Stinky bed
I was staying in a double bed room. Was laying on top of bedspread watching TV. Got tired pull sheets back ugh. Bed stunk, smelled like it has not been cleaned. Horrible. Went to the other bed and that was clean and comfortable was so bad leaving the spread back room started stinky. So I covered it up and it was better

Im in town for work. I got there late got the wrong keys twice then the room i wanted wasn't given to me. The following week i was going to stay for another week. They raised the rate by more than 100 bucks

The worth check in I ever had. Bu mistake I booked smoking room. I asked to change it for non smoking. Immediatly asked for $19 surcharge for changing from smoking to non smoking. Weard. Also I was forced to give deposit cash $100. Without deposit xheck in was not allowd.

Cheap but worked
Your most basic, low-cost stay but it was clean and safe and worked for our needs. Breakfast was oatmeal packs and muffins, would've liked at least some water or juice options. Very easy on/off from I81. Only negative was the first night, the halls reaked of pot smoke. 2nd night wasn't bad.

This property is in a very nice location. Since I am from that area I was familiar,but this is clearly a 50.00 a day hotel if that. Due to the fact there were no hotels available in the area and we needed a room on short notice we had no choice,but to stay here. The room was surcharged at 196.00 plus tax. They also had a mandatory 100.00 hold for incidentals. There is nothing of value in that room. It is very dated. Cobwebs in the corner,old lamps and furniture. The tub was dirty,because the drain was slow draining.The covers looked cosmetically nice but were very thin like curtains. The rear door could stand to be windexed there were tons of smears and fingerprints all over it. I did not sleep well. The staff was very nice and friendly though,and the towels and washcloths and bed sheets were clean.Those were the only positives.

Past its prime
A great location and a fair price but the hotel has passed its prime. Do not be confussed by the continental brekfast. Toast, miniture bagles and weak coffee

The whole place smelled so bad that we could not spend more than 15 minutes in the hotel. There was a small blood droplet stain on the pillow on one of the beds. The pillow case was never washed after the blood got on it. There was a huge stain of some sort on the chair in the room. I tried to make the best of it since it was just for one night to drop off our son but it was impossible. We ended up staying at a different hotel. I felt unsafe. I also thought the car filled with my son's college stuff was unsafe in their parking lot.

Rude manager + very poor service
After checking in and walking up to my room, I found I was placed in a room that has a tremendous odor of wet animals (I do not have animals). The room
In general was not great by any means and the bathroom was in very poor condition, but the odor was my issue.
I spoke to the shift manager and let him know the odor was unbearable and I would not be able to stay in the room.
I was told I would need to pay extra to be moved to another room, because there were no non-smoking rooms of equal price available. I stated that I did nothing wrong and I was not going to pay extra to move to another room.
The manager went in a tangent stating he didn’t believe me and I was the reason Roanoke/Salem was so bad. I implored the gentleman to go smell the room for himself if he would not take my word for it. He refused and kept on his tangent.
I booked a room at another hotel the same night then attempted to get a refund through hotel.com, but it was denied repeatedly because the manager at this location lied and told them I stayed for an extended period of time.
Do not recommend.

The building is old and outdated. The room was on the 3rd floor and you have to climb steps. There’s no elevator. The smoke detector in our room was pulled down I’m assuming to stop the beeping. Spend the money and stay elsewhere.

We felt unsafe and uncomfortable. The employees were very unfriendly. The deposit of $100 was separate and not refunded immediately at checkout. The breakfast was very limited and there was no seating available. The room itself had an offensive smell which was coming from the air conditioner. We turned it off and slept with the window open. Would not stay again, nor recommend it.

Easy to find it. They took $100! deposit. Next day they refused to refund it until housekeeping reports that nothing was wrong with the room. They didn't want to check the room when I was checking out. The hotel didn't trust me and charged me deposit, so why I should trust them.
Stay away from this hotel.

Toilet backed up and staff at front desk would not help me use another bathroom in the hotel. Needless to say I was exasperated because I had to go very badly and I said please come quickly to help and he felt put out because i had an attitude.
He refused to help me walk away and left me.
Also 3:00 in the morning there was a party going on in the hallway and it went on for quite a while with no one stopping it. I was actually scared because of this craziness.

