Amazing hotel!
Amazing boutique hotel that was so quiet, yes quiet in the city that never sleeps! Room was big and comfortable, centrally located and virtual check was really easy. Will definitley be back!

Quiet hotel in a good location
Had a pleasant stay in this conveniently located and quiet hotel. The room was comfortable, although there is no housekeeping service. The former version of the hotel served breakfast. Only coffee and tea are now available. The absence of an elevator is a small problem if you are staying on an upper floor and have a lot of luggage. The absence of staff who are physically present also creates a problem if you encounter any issues. Of most serious concern, was the lack of any place to store luggage if you arrive early or have a flight, train, etc. that leaves considerably after the hotel's 11:00 a.m. checkout.

To be honest... I was shocked how big was my room. I mean I expected something tiny and small bcs NY but this was really amazing. Unfortunately I extended my stays there for 2 nights extra bcs my flight got canceled and everything worked fine.
Coffee was also good obly one thing - nobody restocked capsules so I guess when hotels is full this can be a little bit problematic.

Clean n Comfortable perfect for us
Hotel interior was great, perfect for our stay, 10 min walk to Times Square, exterior not so great, dilapidated building next door and the shack of a restaurant from Orus directly out the front may put people off. Our room was the rear building of the 2 and on the 3rd floor and overlooked the small courtyard, not the greatest of views but we only slept here. Virtual front desk and code to get in the room was fine and worked well. Room, hotel and lobby was immaculate clean, very quiet area and close to local bars, shops and restaurants. Small kitchen in lobby was fine to make a coffee etc although cold water tap was just a dribble, could be improved if you wanted to fill your own water bottles etc, I used the tap in the bathroom, water was fine to drink. Shower worked well and was plenty hot, lots of towels but they were very small. Bed was comfy but very springy n bouncy which meant disturbing partner when turning or getting in or out of the bed, it was comfy to sleep on though. I would have liked my own kettle for the room with some paper cups etc. Room had a fridge, iron and ironing board. The fridge was a little noisy. Heating was good if a little too warm for me so I had to open the small window from time to time, this gave access to the fire escape if needed. TV comes with ROKU which I was not familiar with, it does have Disney and Netflix which I signed in with my own account, useful for a bit of unwinding. Overall the Room was clean and very comfortable.

The concept of the property is great. Very efficient but it is registered as a hotel and there was no cleaning service to the room at all during the 3 night stay and nowhere in the data mentioned there woud be no service. The common area always smelled fresh. Outside the it is another story, it was dirty and a lot of garbage

This was a perfect spot to stay while visiting the city- I’m even hesitant to leave a glowing review because I selfishly want to keep it an under the radar gem! Great rooms, nice amenities, fantastic location, and couldn’t have been easier- all at a super affordable price. I’ll definitely be back!

Small room which is typical for NYC. Ours backed up to a courtyard which was nice until someone decided to take his meetings there starting early and going all day, and I could hear every word. I did like the area the hotel is located; overall quiet and safe with lots of restaurant options.

Nice place to end date night!
The room was very clean and quiet, and we really felt like we had the whole place to ourselves and didn't even realize there were others there. The room was a little on the smaller side, but it was very clean and comfortable overall. The bed was the perfect size for the two of us, but the pillows felt a little off, and the memory foam bed was something that we needed a bit to get used to. Overall, it was a nice experience, would totally recommend for a romantic evening.

There is no staff, everything is by touch pad. my room was on the second floor. It was a walk up by a very narrow stairwell, I had a heavy bag and am 67 years old. It was treacherous. Street noise was terrible and I had to communicate by text and got no support. I asked for someone to come and help me carry the bag down at 10:55. They said they would get back to me and they did at 1:30!

Super clean and conveniently located for Broadway area. I am long time NYer and Times Square is my least favorite place. This hotel was located on residential street so it did not have the Times Square vibe. For those who like Times Square, it was near enough. Easy to walk to the west side piers and pedestrian river walks.

Odd Check In System, Centrally Located
A bit of an odd check-in as there are no staff on site, so you need to punch in a code to get in. The weird thing is that the code to get into the front door was also the code to my room, so some safety issues there I think. Otherwise, very clean and comfortable spot. Nice little courtyard between the lobbies and rooms — that is a rarity in the city. Free coffee and tea in the lobby. Obviously a great launching point to explore the city and take in shows/concerts at MSG.

I'm surprised by the great reviews. The toilet was running the entire time I was there, there were hairs in the bathroom and fridge, and the bed squeaked with every slight movement. My maintenance request to fix the toilet went ignored. The courtyard was cute but closed from 9 pm - 8 am; I never saw anyone using it. These were basic and uncomfortable accommodations, and I left a night early and stayed elsewhere.

No staff at the property so the check-in process was digitized. For some this may be a perk given the pandemic, however I found it cumbersome to not have people on site. In addition to the rate for the room there were hidden fees like luggage storage and cleaning. You had to go through third parties in order to have the basic amenities offered by other hotels. Moreover in hotels with receptionists you might be afforded the courtesy of a late check out or early check in as they know the customer flow.

