hotel was very nice, the free (included in resort fee) shuttle was great for dinning or going out for cocktails.
DO NOT get a room with a joining room unless you require it. You can hear your neighbors conversations.

Pretty grounds and lobby but chaotic pool scene
Mixed feelings about this resort. The lobby and grounds are beautiful. The water amenities (kayaks, paddle boards) were awesome, as was the attendant. Biggest issue was the hotel was super crowded on 2 of the 3 days we were there. So crowded, we couldn’t find chairs to sit on by the pool or beach. And yet we paid nearly $500 for that night. I think outside people come for the restaurant and tiki bar and stay at the pool. It was also a chaotic clientele.
It was super hot during our stay and the pool was hot. Plus the ocean is not really that desirable to swim in- no real beach and very shallow and lots of plants.
Also, the actual rooms were just OK. Seems like the hotel was updated with new lobby and new room furnishings and new flooring but it is otherwise a dated property.
I will say the complimentary laundry was great.

Bait and switch. It markets itself as a 4 star plus resort but it is barely a step up from Motel 6. No luggage carts. 1 useless bell hop. 3 hours to get pillows missing from room from housekeeping. Manager leaves over the weekend and staff check out, responding to a request with “What do you want me to do about it?” when asked for pillows.

Everything was great. The property was beautiful! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The shuttle service was very convenient. The only thing that I couldn’t rate 5 stars was the hotel restaurant. We only ate there one night, because the food was very mediocre. We had no complaints about the food at the tiki bar by the pool.

This resort is quaint and wonderful for young families. We appreciated the pool with ocean view. The easy order menus and bar service. My kids loved the paddle boards, daily activity (foam party) and the bicycles.
As adults who like to enjoy several cocktails on vacation we had a fond appreciation for quick shuttle rides to our favorite local eateries.
My kids shuttled to Siesta key to enjoy the beach and the driver ensured they made their destination and also hung around in case they wanted to head back to the resort. They loved taking rides to the Starbucks and having their own driver waiting for them once they were done.

We had the most relaxing time and the resort is in the best location to food and experiences! Access to La Siesta is a plus. We went during the work week, which made it a lot less crowded. I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone!

Overall, we had a great time on our honeymoon. The beach was always very well kept and had plenty of seating for sitting in the sun. We got to enjoy some of the special occasions such as yoga in the morning and bingo for drink vouchers in the evening. They did have espresso coffee which we enjoyed in the morning. Would recommend for someone wanting a nice resort.

They are under new management and have made some nice changes. Beach towels are now by the pool, metal water bottles are given at check in and water stations are available to refill them. Free shuttle service is offered within a range. We used it every night to take us to dinner. Lunch at the pool bar is very good.

The area is wonderful, we select this hotel for our son birthday, our Tommy was 513 on 5 floor ,we would like to share this point for the future,needs more waiters today my family had breakfast in the area outside in front of the pool and we waited a long time ,last night at dinner the waiter took 40 minutes to bring the dessert after dinner due to not enough of employees ,in the room The bathroom was not very clean, the shower needs to be scrubbed, it had black parts on the tile on the side of the shower door, balcony was derty and light between bed doesn’t work,Otherwise, it is an excellent place to spend family vacations.thanks so much Zulema Ornelas .

From the moment you walk into the lobby, you are in awe of the ocean view and tranquil decorations that greet you. The staff was so friendly, accommodating and stived to make your stay perfect! The bar in the LARGE pool area was great to have for poolside drinks and food. The staff at the pool was attending to your every need. The chairs at beachside were comfortable and clean and so peaceful. The rooms were spotless with a lot of space, comfy beds and huge, modern bathrooms! This was a gem of a find and we will definitely be back!!!

We reserved an oceanfront, beach ground floor with a king size bed months ago - upon our arrival they told us we were being “upgraded” to the 5th floor suite - this was a very large suite with 2 queen beds - not at all what I had booked- apparently our original room reservation was over sold - bait and switch- they get you there and you don’t have much choice . They said that someone should have called and told us this - nope. They gave us a hotel credit of $150. Just beware if you book a ground floor oceanfront- there are only 5 of these rooms. Disappointing .

The resort does not look like it was advertised on their website and on Expedia. I had a high rate of over $450 a night and they gave us a room on the parking lot. Terrible experience where they should have given us a room with the best view. There is no beach. No help from the staff to make the experience better. I would recommend to just stay at a Motel for a night as we did not spend any time at the hotel due to terrible parking lot viw. and level.

