Amazing Location, half a block from the beach.
The hotel could not be in a better location. Half block from the beach, near everything restaurants, mall, bars, downtown. The price we got is unbeatable for the location.
The property itself is a little outdated, could use some improvements but overall is great for sleeping as we stay out all day.
My room had a full kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge and full kitchenware.
Depending on how you book you could book with Waikiki Grand Hotel (building name) or could be with Castle Resorts (like a management co.) So from what i understood if you book with Castle Resorts (my case) most units a privately-owned and each individual owner does what they want as far as updates in the unit my unit wasnt too bad the only complaint was the mattress too old and hard on your back but after the first night you get used to it.
It is a little weird how they operate so dont judge the book before you "read".
So you register at the front desk as you normally would but if you booked with Castle Resort you have to go to a room in the 5th floor felt a little sketchy and do a real check in there, room is jam packed with hotels supplies, almost like a hoarder, but once you past that you will be ok.
Other thing there is no room service and if you need supplies you have to go to the 5th floor room yourself to get it. And the cleaning fee you pay at check in is only for the checkout cleaning, does not include room service.

Location is great. But don’t expect much else.
The hotel room felt like it was someone’s old room. The sheets you sleep in feel like someone’s old sheets. The blanket was gross looking. The room itself was cool. There is no way to turn off the TV. The power button doesn’t do what you think it’s supposed to do. There is no cleaning service while you are there. I was there over a week and the room did not get cleaned once. I could tell by the build up of sand you end up with in your room. I tried to keep it maintained but you’re at the beach all the time it’s impossible. But you will be charged a cleaning fee, although the cleaning is clearly not to make your stay more comfortable. Oh and I hope you don’t like sleep. Because although this is of no fault of the hotel, it is what it is. There are a few roosters that hang out at the park across the street. They crow when it’s dark basically. Not at sun rise. They crow all the time. The doors can muffle the sound slightly, but you will be hearing them.

I’ve been to Honolulu many times. This was my first stay at this hotel. It’s suitable as a place to sleep and shower. The location, in my opinion, is great. I did feel duped by the “cleaning fee”. I would not stay here a second time, but it served its purpose for my trip to Honolulu. The staff was friendly also.

Great location. Room needed carpet cleaned or replaced. Mattress on bed was very soft and uncomfortable, needs replaced. Wood molding trim inside the bathroom door damaged, needing replaced or repaired. For the price point and location of the condo the room was actually great, just in need of maintenance.

Choose Somewhere Else
The room was dirty, yet they charge me $50 to clean. Stains on the wall, baseboards are dirty, bed headboard loose and bangs the wall, toilet loose from the floor, "cleaning lady" parked in my spot that I was paying for, keypad door locked me out twice. Furniture is old and stained. Only allowed to switch towels every other day. Dark hallways. I stayed one night and was charged $300; I could have stayed at a much nicer place for that price. I was scheduled to stay there one week; I checked out and moved to a much nicer place for less money: The manager never returned my call to discuss the $50 cleaning charge. Hotel LaCroix. Not worth the price at all. Stay elsewhere. Buyer beware. This was room 904.

The World now
Well I'm late doing this but hear goes on our first day we had a bomb threat,16 police vehicals, vest's, door buster, and AR type rifles. That six cops showed up for a screaming lady and her boy friend. There's also a group of young people riding up and down the st. usually after 9:00pm electric bike, croch rockets and mopeds doing willies fasing up and down. But it's a beautiful area thats being taken. Also lots of homless and fighting in the park cops for a third time.

The room could be best described as a hole. The box spring and mattress was on the floor and had no bed frame. The room had a 2 and 1/2 foot pillar in the middle of the room. The table, an old weathered outside table and two Miss matched chairs looked like rodents had lived in them. It was so bad I couldn’t stay one night there. Thanks to Expedia they moved me. I wouldn’t recommend the place to my worst enemy

So from the rating, I don’t want you to get the impression that I didn’t enjoy my stay, as I actually did. There was a faulty plug in the room, along with insects and other unpleasantries that I don’t need to get into. I will say that whomever does hiring for your organization is top drawer and you have amazing staff who are quite friendly and accommodating. I realize the hotel is in a transitional period right now, so please don’t take this personally, I just felt that I should be forthright in my opinion.

They require you to remove your own trash while charging a 'cleaning' fee, yet my unit did not recieve any sort of housekeeping over the course of 5days. Not even clean towels. A roach was seen scurrying across the floor as well I left my luggage outside upon returning home to prevent unwanted guest.