The automated check-in was awkward, and had trouble with the door lock to my room. But very clean, extremely comfortable bed, great atmosphere in the hotel. Fantastic location with hundreds of restaurant choices within walking distance.

Should be a youth hostel
This was by far my worst experience with a listing on Hotels.com. Usually the listing clearly depicts the place and based on this I was expecting for plus $200 a night to have a decent place, with some views, a nice sized room and lobby. Instead, the lobby was no frills and small, the room was tiny, no views and the one window looked at a brick wall and a small courtyard (pass thru) so there was no privacy if I opened the curtains. The room had a decent bed, and the shower worked. Nothing to write home about, it was maybe 100 square feet, and the entire experience felt like a youth hostel. That's what it should be and not sure why it's on Hotels.com, where this price range could get you a really nice room in the upper east or west side. The photos in the ads are NOT what you get, I did not have a desk as shown, or any view, nothing. As a native new yorker I am upset I wasted two nights in this small uninspired place.

The 414 was located very conveniently for those who want to walk a bit to get to theaters, restaurants and trains. The small size of the hotel made for a unique experience in that the rooms were somewhat like small apartments. The King room was clean, but awkward in that it was a couple of steps below ground level off the rear courtyard. Staff was super friendly and kind.

Location was ideal for museums, shows and dining. Staff was welcoming and attentive. Hotel is old-world style, offering a unique stay in what were once 2 residential buildings from the past converted into one 22-room quaint boutique hotel joined by a cute outdoor courtyard. Bathroom finishes and beds are modern, comfortable and attractive. A fabulous way to celebrate a big birthday! Thank you, 414. We’ll be back.

Great service small hotel
The hotel is situated in a great location close to Broadway and many restaurants. The team are warm and friendly and really try to make you feel at home. the gathering spot inside the front entrance was a very good idea. the building is old so stairs are a bit narrow and rooms are fairly basic but comfortable and clean. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to see shows and be centrally located and do not need the amenities of a larger hotel.

Excellent, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff who provided maps and answered questions in advance and while there, arranged for car service to the airport, directed us to restaurant options, gave accurate and easy to follow directions. Fantastic hot water and water pressure in bath/shower. Lovely bath/toiletry products. Tea/coffee and light snacks available 24/7. Great location just enough out of the Times Square fray. We unfortunately arrived too late for social hour (wine & cheese I'm told) but breakfast was included--which was pretty typical continental breakfast choices of mostly breads/carbs, though fresh fruit was available as well as yogurt--the real highlight were the scones. The hotel is located a half block from restaurant row. It's a nice space. I don't know if all the rooms are like ours was, but we had no chair at all in our room, which was missed (with just the bed to sit on). The bed was a bit too large for the space, but one could just walk around it. Unfortunately, I did not sleep much though the bed was above average in comfort. There was this periodic noise that kept waking me--I eventually determined it to be associated with the mini fridge (so I unplugged it). I also had an issue understanding the heating system (I did go ask the staff in the middle of the night, who told me that it was set appropriately for). But between the fridge noises and the being too cold, then too dry and too hot, it was not restful sleep. However, my teen slept fine.

Absolutely loved it.
We have been to New York several times and stayed in some of the bigger hotels in midtown. This is a small European style b&b with a great staff. Jacqui was great in making arrangements and giving tour advice.
Only one block from Restaurant Row; three blocks to times square. We enjoyed meeting other guests during the continental breakfast or social hour in the lobby. Some guests had been here multiple times--a testament to this hotel. We will definitely come back.
Only drawback is no lift however we did not have to bring our bags to our room.

A lovely little hotel in a great location. The service was fantastic & we loved the daily wine & cheese social. The beds were comfy & the rooms were a good size and clean. The only downside was the lack of an elevator especially when your room is on the 4th floor! If this might be an issue for you request a room on the first floor.

A great base to explore Manhattan
It is the second time we stayed here.
The place is clean, the service is great, the location is less than 10 min walk to the Time Sq.
I have only two small complaints.
1. This year we booked a Premier Queen Room because we needed to a roll-away bed.
The roll away bed was a bit flimsy, and the room was not bigger than a normal Queen Room.
2. The breakfast room/lobby is very small and because a large group of German tourists occupied it for long periods of time, there was not enough space for tables and chairs for the other guests during the breakfast or the happy hour.
All being said, we recommend this hotel for location, service and being good value for money.

414 is in a perfection location for visiting theaters, restaurants, and sites in NYC! The room are comfortable and quiet. The 5:30 wine/cheese hour is nice and the morning cappuccino and bagels for breakfast are great.

A Gem!!
This gem of a hotel was excellent in every way! Complimentary breakfast in the morning and wine and cheese in the early evening were served in the cozy lobby. It was the perfect way to meet "neighbors" and make friends from around the world!
Jackie, the receptionist/host is wonderful - knows the area, knows the city and has answers to any question about what to see and how to get there. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable - fresh fluffy towels, an AC unit with remote control, and working wifi. The hotel is away from the main avenues, yet close to Times Square and walkable to many attractions. It even has a private outdoor courtyard and a small front porch to sip morning coffee and watch the city wake up.

