The room had a very musty smell which was not great. I think the carpets could use a good cleaning and maybe the air filters changed. The beds were comfortable and the staff was very nice. Breakfast buffet was fresh.

Wouldn’t stay here again
Hot water was barely warm, room had a funky smell without a/c on. Locked out of our room with a bad key & had to wait for 10 min for one of 2 attendants to wait on us. Was suppose to be in a online meeting making it worse. Seems clean, updated nicely, but the smell is right off the elevator.

Only issue room staff need to monitor shower supplies. Was a late night planed overnight took on only limited items shampoo being left in car to only find the shampoo pump empty. Otherwise wonderful stay.

Very nice location, great staff, lovely breakfast. Some minor critique of the room, 407, that we stayed. The barn door that closes on either the bathroom or the closet was a little diffficult (heavy), and potentially dangerous. I was leaning into the closet to retrive a shirt when my wife came out of the bathroom, pushing the barn door into my space, almost clocking me in the head. Also, the bathroom is missing a towel hanger and the main light switch next to the door is flaky and possibly a fire hazard. That said, we plan to stay here again for our next visit to Salem.

Bed was awful. We could feel the springs on our hips and back-did not sleep well. Toilet so low, had trouble getting down then up! Clean room. Nice staff.

After a bad experience at a Comfort Suites Salem (Wildwood Rd) branch last year, I moved my business here. Both my wife and I were pleased with our stay. While many hotels having decimated their breakfast offerings during covid, we were pleased with Hampton Inn's relatively comprehensive breakfast offerings - a pleasant surprise!

Bathroom door was hard to use. Hard to get at either bathroom or closet. Bathroom did not have enough hooks for towels.
Our room was right above the doorway. Window blocked by awning, parking lot light shining through the whole night. Not enough parking! Every single space was taken.

Traveling with a baby
We were an extremely late check-in due to traffic. We were traveling with our 9 month old. We called to let them know we would not be in until after 1am. The staff had the pack ‘n play all set up in our room so we could bring our little guy right up to the room and put him back to sleep! Thank you so much!

I prefer this location as it's close to my Aunt's house and it's usually very quiet, but not this time. I was there for my aunt's funeral and was awakened several times Friday night by surrounding noise (doors slamming, showers running, etc.) The bathroom door in my room was in need of repair as it was very difficult to slide. Following the funeral I received a call from home and had to check out early so I only stayed Friday night.

We were only staying overnight driving through from Massachusetts to Florida. The bed was super comfortable.
We got up early to hit the road again and the lobby and breakfast area was beautiful, nice and bright and clean and set up perfectly. The free breakfast selection was great! The coffee was hot and fresh! THANK YOU!!!

Nice hotel- unlucky room
The service at the front desk and breakfast was great! Everyone was very friendly. The room smelled wet and had some mold on the bathroom ceiling and wall. The breaker room was attached to our room and the light coming through was really annoying when we were trying to sleep.

Bed was hard and can’t stand feather pillows.
Bed was hard. Can’t stand feather pillows due to zero head support. The room and complimentary breakfast is NOT worth the ridiculous, ripoff inflated rates being charged for Hokie weekend events. Families pay enough for college and don’t need that extra gouge.

Bug crawling in our bed. Another bug on the floor. When we brought the big to the front desk; front desk giggled and named it!!! And a gave us a free candy bar. NEVER AGAIN. Because we booked through Expedia they can do anything to help us. I have reached out to Expedia and waiting for a response.

Our stay here was very well overall. My only complaints is the whole area other than our rooms smelt like cigarettes really bad, it was pouring down rain and there was a car parked under the awning so we all got soaked (it was there the whole night), and the pool is very small so we selected this hotel for the pool but it was way too small for the size of the hotel so we had to leave after only 15 mins bc there were just too many people. However, the hotel was very clean and the service was good.

Great Hotel
Great hotel. Stay here a few times per year as a stop on a road trip. Location is excellent right off 81 and close to several options for dining and re-stocking items needed. Very comfortable, friendly service, great breakfast. Indoor pool is good for kids too.

Great stopover
Just passing thru from vacation to home. Wonderful place. Room was great, coffee was available and delish (even decaf which I prefer and seldom find available) and breakfast was superb. All staff was pleasant and helpful.

Crooks!!! Zero concern for customer satisfaction
I reserved a King handicap accessible room. When I arrived I was informed that there were no king rooms available because of a maintenance issue. AlI they had was a double room that was not handicap accessible, because it had been a long day and was late with the understanding I could discuss issue with manager I took the room. Was lied to and told a manager would be in at 7 am and did not happen. For seven days hotels.com tried several times to contact the hotel with zero response. Finally was told they would offer nothing in return for their mistake but they were real sorry. Worst customer service and have zero accountability for their actions. At a minimum I should have been notified before my arrival that they were overbooked so I could make other arrangement. I should have been given at least a credit for the different room rates. I should really have been given an HA room like I booked. Guess they don't care about disabilities either. Singularly the worst experience I have had with any hotel and hotels.com. Neither made any effort to correct the situation. The managers Donna and Emily really should train staff and should try and be ahead of a situation instead of leaving an inexperienced girl to deal with it while they avoided their duties.

Possibly the best ever.
Quick and courteous check in, clean and very modern room and bathroom. Comfy bed and great pillows. Free breakfast awesome, great scrambled eggs with cheeze and waffles. Possibly the best hotel stay for the money ever for me.

Nice stay, good breakfast spread
Perfectly comfortable. Carpet in room was a little crusty, but otherwise no major complaints. Fox News on breakfast room TV was pretty disappointing. Leaves me wondering whether my fellow guests or the staff really hate America that much or are just frightened by everything. Or just that dumb.
