This property is awesome- the perfect place for a true relaxing vacation. The amenities are incredible; beautiful spa, indoor and outdoor pools, workout area, restaurant and separate bar, salon and outdoor pool bar overlooking Tampa Bay. The walkable Main St. has an array of delicious dining options and quaint shops. Safety Harbor is a beautiful area. Quiet and welcoming. You never have to leave the area to have a spectacular and restful vacation!

I loved this place. It would have been 5 stars if the kids had at least some hours to swim indoors. It was unusually cold out. Other than that one thing, it’s a little bit of paradise in a beautiful area!

Dated but nice
Pleasant stay - close to Ruth Eckert Hall for a concert. Excellent massage (Ricky) and a delicious lunch. The hotel is kind of maze-like in layout & my room was a bit dated, but clean. the weather precluded going outside, but I would return.

Wonderful hotel
Wonderful, historic property in a charming area with amazing art throughout that makes one feel that they are staying in a museum of fine art. We had a bay view room with a balcony that had a breathtaking view. Room was large and comfortable. The hotel staff was warm and responsive. The only problems that I encountered was at the spa. On my first day there I had three different services canceled on me because of sloppy management and no effort to find a replacement therapist when one got sick. Also some of the spa attendants were downright rude. On the up side, the pool was warm and clean, and the Jacuzzis were hot and strong with a little water that was very soothing. The steam room and sauna was at a perfect temperature and clean. They had an array of classes that were expertly led by warm and welcoming people. I will return, but I will make sure in advance that they have their act together in terms of my scheduled appointments

My only issue was waiting till 4pm to check-in. The day was half over and I'm still not in my room. Would be nice to get settled in and then go touring the area.

No privacy
No privacy. Able to hear person in next room cough thru adjoining door and thru air pass-thru in bathroom. If we can hear them they can hear us. The feather type pillows are horrid. Spa wonderful

Great location, old and dated hotel.
The place is old. It really needs a major reno. Pool area is nice but rooms and rest of the hotel are really dated and kitchy with a Greek theme. I get that it’s a kinda historic spa and the staff is fine. Doubt they could ever afford to redo the whole place so just be prepared for a stay in and old dates hotel.

The area surrounding the resort was excellent- lots of dining and shopping options. The resort itself was dated but clean. Had to request room cleaning which was annoying. Spa was fine- layout a bit confusing and pretty active

I found the hotel front desk very unfriendly and not very good with follow through. Also requested room cleaned and they did not show up until we were ready to leave for dinner and was too late to clean. it was the lack of communication from front desk.

Great weekend
Excellent spa experience, worth the $$. Spa amenities were great and can be used all day with the package. Crystal was awesome. Large, clean room but balcony railing was very rusty. Big stones around pool are slippery and hot. David at the pool bar was excellent as was the band. Jessie at the indoor bar took good care of us, live music was also great the night we were there.

The resort is very clean, my room was comfortable. Grounds are very pretty. The bartender at the pool bar was rude and not serviceable at all. She seemed bothered by us ordering drinks. Other than that, the stay was great!

Very rude front desk attendant; no hot water available in the room; rooms are old and dilapidated and in great need of a renovation. Beds are uncomfortable, and the pool needs to be renovated. It’s very run down looking.

stay was amazing!! the lady at the front desk so kind and Alice at the spa made our extra special for my daughters birthday. there was always someone nearby to help you find your way. our queen room was nice and lots of space. we can’t wait to go back!!

Outdoor pool and bar staff were very nice. However the two individuals sitting by the towels (not sure why there are two) are more involved in their own conversation and don’t maintain the area. They also constantly runout of towels. With two individuals just sitting around this is unacceptable.
The room attendants are all very pleasant.
The rooms are old and need to be updated. Today we found mold by the air conditioning vent. Room always felt wet. Nothing dries, towels and bedding feel constantly wet.
Lady that met us when we arrived was down right rude. When we arrived she very mean and rude to an older gentleman that had lost his room key. She dismissed him and started our check in and barely told us about the activities.
The employees in general seem miserable and try to avoid eye contact.
The building is rundown, rugs are dirty and ceiling have stains in most areas.

