very nice French themed hotel nestled back on the Vineyard, where they make their own wine at the winery which you can tour and do wine tasting. Restaurant food was good and they had music with a live musician where you can taste wine sit and relax overlooking the grape vineyard. Very nice place to stay.

The staff was excellent and the continental breakfast was also very good. The rooms were in need of TLC. The group in the bathroom needed to be redone. There were burnt out lightbulbs in the room. There was no coffee maker in the room and there should have been. the bathroom was small and the shower even smaller. despite theses issues I would consider returning if the rooms had received the TLC indicated
