Updates needed
Hotel is definitely in need of updating. Location was excellent, room size was very good by NYC standards. Shower had plenty of hot water and pressure. In room refrigerator, microwave and mini sink was a nice bonus.

Scary, unsettling
There was no hair dryer no tissue box. They placed me in an adjoining room where the next guests kept trying to open the door. This happened several times and the receptionist didn’t do anything but make a call. Later raised to management who said I hope the rest of your stay was fine.

Good location, easy to get around, plenty of places to eat, lots to see. Get what you pay for as this was cheaper than other nearby hotels, rooms were good size but what looked nice in pics certainly needed updating. TVs could have used access to streaming apps. A bit noisy we were on second floor. We were happy with great water pressure. Convenient parking garage next door not affiliated with hotel and no discount. If you are not going to spend a lot of time in room and be out seeing many sites, not a bad choice.

Mediocre Accomodations
The best part of this hotel is the location. Easy to walk to Rockefeller Center, Times Sq, Central Park, etc. The room having a separate lounge area was great too. But this hotel is in desperate need of a renovation! The heat was either on or off with little inbetween. You’re hot or cold. The windows must be single pane and you can hear all street noise. The TV system is from 2000 at best. The cover on the daybed was so dirty looking that I didn’t want to sit on it nevermind the idea of sleeping on it. There was no extra blanket for that anyway. And the bathroom was so dark. I hope they update the hotel soon. It is great for families with lots of space which is amazing in NYC.

Loved the old feel and location. Staff very nice. Definitely needs to be updated. Broken mirror in bathroom, no hair dryer.
Big room! The hide a bed was unusable as it was old and all the bars could be felt.
Would we stay again? Yes. :-)

Brilliant find - just around the corner from the nearest sub and a 10minute walk from Times square.
Room was beautiful and massive with a separate lounge area with another TV. Heating so easy to use though not remote control but wasnt an issue.
Staff were great and although they said kettles were included, all you have to do is ask. Cleaner lady so friendly and nothing is too much hassle.
Stayed 6 nights and WILL definately be back again.
Luggage was left on last day for only 2$ - a lot less than other hotels nearby.
No onsite dinner but plenty of snacks to buy if hungry.

I read some all-over-the-map reviews and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was great. Excellent location, close to the subway and easy walking to all the great mid-town locations. I stayed here over several days when I ran the NYC Marathon and it was so convenient. The room was large by NYC standards, and clean. Yes, you have to ask at the front desk for things like a hair dryer, but it's no big deal. The staff is friendly. Everything's a bit dated but it felt clean and comfortable, and the price was right. I wouldn't have a problem staying here again.

Very few amenities in the room. No tissues or hair dryer and only 1 bar of soap to use for the sink and shower. The vending machine did not work so no where to get water bottles on site. The towel bar fell off the wall and the shower knob also fell off the stem.

The staff was friendly and the low cost of the $2 bag holding after checkout made our trip more conveinent. The bath tub wasn't very clean and the jets and the controls looked bad. The tub also didn't drain very well and the shower pressure wasn't very good. One of the elevators was out of service but luckily we were on the 4th floor so we mostly used the stairs.

The Blakely Hotel was conveniently located to Central Park, restaurants, museums and theatres. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will come back.

1 week stay Blakely Hotel NYC
Excellent value for money. Best location for our first time in New York, central to all major attractions and various underground options available close by. Spacious room equipped very well with kitchenette (including fridge freezer and microwave). Were provided with a kettle and hairdryer on request. Good bathroom with toiletries and towels changed daily. Room was cleaned daily to a high standard (great work by the Housekeeping staff). Definitely staying here again when back in New York. Greatly recommended!

Great Room Great Location
I enjoyed my stay quite a bit. It’s a very comfortable big room and the hotel is a ten minute walk to everything. Staff was great and I will definitely be back. Most of the bad reviews seem to be from haters who canceled at the last minute or just like to complain …….this place is great! It OG New York…..and I can’t wait to got back.

Could not ask for a better location. Close to the subway, great restaurants on 9th Ave, Times Square and Central Park. John(concierge) was knowledgeable with directions and recommendations.
The furnishings are dated but clean. The AC was very loud and barely kept the room cool. Ear plugs a must.
An $8.00 fee to store luggage. Not sure if this is now a New York standard.