Before you read this review understand it is written from a perspective of my personal needs and quirks and despite all the negatives I would stay here again. It is hard to get peace and quiet in Waikiki but the Waikiki Grand which overlooks Kapiolani Park and has unparalled views of Diamond Head offers that. It is out of the way of the bustle of Waikiki and the Cathedral of shopping, Kalakaua Avenue. Do not expect opulence or luxury. The rooms as are offered by Castle are utilitarian and spartan, bring your own power bar and extension cord as the outlets are inconveniently. The pictures of the "kitchenette" are downright misleading and decietful. But yet understanding all this i would stay there again.

Stayed here for a few nights for a birthday getaway. Rooms are quiet and comfortable but could use updating like others mention. View is beautiful. Staff is amazing. Perfect location to the beach or to walk around or bar hop. Will book again!

I loved the location of the property. It was in great walking distance to everything we wanted to do. The hotel room itself sucked they never cleaned. We had two rooms and had to pay close to 400 dollars for a cleaning fee and no one ever cleaned we had to get new towels the whole time. We were allowed 1 towel for 2 days and that was not enough for 2 people especially for tourists going to the beach everyday. I loved the burger place that was in the hotel it was affordable compared to everything else that was around.

Wonderful people and the best view on the island, of that I am sure. There is no daily or weekly cleaning service--so we had the same sheets and towels all week long which was different than I'm used to when staying at a hotel, and you have to dump your own garbage which wasn't a huge deal, but just a little surprise. The manager was wonderful, and the front desk staff amazing when I had a driver that started sending me gross body pics unsolicited. Gross. They made sure he wouldn't have access to my room which was a relief. So gross. Rent a car. Don't use the drivers. Don't give anyone your private number to pick you up to go anywhere. seriously. gross. the hotel was wonderful though really great!

Overall a great and easy stay. Property manager was great and friendly and gave us a discount. Lots of food close by and ABC stores are everywhere. The walk to the beach takes very little time. Only complaint is the hotel needs black out curtains. It’s like the middle of the day in the middle of the night.

We loved our stay. The property was great and was so convenient to everything else in Waikiki. Only issue was the noise at night coming from the street, but not much of a hassle. Room was nice with lots of amenities and service was good.

My room was small. The restroom was right next door to the kitchen and had a doggy door type vent so if i used the restroom, the smell would be in the kitchen. We didnt have an iron, so we had to borrower one from another room. The sheets had marker stains. The hotel is outdated. The pool was under construction.

First, I booked my hotel via expedia but in actuality it was with a horrible 2rd party management company who along with residents and the hotel own property in that building. BUYERS BEWARE!!! The pictures on the expedia website are not from where i stayed!!! This is no Castle is a dump!! its old , unclean and the management company's own offices in room 512 is a hoarders paradise. Im warning you here. The area is convenient to the beach but there is a lot of homless people around. The Hotel windows are not sound proff so you hear everything thats going on in the ally. The first night there was this truck delivering something it literally backe up for 10 min with a bipping back nose at 4:30am .
The second night there was a guy really mad at a girl and he was swearing up a storm and speed up in his car all down the ally at 5am. Third night , im not sure who was doing construction at 530am. The last night the trash truck came by at 530am and woke us up. Im happy we only used the room to sleep in and we where out all day until 10pm. Also, i paid for the parking for 4 night like $125.65 the parking in the basement is small and crammed my car was a chevy spark and i was tired of going in an out. Also, i was asked to please take out the trash when i checked out..lol but i paid a resort fee and taxes of
$246.54 which was not worth it !!! Soooo very disappointed!!!! My daughter wanted to sleep in the car 😪

The location is fabulous, but the apartment needs an upgrade. The electrical outlets were inadequate in number & quality for modern needs. There was no desk. The coffee machine was broken. Also, the "cleaning fee" was outrageous - $171.

Location is the best thing about this hotel
Front desk is not connected to running your room. Weird set up, every room is seperatly owned so its like a box of mystery. No service during your stay and you put out your own trash. The owners should tip the room cleaners. We have paid unexpected extra for that already. This odd experience left me wondering why USA for a holiday, when everything costs so much more than the original ticket price and nobody helps you unless you tip them, doesnt anyone get paid by their employer? Oh boy, and then there is extra tax on top of the loaded bill that isnt included in the original price. The rooftop has amazing views. Hulas, on 2nd floor is a great bar that should consider entertainment constantly, not just weekends. There is a burger place on the ground floor but I couldnt read their menu so didnt buy anything.

