Staff was very kind and professional. The room was in rough shape, the blinds didn’t close at all so the room was very bright all night and I had a hard time sleeping. The bathroom faucets were loose and worn out. Surprised having these issues with an expensive hotel.

A warm stay in below zero weather.
What a wonderful (cold) visit to Chicago. While it was below zero outside, our accommodations and service made us feel nice and toasty warm. Very comfortable room and bed, wonderful food onsite with Michael Jordan’s Restaurant (meatballs with whipped ricotta was so divine I enjoyed it twice), the pool was truly lovely, and the staff was superb. We will absolutely return!

The staff is super nice and very accommodating. Starbucks in the hotel a big plus. Other dining options and in room service is super expensive because of MJ steakhouse. Can hear other guests if loud (even if just talking loud on phone) but staff handles noise complaints professionally. Would recommend to stay convenient to shops and other restaurants mile or less.

I enjoyed everything about my stay here. If you have even the faintest interest in the hotel's history, make sure you explore the public areas of the hotel, starting with the third floor and working your way up.

The pool is fantastic, however it would be nice to have some time set aside for just adults or perhaps part of the pool. I love children but it was hard to get in any laps in. Thanks!

A great hotel and great value for money. Excellent location.
Excellent service. My only gripe is that it's hard to get good information from your concierge staff. They really should take a day to familiarize themselves with the immediate area. Not intended to sound rude but I've learned a lot from my last 3 stays and it would have been helpful to get better advice on the first trip. But a great, great hotel.

My first two nights I made friends with the maintenance men on staff due to multiple issues within the room. The first night our bathroom door didnt shut close, the second night everything on the backside of the room door fell off due to the door mechanism leaking. We came into the cover for said mechanism and fire escape plan on the floor. Wasnt able to be replaced due to not having parts in stock.
Our toilet seat was cockeyed on the toilet, but we decided to live with this since we had already called them twice to our room during our 4 night stay.
The bathroom also had wallapaper missing in spots, our beds didnt have a true fitted sheet on the bed. They have a bed protector and a flat sheet layed down on both double beds.
On night two we called the front desk inquiring about a late check out and if that was offered. I was informed a 12pm was complimentary or I could pay an additional $60 for a 2pm check out.
I requested a 2pm check out for the additional $60. Which they dodnt inform me would scrually be $70 due to taxes tacked onto it. I was not informed of this until I spoke with the front desk as I was checking out and was very disgruntled.
Disgruntled due to I had ensured my account was marked a late check out a second time the morning of my check out date. The lady ensured me it was marked on my reservation.
I cant fit my entire complaints in this review space. Would not recommend and will not be back.

No microwaves
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a couple of nights, and everything was great. We arrived late Friday night so we went out to eat but wanted to bring it back to the room to eat. So of course the food was cold by the time we got back thinking we could just heat it back up, but there wasn’t any microwave in our room and there weren’t any microwaves in the whole building (according to the front desk). Also, I almost got charged from the mini bar for taking out a bottle to look at it (there are sensors which I was unaware of) and put it back. Good thing the person who checked me out said something about it.

Spacious, well appointed room and great service
Exceptional service from start to finish. From the very friendly doormen to the front desk and beyond, every interaction was a fantastic experience. Room was well appointed and bed was very comfortable. Nice desk space for work and beautiful views from my 30th floor room. I've always wanted to swim laps in the pool and it's an absolute treat. I'll be a return customer when back on business.

The staff, from the valet, to the desk staff, the concierge, the bellmen, the servers at Center Court, housekeeping and spa attendants were so amazing! I don’t have a single complaint and will stay every time in Chicago! Also, the pool was such an amazing surprise for my daughter. It is gorgeous and on weekend nights, they play a movie and have popcorn and lemonade for kids! Top notch service and experience! The rooms were lovely and very clean too!

No desk or chairs in room. Pedestal sink to small to put anything on. You literally had to leave your room and find a common area to work on anything. Great price was obviously because room is so uncomfortable. Also beds so high you have to leap onto them. Area great but I’d never stay here again.

Excellent upscale historical hotel conveniently located on Magnificent Mile. Everything clean and comfortable. On site Starbucks. If you appreciate architectural character combined with modern comfort this place is for you. All staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would skip the room service chicago pizza though.

I want to be safe
One important item I would like to say is when it comes to the security of the building I thought it would be stellar however when you get to that elevator I saw many people, strangers swiping for other people, strangers that did not present their card and that for me is a threat of concern that should be addressed immediately.

