Cheap price - decent stay
Cheap is as cheap does. It's right downtown in a good location and doesn't break the bank. You get a bed, sink, tv, and a closet. Bathrooms are shared, but are clean. If you're just looking for a cheap place to sleep within a 5-10 minute walk of Times Square, this might be for you.

Rooms do not have en-suite showers, bed was really bad, and windows didn't keep out any sound. Needed earplugs to sleep.
The staff, however, were very helpful and available 24 hours.

The overall noise on the floor I stayed on. The room was too small. Felt like a jail cell and had to share bathrooms which I wasn't aware of until I got there. Location is great.

The room was very small but clean. The bathroom was public and down the hall where you had to shower, go, and brush your teeth; however the door could not be secured.
I paid for 2 nights but stayed only one.
I accepted the loss. For the nearly $400 it was not worth it.

Some if the staff is nice, the bathrooms are communal and not the cleanest. The elevators are slow and terrible. The area is also not safe after dark for women. Very dark and creepy. The rooms are small and mine was not properly cleaned. Expedia didn’t mention a $125 deposit fee only resort, so don’t allow them to charge your card for $125!!

the room was incredibly uncomfortable to be in for long periods of time, definitely wouldn’t recommend it for more than one person no matter what they say the capacity is. the window is super thin so you can hear everything outside, as well as the walls being so think you can hear every door slam every second. the shared bathroom situation was a nightmare, and i’m pretty sure some random person decided to just sleep in there overnight so i couldn’t use it. i was too disgusted to do anything but pee and run out as fast as i could, there was also no soap in the bathroom and it was never cleaned ever. the elevator was tiny and very scary, thought it would break at any moment. definitely got tricked by the nice lobby into believing it was a nice establishment and then quickly realized it was a nightmare. make this your last resort for staying in the city.

Lots of misleading Advertising for this "Hotel" It should be listed as a hostel. Not all the rooms have their own bathroom, and this is not mentioned on the site. They also don't mention that there is an additional 15$/day service fee that is charged upon arrival. They also advertise that they have a Kitchen but its legitimately a closet with a mini fridge and microwave, they have hot plates but no pans or utensils for use, there for there is no kitchen, the beds are very uncomfortable and need new framing, room was quite small with a sink this should not be advertised as a hotel but better yet a hostel with minimal amenities.

Great location/service for a touristy nyc stay
I was pleasantly surprised by this place! We went to NYC for 5 nights and booked two rooms here because of the location and good price. I didn’t know the bathrooms were shared until we got there but it actually wasn’t an issue for us. The bathrooms are still individual whole bathrooms which is way better than stall like showers or bathroom stalls like in hostels. The rooms were fine. The location was perfect! We saw two broadway plays and went to a comedy show at the palladium and could easily walk to all of this and the great restaurants near by. All of the staff were very nice and they even held our bags at the end of the stay since we had a few hours after check out before we needed to board trains. It was very loud on the street but you can expect that from NYC so we all got ear plugs and they worked like a charm. Great place for a quick no frills touristy stay in nyc.

Shared bathroom & TINY room
I don’t know how I missed it, but I didn’t realize I’d have to share a bathroom with other people and he room was so tiny. I stayed there long enough to find another hotel and walk out. Unfortunately, I had already paid through Hotels.com so I couldn’t get any money back.

A couple of the door locks and windows had issues, but Yanni (I hope I’m spelling his name right) was working nights at the front desk and was incredibly helpful!
Terrific location. It’s something between a hostel and a full hotel and if you understand the experience you’re in for, it’s the best deal you can get to stay in such a prime location.

Best Deal for the Price
Searched diligently online for 6 weeks. Best deal for the price. Minutes walk from Times Square. Small room good enough for a single. Multiple shared baths per floor, so no waiting. Everything clean and in order. Free coffee, tea, bagels/mini muffins each morning.

We missed that it was a shared bath, but it was only with 2 other rooms (like a college dorm with a sink in our room, and a full bath at the end of the hall). It was little noisy with the busy street so close by, but we had brought ear plugs and that muffled the noise enough to get a good nights sleep. It is convenient to walk to the bus stops, train stops, Times Square, Bryant Park, and Empire State Building. So location for us was the most important to be in mid-town.