I loved it. We went on spring break so it was pretty busy and even with that it was still a wonderful experience. The parking is tight like everywhere in wakiki but they offer a secure parking garage for small and midsize vehicle's which is wonderful. Spaces are limited so be sure and reserve a spot ahead of time. Again thats normal in wakiki. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience

Room is very much smaller than advertised, this is very deceitful. The room had roaches and I told the front desk and showed pictures of roaches. I was told there was nothing to be done about it except room got sprayed once a month, I went elsewhere.

Very disappointed in this property. There was no room service even though they charged us extra for it. Was told it was for cleaning the room after we checked out. Couldn't even get clean towels until the third day of our stay. The pool was filthy. Mold everywhere you looked. Had to pay $26 a day for parking. If you stay here plan on paying a extra $500 that's not included when you book through expedia.

The view was pretty, room was roomy clean , had 2 restaurants in the hotel . Easy access to the beach . Only complaints was parking they said in ad before booking that they have a parking garage we could park in but when we went they said it was all booked we asked eveeyday and everyday we were booked. Everyone was pretty friendly only complaint i had was one guy at front desk where we aaked on 2 occasions for help and he blew us off. Which is enough for me not to come back. But other than that it was OK .

Great View along with Loud Noise!
Great location for us as we wanted to try out The Bus service to and from the airport ($3.00 per person each way). Roxy, at the lobby counter was very helpful and interesting and the other staff members were all very pleasant. Please note that there are no daily housekeeping services - which we were aware of.
As we were assigned a room on the 6th floor, facing The Zoo and Diamondhead, the view was amazing - but so is the noise from the street below...both from cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, Hula's (the bar on 2nd floor) and screaming people. Bring earplugs!

I always check the reviews, this hotel had good and bad, the explanation es that it has clean and very dirty rooms, I was in both, they don't change your towels daily even though they gave you stained ones, the worst hotel I've been.

The pictures they have posted are a lie. The picture you see with the view is only for the 10th floor deck. Lets start with the room I had reserved a king size bed, full kitchenet and ocean view. Well not only was it not a king size bed it was horrible to sleep on. We got a kitchenet to save money on food instead of eating out. Well there was a fridge and a microwave but the cooking area was a plug in hot plate in a drawer. And there was nothing to even cook it with. The ocean view was a set of bars and a sliding window that over looked the zoo not the ocean Every night there was a fight or yelling outside the window front midnight till 4 am. They had a tv with a roku that stopped working 4 days in. The ac in the room did not work right you would go from freezing to sweating during the night. I have pictures of what the actual room looks like and would love to share them. I thought maybe it was just me but another person checked in realized he was lied to flipped out and went some where else

I like the the hotel is conveniently located near the beach and stores/restaurants.
One of the rooms was in a condition such that, upon checkin, we had requested a room change. And the hotel was happy to provide a room change. I also found a rolled dollar bill in the couch in my room - draw your own conclusions.

The Waikiki Grand is old Hawaii feeling, open air lobby, nice koa wood seating and decor. The hotel is in a great location by the park and ocean, which is great. The rooms have been updated but with a few inconviences. No USB ports, air exhaust not working in the bathroom and no safedeposit box in the room. The staff at times were a bit off but helpful. The Grand is a no frill lodging, still a fair place to enjoy Oahu....MAHALO

Beautiful location. Dilapidated conditions.
I took my family on a trip to paradise to celebrate both a high school graduation and a birthday.
I chose a suite at the top floor for the space/accommodation and the views. Yet, the booking never mentioned that we would be staying in someone's personal space. Turns out suites and other rooms can be an independent property managed by the hotel. Which are not in the best condition for what they charge a night. Much less for the added $200 'cleaning ' fee on top of it all.
Kitchen utensils had food dried and stuck to them (forks and knives). Bath tub has rings and rust stains. Broken floor tiles. Broken lopsided bed. It felt like a hostel abroad not a hotel on the Waikiki strip.
Then add the random hotel alarm that woke us up at 240am. Or the group of "hotel members " partying til midnight with music and barking dogs on the shared patio just outside our door. I had to call and have them removed. Since patio curfew is 10pm.
Recommendation, stay somewhere else.

We had the time of our lives. Loirlynn at the front desk was our everything. So was personable and very friendly. Our room had the private Lani overlooking the Waikiki Pier and the Honolulu Zoo. We had a full kitchen and the walking distance to everything was excellent. I was celebrating my birthday and anniversary and we were treated wonderfully. We will come back and do plan on staying here again in that same room #1002. Thank you all. Our vacation was superb.

