I saw the initial reviews for this property, and they were both good and bad. The hotel had an odor that literally made my stomach upset. The sink and the tub did not have a stopper. There were rust or water stains inside the sink and the tub. The carpet was wet with a red stain. The mattress sheet was inside out and I didn’t notice it initially until I sprayed the bed down with disinfected fabric spray. The hotel description indicated that there was a bar on site, and this was not true as it was shut down. If you’re visiting the Miami Beach area, please pay close attention to the reviews. Since this was a last-minute trip, I didn’t have the funds necessary to book a different location. I was very unhappy with my stay that it was hard for me to sleep in the room.

Good place to spend a night when passing through. Large room. Window facing tbe parking garage. Curtain panel partially hanging off the rod. Bed was soft, but large. No breakfast. I would spend a night but wouldn't choose this hotel if i was on vacation. Higher floor rooms might have better views and more light.

The property site shows a swimming pool belonging to a different business. They don't have a swimming pool. The property conditions are deplorable, and the elevator does not work. When booking, they told us the elevator would be working in 3 weeks; when we checked in after four weeks, the elevator was still not working.
The person at the front desk was rude and not helpful at all. We booked three rooms and a suite since we were a group of 10. We all have to take our lounge to the rooms thru the stars. No one helped.
The suite did not have enough furniture; the living room had just a sofa. No refrigerator.
We complained to the manager about all these issues, he promised he would give us a refund. He shared his phone number since he was going to "discuss" to find a fair solution. He promised as a refund, he even promised to give us a free stay in another property. We have emailed him, called him, and never got a response.
I think they are used to do this type of scam.

I had booked 4 rooms as we were a big group to find out that they changed the configuration when we arrived. The place is run down and definitely not a place I would recommend to anyone.

The Astor Powered by LuxUrban was a fine place to stay. The hotel is older, rundown, and lacks a few usual hotel amenities. But you probably wont do any better at this price in South beach.

Very poor condition
Hotel is in very poor condition. Elevator is broken. Carpet in room was absolutely disgusting, filled with stains, floor felt uneven/subfloor was squeaky (wood rot). There were sketchy people hanging out in the lobby — one woman was there every time we came and went over the ~24 hours we were there. The photos online are either outdated or very doctored/edited. Although the staff was kind, I absolutely would not stay here again or recommend to anyone.

The only thing that was good was the mattress was new and comfortable, and the shower and air conditioner worked. The elevator didn't work, no ice machine, no pool, nowhere to sit outside, no onsite parking. Even the Kurig coffee machine didn't work. Our friends room nothing in there worked not even the outlets. The desk clerk gave them a very hard time, wanted them to move to a different hotel 8 blocks away then after a heated argument relented and moved them to a vacant room they did have available!!! Would not go back or recommend.

The elevator was not working. No coffee or even vending machines. No ice machine. Air was not working in our room. Did not want to move us. TV remote not programmed. Only thing good was the bed. I believe it might have been new. Supposed to be renovating. Should note all this on website. Especially no elevator.

It was nasty!!! The tub had a screwdriver holding up the drainage
The AC didn’t work in our suite so they had to change the room which was after 6 hrs of asking them to fix it

Wouldn’t stay again
This hotel has a lot of potential but really missed the mark. The room was huge and well designed, however it was pretty run down. The sofa was so stained I wouldn’t even put luggage on it. The carpet was also in rough condition. Neither tv worked in the room. One was stuck on Roku but had no remote to change Roku channels so I assumed it was a previous guests personal box. However I couldn’t get the tv to regular stations.
I will say the front desk staff was super friendly and accommodating. One of our pillowcases was severely stained so they brought a new pillow and were very kind. The next day our door lock ran out of batteries and it took them awhile to get us into the room. The front desk offered us a late checkout so we weren’t rushed getting ready and was very apologetic and nice.
Overall the hotel was over priced for the quality and amenities offered.

front desk attendant was not even on the property when I tried to check in for about 30 minutes! Room and bathroom were unfinished. Nothing on the tv. Terrible attitude. No elevator. Room’s door lock didn’t work well.