I really do love the safety harbor spa. I've been going there for many many years and do the occasional overnight stay for a little get away. The spa services I booked were awesome. The young lady I was scheduled with did an amazing facial. I feel like where they need a little work is on their food and beverage staff; serving wine out of dirty wine glasses, inattentive to people standing around the bar asking them if they need anything and just the little things that would make this place over the top five stars from me

Loved the pools and aquatic exercises. The spa area people were awesome. The restaurant staff was exceptional. In the mornings, the pool area was not cleaned up ie: spilled milk, straws on ground and some in pool,glasses sitting under chairs and on tables. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and will come again.

I and my wife have been to the property several times. We have always had good experience till our last. They changed their pool policy to have to wear bracelets vs just in past going to the pool. Which i understand that they been having nonmembers abusing the pool.
I had gone to get ice and return to room before heading to the pool but i seen was very busy and decided to grab the chairs and wait for wife who would be done within a few minutes. What i forgot was she had the key and bracelets. Thats when i meet who ill call the pool bouncer. He as soon as i grabbed a towel was barking at me about bracelet. I tried to explain as he gave me a dead eye look and i don't care attitude to make the nicest person's blood boil. I decided was lost cause and wait for wife in hall, when i walked away he yelled at me for my cooler, which mind you had nothing in it and was bringing back to room not the pool. Let's say we had words back and forth and i felt like he watched us the rest of vacation. I get the situation they were trying to stop. But this employee acting like a bouncer and strolling and glaring at everyone trying to use the pool got old real fast.
He took a simple misunderstanding, refused to even hear words edgewise and acted as like i was stealing from the place. Next two days anytime i was by the pool had this guy glaring at everyone. Don't know if I'll come back anytime soon when i am looking for a place to relax. Not be watched as a intruder.

The hotel is quaint, yet elaborate. The history of the hotel is interesting. We had a good time, especially at the outdoor pool. Our concerns include the following: 1-llarge eak in roof that soaked the carpert in hallway, 2-walking around pool on very slick tile was dangerous, slipping often, 3-no microwave in guest rooms, 4-although there is plenty of room around the outdoor pool, there is no hotctub. A hot tub would be acgreat addition. 5-waiter in restaurant was way too overworked and it took a long time to get our food, which was only lobster bisque and coconut shrimp.

The hotel has historic significance, however, the rooms need a facelift. The doors are old, chain link "security " lock! I traveled for work and its been years since a bill was slipped under the door. Outside pool was packed. No chairs. Main St was pretty neat. Not as pricey as hotel. Food was ok at hotel.

What I didn’t like?
1) The place had disgusting carpet. The carpets were not clean at all.
2) bathtub wasn’t clean good. Thanks God I always carry stuff with me.
3) if you have 2 people in a room it should have two soaps for body, 2 shampoos etc.

Loved the property and that it was peaceful. I read reviews about how antiquated it looked but it isn't - it was built in 1924 and that's what gives it character. Would've given a 5 except for the staff - mostly the front desk staff. Folks, they really need to improve that. I was the ONLY person in the lobby, standing directly in front of the front desk gentleman and he wouldn't even look up and acknowledge me. We only had to go to front desk twice, once when our key didn't work and once when we needed towels and a trash bag. All three people in my party felt like we were an inconvenience, and the answer was more I'm the vernacular of "too badeaeau" or "oh well". Property was beautiful.

The hotel was dated. It seemed like they remodeled, but everything including the food was straight from the 70s. I try to stay out of politics, but theyhad Newsmax on in the lobby. It seemed like they were catering to a specific clientele, which is surprising for a Wyndham owned hotel.

I was there for the Super bowl a few years ago when Tampa played in Tampa. The hotel was great just lil outdated other than that it was a great stay its big got turned around a time or two but othat that that had a great stay will be back again!!

