Laminate floors in a 5 story hotel!
Building was under construction the whole time we stay thru Christmas. Noisy. One elevator was out of order. They change the floors in the rooms from carpet to laminate flooring. When some above you closes a door or drops something, it sounds like a Bonn went off. I have stayed in this hotel for over 16 years. My family lives near by so it’s been convenient during holidays. We ate dinner in the restaurant one night and the bar tender was also the waiter. Over 3 hours waiting for food and drinks. Still gave him a 20 % tip. Not his fault that the hotel was also under staffed. Sadly, I will never stay here again and if it wasn’t for my family and Christmas, I would have left after the first night.

Moved rooms 3 times due to hvac issues. Housekeeping made the bed once, no trash pick up or coffee left in the room.

Checked in on 10/28 and Summer was not having a good day as she couldn't say Hello or show us a smile. Work up Sunday AM and we both showered and went out sightseeing. When we came back to our room my wife went to shower and immediately let me know all of her hair care/makeup/medications/hairdryer/ and personal toiletries that she had next to the sink in the shower area were gone. We did find her hairdryer in the closet on the shelf next to the hotel hairdryer. My personal toiletries and medications that I had left next to the outer sink (which were in a TSA approved clear plastic bag) were also gone so we went to the front desk and let Tonya know and the best she could say is that there was “Nothing that she could do”.
Monday morning we spoke to the head of housekeeping and all she could tell us was that something like this had never happened before and that none of her staff admitted to removing our belongings; and Tonya even insinuated that we both threw away our personal belongings on purpose. It makes me wonder how nobody touched our things but yet my wife’s hair dryer moved from the sink area to the shelf in the closet next to the hotel’s hairdryer. Maybe a ghost since its Halloween? I did escalate this to the hotel GM Tracey and she stood firm with her staff and that we were just making this up.
Needless to say we will never stay at an IHG property ever again.

Place was dirty. Was move to two different rooms due to poor maintenance. Staff was not friendly. Overpriced and was charged more than my booking total. Would not recommend this location. Oh, they also allowed dogs to stay there. You can tell when you enter the room. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE…

Undergoing renovations which was not disclosed beforehand. Our room was quiet but furnished and decorated reminiscent of a nun’s cell—cold and sterile. No carpet, only faux wood covering easily cleaned with a mop. We were very unimpressed. On the positive side, the shower was excellent.

Dirty and run down!
This hotel is NOT clean. Lobby sofas have dirty covers thrown over them (to cover what?), laundry was piled outside every door down the hallway, the “fitness room” had become a storage area of old mattresses.
This felt like a $59/night motel - yet we paid almost $300/night.
Staff was friendly though.

Property is in terrible condition and extremely outdated. Was going to take pictures but quickly realized that would be redundant. I have seen in responses to other reviews, the owner reply and say they are “going to” remodel. Well, it’s not remodeled now. This would take at least a ten to twenty million dollar makeover to bring it up to par. Furniture and bed were in terrible condition, windows dirty etc. We actually didn’t feel comfortable staying there and forfeited our money and left.

Nice hotel
Management sent a text after we checked in to make sure we were happy and to see if they could do anything to make our stay better. I was impressed with the service. We loved the breakfast package! Made to order food vs the typical buffet style.

Quite possibly the worst hotel experience.
I didn’t get the room I requested, there was mold in the bathroom, there were cobwebs in the room, dust on the ac unit, the water was not clean, I was afraid to drink it, the ice machine was broken so there was literally nothing to drink. The people working the counter when I arrived were incredibly rude and didn’t know what they were doing.

Staff very helpful and accommodating. Hotel is definitely old and seems to be scabbed together in places! Carpets dirty, chairs in room had nasty stains all over them. Toilet paper holder missing, electrical extension cords looked like a fire hazard. Vent in bathroom full of debris.
Pool was nice but closed for an event which was until the evening! I was there for a race and was very disappointed I couldn’t use the pool.

The room wasn't clean. There was a used q tip in the floor and toothpaste on the sink, and it just wasn't up to the normal standards of any Holiday Inn I've stayed in. The clerk who checked me in was friendly and helpful, but that's about the only good thing I can say about the expereience.

Very dated hotel. Needs updating.
Hotel is very dated. There were no workspaces (desk) and certainly no electrical outlets. To use the coffee maker, I had to move it to another area of the room and unplug a lamp to use it. I did not even attempt to charge phones, laptop, etc.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and quiet, even with most rooms booked with NASCAR fans. The only downside I found was there were no snacks or vending machines. Not even coffee or tea. Once the lounge closed (@ 10) there wasn’t a common area for visitors to sit and chat.

Front desk staff on check in was very upbeat and kind. Unfortunately the room was bad - bathroom door rotting on bottom, toilet seat dirty, hair on floor, candy wrapper near bed, mattress was like laying on a pool float, lighting very old and dark.

This hotel is very outdated, the carpets are especially terrible. The breakfasts were the worst. Out of 4 days only once was fresh fruit offered. Wheat or white bread to toast...although the toaster kept blowing a fuse. Prepackaged muffins..limited offerings of cold cereal. The hot buffet was better (for $11) but not by much.
Our bathroom fixtures were clean but the corners and edges in the bathroom floor were not clean at all.
The hotel was quiet and the bed was very comfortable.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was good. Our room had hair on the floor and sink. One of our towels was soaking wet! The shower was also very slippery! Overall great place for a pit stop on our way. Good for one night.