We had an excellent night at the Super 8 in Salem - our room was clean and had a fridge and microwave. The staff is the best! Peter, the manager, and Cathy, a staff member, were so helpful to me - going out of their way to help me deal with a difficult situation. This hotel is an excellent choice for the budget-conscious traveler. Thank you Peter and Cathy for all your help!!!

Didn't like the fact that i had to pay an extra $100 after the fact of already paying the room rent. Nothing was stated until the day of when i was going to check in. Since people only have so much money. I had to call a family member to write me money.

The property is at a good location however the rooms and hall smell like smoke, the cigar smoke was inside our room and felt intoxicating, also the noise from outside is super loud if you’re a light sleeper this is not for you. The pillows were not comfortable at all. I wouldn’t stay here again.

It aas easy to get to from the highway. Asked if we could have a room on the bottom floor, but we had booked a room with 2 beds and they were all on the top floor and no elevator. Found a half eaten chicken in the microwave. Breakfast looked scarce.

The property itself was fine and what you would expect from a hotel in this price range. Clean enough, easy enough, etc. What we did not expect was a staff member trying to get into our room at 11:30 at night while we were sleeping and yelling to find out who was in the room. Terrifying way to be woken up and when the phone rang, and the person on the line (presumably the front desk) did not identify themselves, did not explain why our room was being entered, and did not apologize for the jarring experience, it left a bad taste in our mouth. So overall, this place is fine, but the staff and their customer service leave alot to be desired.

Aside from being in a state of disrepair, the hotel took a $100 deposit from me when I checked in (instead of obtaining an authorization for incidentals as is customary). Now the hotel management is pretending my name is not in their system and refusing to refund my deposit. Stay away plenty of other options nearby!

The rooms have been remodeled somewhat recently, but they have not been maintained. I had 2 rooms. The entire hotel smells like cigarette smoke, bathrooms were dirty, and sheets were dirty. We moved both rooms and they weren't much better. It's not terrible, but I won't be back.

Disappointing
Holes in blanket. Stains on sheet. Ring in toilet as if it hadn't been cleaned recently. Towels not neat--looked like they may have been left from the people before. Not enough towels for the 4 of us in the room. Bed was comfortable.

It was ok…. Had to pay $150 deposit which you won’t get back for a couple days…. Bed looked like someone came in to watch TV with 3 pillows stacked….. owner walked in 2x’s to check on room after we had arrived… shampoo bottle had enough for 1 man’s hair wash….

Upon check-in I was graded by manager that was rude. He told me my card was declined and was about to cancel my reservation until I insisted he tried again in which my card was accepted. We get to the room and the TV did not have a electrical cord I called the front desk which thankfully was resolved but the room was extraordinarily outdated and downright disgusting. I was wanting to leave before nightfall. I was too exhausted to drive my two small children so we did stay The next morning the continental breakfast looked like some thing that came from the trash. They served waffles without syrup and the waffles or questionably hard. Me and my family discarded what we took from the continental breakfast and went to get breakfast elsewhere. Only the lower level of the hotel is handicap accessible. There is no elevator only stairs.

Cheaper for a Reason
I was looking for a clean and cheap hotel. Cheaper than most but I would not recommend this Super 8. It was terribly dingy, dated and in disrepair. The clientele that hangs around is not family friendly, to say the least.

Hotels.com blows.
I was looking for a place in Salem, Oregon, which I clearly stated in my request. Hotels.com snuck a place in Virginia and I stupidly paid for a room that I had no chance of ever going to. I accepted ultimate responsibility by paying for the room, but you should have never made it available.
I will never use hotels.com again. You gained a sale but lost a customer.

Checking in was easy, as the gentleman at the counter was very pleasant…Room key frequently gave us trouble to get in the room, however getting replacements was easy enough. As for cleanliness, it was clean although it did kind of smell like smoke…The location was near to where we needed to go so that was perfect..Nothing fancy but a simple place to stay….One awesome thing about this hotel is that it is pet friendly!…I didn’t travel with my pet but it is great to know!