We had a bed without a blanket. We had a toilet and running water. We did not have a functioning elevator but a room on the 3rd floor and I had recent knee replacement surgery. It was not as described and not worth the price. In addition the TV and WiFi did not work.

Our room was outside of the main building off of the stairs that lead outside so that wasnt very safe.... it also meant NO wifi. And because their TVs only have a Roku. We had no TV. Out showrr was broken. The knob for the hot water and to turn the shower itself on were unscrewed and laying in the bathtub. Our toilet was clogged and maintenance never showed up. We had to put our TP in the trash can. When we asked for another room we were told they only had one room available but it wasnt available cause it needed to be cleaned and there wasnt any cleaning staff. When leaving in the morning, the cleaning staff was in the hallway using a broom to clean the carpets weating sliders and no socks. Its just bazaar!!! The entire experience was BS.

Frustrating experience with customer service
The day before the stay, they relocated me to 12th and Ocean Suites by LuxUrban because they 'overbooked'. Thanks for the short notice. The new place is only 2.5 stars on Google Maps. This building has a bar on the first floor and they play loud music until 2AM. So unless you are a night owl, I would not stay another night on this side of Miami Beach ever again. Next time I would definitely spend the extra hundred bucks and find something nicer. AC did not work because the thermostat is out of battery. However, I did like the digital self check-in process and password protected building gate and room door. Room is fairly clean for the price.

I was relocated to one of their other properties the day before my arrival. The hallway smelled like urine and there’s no staff onsite. The property is not marked and was difficult to find because of that. The property was 12th and Ocean Suites. I will not return.

The location is great! But, the hotel didn't have any amenities that any normal hotel should have. No coffee pot, no hairdryer, no ice machine, no refrigerator, no microwave, no iron, no elevator, and only 2 pillows per queen bed.

Well not as advertised for sure.
No end tables in our room no drawers to out suff at all actually very noisy.
Elevator doesn't work, no amenities to speak of. Toilet barely worked and the shower had to run for 20min before you got hot water.

Staff were good.

Was cancelled by AStor, sent to address which wasn’t there. No label on the door. Bed small and hard, toilet ran all the time, shade in the shower mildew, no safe parking, without Erica, we would have never found the location. Door didn’t have address on it. This should have been on the instructions.

Our flight was delayed so we got to the hotel around 2 am and the guy at the front desk was kind and helped carry one of our suitcases upstairs (elevator wasn’t working). The location was nice, we could easily walk to the beach. However, the property is pretty run down, there was some construction (I think I heard they are building a restaurant). The lobby was run down, and like I mentioned before, the elevator didn’t work and we were on the 3rd floor. The hallways and stairways just felt creepy and dirty. Our actual room was fine. The bathroom was nice. It wasn’t what I was expecting based on the photos. I couldn’t stay there for more than 1 night though so I’m glad we only booked for 1 night.

The only thing good about this hotel is it’s location. Property is poorly maintained, no house keeping, couldn’t even provide an extra pillow and quilt. The electronic door lock is malfunctioned, it will unlock if the button is pressed, that means anyone can get in if they are intended to break in.

One night stay before cruise by Miami Beach
Great location. Only 2 blocks from the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. CVS across the street. Reasonable price.
Room was huge with comfy bed and couch. Mini fridge was nice and front desk gave us bottled waters.
A few not so great items:
- bathtub looked stained
- had to hold down toilet handle a while for it to flush properly
- could not use the room safe because it was locked when we got there and front desk didn’t have master key to unlock it.
- only 4 hangers
- carpet had a big stain on one area
- elevator didn’t work (but front desk offered to carry our heavy suitcase up)
- there was an oder in the lobby (but room was fine)
Looked like some renovations were underway so hopefully the items above will be fixed soon.
We loved walking on the beach and boardwalk. morning walk was especially nice.

Arrived at 2 o’clock in morning with my daughter, no elevator for 4 suitcases, paid for a junior suite with bed in living area but only 2 sofa beds and a round table nothing else not even a phone. The bathroom didn’t even have a glass for a drink and I have to take pills. Bedroom had a king bed with to light bulbs on wall no phone. Next morning had to take down luggage by stairs. 4 chairs in lobby with 11:00 checkout. No benches or any seating outside. Could elaborate more but that is enough.

