The hotel needs a deep cleaning. The breakfast provided also needs some improvement. Not the best Hampton Inn I’ve stayed at. I think the location to the university allows them to charge more and offer average conditions.

Improvement ideas
The full size beds were too small, consider Queen like most other quality hotels.
Lack of onsite laundry facilities is unacceptable.

Overall a positive experience
The staff was friendly. The hotel and my room were clean. The complementary breakfast was brilliant! Would recommend requesting a room closer to the front of the building to allow for a little more distance from the adjacent railroad tracks.

The property was incredibly convenient to campus and amenities in the area. Some of the rooms were a little outdated but the staff was amazing. We didn't arrive until 2:20am due to a flight delay and the girl at the front desk was so helpful and friendly!

Staff was nice & hotel is in good location close to University & other things. However, the property is dated. I understand using the orange color due to it being Clemson…but update it! Use it with updated color scheme & decor such as the grey’s it would be fine. Even the rooms are dark and dingy, old furnishing’s, beige, brown & orange color scheme with dark wood. Another guest and us laughed that we felt like we’ve gone back to the 90’s. Definitely need biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and some bacon or better sausage at breakfast. The waffles were very good & several cereal & pastry options. It’s winter time so the pool is understandably shut down, but it’s kind of dangerous with it full of water and leaves just sitting there no cover on it, etc. and just yuck. The parking lot needs more space’s & definitely needs more lighting. I saw a few poles, but bulbs were out. Guest said we’re out sone time ago, too, when they were previously there. I would stay here again depending on price and available options. Hopefully, they’ll do an update & remodel & fix the lighting in the parking lot.

This property needs some upgrades to the common areas outside the rooms and to the AC system. The AC didn't work well in the hallways outside the rooms or in the elevator so it was hot and stuffy in those areas. The lobby area was upgraded and very nice - much nicer than the rest of the common areas in the hotel. The rooms were OK. AC was functional but not the best.

Some good, some not so good...
It was overall fine - not excellent - with some room for improvement. I've noticed Hampton Inn can be one of the less consistent brands w/in the Hilton umbrella. This was one. The positives: friendly staff, prompt checkin, immediate correction of a room snafu, clean overall in the room and common areas. Bed was comfortable and linens very clean. The negatives (and I was not looking for mistakes...but they caught my attention because there were several: the property rooms are showing their age. Somethings have been updated...carpets, some furniture. But elsewhere the walls need touchups, the wallpaper in the bathroom is slitely peeling, some of the furniture in my room showed dings and scratches and other wear and tear. And no matter how cool i set the a/c unit, it just felt humid in my room. There was no clock or alarm clock at all in my room -- odd. Overall I didn't dislike my stay but would choose another hotel in the area if it was in the same price range.

Nice place.
Older hotel but very clean, comfortable and inviting. Front desk staff was personable and helpful. Staff handling the breakfast was conscientious and worked hard to ensure all was in order and available. Good location.

Horrible. Got there and was told that they couldn’t accommodate our party of 6. Or at all. They had no rooms together, apart, adjoining or suites that could fit us available. I Booked a room that supposedly could handle our group. This led to driving to another hotel that SUPPOSEDLY could accommodate us per the Hampton Inn manager who spoke with hotels.com. Arrived there at Holiday Inn and Suites. Nope. No rooms for that size party. No adjoining rooms. FINALLY got two rooms side by side after 30 minutes of looking through computer. Indoor pool was out of order. Rooms weren’t great. Bath tub didn’t drain. And continental breakfast was literally horrible. And I can eat anything and don’t complain. I only wish hotels.com wouldn’t told me at the time I was trying to book that it wouldn’t fit us. Spent a long time getting this straight all while wore out from chemo, supposed to meet my daughter for supper, and supposed to be getting ready for a ring ceremony!! AND four impatient kids. Just seems like some kind of reimbursement should’ve been given for the headache and inconvenience that was the fault of the hotels.com and the actual hotels. Was the worst booking yet.

Super convenient location to Clemson. Easy check in from friendly staff. The breakfast area and lobby were clean and comfortable as well as the room. Only negative is the rooms are pretty dark with wood paneling on the walls and no over head lighting so even in the day time the room felt pretty dark. Have stayed before and will stay again.

