CLOSED for Renovations!
I made this reservation for a business trip. Then I found out just before the trip that the Atrium was CLOSED for renovation. Thankfully the VSA Resorts (parent company) shifted my reservation to the Ocean Sands Resort a few blocks away. But it was VERY BAD management to not inform me of this change well ahead of my trip. The Ocean Sands was fine, but having driven up to an empty building at first was not something I appreciated.

Atrium closed - no warning of change of property
We never were able to stay at the Atrium. Our reservation was moved to another property, because the Atrium was closed for renovations. HOWEVER - No one told us about the change. We showed up to the Atrium late at night to find it closed, and the lady working there at the time was very unhelpful. The other property was good, and we had a great stay there. BUT we never stayed at the Atrium

When showing up on site the property was closed (for good). I didn't receive an alternate email listing the upgraded property site until a half hour after I arrived on site. There is a need to communicate with Expedia that the Atrium is no longer available for booking reservations.

We stayed one night, got locked out our room because the key stop working. The front desk gave us a nee key which still did not work. We had to ho back to the front desk on the third time the lady used her master key to open up. This left us with no key to leave the room without being locked out.

In town for a week working. The Atrium fit our needs, pool was dirty the whole time we were there. No big deal, but seeing a disgusting film floating around in it everyday wasn’t pleasant. Outside of the room the carpeting could use a serious cleaning or change it all together. Otherwise, everything else was great. The room was equipped with all the amenities you could need. A solid 7 out of 10 stay for me.

The room was pretty clean, I had to ask them to vacuum the floor, as it needed it. Kenny (maintenance) came up promptly do that. The AC in room 307 wasn't working, so they moved me to another room. Sean (ad min) approved a late check out for which was prompted by Joyce, she was great. Kenny, Melissa and Joyce were wonderful to me, they are an asset to the company. The wifi for the TV was horrendous and would go down for 10 minutes at a time. Atrium would definitely be losing business because of that. The staff made my stay there very enjoyable, but the company needs to spend some money to make their jobs easier, especially when dealing with people that are upset about TV reception.

When we checked in, we were given keys to a room that was already occupied which was inconvenient and frustrating for both us and the people in the room we were attempting to get into. We were switched to another room quickly but the new room had cleanliness issues. The toilet was disgusting with urine all over the rim along with a giant pubic hair. It clearly had not been cleaned.

Staff was nice. Ice machines out of order. Hot water doesn't stay hot for long while taking a shower. Floors are dirty. Just where a pair of white socks. Youll be amazed. Wasnt a bad stay just those three things. Hopefully they will address some of them. Then i give it 5 stars.

The first room we were put in I set up for my sons birthday but then noticed the whole living room smelled like vomit like they just went over it with a wet mop but didn’t clean it the front desk was helpful but had to move us to a new room due to no housekeeping being available so I had to take everything down and cart it 3 floors up and set it up again

Our room was clean. You could smell the cleanliness. The staff was pleasant and very accommodating. It was a 5-7 minute walk to the Boardwalk. The weather was perfect to enjoy the beach every day (until the hurricane lol). You’re within walking distance to everything you need. A mile away from the grocery store. We had a wonderful visit!

It was what it was.
TV in the bedroom wasn't working. Wifi wouldn't connect. No top cover sheet for the pull out couch. Smelled like cigarettes and mildew.

Overall it's a nice clean hotel. Conveniently located for walking to alot of amenities.
Dissatisfied because when we wanted to watch TV we had no cable. When the cable worked it was only for a few minutes and would go off again. Also the indoor pool had some kind of film in the water. This was our 2nd trip to the Atrium.

First time stay and would return
This resort is geared more toward families as the suites are large and accommodating. As a solo stay, I only used the bathroom and bedroom. It was quiet to sleep and comfortable.

We were up on the fifth floor and it was nice view. The room was clean shower was nice. You could tell they renovate it. My only complaint is the pool, a strong smell of chlorine but other than that I enjoyed the room. The people at the front desk were very friendly, I will come back again so I read that complaints from other people and I’m glad that I see they were taken care of. I come back again and we left out at 4 o’clock in the morning. It was someone at the desk so I thought comfortable insecure thank you.