The beach area, pool and tiki bar are good spots to hang, but the food is not good. Lynne making lates was the bomb. The chicken and Mediterranean bowls were average. Shrimp cocktail and calamari were bad. The bed and pillows were in line with a 2 or 3 star hotel. The beach chairs need to be replace because they are all sunk in. We got partial ocean view and we mostly looked out to the pink hotel next door and the parking lot. All in all for the price, it's not worth it. Pay the extra $ and stay at Cheeca within walking distance to a lot more restaurants/bars.

Communal areas of the hotel are great. Rooms are clean but a little basic. The staff are friendly but not very helpfull. We had an issue with the bed in our room. Told reception after the first night. By the 4th night it still had not been fixed. We checked out with the issue still there.

Arrival to Amara Cay was very welcoming and property was very nice. How hotel room on the other had had an issue. The sofa bed pull out for our child was stained and full of pet hair. The sofa bed had a plain mattress no pillows or sheets. We contacted the desk and a gentleman came and noted the couch and tried to clean it in house but it was far too dirty to clean by hand. He apologized and commented how uncommon this was but the hotel was going through renovations and that the hotel was also booked and no other couch options to replace this badly soiled one was available. The desk apologized but could not assist us. We were forced to have our 14 year old daughter sleep in the king bed with us which made the trip uncomfortable at night time. We booked Amara Cay because we heard good things about the hotel. The only option we had was for a king bed room with pull out sofa at time of booking. The hotel itself and the staff were great. We were very displeased with the condition of the sofa bed and that nothing else could be done.

We have stayed here before but this time it smelled like we were staying down in the basement. It had a horrible mildew smell that was annoying and unpleasant, but room was nice. We had a ground level Lanai and that was my favorite part and worth the extra so we could sit outside and get fresh air. It had 2 lounge chairs with a small table, and 2 chairs to sit on and the view was spectacular as always. They had activities for the kids as it was Easter and we saw the Easter bunny. There was a man at the dock with fishing poles in the morning and the kids were out there fishing too. They also had an Easter brunch but we weren't able to stay. The boutique had really cute things and they sold quality bathing suits.

It’s a beautiful property and the staff is wonderful. The gentleman for activity rentals was amazing. It’s not a big resort and that was a plus so you’re never feeling crowded. We were able to sit at the fire pit one night, the kids played ping pong and we got chairs at the pool/beach. But… they need to gut the inside. So much mold in the rooms and stairwell. Mold in the bathroom vent and rusty water dripping out. Chunks of tile missing in the bathroom. They told us at check in about the game room and found on our own it’s no longer in existence. And the prices to eat are insane. Easily $120 every meal for 3 people. Some food was amazing and worth the price (lobster bisque) but kids Kraft ma and cheese is not worth the cost nor the aweful Cesar salad. Can’t wait to go back to the Keys but staying elsewhere. It’s just not worth the price.

Our balcony room was a view to the parking lot which was not what I booked. They could not move my room so our curtain stayed shut the whole time so that people in parking lot wasn’t staring at us. The pool was nice. The beach was nice to sit at but in order to swim you have to walk down stairs. Not what I expected. It was an ok hotel but I would not stay again. I went for the beach and it disappointed.

Suite has room with no windows!! Imagine that!! Bar at the lobby charged my cousin $17.20 per two small coffees. It is pet friendly but no grass for my puppy to go to. Well,if you count smallest fake grass arrea in the world. No grass anywhere! Suite has small kitchen but totally empty,no one glass,no plate, no silverware...nothing. not even paper towel or tissue. So what's the point of having kitchen!! They charged you resort fee but it it was already very expensive. Never ever again. I 've learned the hard way

Amara Cay was the perfect place to stay in islamorada. We were here for two days on the way to Key West. The staff was so friendly and always wanting to make your stay the best it could be. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. The decor in the lobby is beautiful too. The rooms were a little plain but spacious and clean. I would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone. We loved it!

We had a wonderful four day stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The housekeeping staff was so friendly and effecient and quiet! Everyone from the desk folks to the maintenance people were pleasant and cheery at every chance meeting. We had a problem with one of our entrees, and it was fixed promptly! Job well done.