This is a great location on the Magnificent Mile…..close to shopping, dining and everything in between. I reserved this room with the parking option. There’s no parking garage. You will have to valet. The rooms were a good size and nicely renovated. One thing that was missing was more outlets. All in all, it’s a great place to stay!

I’ve stayed at the InterContinental in NYC Amant times. This was my first stay in Chicago. Upon arrival my son got locked in our bathroom because it did not have an interior doorknob. Maintenance fixed it so quickly, but if I hadn’t been in the room or he didn’t have a phone with him he would have been stuck. Our room keys didn’t work twice, but Dakota fixed them and even escorted me to our room to make sure they would work. Beds we’re very comfortable and you can’t beat the location. I would stay again.

Business Trip in a great location
This stay was die to a business trip to attend another conference. I am so glad that I stayed in this hotel. It was a GREAT experience. Location is ideal and the hotel has great history and design. The pool is incredible and nice sauna and fitness center. Conference areas are old world classy.

Stayed at hotel numerous times past 8 years. Very nice and friendly. This time host at front desk slightly rude and seemed put out when i asked for a late check out at noon. But biggest complaint is the numerous emails past 24 hours to rate hotel but no statement of service. Just got off phone as i had to call and ask for it. I specifically called front desk and asked them to email it.

No welcome drink, no attention to detail theres 3 guest but only 1robe in the room no complimentary slippers, no seating area in the lobby, its all business no customer care with the resort fee the hotel charges, they need to upgrade the cofee machine for a 4 star hotel

Great location, just a couple of blocks from the Riverwalk and walkable to many other attractions. Very clean. Helpful staff. Starbucks and Michael Jordan Steakhouse are accessible from the lobby. Would definitely recommend.

We loved everything about our stay at this lovely hotel. The service was second to none. Angelica Crain, the Care Experience Supervisor, is excellent, professional, friendly, and provided great suggestions for Chicago activities and restaurants. She truly puts this hotel over the top. My sister and I were visiting Chicago from GA for my birthday, and Angelica couldn't have made it a better experience. We adored her!

Great trip!
I can’t thank Chavela enough! She made the experience for my 40th birthday one to remember. The hotel is extremely beautiful and a perfect location. Since this was my first time in Chicago and staying at the Intercontinental, Chavela gave us a upgrade to the 37th floor and a complimentary bottle of champagne. Thank you again for making my birthday memorable.

Great location downtown on Michigan Avenue. Plenty of shopping on the Magnificent Mile and close to the river walk. As for the stay, it was altogether an average hotel stay. Room size was ok, but lacking sitting furniture other than a desk chair and fabric chair when you've got 2 adults and 2 kids sharing a room. Don't bother showing up early, even after you're sent an email stating you can pay $40 for the chance of early check- in. We arrived at 12:30pm with hopes to check in early and couldn't. We tried calling when a couple hours away and were told we wouldn't know until arrival. Was told we'd be prioritized so we stayed nearby, but didn't get into our room until nearly 3:30pm while standard check-in in 3pm. That cost us a few hours of exploring the city as we were only staying 2 nights. The pool is probably the largest I've seen in a hotel and they did a movie night that the kids enjoyed. It's also the deepest (4ft -10ft), which limits those that aren't strong swimmers to one end of the pool. Our room wasn't cleaned until around 5pm, which is also not a great experience. All in all, this wouldn't be a priority hotel for us, but at the right place would stay again.

I booked a executive 2 queen room. When I checked in, they didn't have it and put me in a corner with a King and sofa bed. They accommodated with a roll away at no extra charge for my teenager son. It was perfect. This is how a 4 star hotel should be. I love how the hotel has different elevators for the executive rooms. The floors were so quiet. The cleaning lady was so sweet and accommodating. She was probably a Ukrainian refugee with her accent bc my daughter's boyfriend is Russian Ukrainian. My parents were refugees in the mid 70's and I remembered how hard they worked. This lady was no different. Thank you Intercontinental for giving hard working people like this lady a future.
I definitely will return to this hotel again and again.

Our stay here really worked well. One note, This Hotel has the Michael Jordan Grill and I am sorry to say that I witnessed (heard) some very foul-mouthed prejudiced references in a conversation between a couple of guests our my. I encourage IHG to make a greater effort to inform guests that disparaging remarks and behaviors are not acceptable. (Chicago is full of a variety of wonderful and varied individuals).

Although I requested a early check in and late check out and was not accommodated, I would still recommend this hotel. It was very clean, very quiet even with all the traffic, and very efficient (getting a room quick after not getting my request from Expedia). I also recommend the Michael Jordan Steakhouse, which is in the hotel.
