The Blackstone is very nice, the decor is good. The rain showers have very little water pressure. I felt that for the price the hotel is lacking a little.

Really loved the hotel and great views of the lake. No room service which was a big negative. And no snacks to purchase other than a few items in a vending machine. Merkat Bar closed at 10 which was rather early.

Absolutely loved the vibe of this hotel. It was like a blast from the past. From the flooring to the architecture it was beautiful. Even the elevators!! Would give this place 10 stars if I could. Will definately be returning.

No parking when booking through Expedia. Had to pay 70 dollars per night for overnight parking at a parking ramp across the entrance.
Had to pay 450 dollars for damage deposit upon arrival.
Other than that, was a wonderful stay. The hotel was beautiful. Safe, pretty quiet, great location.

Very nice hotel, I had a problem with my room placement the gentleman at the front desk assigned a different room promptly and accompanied my wife and I to make sure the newly assigned room was what we expected. The hotel is a work of art within itself and all the staff from the Bellman, Front Desk staff, to the Maintenance staff are all attentive and very accommodating to the customers needs. The hotel has some great views of the city and there’s an art gallery in the hotel that you have to check out.

Quick getaway, wonderful time
The hotel is very beautiful, a real art deco type of feel. It reminded me of one of the hotels here in Wisconsin. The room was very clean very comfortable. The refrigerator and coffee maker were a nice added touch as a lot of times you don't see that these days. The staff was welcoming even though I arrived well after midnight. My only issue was parking, but there was somewhere to park, regardless of how expensive it was. They were very accommodating when I arrived and check in was smooth and very quick. Will definitely visit again

Blackstone experience

Fantastic location and paying extra for a lake view room was worth it. Beautiful view from 11th floor. Beautiful interior decor. On the whole, the staff were excellent, charming and helpful. One or two reception staff were less than helpful, especially when we needed a taxi to the airport on check out. In all though I had a wonderful stay.

It was a great stay! Room was spacious with large bathroom. Great location. Valet was not in service. But parking lot was adjacent ( it was raining). Front desk was terse and not very welcoming/friendly. Doorman David was very friendly and gave good instructions. No assistance with baggage was provided; stairs are present at the front. Apparently rain ponchos are not a thing in Chicago

Beautiful old hotel, very convenient for us as it was close to Orchestra Hall and the restaurant where our son works. Very large room, super comfortable bed. Excellent bargain for the price. Not as hideously spartan as most hotels have become. Never a wait for an elevator. We'd definitely stay here again.

Decent location and fairly priced. Room was clean with our view overlooking some hvac equipment but that had no bearing we weren’t looking for anything more. We have stayed there in the past and appreciated the old motif of the lobby but this trip noted a mixture of modern style furniture mixed in with the old, assuming they were looking for an eclectic feel, but it’s not working. Had a couple drinks our first night, they were good, but ignorantly priced. Sunday breakfast may have been one of the worst I have ever eaten. Would possibly stay again but would avoid the bar and restaurant.
My big complaint, no parking, you need to utilize another hotels facility, and again, ignorantly priced.

Hotel was clean but the design of the bathroom was very questionable. In certain double queen rooms there is a large gap in the door closing where you can directly see into the shower.

Everything about the Blackstone was perfect for our trip. We were in walking distance from all of our planned activities except for two, which were short 5 minute rides away. They were doing construction outside the building which kinda ruined the sleep in late benefits of a hotel… but not anyone else’s fault and we got some great pastries down the street since we were up!

Solid choice with character

Blackstone has an elegant lobby and the ability to dine at the restaurant that shares a location in the building. (Mercat, I believe.) The room itself was comfortable and offered good basics that other places don’t, such as a fridge, which is hard to believe. Overall a pleasant experience and everything was in walking distance. My wife and I were pleased.