Staff was welcoming and friendly. I loved the code locks instead of the traditional key card. The hotel has a lot of work to get it looking and feeling great, but they are working on upgrades and headed in the correct direction from my point of view.

Roach Motel without AC
Absolutely terrible experience. I don’t usually write reviews but for the greater good, people need to know. AC didn’t work, TV didn’t work, toilet barely flushed, Wi-Fi was on and off, elevator didn’t work, saw a couple live and a couple dead roaches. Room was mid 80s even at night. By day 90s. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Stay away!

The place is trashed and there was a dead roach on the lobby floor... None of the pictures online are up to date.. Its run down and nasty. I showed the person at the front desk the dead roach and it was like it was no surprise to him.

Where do I start....elevator not working had to carry heavy luggage bags 3 floors. No wifi, no curtains, no refrigerator and no hot water. Bathroom was disgusting. Found a cockroch in the hallway. The bathroom floor was disgusting. The whole building is under construction there was screws left every where for little kids to pickup or anyone could step on. Pool closed. The smoke alarm was chirping all night just needed battery changed. Front desk person said maintenance would have to fix it the next day. There was tape around one of the sprinklers in our room. Can we say fire hazard? The amenities described on Expedia are incorrect!!

Not glamorous, but nicely located
The room was quite spacious, which was nice. The hotel room needed some updating. It appears they may be in the midst of starting some renovations. Our room had plaster patches on the wall that had not been painted over. The bathroom was roomy but the countertop was cracked and had been patched back together. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The location of the hotel is conveniently located near the beach and several hotels.

Not what I expected
The reservation said that the hotel had a pool. It doesnt. It said that it had breakfast. It doesnt. Not even they provided hot water when asked, they suggested 7 eleven on the corner. Elevator broke down for more than a week and no one helped carrying the luggage upstairs or downstairs. Wifi is tricky.. on the TV of the living room, it didn't work well at allá There wasnt enough dark to sleep up to late. The curtains werent the best to shut down all the light. Plus, it took us 50 min to check in because the room wasnt ready at the check in time. And the last day I found a roach on the floor.
On the bright side, some of the employees were kind and polite, the location couldn't be better and he room was enormous and comfy.

We were unable to stay at the Hotel Astor, because it was closed completely with locks on the doors! We tried to call their telephone number, to no avail. When we called Expedia to tell them about what happened, they did try to arrange another hotel for us, but we had already gone to the hotel next door, Hotel Chelsea, who arranged for us to stay there for the three nights we planned on. I was extremely disappointed that both the Expedia representatives I talked to did not indicate any concerns or regrets about our experience, nor did they indicate that they would investigate how something like this could happen, and express their intentions to avoid a similar situation in future.

This hotel is perfect! It’s a block away from ocean drive, a 24hr Cvs is across the street, the staff is helpful and friendly and the hotel was clean. I had no complaints. The pool was tiny but perfect because there was never too many people in at once. My fiancée and I thoroughly enjoyed it and plenty of places to eat and browse within walking distance. I’ll definitely return!

Cute boutique hotel. Not busy, very quiet. Close to the beach but good distance away from the hustle and bustle of South Beach. Lots of places to eat and shop that are walking distance. Pool was small but why use it when you have Miami Beach close by. Valet took about 30mins since it is coordinated by the city.

The hallways smelled of smoke and even our room smelled of it a bit. They do have signs for no smoking though. I also really did not like that our room directly faced another window of a condo. We had to keep our curtains shut the entire time, which was unfortunate because I really love natural light coming in. Plus side was the hotel was literally a 2 min walk to the beach. I have to say the bed was the most comfortable thing I have ever slept in. The pillows were extremely comfortable, so it made up for everything. Also, when they say breakfast they mean a consistent and coffee so prepare yourself because that was also a disappointment. We ended up walking down to the beach to grab lunch

Spacious rooms. We were very disappointed to find out that breakfast was not included as promised on Hotels.com. We would have either brought something with us or chosen a different hotel. Instead, we wasted money on food we didn’t plan on. Not sure why we paid a resort fee if food wasn’t provided.