A too short 3 day first trip to NYC
For first time visitors to NYC who ejoy being out of the noise this probably the place for you to consider. The staff is like having a on site tour guide and the place is like a B & B plus. Your are just two short blocks from all the noise and bustle of NYC but just that short distance is so nice and relaxing as is not dealing with cold lobbies and elevators etc. The common areas for breakfast and evening gatherings become very family like as everyone is sharing stories and experiences. Also most important is the place is clean and the neighbourhood felt very nice and like stepping back a bit in time. All pictures on the website are very representive of what you will get so it is nice not having surprises. Would not hesitate to rebook.

414 Hotel is like an older, small European hotel 20 minutes from the theater district and Restaurant Row. The staff is charming and helps guests maneuver luggage on the steps. I wasn’t impressed by the cereal, toast, bagels and dry scones for breakfast.

Stay happy at 414
This is a great hotel; the proprietors have attended to every detail including making excellent suggestions for tourists and business travelers alike. The room was spacious, comfortable and I loved the location which is on a quiet street just blocks away from the busiest blocks in town. Can't wait to go back. Also the espresso machine made a great cup of morning coffee. And the in-room snacks are priced reasonably (cheap, even) which makes the Milanos even sweeter.

Hells Kitchen is NYC premier gay neighborhood and it has it all! Besides the fabulous neighborhood transit options are easy in this area. Would come back again!

This is, hands down, the best personal staff and service I have ever received, in any travel setting, anywhere, and I have travelled the world from South Africa to Australia, to Israel, to Europe and in 43 states. Jacqui and Rachek and their colleagues were simply brilliant - warm, genuine, eager to help, understanding, personable, and sweet as family. What a gem! And, the front porch and lobby, the red door, the excellent coffee and snacks and breakfast service were so appreciated, ascetic, inviting, and soul saving. Thank you 414 Staff!

Very good hotel in Hell's Kitchen
This hotel has a lot going for it. The location, on W 46th between 9th & 10th, is great for anyone in town for theater. You are a short walk from all the shows, and all the great restaurants & bars in Hell's Kitchen. The staff are great - friendly & helpful. Our room & bathroom were roomy by New York standards. The bed was comfy and the AC both worked well & was quiet. The building is older but well maintained, rooms are clean, and continental breakfast is provided in the lobby. The downside? No elevator. We were on a 4th floor room so we got awfully tired of hiking up those narrow, steep stairways. That's OK for the young ones! Despite those stairs, we'd stay here again.

Our stay at the 414 hotel was amazing even if it was one night. Staff was friendly and answered questions that we had about the area. Rooms were a good size. There are 4 floors and no elevator but worth the stay!! Very close to times square, centwal park, Rockefeller Center and close to Subway to get to other locations

Front desk staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a great bonus. Clean room, comfortable bed, fridge and safe in room, and you can actually adjust the AC temperature.
A couple of minor negatives: (1) we could hear the people walking around on the floor above us, (2) the cleaning staff didn't replace empty shampoo/lotion and we had to ask the front desk ourselves.
But overall a wonderful experience. We've never tried a boutique hotel before this one. So glad that we did and will definitely stay here again next time we are in NYC.

The hotel lobby was so fun, it was very cozy with a communal table and a great continental breakfast. We met many other guests of the hotel who were from around the world. The staff were fantastic, very knowledgeable about the city and made sure we had every need met. I highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at 414. The room, the wi-fi, the TV, the continental breakfast, the afternoon wine and cheese, the staff (especially the staff), the location, everything, excellent. Oh, and did I mention they have a Jura machine (espresso maker) in the common area. So good. Highly recommended.

Great Boutique Hotel
We absolutely loved our stay at the 414 Hotel. It is only half a mile from Times Square & theater, but far enough away and in a residential area that isn't as noisy. The building is a 4-story walk-up, so being on a higher floor can be a challenge, but the staff is happy, even anxious, to help with toting baggage up the stairs. The breakfast offering in the morning is complemented by an espresso machine and a B&B style atmosphere of conversing with other guests and the hotel staff. I will definitely stay here again, assuming availability when I am visiting next time!

The 414 hotel is fabulous. The staff are friendly and helpful and good fun. They organise breakfast and social hour so the guests get to know each other which is great. So many hotels are impersonal but at the 414 we felt we were staying at someone's house. I would 100% recommend it to anyone.

Very cute like a Bed and Breakfast
My daughter and I stayed at the 414 Hotel for 3 nights. The staff are extremely helpful and nice. Love that they have free continental breakfast and in the evening they have beer,wine and cheese and cracker and dessert. They even offer free tours,however we left the day of the tour so we didn't get a chance to take advantage of that . Location is great, right on restaurant row,plenty of restaurants around and within a short walking distance to train and times square

The hotel is simple and clean. The staff are excellent. Friendly, with a wonderful selection of opportunities every day to enjoy New York more...