I wouldn't stay there again. The people were attentive and the location was good but it was so outdated.
Our room had an old tub that really needed to be replaced. The room had a smell of old smokers, stains on the ceiling, and for some reason no top sheet on either bed. It also wasn't able to cool lower than about 76 degrees.

GREAT Location - SO Convenient!
This was my first trip to NYC and I'm glad we stayed at The Blakely. We were so close to everything and we walked everywhere. The hotel is located close to a variety of subway stops, so we always had transportation available. (We chose to not bring or rent a car and I am SO GLAD we did it this way so we did not have to mess with parking/driving in NYC) The hotel is pretty dated inside and the bathroom could use some refreshing, but really, we spent a lot of time out and about, so it worked well for us. The Blakely was definitely the most reasonably priced (for our budget) and worth it because of how convenient it was!

This is an older hotel, but very clean and great service from all the staff. The location is great, it is within walking distance to Central Park and the subway entrance is about 200 feet from the hotel entrance.

An older hotel, but the room was exactly as indicated on Expedia. Very large room with a nice size bathroom. Comfortable beds. A box of Tissues and extra TP in the bathroom would have been appreciated.

This was an amazing gem older hotel. We were surprised at the size of rooms. Very clean and awesome staff. It is older but well worth it and very convenient to areas for tourists and shopping! We definitely will stay again.

The hotel has seen better days and its furnishings show this. The beds sheets and towels were clean and very serviceable however, there was evidence of water leakage above the shower, the bathroom door was off it’s hinges and when they eventually fixed it, it wouldn’t close, shower pressure was adequate and the air conditioning was noisy and adequate. The female staff members were extremely pleasant, helpful and informative. The male members were brash and rude except for the night porter. They charge $2 per bag to keep your luggage which they didn’t tell you about until you brought your luggage for safe keeping. They are located centrally with easy walking access to Central Park, Times Square and all its attractions and eateries. Apart from when the theatre opposite turns out, it’s quiet.

For the money spent to stay there, they could not even offer a bottle of water or coffee. In fact, I has asked about a coffee maker and the man at the desk acted surprised that we did;t have one, but said I had to call house keeping in the morning. When I called in the morning, they brought one up. I had to call back to say that they did;t bring any pods with the Keurig machine they brought me - and that's when I was told "I'm sorry we don't offer coffee". So no one could have stated that before bringing up a useless Keurig??? Oh, and the shade WOULD not budge so we had bright lights and no way to block them. The bed was comfy. There was nothing really wrong, but nor was it pleasant in any way

It’s an older hotel and considering this it’s well presented.
We had issues with the toilet and we had to ask to get this fixed a number of times.
Locality to sites in NY.. awesome. Very close to Central Park and Times Square. And a subway located just around the corner

I got charged for a cancelled stay
The hotel cancelled my stay one day before I was set to check in. I had to rebook with a different hotel at the last minute. I got an email on the last day of my stay saying that I had been charged for the cancelled booking. After emailing the hotel to ask for a refund,

We loved our stay at this hotel. It is very close to Central Park and Times Square as well as various subway lines and buses so we could either walk or get public transport to all other areas of the city.
The staff were super friendly and helpful and gave us some tips of less known places to visit that were really cool and their $2 service to keep your bags after check out was a lifesaver for us as we had a very late flight so we’re able to have another day of exploring hands free after checking out for only $6 (3 bags) before coming back for them and being able to get on the subway nearby to JFK.
The only warning note I would say is that we could hear the traffic from our room so if you are a very light sleeper it might bother you but we had no problem with it.

Large room, great location at a great price,
The location in NYC is great. The room was a large suite and was very clean and quiet. The living/sleeping area was dated, but the bathroom was large and nice. The king bed was comfortable. They don't provide a hair dryer or iron, unless you request it (they forgot to bring the hair dryer to our room after requesting). They don't provide facial tissues, but the rest of the bathroom ammenities were very good.

The Blakely needs to change their website. It’s misleading with all the photos. By looking at all the photos of the hotel before booking, I was under the impression they had a restaurant in their hotel. When I checked in, I asked about the restaurant because we arrived early, I was told it’s been closed for two years…The rooms were large but you can smell a dusty mold odor. The room needs a good cleaning. You can see all the dust in each room. Bedding was clean, the tv wasn’t working nor any cable stations. The staff was pleasant. I only stayed for one night because it was close to the Broadway shows. When we visit NYC next time, I’ll be staying somewhere else. Again, the staff was pleasant.

