It was a nice stay. Quiet most of the time. Until pipes bang on the walls. Sometimes I can hear other people. Beside that it was great. People where nice; specially cleaning crew.

This hotel is unsafe. The door to my room barely shut all the way and the deadbolt was broken. I had to shove the couch against the door to feel somewhat safe. Also, the front entrance gives an illusion of safety, however I saw many non-guests enter and just walk around. The towels in my room had blonde hairs all over it and I’m a brunette so.. I was so exhausted when I got there that I didn’t do more investigating or call for a room switch but it was very unsettling. All in all, if you are like me and you’re a young woman worried about being safe, this is not the hotel for you!!!

I liked the location in the heart of Lakeview. I religiously use CTA when I travel to Chicago. Landed at Midway airport, took the Orange Line to Roosevelt on the Red Line to Belmont. The hotel four doors down from the station. The hotel is definitely vintage but well maintained and clean. I found it a value and will use it again.

Great place to stay in Chicago
Great location. The front desk will let you drop off luggage and direct you where to park. So many places walkable and right at the train. Snacks, wine, and more available for purchase. Great night's sleep. Exceeded expectations.

The staff lacks hospitality. When I arrived at the front office at 2:55 pm, the gentleman assertively informed me that I couldn't access the room before 3:00 pm.
Moreover, they billed me an additional $5.5 without prior notice or explanation for the charge.

New Year Stay
Hotel room was good. Only issue was getting a parking pass. There was not enough when i got there at 4. The guy kinda was rude about it! Saud nothing he could come back tomorrow to get one.

I loved that there was so many things in walking distance to do. Everything from dining to shopping to maybe having a few cocktails. The neighborhood was very friendly and i felt very safe in this area. I will absolutely be back. The hotel was very authentic. I loved it ! . The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast has been eliminated since my last stay, which is good and makes the lobby much more pleasant at all hours. (What with Ann Sather's two or three doors down, who needs complementary breakfast?) The old diner across the street has closed, but the Indian or Pakistani boys in the deli there now are so sweet. Proximity to the elevated is a tremendous advantage. I love this hotel.

The location was good and the room was clean. Those were about it when it comes to the good.
When we checked in, I asked a question to the person checking us in and he just seemed annoyed that he had to respond. Once we got to the room, it smelled like someone threw an incense bomb in there. The floors were very creaky and loud. Worst part was when we turned the heat on, the metal furnace registers popped and banged as loud as can be. It did it the entire night, loudly popping about every 10-15 mins. Because of this, I got a very poor sleep despite being exhausted already. I wouldn't recommend staying here when the weather is cold.
Almost forgot to mention, there is no ventilation in the bathroom, so the moisture has no where to go. Sink was also cracked.
When we checked out, the guy at the desk this time was very nice and in a good mood

The location of the hotel is great. Near the Vic and Wrigley field. A lot of options for dining. Didn't take advantage, but also very close to transportation. Snacks and drinks in room were decently priced. Room seemed small and not a lot of options for plugging in chargers. Elevator is very small, but did work. Would stay at the hotel again.

I love the proximity to The Vic and The Vic parking garage as well as so many places to eat and do stuff. Sadly I didn't that much time in Chicago. The room could have been a bit cleaner. The walls need a good cleaning. I know the building is old, but it does need maybe some updated electrical and extra plug-ins. Inside of the mini fridge was dirty on bottom. I cleaned it with a washcloth. (I'm a hospital environmental services cleaner and former hotel maid.) A few of the drinks in that fridge were also expired. This price for a room and no microwave? I presume you are really encouraging eating out in Chicago as well as getting people to order room service. How about a breakfast menu for room service? I would have loved that. I do have empathy and understanding for the maids and know that they are on a time crunch and usually underpaid in most places. So I considered the room to be clean ENOUGH, although not great.
Overall, I wasn't too disappointed, but also not overly impressed. I was paying for proximity and convenience, and that delivered in spades. But your cute hotel does need updates.

Clean rooms and nice beds. Parking nearby and they gave us a scan code to allow us to leave and return to garage multiple times a day. Right by Belmont station. No breakfast. But lots of coffee shops nearby. My complaint was that the place had an old smell that I didn't like. Also the fridge was stocked with beverages so if you had any need of a fridge, well no room in there!

Front desk clerks were excellent. Very close to the Vic so that was excellent. Nice area with many dining options and a few shopping options. Kind of dated/somewhat dilapidated but those are mostly cosmetic issues; was not a cheap room so would have expected a little nicer looking and newer things. Everything worked fine and was fine.

