This is an older building but they take care of it. The employees are sooooo freaking friendly and kind. I had an issue with the tub not draining and I mentioned it on my way out and when I came back a couple of hours later it was already taken car of.

The hotel was in a great area surrounded by restaurants and shopping centers. The building itself is old and could benefit from remodeling. The rooms smelled old and moldy.

At least the last at check in was amazing
The night worker who checked us in, she was amazing. She was a black lady with a white patch on her stylish hair, don't know her name so want her to get the praise she deserves. She was amazing. She checked us in with a beautiful smile, helped us with getting extra bedding and my son for got his tooth brush and my husband his razor, so she helped with that too. Not once did she look or sound sour. She has the personality of a saint! She is why I even gave this place a 3. The bathroom was so dirty I didn't let my kids take a bath in there. The black bathroom mold was gross! The blankets smelled gross and musty. The beds were ok though. The counter and sink was clean too but the fridge was filthy and the walls damaged. Will I return? If I do, it will be to meet that lady again. She was the kindest. My family is dairy free so the breakfast was not for us.

Terrible Stay
Our stay was horrible. The first room was not ready and the second smelled like mold. I could not get another room and had to tolerate the horrible smell. The best they could do was offer febreze which only lasted one hour. Even the lobby smelled like mold. I wiped off the ac unit and that was filthy. The best they could say was sorry we are preparing for a renovation. If thats the case close off rooms with that terrible smell.

Bathroom was not clean. White dried up stain or solution all over the bathroom. Need repairs in shower/tub. Suggest replacing shower/tub. Items from previous guest left under couch. All the furniture was chipped and damaged. Knobs missing from cabinet in sink area.

It's was the passive aggressive nice nasty service from the front desk attendee, along with the smell of the rooms that made me cancel my stay. I had been on the road since 7:30am and it was around 6pm-7pm when I checked-in. The initial room was nice, clean and neat however it smelled of mildew. I contacted the front desk and requested to move to another room. The second room smelled worse than the first, but was too clean and neat. I was given Gain airfreshner when I decided to stay in the first room, but it didn't help with the strong odor of mildew. When I insisted on canceling my stay, I was offered yet another room and told all the rooms didn't smell like that. I declined viewing yet another room, I canceled the stay all together. My card was charged for the full stay and told I had to wait until Monday to speak with a manager to see about a refund when my card shouldn't have been charged in the first place.

Weekend vacay

I would give this Holiday Inn 10 stars. It was clean, staff were very nice and welcoming, all inclusive breakfast was A , the pool was nice, free laundry room, etc. If your in Sumter, South Carolina definitely stay here. You won’t be disappointed.

Our only complaint was the breakfast. When the stuff was on the bar it was good but there wasn’t that many people eating and all the core stuff was empty and had to wait a while to get fresh food. Luckily we weren’t in a hurry and the lady working the kitchen was friendly but it was a little disappointing waiting 20 minutes for cheese omelets.

Clean up the parking lot and do a better job of vacuuming the rooms (behind the beds). Spray for roaches, as we observed several. Clean out the pool to eliminate the sand, and sanitize the pool. Put a trash can in the gym to prevent trash from going where towels should go. Service the elevators.

Check was easy and trouble free. The front desk clerk was courteous and pleasant. Our room was clean and we were able to control the temp. It was quiet and we were able to sleep with no disturbance. It was a pleasant stay and worth the money.

