Hair on wall in shower
My husband and I stay at the GW at least 5-6 times per year. We always get the jr suite. I appreciated the updated showers. But when I got in, there was a clump of hair on the wall of the shower from a previous guest. I expect something like that from a Super 8 hotel. Not from The GW. Very disappointed.

AMAZING!
Stay was amazing, super clean, smelled AMAZING in the hallways, great food options, comfortable bed, pretty pool, enjoyed the hot tub, truly wonderful for the price. Will deffinetly be staying again, was attending a concert at bright box and it was a short convenient walk. Staff was nice and very welcoming.

We really liked the property and the surrounding area. Very cute and walkable. Lots of dining and pub options. The staff was nice and the hotel was nice as well. The only issue we had was that from 9:00am on a staff member would walk down the hall and knock on each door yelling "housekeeping!", checking to see if anyone checked out. this got to be super irritating. Other than that everything was good.

Wonderful Historic Hotel!
A wonderful hotel that really gives old world luxury a proper go of it.
The rates are also reasonable for luxury suites.

Okay but not worth the money
The room was a bit over priced. Also the temperature in the room kept getting hotter and hotter thermostat did not change temp. It was very difficult to sleep.

My wife and I always stay at The GW Hotel when we are even close to area on our travels. It's absolutely the best hotel in the area and the staff go out of their way to accommodate us. An absolute "Must Stay!"

I loved the area. Lots of History and neat buildings. The hotel was very nice but could use some updating on the inside. Very noisy, but that is because the building it is an old building. The restaurant below stated that it was a part of the Virgina oyster trail, but they did have any. Was a bummer since that's why I went there to eat, but the pizza was really good. Staff was supper friendly and attentive. Will stay again.

The room was really clean and comfy, but there was a loud party downstairs until 10:30-11pm that kept us up even though the front desk said the curfew was 10pm. It was also pricey since we also had to pay for parking ($17) and no breakfast. Otherwise a nice hotel in a cute city!

I was very disappointed that the hot tub was out of order. One of the reasons I chose this location.

Beautiful period hotel with amazing period features. OK, the rooms are a little tired but ours was clean and perfectly functional. Hotel has a decent cocktail bar and safe, free parking to the rear where there are ramps for disabled access. Close to downtown with numerous drinking and dining options. Overall, enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in the area

They recommended a walking mall and dinner spot. We tried both and both were excellent! Nice safe feeling area, we walked to dinner. So pleasant! Great breakfast downstairs, not free but reasonable very good and convenient!

Everyone was amazing. So friendly. Only issue was a/c filter was nasty clogged. Have your maintenance man go around every month and clean Will lower electric bills too. Location is perfect and the breakfast, happy hr and milk and cookies are a great touch. Can’t wait to return

Please fix the elevator
Our room was besides the elevator and it seems the elevator has some problems because it is super loud. My husband could not sleep because of the noise and vibration the elevator cause to our room. Everything else was good but in a hotel you supposed to relax and sleep but that was not the results for the hubby.

We love this property because it has character, parking, and is near the pedestrian-friendly historic section of Winchester with l restaurants and shopping. We checked in when they had a gal playing music in the bar, but it was so loud I had trouble understanding the host at the front desk. Not a big deal. The beds are super comfortable and the a/c was great..unlike many hotels where the unit is loud and makes the room feeling damp. Breakfast in the restaurant was solid, the server (Jannae ?) was great..I remember her from our last stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

Carpet looks VERY old a worn . As you walk in advertisement says fine dining , now that areas a Uno pizza- fine take the other add down !!

Our stay at The George Washington Hotel was wonderful! Our room was spacious, clean, and the bed and linens were very comfortable. The room was very quiet. We were lucky to have a parking place in the flat lot before and after dinner. The female wait staff member at breakfast was phenomenal!
Carla, the front office manager was quite helpful as it was our first, but certainly not our last stay!

