Beacon theater visit
Loved our hotel stay. Very comfortable with a separate living room and small kitchen. The bathroom was small and tight but clean and great water pressure on shower. Next door to the beacon theater which was a tremendous benefit to attending our Seinfeld show. All good.

Room was large enough and very clean. Bathroom and kitchen are very small and looked old, but everything was in working condition. King bed and mattress was good. Staff is very friendly and very responsive (fast and no lines). Check-in and check-out was very quick and smooth.

Always loving it
I love this hotel. The rooms are spacious, and I had the most helpful small kitchen. I found everything to be clean to my satisfaction. The bed was very comfortable. I could have wished for a tiny bit more water pressure in the shower. Overall, my three night stay will lead me to come back!

We’ve been coming to Hotel Beacon for 30 years and always enjoyed our stays. The location is excellent for subway, bus, taxi service, very walkable - Central Park is 4 blocks close - and right in the midst of the vibrant Upper West Side. We especially appreciate that the hotel is always maintained fresh and new and the rooms are very quiet. Last, the housekeepers and whole staff are very professional, always very nice and accommodating.

Disappointing
Booking 2 nights for a cost of almost $700 just for lodging would, you’d think, guarantee a nice stay.
Unfortunately, this was not totally the case.
While I appreciate that the location is a bit dated, this doesn’t excuse rusted fixtures in the bathroom, chipped paint in the bathtub, and a, I’m sorry, filthy dust ridden vent above the shower that had clearly not been cleaned for, at least, months.
Moreover, the dated fixtures and room decoration is in serious need of update.
Finally, when heading to dinner on our final night, we requested extra towels be sent to the room. Not only was the attendant seemingly annoyed we were even asking him for anything, he sharply inquired what we meant by more towels. Then, once clarified, sent the them up.
Imagine our surprise when we got back to the room and the towels were inside. Not waiting outside our door / at the desk - in the room.
It felt very invasive that someone entered without asking.
Overall, an incredibly overpriced, unfortunate experience.

Booked a corner studio with a city view months in advance for a decent sum. Arrived to find they not only did not have any corner studios available, they only had rooms with one bed. We were a party of 3, two adults and a 13-year old daughter. We were not going to all sleep in one double bed! Eventually they found a room for us with two beds. Still not a corner with a city view. Shower handle was broken when we entered the room, and we saw roaches in the room when we came back at night. Offered us a discount if we ever stay again. We will not.

Very homey hotel with spacious rooms in an excellent location. The staff is welcoming and attentive.
Rooms are well equipped, but need some TLC:
* We had trouble turning off the heater (we like to sleep with windows open and heat off, but it kept on turning on all the time).
* Fridge is loud.
* Stove refused to give a spark on occasion.
* Some outlets were not working.
Even with all these small problems this place remains one of our favorite hotels in NYC.
We stayed here many times before and will most likely stay again.

Loved this hotel! The area is great, as a tourist you can walk everywhere but you still get to meet locals on the cafeterias, restaurants, supermarkets around the hotel. Its very close to a subway line that takes you to downtown. Minutes walk to central park as well. Fantastic location.
The rooms were large, we had a suite since we were staying for a week and worked perfectly having a living room with sofa bed and two queens on the room. Also, one of our favorite things was to have a kitchen, so we didnt have to be at restaurants and cafeterias everyday/everymeal with the kids, and hest of all, there are two super markets just in front of the hotel. One of them is actually quite exquisite and has incredible seafood and meat. We were able to cook some breakfast and dinner when tired from all the walking in the city. Staff was very nice as well. Truly, highly recommend. There might be some areas like where the hotel plaza that might be a bit more central(10-15 minutes walk) , however all that area its extremely pack with cars and tourist, its great to see it but for us not to spend our entire holidays there, Beacon hotel its next to it but you get the local new york flavor!

King Me!
The King Suite was as large a room as many apartments in NYC. Well worth the splurge. Having the ability to cook a light breakfast or have leftovers in the fridge is a great thing when travelling.

Great place to stay for shows at The Beacon Theate
If you’re going to see a show at the Beacon theater, the Hotel Beacon is the place to stay. It is literally next-door, and there’s lots of good food and coffee and restaurants and museums and anything else you can think of within a 15 minute walking radius.

Great friendly hotel in a convenient location. Laundry and gym on the premises. You need quarters for laundry soap, although the machines take credit cards. One window in our 24th floor suite was super hard to get closed once it was open. Bu7t everything else was stellar! Highly recommended.

Great place with gorgeous views
I love this hotel. It has an an historic vibe., the building is 100 years old. The suite was very generous with a kitchenette and large closets really very good for New York. The neighborhood is great , Fairway market across the street, liquor store on the corner. tons of restaurants, drug stores, public transportation, close by great places to stay in Manhattan the kitchen it makes it really doable.

Great stay!
Our stay was comfortable, simple and price effective! Thank you to the concierge for upgrading our experience. We got a great night’s rest and even though our room on the eighth floor was facing Broadway, we slept slept soundly, and there was no noise. The room was clean and well sized, loved the convenience if the kitchenette.

Great location and opposite Fairway. Staff is exceptionally friendly. The restaurant below is easy access and the food is great. With Fairway across the street and an in-room fridge, you can be comfy at the Beacon for a number of days.