The hotel was nice. There was only 2 issues I had a problem with.
1) I asked the guy who checks people in if they had a dental kit. He said they have toothbrush but no toothpaste…. How am I supposed to brush my teeth without toothpaste? I thought it was kinda funny >:
2) the hall on the 4th floor has a very funny smell.
Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

Rooms were small and too much furniture in the room for the space. Bed was comfortable, so good if you are just looking to sleep, linen was stained. Limited plugs and dated/sketchy electrical. Small elevator so pack light. Close walking distance to Wrigley Field. Felt safe walking to and from the game, lots of people walking. Lots of places to eat/drink/shop. Parking sucks, closest parkade was full, had to park in one 3 blocks away, so drop luggage off first, then find a parkade to park at.

This is a very very old property. It is musty smelling and old furnishings. However, if you are only sleeping there, it would be fine for a night or two. It was 2-3 doors down from the L, and if you're going to a Cubs game, it is only 1-stop away from the hotel, so very convenient. The local restaurants were great, and the people very friendly and helpful. Front desk people, could put on a smile, it doesn't hurt.

We stayed here two nights to attend the Chicago Cubs game. It was an older hotel which is to be expected. It was clean and comfortable. Was within walking distance of Wrigley! Our disappointment was with parking, we knew ahead that parking was offsite, but we had to pay for parking. This was not as discribed.

It was convenient to everything; transportation, dining, and nightlife. The website indicates that they will give you a parking pass for nearby parking. That was untrue. We had to park on Addison St. and payed $225.00 for two nights. This should have been clearer on the website.
A fire alarm went off at 6:30 in the morning on Sunday. We went downstairs as expected during a fire alarm. We were told by the staff that “someone took a hot shower and the steam set off the alarm.” Seriously?? This seems problematic.
The landline phone in our room did not work.
The coffee was not available 24 hours as advertised. We had to ask for it twice. Once after we were awakened at 6:30 by the fire alarm.
Overall, it was a convenient place to stay once we found parking (which took two hours).
We will not stay there again.

WE CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN! From the room (quiet, spacious, very clean!) to amenities (stocked "mini bar") and most of all the staff. FABULOUS staff and so conscientious! It was my birthday (a landmark one) and when they heard, they left a bottle of bubbles in the room on ice for us to celebrate with along with a lovely note! After we checked out, I got a call that I left my glasses and they were so intent on getting them to me they offered to mail them. We were still in town so we stopped by to get them; turned out they were not mine, but the effort staff went to in making sure I could get them. We usually stay at the Drake or Palmer because of points used but THIS is our new fave! AND walking distance to great dining and shopping AND THE CHICAGO CUBS!

Great place in terms of proximity to Wrigley. However, when getting on elevator I shouldn't be overwhelmed with skunk weed odor, same for the hallways. You can't unforget that smell. Room didn't necessarily have it, but wasn't exactly the freshest. So the trade-off is nice location and deal with the cannibus. Regardless of what it is, most hotels don't permit smoking.

Such a cute hotel with great service.
The cleanliness of the room was questionable, as it was obvious the toilet had not been cleaned. One of the mini bar seltzer waters was open with the lid put back on and there was a Coke can under the bed. Just seemed like not a lot of attention was paid when cleaning.
The location is great and there are so many dining and shopping options nearby and it’s fairly close to Wrigley Field.
Parking is in a secure garage a few blocks away, which is not a big deal. There was no hotel-associated discount when using this garage so finding your own parking is an option too.

Crabby Night Shift
We arrived on Friday evening. The "host" at the front desk didn't smile; didn't say hello or welcome, just asked for a credit card and ID. When I asked about parking he said the usual parking was full and referred us to another location, which was also full.
The day shift at the front desk was friendly and pleasant. The same crabby guy was at the desk on Saturday night. That first impression is so important! We liked the hotel, just dread dealing with a crabby person while on vacation.

Place was clean but the building and rooms are a little dated. Help was friendly. No food service. Location is walking distance to Wrigley Field. Loved Wrigley Field and the friendliness of the staff there. If you are a first timer to the stadium, they have a picture booth to commemorate your visit.

Cons:
1. Parking is not on site-a short walk around the corner but still inconvenient with luggage-especially in bad weather.
2. Property is in a very old building. Room had a slightly off smell and always seemed damp. It wasn’t a deal breaker and we got used to it but a little off putting.
3. Cleaning staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Front desk staff-depended on the shift. We had somebody very helpful and accommodating and someone cranky.
Overall-a positive experience. I felt like the photos I saw before my visit portrayed the property in a slightly better light than it really was. I think more accurate photos would have allowed me to adjust my expectations accordingly. I would stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking for basic, comfortable accommodations near Wrigley.