The hotel clean, but the amenities lacked. The towels felt like sandpaper, horrible. We only got 2 towels for 4 guests in the room. There was food in the mini fridge from a previous guest, disgusting. The fact that we were placed on the 3rd floor with NO elevator was very inconvenient. Having bad knees made the walk up painful. If we had been told we would be on the 3rd floor we would have requested a 1st floor room. The hotel seems to be living quarters for transients and ALL guests were on the 3rd floor.

Because we had a dog they stuck us in a room on the third floor back corner that looked abandoned. The room stunk of smoke. Bathroom was filthy tv didn't work. Place looked like a crack house. Place is a sh!thole. Luckily we only needed a place to crash for one night. Would not recommend staying there and this comes from someone who is not picky at all. I hope the owners enjoy our money.

The staff at this hotel is very rude. At check in we were lectured about not smoking in the room. I do not smoke so it was not an issue but the clerks exact words were " I am going to be ugly with you now so I don't have to do it later" such a nice welcome 😒 We were than checked in and went to our room which was dirty, beds unmade and TV on as if someone was already in the room. We were finally given another room. The first night there a fight broke out across the hall and continued down 2 floors into the parking lot at 2 in the morning. During the day the cleaning people ran up and down the hallways screaming and being loud. Would not advise this hotel to anyone with children or women traveling by themselves.

Great property but questionable front desk service
The property itself was excellent, as was the room comfortability and cleanliness. The only issue which was a huge negative was that it literally took nearly 20 minutes to check in. That's not a waiting in line behind others wait, as there was no one else trying to check in at the same time - that's literally waiting for the girl behind the counter to actually slog through everything, including needing my card twice for the silly deposit. Maybe part of it was the system having issues, and that's fine, but there was literally no sense of urgency, no apologies for it taking so long, no explanation offered, and this was after 11pm to boot.
I wouldn't let this keep me from staying here again over one experience - again, the property and room themselves were great especially for the money - but if you read any other review with similar comments on the front desk service, you might want to think twice before committing.

Old carpets, smoke-free rooms smelled like someone smoked in them. I had to request another room that did not smell of cigaret smoke.
Free breakfast was cheap, bunch of dried up bagels (likely yesterday's) right in a check in area. No chairs to sit down. No elevators.
Staff was helpful, but overall place is depressing.

I liked the location of property,the view of the hills was nice in the morning, and a lot of choices for food and shopping. Didn't like how the box spring cover was dirty and stained, housekeeping next day didn't change it ( have pic). Toilet ran all night, not so much next night.

Not the best experience
I told the person at the front counter when i checked that it was me and one other. I got to my room, and my friend arrived a few minutes latter. The front desk then called and accused me of having 3 people in the room. I explained it was just me and 1 other. Around 10 to 15 minutes later, house keeping knocks on the door offering sheets. Dont know why, it was kinda akward, and there were already sheets. I feel like i was being checked on to verify guest count. And 1 other thing to note. I dont belive the room had been cleaned. I did get the smokers room. I dont smoke but my friend dose, but getting the smokers room is still no excuse for pee being in the toilet and not flushed. Thats why I belive the room was not clean. And on a final note, I was charged 150 on my credit card, as a secuirty deposit. I left the room fewer than 2 hours after checking in because of everything stated. Still waiting for the 150 pending charge to go away.

We understood that it was a college football weekend and area hotel rooms would be sparse and at a premium. As we entered the room, a strong odor of bleach greeted us. Nothing unique. The bed was co.fortable.
No toilet paper in bathroom. Some AC controls did not work. (Could not increase tempersture). Even the envdlope for the key was well worn and dirty.
I would be ashamed to call it a Windom Hotel.

Terrible!
This was by far the dirtiest unkept hotel I have ever stayed in.
The room I was first put in had visible dirt marks coming down the sides of the tub. The lock on the door to the room was broken. The bathroom door did not Cole all the way and the bracket for the shower curtain was coming off the wall.