Historic building, very nice stay—we’ll come back
Nice hotel, historic building with interesting info on its history (built around 1910), beautiful lobby! Room was updated, very clean, bed was very comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), room temperature easy to control (amd Im picky about a good temperature for sleeping too). Staff were all very friendly and helpful, location was convenient to many sites (Art Institute, Bean, Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, many restaurants all with easy walk, even for this 65 yo non-athlete; fast Lyft/Uber to theater district ). Price was VERY reasonable which made it even nicer! (Though we would have been fine paying a bit more than we did…shhhh, don’t tell the hotel! 😆.) Only problem was that the Wi-fi in room was very slow but that didn’t matter to us this trip.
Restaurant inside the hotel, Mercat a la Planxa, was very good, excellent service (will do a separate review of that).
Really enjoyed this hotel, we would definitely stay here again.

I liked that it was a convenient boutique property with wonderful ambiance and great customer service. Nice restaurant for indoor dining with great food and service as well.
What I didn’t like was that I was charged two separate rates one higher than the other for a two night stay. Due to having booked with a third party. I wasn’t aware the rates had jumped up the second night until I checked out. I felt the third party should have been more upfront about that.

Stayed on the 6th floor by the fitness centre - walls are like paper so could hear the weights falling - plus dissatisfied at check in there was nobody to help with luggage to our room and had to do everything ourselves - certain staff were very unhelpful in that aspect. Otherwise generally clean and well presented hotel and rooms with comfortable bed and spacious rooms. Location is prime for access to millennium park, Michigan Ave and Chicago River

It was a convenient location but the shower didn’t work and I stayed only one night. When I mentioned it at checkout there was no attempt made to make it right by a voucher for a future stay or discount.

Shower head would not put out hot water, but they came and fixed. Be prepared to spend $150 a night as a deposit. Our 4 night stay was $600 plus $600 for the deposit. The deposit was actually more than the hotel stay.

Beautiful well-maintained hotel, close to the Art Museum and the Studebaker theater.
Front desk folks were some of the nicest I’ve ever encountered at a hotel, room was very clean with super comfy beds, and everything in the lobby was done up beautifully for Christmas. Stayed with my family- the 4 of us would definitely return!

Great hotel
It was a great hotel. No Lobby bar. Mercat food and cocktails were great but didn't open until 4 and was closed when we return tend from the theater. Beautiful lobby. Wish there was more opportunity to relax and enjoy a cocktail in it.

Wish we were staying longer
A beautiful lobby filled with history, attentive & friendly staff, and a clean updated room were the hallmarks of this hotel. I only wish we had been staying more than 1 night to experience it more thoroughly. The location was perfect for our visit to the Chicago Art Museum.

Would give it a second chance!
Location is perfect, loved it!!! Hotel overall is nice cosmetically speaking. Room had broken door latch, carpet didn't seem like it was freshly vacuumed and furniture was very dusty.
Hotel has a restaurant inside, we went to the bar and bartender was not friendly nor welcoming, drinks were not good.

This is a really nice old style hotel, Our room with a view of the lake was awesome, Laid in bed and watched the Saturday night Fireworks at Navy Pier. The hotel could use a nice Bar to go with it. Stay away from the restaurant Mercat, We were very disappointed for a purported high end dinner it was far from it.

First, our reservation was missing somehow, although I handed the front desk my confirmation email from Expedia. We started panicking. Than the manager suddenly found it. Or just figure out to better give us another room, they were not fully booked. The room was very small and next to the supply room and cleaning staff. They were talking loudly in the mornings and woke us up two of the days. On the day we had to checkout, which is noon according to their web, the cleanings lady started knocking on the door 9:36 am and when I opened she told me bluntly that
I have to leave. Never in my long history of hotel stays something like this ever happened. When I checked out I was not asked by the staff how my stay was. It was very hot when we visited, no complimentary water was offered, no information about the facilities was offered. The staff was not friendly, they all looked grumpy and tried to get you out of their hair as fast as possible. I was treated better at motels. This is def not a 4 star hotel and I will definitely not bookings it again.