Stink bugs in room on the wall and on my comforter when I woke up. Overall very mediocre and barely 2 stars. Charged literally the rate of a 4 or 5 star resort just because of a Clemson football game.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Expedia had printed our name incorrectly so check in was difficult. Our room was clean but very basic. The thermostat limited us to 66 degrees in the room but it wasn’t even close to 66 degrees. More like 76 degrees! No wow factor at all. Breakfast was lacking. The breakfast items were being depleted several times a seating. More waiting than eating.
The Hampton Inn at Clemson was clean and the people friendly but I doubt that we will stay there again.

Overall a nice stay however there was a problem with the air conditioning in the elevators and common spaces. Not their fault and it was being worked on. Our bathroom door had some chipped paint and the tub drain plug was broken and sitting next to the tub. The employees were very nice and helpful.

The toilet was wobbly, the shower had no pressure and water was warm, at best. The air conditioner sounded like a train was passing by, so we had to shut it off. The staff was nice, understanding, but unapologetic.

So disappointed in this location. We walked in and no employees are wearing masks. I watched the front desk employee sneeze on the key cards and hand them to the guest in front of me! Housekeeping not wearing masks either! No hot coffee in the morning at 8am. Leaf bowers and mowers started at 7am. Overall not a comfortable stay.

The staff are wonderful. There was a problem with the room via Expedia...booked a double room with king bed and there is no such thing. The staff changed us to a regular room with a king bed (the other had a small double or full bed) with no problem whatsoever. The only problem with the hotel itself is that it's right next to the railroad tracks--so if you're a sensitive sleeper, ask to be on the other side. Otherwise, lovely hotel!

Accommodations were excellent. I requested the handicap room with the roll in shower and it was just what I needed. The breakfast was quite adequate even though there were no hot choices due to Covid. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

disappointed for such a short stay
Arrived to a sticker on my door that said the room was cleaned to a higher standard. There was dust and grime caked onto the vents of the heat/AC unit in the room. There were also spider webs on the lamps in the room. I felt uneasy about the room after that but was too tired to move after a late check in. There are train tracks near the hotel and I heard the train several times that night. The breakfast was cold items only which does not make sense to me because the same people that handle cold food could handle hot food with the same risk of Covid. Overall I was not impressed.

This is the perfect location being so close to Clemson’s campus and across from Lake Hartwell. COVID precautions limit its ability to serve hot breakfasts and allow guests too congregate but, other than these small accommodations, it’s great.

Clean and comfortable. Regular breakfast bar not open due to COVID; they had “grab and go” where you could choose individually sealed/packaged Otis Spunkmeyer muffins, Quaker instant oatmeal, as well as coffee and juice. Also had Jimmie Dean muffins (egg and bacon).
In general, they took precautions with COVID but I felt like there were some “excuses.” The microwave in our room was not connected and the plug in the rear of the cabinet could not reach any outlet in the room. (Re-arranging furniture or “microwave closed for COVID?”

Very nice stay.
We were very pleased. Room was comfortable and clean. VEry happy with the wonderful plump comfy pillows, very nice duvet.. to the usual nasty ones like a lot of lower priced hotels, towels were good size and thickness and enough of them for the two of us. The bathroom was layer out nicely as well. The beds were very comfortable. Overall, our stay was superior the price we paid. We look forward to staying with you again in our travels.

Pool and spa disappointment
Indoor pool was under construction and was not noted. Found out on the way to the pool. Front desk said manager failed to post that fact about the pool and construction has taken longer than expected. The pool and spa was the whole reason to stay there.

Bed wasn't great...
Bed wasn't the usual "Hampton Inn" bed, but great stay overall. I had requested a king bed and didn't know until I got into the room that it was a handicap accessible room, which I didn't mind, except I wonder if it had anything to do with the bed needing to be a lower height and not being as comfortable as the "normal" "Hampton Inn" bed that I was expecting. otherwise a great place to stay as are every Hampton Inn I've ever been to.

This property needs a facelift. During football season prices go up a lot but this property is not worth $529 a night. The parking lot was not big enough to hold all the guests. And the cleaning staff for the room did not notice that more tissues and toilet paper were needed.

Great stay for a Clemson game. Staff was very friendly and helped us get checked in right away. It's almost 2 miles to the stadium but it's about as close as you will find for the price point. Would definitely stay here again.

Small windows + dark room furniture, especially against exterior wall = not a good choice if you like lots of light. Otherwise, room furnishings were good and bathroom was bigger than expected.