Disappointed all around.
The condition of the interior and exterior of the building was not accurately depicted on the website. My room was full of black hairs, in the bathroom and on the bed and the carpet seemed musty. The pool is in the lobby and made that and the hallway smell like chlorine. The alarm clock in my room was smashed into pieces. The instructions given implied that I was responsible for taking out my own trash which seemed odd to me. I can see if you were staying for a longer period of time that the kitchen would have been great but I was only there for 2 nights. The location was very close to the boardwalk and to many restaurants which was nice.

Well, for the price and just 2 blocks from the beach I can’t complain too much. The main downside for us was the floor… it was dirty AND had been “cleaned” with some kind of product that left it weirdly slimy. There was a residue that came off on bare feet. Very disturbing. When I took a paper towel and wiped the floor to see what the heck was going on, the towel came back BLACK with dirt. The pool had WAY TOO MUCH CHLORINE. Could barely walk by it without choking from the fumes, which permeated the entire atrium space. Positives were the linens were clean and scent-free, as requested. The bed was pretty comfy. And the little kitchen was cute, clean and convenient. Also, young lady at front desk, JANAI, was lovely and helpful.

The property was filthy. From the absolutely disgusting (!!!!!) pool to the bag of dirty linens on the bed to the stained carpet to the sticky (!!!) surfaces in the bathroom we could not have been more disappointed.

Loved this property in so many ways! Location and staff were top notch! The kitchen and living space were great! However, the hide-a-bed had not been cleaned and we did not have sheets or pillowcases (which we discovered late in the evening unfortuantely). I tried reaching out and have heard nothing from the hotel regarding an apology or any type of a refund. The rest of the room was VERY CLEAN! I'd love to give them a 4.5/5 but with the bedding situation it's more of a 2.5/5 for me.

It's an older hotel, needs some renovation. However, it is clean and room is spacious with a small kitchen and a separate living room and dining area. We did the VA beach 10-miler and loved the hotel's location. We just walked to the start line. It is also just a block away from the VA beach.

Rooms were clean w/ all kitchen utensils included to use the kitchenette. All appliances were new, 2 tvs, comfortable bed, free washer/dryer,free ice, warm pool. You exchange your dirty towels as often as you like. The towel lady was wonderful. My only complaint was the sofa bed was very uncomfortable. World definitely stay again.

We’ve stayed here several times. It’s inexpensive and spacious. However, this times that we went, we could even get in the pool bcz it looked disgusting for the entire time we stayed. There was clearly film, lots of white bubbles floating. We asked the front desk and they had a little bit of an attitude about it. She said it was chemicals. She said it was safe, but it did not look safe.
Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

We have booked this hotel based on the ratings by other customers and we didn’t pay cheap per night. The hotel has zero room service , no towels service , no cleaning for 6 nights . We had to get the vacuum cleaner to clean the room. The rooms and dingy . Their is carpet in the rooms , you don’t even know if they are clean . The railings are extremely dangerous I saw a toddler slip between them and caught by his parents at the last minute . They fill the soap and shampoo containers with the same products and you have to bring them down yourself to reception.

i absolutely loved the indoor pool & adult swim hours! and it being so close to the beach, the rooms were amazing big, clean, full kitchens,and had an oven! my dog even had a good time. i only rated it good because they did not serve breakfast, they did give us a guide paper to restaurants close by though. me and my wife went to waffles&co. $60 for 2 ppl! ridiculous! it was all disgusting like it was made with ocean water or wet/soggy we will not be eating at the oceanfront again, and we will definetetly cook our own food when we return because we will definetetly be coming back very soon!

Property was like an abonded plac.The price was high enough, but you still have to make an extra payment for room cleaning and also you have to take away your trash bag by yourself. If you forget any of your staff you are required to pay an extra fee. The building is too old and weird so they only use the advantage of being close to beach.The AC was not enough and so you feel the strong heavy smell both inside hotel and room.

Location was great. Cleanliness inside hotel was fine but the room cleanliness needed attention. Sofa was dirty; mattress inside was dirty and had crumbs and left items inside. Carpet was soiled and smelled like pets inside. Decor was outdated. Plumbing issues and pool shut down on second day of our stay. I’m sure this is the reason the rates were lower. You get what you pay for.

Staff was friendly and available, room was perfect layout for a family of 4, fully equipped kitchen, great location and close to eateries/main strip. Things that were annoying but not deal breaker- We had our door programmed and new keys daily because they would stop working. The hot tub and pool were basically same temp (both about 90 degrees) (I like the warm pool but I’d like a warmer hot tub). We would stay again and would recommend!