A good budget option
This was great as a cheap and basic option for a trip. The room was clean, and there is a sink in the room for washing. No ensuite so you have to use the shared bathrooms for the toilet or shower, but they are clean and there are plenty of them. It's just a bit of an inconvenience having to make sure you have your room key with you. The TV had a good choice of channels to watch. The blanket was a little thin, I would have preferred a duvet, or at least an additional blanket. Noise both from outside and from people in the next room made it difficult to sleep, so I'd recommend ear plugs. The staff were friendly and there was always someone at the front desk. There was a nice self-service breakfast as well, bagels, cookies, cupcakes and coffee/tea/hot chocolate between 8:00 and 10:00. Apart from that there wasn't any food or drink available but there are so many places to get food within a few minutes walk. There's also a kitchen with a microwave. It's a convenient location for exploring Times Square and the surrounding streets, and only about 10-15 minutes walk from central park. In general as long as you're not looking for luxury I'd say this is a perfectly decent place to stay.

Cold bagels and mini cupcakes for breakfast could be improved upon.
Having a toaster and a microwave would have been awesome. Rooms are small, but clean. Flooring could be deep cleaned or changed. It has seen way better days.
And a small bistro table and chairs to eat at or use to write or use laptop should be added as there is room.
But, it's SUPER close to everything. And it's not expensive. Even with my knitpicking I will stay there again next time I go. The things I mentioned are not deal breakers.

It was the best location. Steph was extremely friendly. It was clean. Though you do not have your own bathroom, for us that was not an issue because we never spend a lot of time in our room. We are always out and about. And the price was perfect for us.

Great overnight stay!
Great place to stay for an overnight in the city. Check in was easy and friendly! I found everyone very helpful with whatever was needed. Convenient location to Times Square, Broadway and Rockefeller Center.

The expression “you get what you pay for” comes to mind at the Americana. First, the staff was wonderful. The hotel - not so much. Hair on the pillowcase. a concave, worn-out bed. Dilapidated towels. No wash cloth. No bathmat in the bathroom. No anti-slip prevention in the bathtub/shower combo. No amenities in the room or the bathroom or hotel despite a "resort fee $14).. Incredibly noisy as you can hear everything going on at the street below. Continental breakfast consisted of room-temperature bagels, muffins, and powdered coffee. If you can afford better, do it.

The room worked out fine. My biggest complaint was the mattress. We really weren’t comfortable as it bowed in the middle and had no support. One of the 3 days, our room wasn’t cleaned.

Please be aware that this property is a hostel with shared bathroom. They are tricking people by marketing it as a hotel and they also have audacity to charge resort fees. The rooms are small and missing basic necessities like iron and iron board. I had reservations for two rooms and both room smelt like old sweat shops. Beds were literally 4" twin size spring mattress with cheapest quality.
I wonder how they can charge over $200 for a night when you can cleaner, modern room with all facilities.

I would of liked to have been told that having a private room ,doesn’t mean you will have a private bathroom, for the price I paid I feel like I should of had a bathroom in my room,I feel like it was very misleading. The common bathroom was pretty dirty,trash can full, hair and water everywhere. No soap in the bathroom to wash your hands. The blanket on the bed was very worn.I feel like for the price I paid the quality should have been better.

This was the worst experience. During my stay the air condition was not working and the bed had bugs, after several complaints no action was taken and it was sleepless night for me. They did not not find me alternative room. Provided a return complaint and no one called me until now. The big surprise was it was shared bathroom which was pathetically maintained. Even I called up Expedia to help me out for an alternative but they heard me out but was helpless. I highly recommend not to choose this hotel. On top of it they charged me $15 dollars for reservation which was not part of the original agreement

The front desk staff was kind and considerate. They allowed me to check in early because we arrived early and have a big suitcase. They are are also well dressed wearing formal suit. The cleaning staff are always present to clean the shared bathroom.
We keep on waking up staying on the second floor due to the noise outside the street from vehicles, ambulance and people due to heavy foot traffic.

Some employees weren't as informative and nice. On their website it states they have parking but they don't. Their is a parking garage across the street from the hotel where you can park and get a slight discount. I wasn't told that the hotel has to stamp your ticket in order for you to get that discount

First thing first they ask you for a reservation fee of 15$ per night that doesn't say nothing when i reserved and paid with one month before. The windows are very bad, you can hear absolutely everything. The mattress was the worst i slept on was very,very bad, unconfortable. You don't have a wardrobe with shelves to put your clothes.

They have a luggages room where you can drop your things.