It was fine. But there wasn't a menu for the restaurant and the hours in the elevator said until 10 on Friday night and actually closed at 9?? No visitor guide, etc. Ice machine was broken had to walk to the complete opposite side of the hotel to get ice

Wonderful's Night Stay
My 2 queen bed room was exceptionally clean, I was very happy with the cleanliness. The hotel was quiet and I was able to get a great nights sleep. I loved the Bath and Body Works soaps, shampoos and lotions. The only bad thing was the fridge in my room was frozen up, really needs to be defrosted (Rm. 412), but for only a one night stay, that was no big deal.It's a great place to stay. I did also miss having literature in my room (i.e. tv channel guide, menu for restaurant, etc.) but understand that because of COVID, these items have been removed.

I liked the room rate and employees. Facility needs to be updated. Rented two rooms. One for me and my husband and one for my son and his family. There were bed bugs in my son's bed. We notified front desk and my son and his family were moved to another room. Manager on duty came to the room and confirmed it was bed bugs.

Hotel staff disregarding state law not wearing masks in public areas - even after meeting with management twice and physically taking management to show them these employees in hallways without masks going into rooms, it continued.
Bar area full of people elbow-to-elbow at bar without masks.
Restaurant had approximately 30 elderly people at one long table from an Indianapolis Model A Club without masks, again elbow to elbow - I could not eat there that morning because social distancing at another table was not feasible.
Instead of addressing problems various managers attempted to pay me off by not charging me for my room several times and have me leave.
I related that I did not want money, I only wanted them to protect the public - to no avail. All three issues were reported to the Va Department of Health.

Definitely needs the carpet replaced.. it really dates the hotel and it’s musty.. our room was clean and everyone had masks so that was a plus, also amazing view from our room of sunset and sunrise.. just needs some updating and this place would be perfect!

The bed was very comfy and the linens were nice. The room was very clean except for the carpet. It needed vacuuming as well as a commercial cleaning or even replacement. The carpet in the hallways was REALLY bad. It definitely needed replacement. Overall the place just needs a good updating. However staff was super nice and accommodating. I was only there two nights. I would find somewhere else to stay next time.

Everything was great about the stay until we found out 2 days later we had a extra room charged to our debit card because we were talking to this person in the lobby and supposedly their card declined so they just added to mine!! And to make it worse when I called about getting my money back they refused saying they had to wait until the other party called them back to pay for their room!!! Unbelievable. Will never stay here again!! Its sad to have such crappy customer service when you have such a nice hotel!!

Liked the swmming pool and the fresh linen. Staff as well as housekeeping was great! However, the facilities themselves are bordering on disgusting. I'm not sure whose job it is for general cleaning and I truly COULD NOT believe how disgusting the coffee bar/breakfast bar was. I wouldn't even drink the water. Even the trashcans themselves had so much crust and ooze you couldn't step on the pedal to even open the trashcans. It seems as if maybe front of house/reception have not been given any kind of cleaning schedule or simply don't care. I was really appalled that no one just did what needed to be done. It's shameful how lazy and uncaring employees have become. I guess I'm just old (47) and always took pride in my place of employment. It's really just too bad.
ALSO! there was a convention made up mainly of women and no toilet paper could be found. Ladies were literally sharing a package of Kleenex. Apparently, keys and much hullabaloo is required for tp .

Not using Hotels.com again
I wouldn’t know how the Holiday Inn is. I called Hotels.com to change the dates of my booking - AS THE HOLIDAY INN INSTRUCTED ME TO- and spoke to what seemed like a very nice person who told me you (Hotels.com) would tell Holiday Inn to make the change. You did not bother to do so, so I got charged for the wrong dates and not booked for the right ones. Surprise! I will never use Hotels.com again.

Definitely needs some updates in the room. Tv was broke when we got there and had to have changed out. Curtain rod hanging off wall. Shelf for towels had paint peeling off everywhere. Bathroom walls look touched up and need a good coat of paint. Toilet paper holder coming out of wall. Trim coming off headboard on bed. As far as employees at front desk , restaurant and around the property they were great.

I had an amazing stay. The clerk that checked me on was very considerate, he explained that there were limited services available to give their employees a chance to enjoy the holiday, which I have no issue with, and my room was cleaned jus the same. Thank You Holiday Inn.

First off, They overbooked my room. I had requested a King Bed with a "view". After 45 minutes of obvious confusion from the staff, I recieved a room. The room had two queen beds and was apparently the same price. I brought this to the attention of the Manager and he seemed suprised that i had received the wrong room only to follow up with "there are actually just no clean rooms with a king bed" like i had booked. Overall, I was and am quite upset about the situation since the manager pulled the shades over my eyes and pretended not to know that he gave me a room that wasnt booked. I was highly disapointed by the manner in which your staff handled the situation at hand. I advise that in the future, you inform your staff to handle these types of situations bluntly and to not put on a fake smile to sweep any problems under the rug.
Secondly, the room had dirt in the bathroom, sticky residue on the counters, beds that looked as if they had been slept in, and an absolutely disgusting bathtub that smelled of vomit.
Thirdly, the breakfast that costs an additional $10 was very disapointing. Hard biscuits, cold bacon, stale scrambled eggs, and what is up with that gravy? The only good thing about the meal was the offer of free coffee. The coffee itself was trash; however, the idea that the waitress gave us a pot to drink was pleasing.
I have stayed three years prior, and have no issues, this year was a complete cluster.

Very nicely organized hotel, clean and family friendly, we got two connected room, awesome, everybody has good sleep. Though the bathroom looks a bit outdated but everything works. big plus lots of towels and lots of space for luggages. Breakfast is great, a bit inconvenient to get coupon every morning, but staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, recommend it for family stay for a couple days. My family missed the breakfast after we left:)

Property was decent. I have stayed at nicer hotels for less price though. I feel for the quality of the hotel it was overpriced. The breakfast cost $5.95 unless you had a breakfast coupon. But I have had better free breakfasts than the one that was provided.