The hotel location is great but the facilities in each room differ room to room. Our room did have a microwave and coffee machine but no other kitchen items like a toaster hot plate or electric kettle.
We were charged a daily cleaning room fee but over the 8 days we were there no room cleaning was done.

Perfect location away from all the crowds, but in the heart of Waikiki. Beautiful views of the beach and Diamond Head! The rooftop viewing area made for perfect sunset views. My room had a perfect kitchenette - everything I needed and nothing more. The staff is lovely and accommodating. Would definitely recommend it to my friends!

Worst place I've ever stayed! Power went out two seperate days so I had to take cold showers for 2 days. On the last day they posted a note about shutting off the water between 9am and 2pm... basically meaning, i couldn't shower or use the toilet on my day of checkout. I had to walk over to the next hotel and ask for the bathroom key to use the bathroom. The hotel did not offer to reimburse anything for the inconvenience of no power, cold showers, or no water on the last day. In fact, they were kind of rude when i asked about any compensation. I mean, last I checked, i paid for use of the showers and toilet. I paid for electricity... if something were to happen, there should be compensation. Also, the room was much smaller than it looked in the pictures. And the bathroom "door" was only a window. No privacy to the other roommate. When you took a dump, everyone could see you on the toilet. And lastly, the thumbnail is a beautiful picture of Diamond Head.. giving me the impression that I'd have a balcony and view of Diamond Head... that was not the case. No balcony and the only thing you saw out the window was another building. I recommend removing this "hotel" from your website. No one should stay here. I will not ever again.

Our room was nothing like the pictures displayed for the location which was a bit disappointing but we didn’t go there to spend all of our time in the room. Staff is AMAZING! Their parking is worth getting as it’s horrible to find parking in this part of town. The view is amazing. Overall location was excellent. We plan on using this location for any future visits to the island.

It’s just not what was sold on Expedia. Not really a hotel as much as an apartment like an Airbnb without the coolness of the Airbnb. The front desk wasn’t friendly or helpful at all. Every thing was inconvenient at every turn. Just wasn’t expecting it, was expecting at least some maid service or when I gave towels to them back that I had to take downstairs for them to take it not just say go throw it over there. When I asked for more toilet paper it was like I was forcing a chore on the workers.

Photos lie. They show a nice room. We got a box!!! The room was so small. They say they have baby cribs they offered me an old pack n play! Which o don’t know where it would fit in the room because it’s so small. AC is a small wall box which they sucks! There’s no free TV they want you to log into your own streaming service. Parking sucks so we parked on the street and across the street. The bed was not a queen maybe a full and hard as a rock. The towel service is not daily and you need to go down and exchange them which is weird how they don’t do daily if your doing the work to go get them. You need to take out your own trash. The pool is small and looks dirty. WILL NECER STAY HERE I FEEL ROBBED BY THE WAY THRY TAKE PHOTOS AND PROMOTE THIS HOTEL. STAY NEXT DOOR AT QUEEN Q SO PRETTY COMPARED. THE HOTEL IS MORE LIKE STUDIOS

The location is perfect. The condition of the property is dismal. If unable to book one of the 6 ocean view balcony rooms, I would recommend any other hotel no matter the cost. Reservations are definitely needed for parking.

Bed was very comfortable. Easy access to everything. Beach walking distance. I was very upset at check in when they asked me to pay $180.00 for housekeeping. Room was so small

Amazing stay. Loved the room, the ocean view, convenient kitchenette, close proximity to shops and the beach - staff were all so lovely and helpful. Made us feel like home. We will be return (from Australia). Mahalo for an amazing time!

They gave me the wrong room. They guaranteed me a parking space and it wasn't in the available when I got there. They said I could have a late checkout with an additional fee and then forgot so called me asking me to return back to the hotel and check out before noon.

Roxy and Roy greeted us when we arrived they were awesome and attended to all of our needs. the room was quite spacious and clean and they answered any questions we had. It was awesome to get beach chairs and just walk a block to the beach swimming was awesome did some fishing at ala Moana we ate awesome sushi right around the corner. it was right in the middle of anything and everything Waikiki. It's a 3-star hotel don't expect them to clean your room every day you need to change your own towels with the desk you also need to get toilet paper from the front desk when you run out that I didn't like but that's the only thing. They kept carpets to rooms shampooed and had dry blowers to dry it up quickly it was pleasant to see that they kept it clean it smelled nice not too strong. I'd absolutely stay here again for sure.

Best value in Honolulu
My 3rd visit and always a hit with my guest: comfortable, great view, most convenient! The 10th floor rooftop is an extra that makes the Waikiki Grand the best value in Honolulu. Look forward to my return in the Fall- many thanks!