I liked the room reminded me of the 50s it's was cute however the fridge needed to be bigger and they didn't have any face towels had to wait until the next day. We had to use hand towels to wash our body! All in all the staff was very friendly and it was a nice location

Locked Accounts While In Miami!! 😖
I had a great time on my trip to Miami Beach, my husband and I had a few hiccups with our bank and credit card which became to be a major issue with our checking and our checking out. The desk clerk Kisha (on 2nd shift) I do believe that was her name, she was very nice and the young lady who was there when we checked out on Monday morning listened to my concerns and apologized for the inconveniences and doing it all with an attitude of professionalism. I work in the hotel business and I know that's so important in a guest service representative. My guestroom smelled amazingly clean, our bathroom was very clean and the mirrors shined!!

Cute but run-down
Cute hotel but definitely has seen better days. From afar all looks good but look closer and you can see it is a bit run down. Our room (King suite) had adorable furniture and set up but the carpet was soaking wet in one area and never dried. When we asked for the beach towel and bag that is advertised, the lady at the desk didn't know what we were talking about. Breakfast was a bowl of fruit salad and some pastries. It wasn't an awful experience, just not what we were hoping for.

Really loved the authenticity of the deco hotel... very Miami. As a result it’s obviously not a new polished Hotel with state of the art facilities. If those expectations were managed I would suggest anyone would enjoy this hotel.
Lovely arts kitsch room, robes waiting & water in fridge.
Only 5 min walk to beach and nightlife on ocean drive, but further away that loud drunk people wasn’t an issue!
Pool area seemed nice (didn’t use myself)
Only negative was slightly loud rattling AC but again, it’s small old hotel, it’s wasnt going to be perfect.
Was able to leave bags free of charge on our last day which was good as 11am checkout is early compared to others.
I have stayed in many hotels in Miami n for the cost and location I would say this was good value & would stay here again. (Our room was 304)

We stayed here ten years ago and really liked it - but it is now tired and we were disappointed. The room was quiet and clean and location is perfect, but services are lacking and breakfast was a waste of time. There are so many places in Miami Beach that I think we will have to give this one a miss next trip.

Misleading pictures!

They didn’t have much to eat for the continental breakfast they gave us buy one get one free drink cards but the three bars that they had were closed, they said that the bartender quit also we we’re told when we checked in that as long as we were quiet we can go to the pool at whatever time which also wasn’t true

The staff is wonderful. The only thing was that the A/C was out in my room so I woke up to 80 degrees. They were swift with contacting maintenance and patching the issue. Water leaked from the vent by the door, the fridge didn’t work and the light flickered all night, and I found an ash spot from where someone smoked in the non-smoking room. I was too tired to complain and just wanted rest. I would stay again but switch rooms

It was an okay hotel, my friends and i were only staying over night because we had a cruise that Monday morning. Sadly not even 2 hours in our room and we killed two roaches. I would probably not book here again. But the staff were alright they seemed a bit bored with their job. Not crazy about my stay there can’t imagine more than a night there. Ohhhh but the bed was superrrrr comfy only pro cause even the pool was small for 4 people

I stayed at Hotel Astor for 7 nights. The guest service was great very attentive. My air conditioning went out the second day. They changed my room almost immediately. Great experience staff greeted me every morning with a smile. I will definitely return.

Nice hotel PERFECT LOCATION
The only problem durning my stay was no ice, my entire stay ( 4 nights ) the ice machine was not working and they referred me across the street to but my own ice. Room was nice and housekeeping came every day to change the sheets and clean the room. Would definitely recommend and stay again

There is absolutely no parking near this hotel. Plan to walk 2-4 blocks to park in a parking deck. If your traveling durning holidays, be aware all the streets to get to the hotel will be blocked off by the city police.

You could hear the water in the air conditioner non stop... several stains in the carpet... mini fridge light kept flickering so I had to unplug to get sleep... bring your own towels, there’s are worse than sand paper.
