It was a nice hotel. The mini fridge was small and no microwave. Our lamp in our room didn’t work and our keys for the room stopped working both the physical cards and the keyless key on the app. Parking was also hard to find in the parking garage. Overall it was a good experience but for the price we paid wasn’t worth it

The hotel was nice and modern. The staff did not offer extra complementary water unless requested. The neighborhood was terrific with well-known clothing and jewelry stores and restaurants.

I love Sofitel and have stayed at other ones across the country. Just a few concerns that the staff should make sure to restock the coffee creamer and condiments because usually that’s the first thing folks want in the morning. They also should keep an eye on the water and keeping that stocked in the room. Other than that, the service was wonderful and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. We had a corner suite on the 12th floor with stunning views. Walking distance to the magnificent mile and in the heart of downtown. Will be staying there again. The gentlemen at the door and the valet parkers were absolutely wonderful and super professional. Please give them raises.
Posh hotel. Classy. My kind of place.

Great hotel, but was a little let down.
I reserved this room for my mother-in-law as a surprise for her visit to Chicago. I had previously arranged for a welcome plate of macarons for her upon check in. Not only did she not get her welcome macarons, she also didn’t have any complimentary water available in her room. I was very disappointed. Despite this, the room was super comfortable and she enjoyed herself. When I mentioned this to the front desk staff, they did wave the amenity fee upon check out.

We really like the hotel, but its far from perfect
First, we really like the hotel. 2nd year in a row staying for our annual Christmas staycation.
People great. Room nice. Brunch delicious. Location great. Price not bad. Hotel interesting and cool. Things seem relatively updated.
Issues:
TV has very few choices if you don’t have Netflix. Just regular TV and Netflix on the remote. No ability to connect to other apps. No classic hotel pay movies.
Shower very small.
Toilet paper was thin. Definitely cost cutting. Though you see it at many other nice hotels these days too.
Bottle in bathroom out of lotion.
Personally it would be nice to have individual bottles of shampoo (though I guess that’s not eco friendly)

I NEED PARKING!
The hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown Chicago, a few minutes, a quick walk from the Magnificent Mile, (Michigan Avenue) near wonderful restaurants and great shopping. However, the biggest drawback is the parking. After paying for this beautiful room, parking should be free. There is a parking garage right next to the hotel that has a misleading sign saying “Hotel Parking” but there no way to get to the hotel from that structure and it’s about $50 a night for that. The hotel offers valet parking but that’s $76 a night. Solve this parking issue and this would be a fabulous stay!

The location was great for shopping, eating and sightseeing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean, but the mattress was not very comfortable. Overall, I’d stay here again, but I wouldn’t qualify this hotel as a luxury hotel.

The check in was unapologetically slow. It took 37 minutes to check us in. Two desk clerks and a manager behind the scenes were involved. Blamed on Expedia reservation. And excuses offered instead of apologies.
Then, when leaving, the text request for valet parking car retrieval did not work as they said their “phones were down”. So we waited and waited for the car to be retrieved. Meanwhile, while waiting for the car, the phone system that was down texted a response that the car was on the way. Lots of excuses at Sofitel for arriving and departure delays.
Other than that, the stay was as expected. Sofitel poses as a boutique hotel and the facilities are nice but the service (check in and valet departure) is falling way short!!

Excellent Hotel
This hotel is phenomenal! I will stay here everytime i'm in Chicago. Close to all the main city attractions, Le Bar was excellent, and the rooms were beautifully done and very comfortable. What i loved the most was the scent being diffused throughout the hotel. I bought that room spray before i checked out today. I recommend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to Chicago.

I really enjoyed my stay! So close to Michigan Ave and great restaurants. The doormen, front desk, restaurant personnel were all friendly and professional. Loved the early morning coffee in the lobby. My room was very nice and a good value!

C'est Manifique (except the bath towels)
I've stayed at this hotel twice now and both times have been very pleasant. It's in a great location, the rooms are very clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly. They have complimentary coffee & water, the wifi is free (all A+ in my book). I only wish the bath towels were softer.

I loved the staff, all staff, the location the wonderful breakfast.
The place is clean, beautiful , accommodating staff, I was able to check in early and leave my luggage due to late departure.
I did not like the hefty service charge on top of my breakfast bill and tip, my bill was close to $100 just for breakfast.

Seems like they're experiencing a staff shortage and the property is in decline. We were moved twice due to rooms and bedding being dirty. There a a loud drunk belligerent guy at the bar and they kept serving him, he was very very drunk, while he was spewing obscenities. Was bizarre. The front desk staff was wonderful and very apologetic. I hope Sofitel pulls it together as I've stayed at many locations in the past that were delightful.

The rooms are beautiful and well appointed. They do a tremendous group/conference business so there was wear and tear evident that is inevitable. Loved the pelotons in the gym - need weights less than 5lbs. Room service menu is pretty limited - but at least it's available. Every staff person I encountered was great!

Great Hotel
The stay was decent!. Having been my first trip to Chicago, I would recommend staying here. The walkability of this hotel was amazing - great restaurants and shopping very close.
A few negatives are having to request room service and the TV kept freezing. Also, there was a helicopter replacing something on a nearby roof that we were not warned about. Talk about a pleasant wake up call 😖

Superb stay for our anniversary
Our stay was for our anniversary..we picked the Sofitel because the location and we have stayed at the Sofitel in New York…Service was excellent from the valet parking personnel, the bellman, front desk and all staff. Our oom was comfortable and had all the little items that made our stay Great!

By far, Sofitel probably THE most comfortable beds and pillows that allowed me to get great rest after a long days work. The surrounding area has plenty of fine dining as well as small mom/pop food places with great food. Area is quiet compared to other area of River North.