While the appearance of the hotel on the outside was nice there was a scaffolding indicating ongoing construction. I paid almost $700 dollars per night so I expected amenities and better rooms. The curtains were stationary and the blackout shade was stuck in the open position with a knot in th chain so clearly not functioning. While the Technician came quickly, he got it down but would have to call again to get it up. Unacceptable. The light switch in the room didn’t work. Lamps all manually operated. I travel quit a bit and was underwhelmed by the room. I was also surprised there were not free bottles of water or a mini bar in the room which is a standard in most hotels! The toilet in the bathroom was very low and the faucet in the sink was so short my hands hit the back of the sink whenever washing. In general,with the price being charged per night the room was badly in need of an upgrade. If I was staying more than one night I would have requested a different room. Even though the location was very convenient ( near beacon theater) I will not be booking this hotel in the future.

This is our second time staying at Hotel Beacon. Close to everything so the walkability is key. Close to great dining, coffee, transport, Central Park. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff are super friendly. We will stay here again on our next trip from Australia.

Conned by reception at check in.
We reserved and paid for a large room. We arrived an hour before check in time, exhausted, and asked for early check in. He said our room was not ready, but could check us in another room with smaller queen bed and made it sound like an upgrade. We said thank you. The room was 2501. It was very small. The toilet paper holder was broken. The toilet was so old, the porcelain was worn off. But we had been up since 3am and needed a nap. We laid down and there was a consistent pounding that even vibrated the room. We waited about 1/2 hour. Called reception. He acted liked he had never heard of this and sent 2 engineers up. They tried to act like they were investigating, but they knew exactly what it was. The top of elevator system was across the hall and evertime the elevators were used, the gears would bang. So they moved us to 1901, 6 floors beneath, same small crappy room. Same bathroom issues. Very worn out room. But no banging.We did not fight it, because too tired. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were not first rate. We stayed here because next to Beacon Theatre where we had tickets that night. We always stay at Hiltons in NYC. This hotel was a big mistake. A costly one.

Locale is super, very close to food stores. Able to cook in the rooms and can request extra plates, cookware, etc. check out time at noon is very civilized!! All employees were friendly and courteous. Quiet for a good nights sleep. Comfy bed.

Great hotel in upper west side. Highly recommend to stay in this area. Supermarket opposite the hotel, great coffee around, behind the hotel on Amsterdam Ave. Easy walk to Central Park and midtown. Great eating options, Little Italy Pizza is few blocks down. Great to stay with family in a suite, as you get a kitchen, and a separate room to put the kids to sleep, opposed to most hotels in New York.

Beautiful hotel and relatively decent cost for NYC. Staff was kind and friendly and helpful. Quiet, safe area. Close to amenities. Walking distance to Central Park, Crumbl and Zuckers Bagels, as well as 72 st. subway station. Rooms are clean with daily maid service. Comfy beds. Could use a bit of an update but overall very nice!

The staff was generally very good and helpful. The property is dated, with old plumbing and paper-thin walls through which many sounds (including shrieking babies) carry. The location was great, and after we got a quieter room, we enjoyed the rest of our stay.

We love staying at the Beacon because it feels like you are living in a neighborhood. Definitely still in the city, but away from the Times Square crowds. The market across the street, combined with the kitchenette in the hotel makes eating a breeze--and you don't have to eat every meal out. Truly a gem on the Upper West Side!

Loved staying here. It was very quiet at night. Everything was close - supermarket across the street, two blocks from train station and lots of eateries and shopping nearby. We were able to walk across central park and go to the museums on 5th ave. Excellent location! Room was clean and staff was very attentive.

The curtains would not close. The inner sheer curtain was missing. We paid for a view yet we where staring at a brick wall with a Birds Eye if you stood at the window corner. The kitchen which again was a selling point. Had no kitchen utensils. The air conditioning solenoid was so loud it would wake us up every time it turned on. The thermostat on the wall was working intermittently.

Love this Hotel. Very laid back but efficient staff, welcoming environment, nice rooms, great location. The AC unit was a little noisy, but not terrible, and there are not enough electric sockets for today's digital travelers. But everything else is terrific.

It’s like living in a prewar building on the upper west side. The look is good size and the location is great. Plenty of places to eat and great transportation. The kitchenette was nice but I was surprised they didn’t give water bottles. Would definitely stay again

Honestly such a disappointment, I had booked this hotel for a family trip getaway thinking i was getting a mid grade hotel in New York City with a “view”. Nope. Got to the property and the guy standing at the checkin drop off was rude I asked if the hotel had any parking and he said “no, is there a problem” with the biggest attitude after a simple question asked. Checking in was fast and it was fine but the disappointment is when we got to the hotel, dirty tables, thrown around shampoo in bathroom, bath tub had stains and the water pressure was literally mist, dirty faucet and most importantly no city view at all as mentioned in the itinerary and receipt from Expedia, we book a double king bed studio with “city view” was there a reason that they needed to mention city view and price the room for $200 compared to all different rooms? False advertising is the most disappointing thing that can happen when that was the main reason we booked with beacon for the view, it was that simple, we called and asked if that’s what our room was supposed to be like and the lady on the phone said that we needed to pay an extra $118 to be moved to a different room on top of the outrageous amount spent for a motel looking hotel. Never coming here again.