Delightful old hotel
This is a delightful hotel. I was given a suite with a small kitchen and sitting room so my work space was separate from the bedroom, and i could save money by cooking up small meals. Although close to Times Square, it is on a very quiet street with no all-night flashing signs and hubbub. I found the Blakeley cozy, comfortable and restful and I will definitely stay here again.

No hot water after the first day, had to move to a different hotel. Was told by the property manager to request cancelation and they would issue a full refund but Orbitz is telling me they declined my request. The hotel say they issued a refund before Orbitz tells me this. The card the hotel claims the refund was issued to does not belong to me. I am very confused about what is going on and I can’t get a response from the property manager. Terrible experience

Lovely place near Central Park. Small, cozy. Loved the antique feeling, the books in the lobby and the wood trims and chandelier in the room! Very comfortable room and a lot of tranquility. Great for short trips. My only suggestion would be to have a small coffee machine in the room. Only that and its perfect.

Absolutely fabulous room(s): bedroom., sitting room & marble bathroom. Unfortunately there was no hot water the day I arrived, the problem was rectified the next day. That did not tarnish my stay. Beautiful, old fashioned hotel my room overlooked the dome on City Center. I hope to return

I loved the size of the room. It was spacious and refreshing for NY. The location is great! Close to all the stores, beautiful to walk around at night.
I didnt like the bathroom fixtures. The bathroom soap dish was unglued from the wall and the water didnt get hot but i went in right after my boyfriend.

I had an unexpected medical emergency while staying here, requiring surgery.
Jacob and his staff were extremely helpful and professional in assisting me.
This is a gem of a hotel at a reasonable cost. And location wow!
A sort walk from Carnegie Hall, Central Park, Lincoln Center and world class shopping.

Tired old hotel in convenient location for my needs on this trip. Small room with one bed (I reserved a room with 2 queens), bathtub didn’t drain, 1 of 2 elevators out of service creating havoc during checkout, old worn carpeting, etc. $400 for night seemed excessive given quality. Front desk staff unfailingly polite and cheerful through it all however. So that was nice.

Having stayed at the Blakely numerous times (and recommending to others), we were disappointed, The towels were cheap and thin. There were no Kleenex and no coffee maker. The lobby is now looking shabby, too.
When we asked about possible breakfast places, the (very nice) person at the counter mentioned only one place which was mediocre. Later in the day we noticed that there were several other restaurants nearby that he should have known.

The bldg & some furniture obviously old, only 1 elevator worked, no bus ctr, no direct dial to hotel. However, we were quite comfortable here! Clean place, spacious (ample room for 2 luggage racks), nice bed, linens & towels, roomy bath w good hot water & pressure, big tub, equipped kitchenette, lots of lights and chairs where needed, welcoming lobby, immediate text-back when tried to call w problem, helpful staff.

Quaint, older hotel in a great location in mid Manhattan and at a reasonable price. Furnishings were worn but room was large, bed was comfortable and room overall was clean. Only one working elevator but not a big problem for us even with our room on 15th floor. We asked multiple times for a copy of our bill and were told the manager would email it but it was never received. Had to check with our credit card company to make sure we were billed the correct amount.

Worth the stay.
The stay was great. It is an older hotel and one day, not their doing, the cleaning staff was out. We had a second floor room which was great and they were able to combine out one night and 3 night stay together to stay in the same room with one check-in. The staff was awesome and the location to the Macy parade route was perfect along with access to so much else in New York. Would definitely stay again.

Property was very clean but very old building. Needs upgrade. Only 1 working elevator that could only fit about 3 people comfortably. Spent a lot of time waiting for the elevator to come. Had to ask for coffee maker then they ran out of coffee. Hotel was close to everything, it was very clean, and staff was nice and helpful.

This was above my expectations. From the minute we entered the lobby, I knew I was in a lovely facility worth far more than I paid. Because I got a budget room, I had no view. But I was only in the room to go to sleep, so that didn't bother me.

Midtown deal - good service, a flavor of old nyc
Its a great deal for the area. Do not expect brand-new, cutting edge details - this place has not been renovated in many many years. But the staff is friendly, they give you a clean room, and location is good. In many ways, I loved it - it felt like Old New York...

When we arrive at the Blakely they told us we were not in this hotel that you changed it and we wound up at their sister property called the Herald which was 20 blocks away and nowhere as nice as the Blakely and they said you changed it to the Herald and I want something done about this