This was the third time we stayed at this property. It’s a nice mixture of quiet and isolated, but also has a very nice large lobby, common area with fire pits and outdoor dining, and a nice pool area with tiki bar. The beaches are well groomed and nice for sitting in the sun, so you have the option of being on the sand or at the pool.
Our first room had a very slow flushing toilet and slow shower drain. We shifted rooms and everything was great in the second room.
The restaurant on site is just ok, and pricey, but you can walk to a great breakfast cafe off site, and a couple of restaurants are walking distance. Others are a few minutes of driving.
Staff was friendly and helpful the entire stay. We will be back for a 4th visit soon.

This place has beautiful grounds, a lovely lobby and dining area. The pool and pool bar are great and the fire pits on a cool night are perfect.
However, the food on premises is mediocre and expensive. The charge for a cup of coffee is $6 or $7. (Although there are free refills). It is walking distance to 2 dinner places and one little breakfast joint.
The staff at check in was friendly but overall not everyone was.
We would definitely go back, knowing the negatives.

Enjoyed our stay. The staff tending the kayaks were exceptionally friendly as well as the bar tenders, both inside and outside by the pool. Don’t expect too much of a night life. Islamorada basically shuts down by 10pm (we visited in early March).

I give Amara Cay a mixed review. The location, grounds, 'beach', ambience was great. It was nice to have fire pits and comfortable outdoor seating options in the eve. Having water activity options on site was a bonus. The service was barely just ok. The room was ok. The food and drink prices were ridiculously expensive for the quality.

Room was not ready at 6:30. Recent work had been done but room not prepared. The staff hopped on it and an hour later it was fine. They were very accommodating and gave us a room credit for the delay. Otherwise Amara Cay is very above average place with a very nice pool deck overlooking a sandy area along the ocean front.

We spent a 2 night quick getaway here & I can’t say enough. Amara Cay was comfy, clean, & relaxing. The shuttle service allowed us to relax and enjoy our nights out. We even squeezed in a bit of kayaking & SUP. We will def be back.

Overall the experience was good, Staff was very friendly, and the facility was nice overall but not over the top.
The water pressure is terrible would be one issues for me, and the bathrooms are a bit tight and not well lit. None of this was a deal breaker and was fine just general things I thought could be better.
I also felt like the facility is very understaffed in terms of the customer service. Particularly the Bar agian not a deal breaker but took up to 10-15 mins to wait at the bar to get a drink and you can tell those guys are doing there best and needed some help.

Resort was nice and quiet. Live music, two fire pits with dining area made the outdoor experience that much nicer. Great swimming pool and tiki bar with ocean views. It was also great that they provided bus shuttle service, I never used my car. They took us to and from the resort and different attractions within the Isla Morada area. This was great as parking is limited on the property. Dinner and breakfast were pricey, but the food was delicious and worth it. For two people, dinner=$222 tip included breakfast= $70 and dine-in room dinner was $90. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. Would recommend.

Truly an amazing staycation for my boyfriend and I overall! Our ocean view suite was a dream and to be able to walk directly onto the beach from our room was phenomenal. Bar drinks were also tasty and loved the happy hour specials. Dinner at Reelcatch was top notch and I highly suggest trying the wagyu steak frites. The other great thing was the resort never felt too busy, making the experience more intimate and luxurious. My only reason for docking one star is because the property must be more clear about pet rules. We were aware this was a pet-friendly property and it was why we chose it but nowhere was it stated that pets couldn’t eat indoors at the restaurant, only that they couldn’t be at the beach or pool. Our last meal before leaving we were seated by a hostess with our dogs indoors and serviced by two different waiters without issue. Then about 20 minutes later and after placing our order, a manager came out to tell us our dogs couldn’t be with us inside, but that she would “allow it” and my puppy had to be on the ground at all times. There were plenty of opportunities for the staff to tell us at the beginning what the rules were but they chose not to until we had ordered. Then the manager proceeded to come out every few minutes (sometimes coming to our table to talk to us even though we had a waiter) to keep tabs on us. It felt uncomfortable and spent $80 to eat my meal bent over the table with one hand on my pet so they wouldn’t roam on the ground.

The room was amazing with a few exceptions. The bathroom sink faucet was too short therefore you couldn’t wash very well. The shower head was too close to the wall which made it difficult to rinse.
I was extremely disappointed with restaurant menus. The food selections were minimal with exorbitant prices. We didn’t eat at the resort.
