The hotel has a lot of historical value, it used to be an old bank. The staff was very attentive and nice.
We had an incident with the AC, it wasn’t cooling around midnight. Front desk sent a technician to repair, took a few minutes but it was resolved. Overall the stay was excellent , but that minor incident made it a good stay review!

The only thing I can complain about was the weather: the extraordinary cold and icy conditions left the area a ghost town and so exploring the city was not an option. The hotel itself was warm and the staff friendly. Thank you!

Rooms a/c was broken, the shower was out of soap, and one of the mattresses reeked of piss. The front desk was friendly and the nice repair man fixed the a/c.
Had to really convince the service women to get us a new mattress, but she finally agreed after smelling the mattress. All problems were resolved in the end but me and my group expected better from such a high quality hotel.

Terrible stay!! Zero sleep!!
Beware before you book this hotel!! There is a bar/club across the street that plays music SO loud you will get no sleep! It was shaking the building it was so loud until the wee hours. Our A/C in our room was also making terrible noises all night so we just had to turn it off (hotel is old). Restaurant downstairs was terrible… it took forever to get service and the food was just ok. This was a family trip and we were so looking forward to our stay. Instead we headed home as zombies after getting zero sleep. It’s expensive and you do not get what you pay for!! The hotel staff know the club noise is an issue and I understand they can’t control the club but they could have at least disclosed the noise level/issue at booking or check in. When we called the front desk at midnight They told us it was just for one night for a ‘Christmas Party’ so we opted not to move/downgrade our room as we had already unpacked… then it was a party all night the next night too. We won’t ever stay here again.

Disappointed
Very disappointed considering our first stay was great.
Street party going on till 4am making it impossible to sleep. No hot water in the shower. Extremely pricey for what it is.

The bathroom had never been cleaned. There was a bar of soap in the bathroom with pubic hair on it, the toilet seat was up and dirty as well. I brought it to their attention they said I could move with a nasty attitude as if it was my fault. I requested they clean it because I was in a rush. I left for my event only to return to a turn down service and the bathroom tidy up but never cleaned and the nasty soap and hair was still there. The front desk clerk was very rude again and only suggestion and remedy was to move; no further accommodations were offered.They didn't circle back to check on me. They did not offer to compensate in any way. The hotel also did not have any coffee in the lobby area. I travel frequently and this was my worst stay ever.

There are so many nice restaurants in the area you can walk to and since we were there for the baseball playoffs so Minute Maid stadium was a very convenient walk.
Our room was small but exceeded expectations because it was a cheerful updated space. We could not have been more pleased.

I liked that valet is easy, the trim is painted nice colors, the bath tub with shutters is special, the shower is huge and pretty, the bed is very comfortable. The elevators are cool. The lobby could be updated.

Our deluxe room was warm & inviting and very charming. The hotel has a historical nuance and southern feel. The bathtub that was shared & open to the bedroom was exceptionally nice!!

A Great Option in Downtown Houston
The staff is friendly. The property is well maintained. The shuttle bus to and from the ballpark was a lifesaver on a day where temps reached 105. The bed was comfy. If there was one quibble, you could hear the thumping bass from the nearby clubs until 2, but not enough that it kept us awake.

We loved this hotel! We were there to attend a baseball game. The hotel shuttle was perfect! It drove us right to the gate at Minute Maid Park and picked us up afterwards. The hotel itself was charming. The bathroom was amazing.

My husband and I went to an Alley Theatre play. Hotel Icon transportation was able to take us to the Alley Theatre and pick us up. That was a huge help. And we decided to go to Sambucca's to listen to music and they were able to take us there. Since it was a busy evening, we had to UBER back to the hotel. It was quicker. We celebrated our 28th anniversary and Hotel Icon made it special for us. We are returning customers and hope to be back again. Thank you!

Service was very good, hotel shuttle is super amenity, and hotel restaurant is quite good. But bath towels are awful (like sandpaper), wifi was very inconsistent, and hot water in shower became cold (but just on first morning). Great location - close to most everything.

We liked the historical look of the hotel. But, it is seriously lacking in cleanliness. All of the towels were stained and looked dirty. There was something gross on the inside of the curtain. We literally wiped the entire room with Clorox wipes. The food in the restaurant was not that good. We also had a man outside looking through the glass at us while touching himself inappropriately. It was repulsive. Plus, the cost of the room was $200 more than what was expected and quoted. Really wanted to like the place, but it just wasn’t up to par. We will not be staying here again.

It is hard to see a grand old Lady start showing signs of age and abuse. She is older now but still graceful. The neighborhood has really changed and not so safe anymore. Wallpaper is starting to crack in places and fixtures are starting to show age spots, but everything works, is comfortable, and still elegant. Breakfast was not the greatest, but tasty nonetheless. I will be back and enjoy her again someday soon.

Hotel is the perfect location for enjoying downtown houston nightlife, fantastic bars clubs and resturants. Behind closed doors was fantastic and its a stumble distance from the hotel. Its clean, classy and amazing. Book a stay you wont be disappointed.

The first night we had stains on the bedsheets. The furniture was disgusting and look like it had crumbs and sticky glue on top of the stools and the chairs. The carpet look like it and not been cleaned, and the shower curtain had mildew and what looked to be a bloody handprint on the shower curtain in the area that you would reach to pull it back. I called down to the front desk and no one answered. I called five or six times from both the room, phone and my cell phone. They also did not have Wi-Fi service the next morning. I asked Main in the front desk to please change the shower curtain. When we returned, it look like the entire bathroom had been scrubbed down, the room had been vacuumed. The furniture had been vacuumed And the sheets have been changed. It was like an entirely different room. I try not to think about the fact that the room may not have been cleaned when we slept through the first night.

For the prices of the rooms. They should serve free breakfast in my opinion or not want they want. I do love that its next to all the bars. Once you walk out the door is the best bar in town..Angel Share.

The most comfortable bed of any hotel!! Nicely renovated classic building. A wonderful two night stay. We will look forward to a return visit. Oh, great breakfast buffet also. Ask for a quote room. Night club music / noise can be a bit of an issue.

First time stating here’s and definitely will not be our last. The hotel is warmly decorated and beautifully designed. The staff was polite, professional, and friendly.
Our room was clean and romantic with a great view overlooking downtown. The bed was very comfortable.
We are already looking forward to our next stay here!!

I would have liked to stay longer.
Hotel seemed very nice. Unfortunately, I checked in late and left early for business, so I could not take advantage of any of the amenities. The property is well located for events in downtown Houston.