Beautiful property and one of our favorite places to stay! Easy parking and many restaurants and quaint shops in walking distance. I left a few clothing items in a drawer and the staff went above and beyond to mail them back to me. Wonderful customer service!

Lovely, but needs a bit of work
We checked in at about 11 pm. I asked if the pre-ordered hypo-allergenic bedding was confirmed and I was told by the person at the Front Desk that he didn’t know & housekeeping had left. Then I was asked if I needed help with bags. I said I did not then was told about the hike I needed to take because there was a broken elevator (that was never fixed the entire week of our stay). I then said I could use help & was told that the bellman left at 11. Really? I did not feel this was the best welcome. Luckily, engineering found pillows for me. A hotel if this caliber should have been better prepared.
The elevator that did work was just painted but had quite a bit of the wood missing. The hotel needs a bit of a facelift, but we had a lovely stay, despite the rocky start. Front desk needs sone training in customer service.

We have stayed at this property before but it’s been a few years. I was surprised to see how bad it has deteriorated with no effort to maintain. Rooms are terrible deferred maintenance and foul odor, so much so we checked out a day early and booked a different place. No effort was made to determine why we were leaving I can only assume they already know. If you haven’t stayed here in a while I would re-think returning.

Bad customer service
To start, the check-in process was not easy. The clerk who helped us was new, you could tell. We were PROMISED rooms next to each other and when she assigned the rooms and they were not, we asked how far apart they were but she couldn't even tell us. I asked her to asked someone that would know! We were then told they were sold out and couldn't help it. Bad customer service! The next bad customer service came when I called 10 minutes after 10:30 a.m. for room cleaning the next day. Supposedly their cut off is 10:30 a.m. on the nose. I was told they could not add us to the list! So the whole 3 nights we were there, we never got our room cleaned or so much as a clean towel!

Spa was excellent! Friendly staff, clean , comparable prices. Resort restaurant overpriced. Thank goodness for the local spots up and down the main road. Was Looking forward to nightly entertainment only saw a piano player one night. Rooms were nice but paid for a kitchenet and got a mini fridge. Microwave would have been nice too.

We had an overall great stay, front desk were very friendly. However, the receptionist for the spa that was working for 2 of the days was rude at times and often flirting with someone instead of attending to other guests. This was the only issue we experienced, otherwise all staff were very friendly and helpful.
The upstairs lounge area was great and the restaurant food was exceptional! We also got a couples massage, which was absolutely perfect. Overall a great place to go for a vacation!

Needs Renovation Bad
The hotel is in a great location and the exterior grounds are good. However the balance of the property including guest rooms is not good. The interior is in need of renovation badly. Carpet is worn and stretched, walls have visible blemishes, doors to rooms are not self closing, decor is extremely dated. Staff was fine but I wouldn't stay again for free.

The location was great. I was able to walk to a lot of bars, restaurants, shops, and more.
The bay view rooms have an amazing view of the sunrise.
The room was good for my needs, however it hasn’t been updated in a very long time. The bathroom could use it. The vent in mine didn’t work.

The devour is outdated. There were 2 days/nights where there were no parking available 1st valet allowed us to park there no charge. Next day a different valet employee was very rude and sarcastic. They wanted us to park on grass all the way in corner where there was no lighting. Pool was not warm and food very expensive on resort. Several parking spots taken by golf carts.

We loved the beautiful grounds, our large room and balcony. Tiki bar was great. Plenty of beautiful walking trails and great restaurants and bars near by. The staff was so nice and helpful. My only cons were the in room coffee was horrible and the outdoor pool and chairs need some attention.

The pool and the surrounding areas are very nice. However, the room we stayed in was badly in need of a makeover. The bed was comfortable but the carpet and bathroom were gross. The bath towels were hard and scratchy. We attended an event on the Sunday of our stay. The staff was terrific and very accommodating. The food was terrific.

I like that it was historical but the rooms needed some serious updating! We were with a large group of guests and many of the rooms were spacious (excellent!), however the furniture, walls, carpets, sinks were outdated or cracked, etc.