We complained 2 or 3 times each day that the dish washer was broken. A couple of maintenance people said it should be replaced. Our fourth day we learned that the replacement was sent to a sister property. No one ever apologized. Also occasional problems with the safe in the room.

Parking on site, which is great. Location 2 blocks from the beach. The room was clean and perfect for three adults. We had issues with our keys de-magnetizing and had to stop by front desk to get it reactivated. Older property-no bells or whistles. Staff very nice and helpful.

It was very nice the rooms are separated into three so the bedroom, kitchen, and living room. Very spacious and quiet all around. The indoor pool is also nice and warm. Everything about it was wonderful.

Overall, property was OK. Carpet needs to be removed and fabric on living room furniture needs cleaning! Do away with the cloth fabrics for true cleaning to occur.

Exceeded my expectations, room was very clean, pool was kinda like a hot tub, hot tub was closed was never told about it. I was told it was okay for late check out at noon then last minute was told I had 15 minutes to get out or I’d be charged for a full extra day due to no communication with other staff

Ok place to stay, rooms were clean, but you can tell it is an older place. Right in the action area so if you go to bed early expect bands and other noises till late.
The indoor pool was small and full of kids so was worthless for two adults to enjoy anytime in a pool.
Check in at 4:00 and check out at 10:00, for a large amount a night far from a great value

The air in our room was broken, we informed the front desk and then we never heard anything. Did a follow up and somebody finally showed (they were nice), the air started working for a little bit. BUT then it went back to not working, it was just an inconvenience. The hotel room wasn't really that clean, when we arrived there was a raisin on the couch and the toilet was dirty. Oh let's not forget that the tub wasn't draining properly either. We would stand in our filth for the whole shower

The hot tub was out of service our whole stay , which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel was for the pool and hot tub . Also during our stay the elevator stopped working as well and our room was on the 6th floor and we had to walk up to the 6th floor with shopping bags and food which was very inconvenient. One other thing was that either the hot water heater or the ac unit kept making a knocking noise the whole stay which made me have to keep the T.v on while sleeping to block out the knocking .

I do not recommend this property. The front desk staff at check-in could not have been less welcoming after a 5 hour drive and late arrival (other staff were more pleasant). I do not expect much in a pull-out bed, but something more than a bunch of springs wrapped in a cover, and there was no blanket for the pull out until we requested one. The refrigerator made an extremely loud knocking sound that kept us up half the night, but we arrived too late the first night to realize before we put our kids to bed. No soap in the shower, waited an hour and made 3 phone calls in an attempt to get it. No conditioner provided, which is surprising given the price per night. The walls are paper thin so the next door neighbor's alarm going off at 3.30am, 3.40am, and 3.50am made it even harder to sleep even with the refrigerator knocking. The noise from the pool (which is basically in the lobby) carries up given the atrium design so if you have young kids trying to sleep around 8 or 9pm, it is simply another thing to deal with. I would not stay here again.

It was a very pleasant stay. This is my go to resort when I visit Virginia Beach. It's a block over from the beach and it's surrounded by plenty of food and activities. I have four children so I like that Wendy's and 7-11 are within walking distance. It saves money. Two miniature golf parks are within a block walking distance. The arcade is approximately a five minute walk. It's so many shops and things to explore.

It was an easy walk to the boardwalk/Beach and restaurants/bars. This also means that it was fairly loud at night due to those festivities. LOVED the kitchen and fridge set up! Nice to not have to eat every meal out. Plenty if space to park in their parking lot which was awesome and FREE for one car. Super clean. and everyone was very hospitable.

The property was just as described, real close to the beach, nice rooms, great view. But the night club next door with thumping bass untill 2 am didnt go over well. The amazing part was when i mentioned this to the general manager he said thats the first hes ever heard that complaint.
It wasnt a total bust, i will always look to see if theres a night club near my hotels from now on. Lesson learned.

To start with my reservation was for the Atrium but when I arrived they were closed for renovations. My reservation had been moved to their sister property with no notice to me at all. They stated that Expedia knew this and booked me anyway. The sister property was ocean Key which was very nice except for the cable tv was intermittent the entire weekend. I’m not sure I would book through Expedia again because of this.