A favorite...
A favorite stopover when we travel from MA to VA. Close to the pedestrian mall with lots of good restaurants and shopping. Quick and friendly check-in, they charge for parking, comfortable and clean accommodations. The restaurant below ground level is under new management since our last visit. Had a good breakfast, really great server. Be sure to stop in at the bar for an after dinner drink. The bar manager is incredibly efficient...wearing many hats. On Thursday night there was a gal who played piano and sang...a fun evening.

Upon checking into our room, my wife and I noticed that the bathroom was not cleaned as there was pubic hair on the toilet seat along with what appeared to be fecal matter, a water stained mirror and a dirty sink faucet . When we went to the front desk to notify them, the staff appeared flustered with the situation and stated “they really need to start checking the rooms” (known problem? Also not a professional statement to make in front of guests) we were offered to have the room re-cleaned or be downgraded to a room with double beds (as no other rooms were available) we decided to keep our room with a new cleaning. When we went up to get our things out of the room, we were met by a member of the cleaning staff who asked us if we were taking the double room. When we replied that we were not she stated “can y’all please just take the other room? I have 3 more rooms to clean and no staff.” While I can sympathize having a short staff, it is wildly inappropriate to request that of a guest. I definitely expected more from this hotel and the experience, unfortunately, fell short of expectations.

Got the king room with the hot tub inside but unfortunately water ended up across the entire bathroom floor from somewhere all night long, so every time we had to go to the bathroom our feet got soaked and we had to dry them before getting back in bed, a premium room shouldn’t have had such an inconvenience. Also the side of the bed closest to the wall had a piece of mantle in the way that we both gouged our backs on trying to get past and from the look of the worn paint on the corner so did many other guests.

On the plus side, for exploring historic Winchester, this is the best/perfect location where you can walk to many places with lots of dining options mere blocks away. The Half Note Bar and restaurant is also a great option without ever leaving the hotel. The rooms were clean, bed overall comfortable and shower fantastic. On the could improve side, it’s the little things…CHEAP toilet paper, non breathable duvet on the bed, loud doors (many renovated hotels are adding slow/quiet closing doors), lack of morning coffee in the lobby. There was a very small coffee station in the lobby, but the coffee was either empty or cold both mornings (I went to the Bagel shop across the street). The pluses, especially location, outweigh the negatives, so I’d still recommend overall, I just expected more attention to detail on the little things at a Wyndam Grand.
One last note, I think all hotels have taken advantage of Covid rules and made not cleaning the rooms or making beds during your stay, the industry standard in an effort to save money. You’d think this would have been reflected in the price, but if anything, prices have gone up.

Beautiful historic building with an extremely comfortable bed. Very cool, intimate bar. It has a unique pool and hottub designed like ancient grecian baths. Location is just a block away from the Historic Old Town Pedestrian Walk with lots of restaurants and shopping.

This is a very pretty property and I have stayed here a number of times. The prices seemed to have gone up in the last year. Unfortunately, the hotel was very noisy with little kids running the hall ways and banging doors until after 11 pm, which is not the kind of thing I usually experience at a hotel of this quality.

This hotel had great character with all the modern amenities. Our room (#500) was actually a suite with fireplace, four poster bed, Jacuzzi tub and large walk-in shower. We were here on a Friday and the bar was lively. The pedestrian mall is extremely close, and we had a wonderful Italian dinner nearby.

Clean, comfortable, excellent bathroom facilities, great staff. New restaurant in the basement was surprisingly delicious! Only recommendation is making sure that the hours for the basement restaurant are clear that it closes at 11 am. We met friends for a 9:30 breakfast and the staff seemed eager for us to depart. I had thought the restaurant was open until 2 as per the web site.

It's a beautiful hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Some of the furniture is wearing. Knobs missing from drawers. Drawers broken. Tiles in showers are chipping because they are this really nice stone but they are veined with a softer stone that chips out. Over all, it's a lovely place! It just needs more attention paid to details. Unfortunately, this is everywhere.
