We enjoyed the convenience of the hotel as the perfect home base for a night away. We enjoyed dinner at Zynodoa, a show at the Shakespeare Center, and shopping the next morning. Everything is walkable and food options abound.

Great location, friendly staff. Would have rated higher if not for the extremely loud music/bass thumping from 9pm-midnight. I called down to the front desk at 10pm to inquire about why it was so loud and was told there was a party in one of the ballrooms and that quiet hours would start at 11pm. We still heard the bass well past 11 despite having our sound machine turned up as high as it goes. We understand and expect “normal” hotel sounds like the comings and goings of others, but the sound of a party from our room on the 3rd floor, especially when traveling with small children, was really disappointing and exhausting.

Although we spent a quick overnight and did not have time to explore the charming downtown of Staunton, staying at Hotel 24 South made me want to come back and explore next time we are in the area. The staff was excellent and friendly!

No complimentary breakfast.
We found the room to be quite warm and could not open any windows. So we just turned off the heat.
Also the view from the window was a wall.
Which was OK for our purpose. Plus it kept the room from any street noise.
When we stayed last year, there was a complimentary breakfast. That was not an option this trip.

Nice downtown property-- I've stayed before. Bar and restaurant closed except for Thursday thru Sunday doesn't make sense-- at least keep the bar/lounge open with some snacks available. I may choose to stay elsewhere next time because of this. Sad, because I like a classic downtown hotel.

Great hotel
Really pleasant atmosphere. Nice and quiet. Amazing location. Loved the historic vibe. Not fancy but clean, comfortable and well appointed. Would definitely stay again. Only bummer was the indoor pool was quite cold and the hot tub was closed.

Beautiful Hotel in a Prime Location
When in Staunton, VA, we will always stay at 24 South! The location, service, cleanliness are all reasons to stay at this beautiful hotel! Right next door to Black Friars Theatre and within walking distance to town is such a plus!

What a beautiful hotel! It’s right next to the Black Friar Shakespeare Theater. Our dog friendly room was large and lovely with hardwood floors. Staff was friendly and helpful. Brunch was delicious. Staunton is a cool town.

The hotel was very quaint, and the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. I loved the history and looking at the artifacts in the lobby. There were severe plumbing issues in # 211 with the toilet. I had to get dressed in the middle of the night got go to lobby restroom! Somebody HAD to know this was an issue and it needed to be fixed prior to selling the room!
I was disappointed that the garage was not monitored. I found it unsettling.

Would absolutely stay here again! Nicely renovated hotel with a vintage vibe in a great downtown location. Rooms were clean and cozy and had good space for luggage, etc. Staff was super friendly. The only suggestion I have is to upgrade the TVs.

They do not clean your room or make the bed on a daily basis. Full garbage cans have to be placed in hallway in order to be emptied. Stayed in this hotel years ago when it was under a different name. Disappointed this time.

Overall a very very nice hotel. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The hotel is very clean and very warm and inviting. This hotel is very luxurious, not your typical hotel you see nowadays. Location is within walking distance to many restaurants and stores. Our only issue we experienced was the parking was a bit difficult since were were traveling with a truck towing a trailer so the parking garage was a no go, overflow parking down the hill was packed with other vehicles parked there for some of the surrounding restaurants so we couldn't park until after 10p when the restaurants had closed (which was my fault in not contacting the hotel originally to insure they had proper parking for our needs). But other than that an absolutely amazing hotel and I would gladly stay again!

I expected a nice stay considering the price of this hotel, but without a doubt, would have been better off elsewhere. No breakfast included, limited/poor toiletries, hair in the shower, no house keeping, and lots of noise. The only redeeming factor was the location, however, safe yourself the expense, it's not worth the price tag.

Wonderful hotel with plenty of amenities in downtown Staunton. Easily walkable to the train station, Mill Street Grill and most other old town attractions. Delightfully helpful staff and for a 100yr old hotel, the place looks brand new. Very well maintained.

Bed was too high to get into comfortably, sheets were too small and bunched up while tryingto sleep.
During the night there was an emergency message brodcast with no instructions as to what to do. Took a phone call to determine we were supposed to leave the room and meet in the lobby until the fire dept cleared the site.

Walkable location to historic downtown is the only good thing I have to say about this hotel. Everything is extra; they don't even provide bottled water. My key card didn't work, and reception offered nilch - a breakfast voucher would have been nice. I can hear people in the room next door. Just really surprised, as I thought this was somewhat of a luxury property.

One of Virginia’s Lovely Towns
We have enjoyed our stay here because of the beautiful accommodations, very friendly and helpful service and great location! We are within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and right next door to the Shakespeare Theater. We are coming back next month to explore more of this wonderful town in Virginia.

Beautiful lobby, pleasant, comfortable room. Continental breakfast no better than free ones offered by typical roadside motels. This hotel used to serve an unbelievably good french toast. Service was excellent except that I asked for a room away from the elevators and ice machine and got the exact opposite. The predictable result was a very noisy Saturday night. Very convenient location. Free parking.

We choose to stay here everytime we visit Staunton because of its proximity to everything exciting going on downtown. It is easy to walk to, has gorgeous architecture, and has the warm hospitality of an intimate hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Parking is practically effortless. We look forward to coming again next time!

Great room in a very nice hotel. Breakfast was not included but we had it anyway. It was quite good. There is attached underground parking with elevator to the lobby, then change elevator to access rooms. Liked that feature. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable, we slept well.

Nice older hotel from a bygone time, Beautiful lobby and dining room. My room was comfortable and well laid out. Breakfast was very bountiful, it would be nice to have a continental breakfast option. Location can't be beat, right downtown.

Location, location, location. The hotel is in close walking distance to everything we like to do. Great cafes, bistros, restaurants, wine bars, arts, blown glass studio, architecture, etc. The hotel is great shape, clean, friendly helpful staff, and adequate amenities. Bar and restaurant not open very often, but who cares, there're great options within two blocks. Two days was not enough time.

Didn't like the small toilet--seemed like a 3/4 size--had to REALLY squat down!
The TV was the smallest I've seen in a hotel for a long time.

Lovely older hotels. The room was very small and the bed was very comfortable. The only problem is the ac vent blows right on the bed making it difficult to sleep, since it could not be vented to another direction. If I stayed here again I would check the room first.

Location, location, location! Right next to Blackfriars Playhouse (home of the American Shakespeare Co) and a block from the Beverly Street with its many restaurants and shops. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we have stayed here several times and will again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel 24. It’s an attractive property and the room was very comfortable. The service was friendly, and you can’t beat the location - right downtown near lots of nice shops and restaurants and historic shops. I would definitely stay there again.

Quick trip with wife. Staunton is a great town with lots of great shops and restaurants.
Hotel 24 is in a great location. The staff was friendly, building was clean and charming and the price is very reasonable for the hotel.
Will definitely stay again.