Great Hotel
We stayed 2 nights while visiting family. Check in was easy, the staff were friendly. The room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was much better than other hotels we've stayed at. We would definitely stay here again.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!
I traveled to South Carolina from Alabama on the 21st of October 2022. After an over 5 hour trip I met with the manager Josh and got hassled about my last name being different on my credit card than it was on my driver's license. It was my last name which I just got married earlier in the year and had not had a chance to change my last name on this card yet. With Jason being a manager you would think that he would be able to think outside the box a bit and ask for another form of identification with the same name or another card with the same name. Unfortunately he did not and was willing to turn me away if I didn't have another card. He was so smug to even say this is for your own good. I did not find it intelligent nor funny after such a long drive. Surely this was not the end. I was placed in room 106 on the first floor right across from the place where the maid and janitors work. They blasted loud music all afternoon and first thing in the morning as well. Not to mention that there were people inside singing along. When I finally did get in the room thinking I would be able to relax....I was wrong again! After a survey of the restroom there was urine on the toilet seat and a thick layer of dust on the towel shelf above the sink on the left hand side. Luckily I carry clorox and clorox cleaner with me to hotels anyway just in case. I was so glad that I did I had to clean the bathroom myself. I was so upset. Needless to say this was a disaster. I will never stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. The room was very clean and I really liked the Dove products in the room (soaps and shampoo/conditioner). The front staff was very friendly. We checked in a little earlier than normal check in time and it was not a problem at all. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and we had no issues with the room.
The breakfast was actually a pretty good breakfast for a hotel breakfast. They had an automatic pancake machine, which I liked. It seemed so much cleaner - nobody touching anything. There were eggs, bacon, turkey sausage and sausage gravy with biscuits, cereals, milks, juices, etc. A nice selection and the lady stocking it did a great job keeping it well stocked and clean. I was very impressed.
Overall a nice stay. Would definitely stay here again.

The lobby areas were great, people friendly, breakfast superb.room spacious. Only complaint was no one straightened room for 4 days. No fresh towels x 4 days. Black mold in bathroom by the tub.

This was not up to holiday inn expectations I always stay at holiday inn and this was the worse I ever stayed at. First room smelled like damp mold had to wait an extra day to get moved. I never had to exchange my room before. No rooms available that day No one came to clean room except one day. Again I didn’t report it. Desk clerks were very nice and did help when I went to them. Will not be staying at this one again.

I have stayed at Holiday Inn several times during the last 5 years. I keep coming back for several reasons. The front desk always friendly and helpful. The minute you walk in you can see how clean it is..My room has always been very clean. I really enjoy the free breakfast. Also very convenient location. I love staying here when I am in Sumter.....

I enjoyed the hospitality of the front desk associate Bernadine. Bernadine was very welcoming and made check in easy and carefree.
The only issue that came up was that the pool was not open during my stay as well as there were no waffles or pancakes for breakfast. I was happy to see that there was an alternative for the pool being out of service. I was able to enjoy the pool at a nearby hotel that is affiliated with where I stayed.
Overall, my trip, stay, and departure was pleasant. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others in the future when they travel to Sumter, SC!

Our room was very comfortable, but it did not smell fresh. Wish I would've brought along some air freshener. The smell in the hallways and elevator was terrible, like smelly feet. The breakfast was good and breakfast room was fresh and clean.
They just really need to get rid of the bad odors in elevators and hallway. Employees were very nice.

Bernadette at the front desk was super friendly, helpful and informative. I had checked into 5 different motels prior to this one on this cross country trip. She was the first front desk person who stood out as someone who's not only efficient in the check in process but very welcoming as well. Guest laundry did not require coins which was a bonus. Stay was great. Comfortable. I, as well as many of my extended family, have stayed at different motels in the area over the years. Many of which are showing their age terribly. Was glad to see this one is being well maintained. Thank you for a great stay!

Room 105 had no fire alarm and the window curtain was not clean. Around the toilet was disgusting so I can only assumed the entire toilet was not clean as well. Mini fridge was not cleaned out. Light switches were nasty. I predict that. Airbnb's will put places like this out of business in the near future. The Coronet Motel is cleaner. Nasty ASS house keeping MF's. Just NASTY.

Looks ran down.. Rooms look old fashioned. Surroundings not that appealing. Wouldn't rent there again. Could of saved my money for a 5 star then to staying there. Really disappointed especially when you arrive and it doesn't look like how they advertising.

We randomly chose this hotel after being on the road traveling, for somewhere to get some sleep. I reserved without paying until check in, to make sure we were pleased with the property first. I used a pre-paid card with no funds to avoid any funny stuff. The moment I walked in I was asked if the last name on the reservation, gave that info and was rudely told “Well your card declined”…I proceeded to explain I was aware there were no funds and had another card but asked why my card was even ran, considering when booking it said “YOUR CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED THIS IS JUST TO HOLD THE ROOM”…I guess that question offended the front desk lady because she then began to argue with me. Once checked in, the room was decent but the shower floor was not the greatest. Looked permanently stained with dirt. Around the hotel, there is a “cheaper hotel” that had a lot of weird uneasy people walking around late a night, gave the impression that drugs were pretty close by. Overall decent hotel but between these 3 things I would not stay again.
