Good things,very good. Bad things, very, very bad
it was very clean and bed was comfortable, HOWEVER, train coming by three times throughout the night blaring its horn was an added feature i wasn't prepared for. black out shades serve no purpose if there are stops that keep them from closing more than half way. couch and companion chair were very uncomfortable to sit on. water pressure for shower created only a bit more than a drizzle. friday "hot" breakfast items were cold and rubbery (8am). auto waffle maker pointless if not turned on and no batter available. coffee in lobby by check-in counter was outstanding, though.

Beautiful historic building now as a hotel in a great location if you are visiting Newberry SC. Staff was very friendly. The rooms themselves are very beat up though, and considering how full the parking lot was I would think Hilton could invest in cleaning it up a little. Wall mounted nightstand was half off the wall, peeling wall paper and stains in the bathroom, tub was scratched up a lot, drawers wobbled in the bathroom, toilet was very particular to get it to flush all the way, etc. Nothing worth calling maintenance over/asking for a better room, but the room could use some TLC.

When I arrived at 9:30 am the front desk clerk (Lesley) was on a personal phone call. I had to wait until she had "time" for me. When I explained I needed a room for a driver who was required by OSHA to get min 8 hrs and asked if she had our room available she pointed to the sign "Check in at 3.pm". I asked if 1 room was open. She pointed again. I asked her if she could.let me know as soon as one was available and she balked and said "our cleaning staff doesnt cone in until 10 am (30 minutes later). I said I would be back. I teturned at 11 am and she was again on a personal.call. I spotted maids cleaning roomss on the 1st floor down from the lobby and walked down to ask when one would be available and was told they had 3 ready. She walked ke to the front desk where Lesley angrily alfinnaly gave me a room.
I will NEVER stay there again!!!

This was the worst experience of all our years of travel! Never have we been robbed in a hotel room while we were out. We have stayed outside of the US and it never happened to us there. There was no safe in the room. Also the cameras hit every room but 3 on each floor. Guess which room we were in? You guessed it! The hotel has done NOTHING to try and compensate us for the almost $5000 worth of electronics and other items that were stolen. NOT HAPPY!!!

Room and bathroom was very clean. The only thing that could have been better was the room had a musty smell that reminded me of locker room. But it wasn’t so bad as to pose a problem.

Great location!
We really like this Hampton Inn next to the Newberry Opera House. What a great location and a perfect weekend for the Oktoberfest!! The only issue we had was that we booked a room with a king size bed but were given a room with two queen beds. The front counter said they were full and could not change our room. She was very polite and said she would reach out to management about a possible discount in the future. We will see about any compensation during checkout.

Great stay. This is serious knit picking, but the bed comforter was scratchy. Their water fountain was not working. The pool was closed because of the storm the day before. I’m sure some kind of PH imbalance or something. No big deal.
I critique everything, so just trying to be real. Would I book there again…absolutely.

The flooring in our bathroom had spaces between the planks and some pieces were missing Worse than that when we took a shower, the water flooded the bathrooom floor be cause the floor was in stalled incorrectly. The floor in the shower should have been lower so the water wouldn't have run out all over the bathroom. We were fortunate that we didn't slip and fall.

Good choice for the area
The stay was great. Nice and quiet. Hotel seemed a bit on the dirty side. Trash was in elevator lobbies practically all night and seen the next morning. Front desk staff was ok. Not very interested in their jobs at that moment of check in. No big deal.

The building was beautiful and the breakfast options were very good. The bed was comfortable. However, all hallway areas and our room smelled like cigarette smoke. Also, the room was damp whether we set the temperature cooler or warmer. We would stay here again but would like it more if the odor and dampness was corrected.

Awesome staff. Room was clean but smelled like a wet dog, I didn’t think much of it until I come home and my dog wouldn’t stop sniffing me. Not a huge deal for me being a dog owner but I could see where this could cause issues with folks not pet friendly

Issues we had:
1 - Reserved Non-smoking room. Room had definitely been smoked it as the smell hit me as soon as I opened the door.
2 - Exhaust fan in bathroom didn’t work.
3 - Bathroom light switch mostly broken, but still worked.
4 - 1st floor ice maker out of order and had to go to upper floors for ice.
6 - Juice dispenser out of order, so no juice for complementary breakfast.
For the price I paid for the room I would have expected a much better stay.

A good choice for our family .
We had a very pleasant stay . I had read in reviews that the breakfast was lacking but we were very pleased with the variety and quality of the food . There was a small glitch at check-in but it was solved at the front desk . All in all , a very nice experience and perfect if you are attending a concert at the Newberry Opera House .

The hotel itself was fine for a one night stay. Clean room and bathroom with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent with hot foods like pancakes/waffles/eggs/toast and cereals, etc and started early at 6am which was great as we had to check out early. The only downside was that it was quite pricey, >$200 for the night which taken together with our experience in the town itself, I wouldn't recommend staying.
My biggest complaint was the area of the hotel. Despite being very quaint, the town of Newberry seemed very 'sketchy'. We arrived at 4pm on a Monday evening. There was virtually no one out around and walking in the area outside of the hotel despite it being a warm spring day. ALL shops and restaurants were closed; we couldn't find any food available within walking distance of the hotel. Something just seemed off. I googled the city and apparently it has quite a high crime rate- I wonder if this was why?
We randomly picked this town to stop for the night for a long commute. I wished I had read more about the surroundings as we were not able to get anything to eat or enjoy our evening away. Therefore, would not recommend for this reason. Hotel itself was fine.

We love Newberry
We stayed 2 nights while attending the Masters golf tournament in Augusta. The room was clean, well appointed, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s located in the historic downtown district of Newberry. Lovely shops, the Opera House, and a park are all within walking distance.

This is non-smoking hotel, yet when I made the management aware that someone was smoking cigarettes in their room across from mine, they did nothing to rectify the problem. This was my 5th time staying there and the third time I have had to complain about someone smoking inside the hotel and, of course, near my room.

I loved that the motel was across the street from the Newberry Opera House as well as the small downtown area. It was also very quiet and we literally in the first room down the hall from the lobby/breakfast area. Overall we had an excellent experience here!

We had come to visit Newberry, SC for our anniversary.
There are good restaurants within 2 to 5 minutes walk.
Though there were no shows this weekend, the Opera House is right across the street.
Figaro’s Bar across the street the other way had a fine band playing.
Our stay has been very enjoyable.

Hotel needs maintenance. Still using Covid to keep all amenities at a minimum. Ice machine not working. Mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. Tv channels don’t match the guide! Very confusing. It’s a 2-star charging 3-star rates. Try the new Holiday Inn closer to I-26!!!

Great Place if you are in Newberry
I haven't stayed in a Hampton in a while but it was a perfically nice clean place. Some other brands have a little more updating in terms of the bed and interior decorating. The biggest problem with this hotel is not the hotel at all. If you stay for a concert at the Opera House dont expect a bite of anything to eat in the downtown area after the show