The old grand dame ain't what she used to be
I was expecting more. The hotel is a landmark and know to be an elegant place to stay in the area, so I was excited to book a little get away for my hubby and I.
Our room, essentially was fine. The bed is very high, so if you're under 5'7", you'll be jumping up to get in. There are NOT enough outlets for modern life, and absolutely no USB ports what so ever. That makes it difficult in day and age of cell phones, laptops and iPads.
In my particular room, the safety lock was useless. It appears as if the room had been forced open a time or two, so the chain slide no longer is a valid method of security.
The hotel itself is beautiful, done in shades of blue and yellow it has seen better days. It looks as though maybe there's been a renovation recently, but now maybe the staff just doesn't care. I say this because of the scuff marks along the walls where carts would be. It's a consistent pattern.
There are ceiling tiles that should have been replaced ages ago for the prestige of this location. Frankly it feels as though the grand dame is being ignored by her staff. That the interior work is being forgotten I can guarantee no one will forget the Mildew Hallway of 2022.

The temp was freezing in the meeting rooms. Hot and humid in the halls. The guest rooms smelled musty. Carpet felt damp under your feet... Furnishings were old. Paint was peeling. Overall in need of remodeling and new ownership...

I love the resort but the property is old and I had problems opening my bedroom door. The was also peeling paint in the bathroom and stains on the ceiling by the closet. Some of the staff was friendly but some of the people behind the counter were not helpful and did not try to be helpful.

This is an old Florida feel resort. The property is not the newest, fanciest or most updated. However, it is so charming and fun that it seems easy to overlook a few of the areas you might usually see. Such a fun place to visit with all the options you could ask for within walking distance.

Safety Harbor Resort and spa has always been our go to when we are staying in town. This trip wasn't like the others. The staff was very cold and not very friendly, the pool was gross, There were never any pool towels available , you had to go searching for them. I booked this trip for my husbands 40th birthday back in the beginning of April
I called to see about getting massages and facials scheduled back then and the spa clerk said said everything was completely full. Try calling back closer to the reservation. So I called again two weeks from my arrival date and again everything was full except a 25MN spa cation. so I took it. Very disappointing

check in clerk had no idea what was going on. She had asked me 3 times have I been here before? I answer yes multiple times. She handed me my receipt and asked me to sign and leave a tip for the massage that I hadn't received yet, But never handed me a pen to sign. nor explain anything further. overall the stay was good, room was nice, view is always amazing. I love safety harbor spa and resort but they really need to work on staff and amenities.

No everyone is Welcome-
The receptionist did not even have a smile to offer, he was like a robot. He asked if I had been in that hotel before, I told him no, but he did not give me more information about the activities that I could do in the hotel spa. He sent me to the farthest room in the left wing 218, the balcony was rusty, the plants neglected, the dumpster next to the room, the room smelled too much of an air freshener that seemed to want to hide some bad smell, the carpet looked stained , in the bathroom the air sprinkler did not work, air conditioning cannot be regulated.
Unfriendly staff, only two girls treated us correctly, they were at the spa to which I finally decided to go, Carolina and Patri (Excellent people).
About the bad there was also something good, the pool is open 24 hours, the water is perfect in temperature.
Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Spa is Nice, Elegant Entrance.

Hanging on to past glory
Thé hôtel was a bit run down. The staff was friendly but the premises themselves smelled kinda moldy and the room in which we stayed smelled faintly of stale cigarettes. The restaurant was strikingly understaffed and the breakfast buffet was similar to what you’d find in a mid-level (at best) hotel. Maybe like a La Quinta. I’m sure this place had its day, but today is not that day.

Over used and under maintained
It is always the details. Check in was haphazard.
The room air conditioning was loud. The toilet seat
hinges were broken. The common pool underwater light had been removed and placed in the pool gutter. Common pool is generally dirty. This used to be the best find near Tampa: now it is just over used and under maintained.