Noisy and dirty
When you stay somewhere that is pretty cheap you’re not expecting anything special, but this place was no better than a hostel. The shared bathrooms were dirty and every room is a shared bathroom.
The noise was terrible. It was no quieter than being outside on the street, and in a 24 hour city like New York that means it’s extremely noisy. The worst sound insulation I’ve ever experienced.

Very clean and convenient place.
I was worried about shared bathrooms but it was excellent. Very clean and there are a lot of restrooms that is like having your own. If you travel on a budget, this is a go to place. I highly recommend it.
Staff is super friendly and you have everything you need.
The location is great!
From now on, this is my go to place when I’m in Manhattan.

This is my go to spot when I travel alone to New York City. It is convenient to a handful of NYC destinations and the subways that are near by can take you to anywhere you want to go. Dan and the rest of the hotel staff are friendly. I will continue to book here when I travel to NYC. Yes some rooms are louder than others and you have to share bathrooms at times, but staff does a good job of keeping it clean.

Room was very loud. Could hear cars going by, honking, people yelling, even at night, and even though I had ear plugs in. Room was small. TV was very small. Good location for visiting tourist attractions. Breakfast was minimal, I went down a few times, and there was never any coffee. Staff was friendly.

This was the worst hotel room Ive ever seen. I was genuinely shocked when i opened the door. Due to drains in the floor and size i assume the room used to be a utility closet. None of the rooms have a bathroom or shower or anything. The "wifi" connects but wont allow any data through (literally not even telegram chats) the only positive was that it was inspiration not to stay in my room and made me spend all of my time out in the city.

Great location- pricing- great for a one or two night stay- super clean- we were in the city just one night prior to jumping on our cruise- all we needed was a place near time square - good food - a place to start out our Vaca! If you are looking for a reasonably priced clean place- no frills- friendly staff - this is the place! Now warning!!! Do your research! You share a super clean bathroom BUT each room has their own sink- bathrooms have showers - hairdryers- shampoo- conditioner- body wash- our bathroom was right across the hall- we are in our 60’s/70’s this did not deter us! The price is point on !!!

The room was cold, a window was left opened I guess by a previous guest. Maintenance man had to come & turn on the heat with a screw driver. No hair dryer in the room, was able to get one from the maintenance guy. The front desk person was rude when we said we were running 30 minutes late for check out because we couldn’t shower in a cold room, he told my daughter “you should’ve been out!” & hung up the phone. Other than that, place was convenient & not too bad. Clean & bathroom was spacious. Would consider giving it another chance.

It was ok, good location and in a safe area. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were handy and staff were nice. It was clean, tv had Netflix but no cable channels. The noise was very loud from the street, the windows were poor quality, no tea or coffee facilities in the room and we had no phone to call reception when needed. Basic hotel but worth the money as the location is very good. I’ve stayed here before and will do so again as it’s very affordable. 2 stars

Given the price and the "shared bathroom" I had relatively low expectations for the Americana Inn. Those expectations were exceeded across the board. The bathrooms were spotless each and every day and all day. The proximity to Times Square, MSG and the subway was fantastic. Even the breakfast saved us some money and allowed us to get the most out of every day.

Overall, my experience was fairly poor.
The lift was broken so much of the time of my stay. The staff asked me to find my own bag after checking it with them. Shearing, bathroom and shower facilities may be a problem for some. The rooms are tiny and they’re exposed pipes. The linen is fairly clean, but the rest of the place looks a little grotty. My advice would be to find somewhere else at the rates, americana inn is charging.

From a price point perspective within walking distance to Times Square and MSG (bus and Penn Station) this place is a deal, but only if you are ok with hostel type accommodations. Rooms are small with a sink, and groups of 3 rooms have a shared bathroom. Being basically on 6th Ave means plenty of "have a nice day" car horns going early and late into the evening. On the first night I noticed, but then got used to it. It wasn't quiet here to say the least. If you can deal with the above and are looking to spend your money on NYC instead of your room, I'd consider this place. I'm on the fence about whether I would stay here again, but in a pinch I probably would.

The Inn is very well located and clean, the staff are nice and friendly. Breakfast is very limited, rooms are small and I didn't notice when booking that the room didn't have its own bathroom. My only real complaint was that there is a lot of street noise 24 hours a day, it's an old building without double glazing. But you get what you pay for and its very reasonably prices for Mid Town Manhattan. Great Location.

Such a great value! We loved staying at Americana. It was walking distance to the Empire State Building, library, Grand Central, and multiple metro stops. The place was clean. Expect normal city noise and that of people coming and going and basic level amenities. Would be happy to stay again!
