Everything about Rock Reef Resort was as advertised. Very nice and most helpful staff. Our room was large and had everything we needed. Comfy bed, etc. Actually it was nicer than expected…. lovely grounds with places for kids to play and also beautiful cabana area to lounge and view sunset. Very nice heated pool. I would recommend this place highly.

We had cabin 9 facing right onto the beach. Had its own porch and swing chair. Unit was very clean, spacious, with a kitchen. Hotel has kayaks for guests to use, a dock with chairs to watch the sunset. Parking was great. Quiet, friendly staff. Nice restaurant across the street. We enjoyed our stay and would return

The resort was quiet, which made for a relaxing get away. Our room was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. The private area by the water was so peaceful. The water pressure wasn't the greatest, but that didn't bother us.

We stayed in the comfort suite which was like a little cottage. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook. There was a full fridge, stove, microwave and coffee maker. They even stocked coffee for us. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very clean- one of my big things. Everything was very clean. The linens and towels were replaced if needed and garbage picked up daily. A very nice system and the staff was very quick! The area behind the “cottage” had a pool (heated) and beyond that was a beach, docks, areas to lay in the sun, grills, kayaks, and lots of beautiful iguanas on the property to watch every day. I can’t think of anywhere I have been like this with such a nice place to stay in. It was nice outside too! We will be returning soon! And the price was very good as well.

Our cabin (#10) was beautiful!! We loved the property, it was peaceful and had great amenities to sit and enjoy the water and weather. The cabin was so cute and met all our needs! The staff were amazing - shout out to Amber and Kim - I thought I made a mistake with my reservation and they were so great to fix it - and then, I realized I hadn't made a mistake and they fixed it again. I created a lot of extra work for them, and they were so helpful and kind!! The man who checked us in was very friendly and gave us super great ideas on where to eat that were perfect - The Italian Food Company is our new favorite place! Would definitely look to stay here again when traveling back to this area and would tell everyone to stay in the cabins!!

This place is a hidden gem. My only regret is that I didn’t book multiple nights here. This place overly exceeded my expectations. I will honestly come back again, I want to bring all my family back next time. This is the place you see in the movies where a family can bond and be at one with nature. This place has plenty of lounging areas around their private beach. This place provides fun and memories all on one property. The room was magnificent in its own right. The room we got to sleep in was recently updated with all the amenities you would have at home. We could have just stayed in the room and that probably would have been good enough. I am already planning a trip to come back and spend multiple days here with all my family. This was by far the best place I have ever stayed at. I just hope the price doesn’t sky rocket after my review.

No Hot Water
Everything was OK except for one major issue. We stayed in room #2 for 3 nights starting last Friday night. My wife and I tried to take 2 showers both days of our stay. Both times the water was cold. We were told that the water was cold due to the laundry being done at the same time and that our room was on the same water heater as the laundry room. This is unacceptable, hot water is a basic thing and needs to be fixed. Attached is a picture of the water heater we were told was connected to our room. Needs to be upgraded and up sized to accommodate.

This is an older motel, so not fancy, but clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff was very nice and helpful. The pool and grounds are beautiful (lots of plants and trees). Reasonable rates, would definitely stay there again.

We regularly stay at this property ( at least twice a year). It offers what we need for a pleasant and relaxed vacation. A car is needed but the location is good with several places to eat nearby.

Quiet relaxing place to stay
My fiancee and I stayed for a couple days to get away from the hussle and bussle of Miami. It was the perfect location. The room was clean and updated. The staff was friendly and an easy check in.
We will be back next year and stay longer because we enjoyed it so much.

My room was very spacious, like a small apartment, very comfortable with a full kitchen, bedroom and bath.
The toiletries were limited, and there was no hair conditioner.
I was running the half marathon in Islamorada so I asked for an extended check out time and they said no. I was very surprised and disappointed.

It was a solid place to stay for a reasonable price. The property overall is not as modern as the pictures would indicate, it everything was functional and clean. The room was good and had a comfortable bed. The staff I interacted with were all friendly and check-in was a breeze.

The sunsets from the property were beautiful. I loved that it was a smaller property that made me feel at home and not some huge resort. Lots of Iguanas on the property, relaxing atmosphere. Don't forget to check out the unique bonzi garden. The kayaks are free to use and the resort provides all the beach towels you need. I would definitely stay here again. The price was very reasonable as well.
The only negative I would say is, the highway is close to every property on the key and is very loud all hours of the day and night. There isn't much the resort can do about that.

Don’t let the front of this property fool you. It is a hidden gem. The staff was wonderful, and the view, snorkeling, and kayaking were excellent. We stayed in room 7, which had 2 bedrooms, a living room, and kitchen. It was great. It was clean, and the beds were so comfy. We would definitely visit again.

Really loved the "old school" Florida Keys feel of this place and the fact that this property is still locally owned and run. Staff and owner very friendly and helpful. Room was an older one with kitchenette that hasn't been remodeled yet, but I was very impressed with how clean the unit was. I have stayed in many big-name hotels/resorts and paid much more than here and not had near the cleanliness. They are in process of remodeling some of the rooms while we were there and some are already done, and owner told me the room we stayed in was going to be remodeled soon. Loved the beach area and palapa sitting area to watch sunsets and just chill. Enjoyed watching all the fish and small animals on the property from birds to squirrels and iguanas and other lizards.

If looking for something extravagant, this is not it. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Convenient to many different places. Pool and private beach a plus. All rooms are close to the amenities. Small room, but perfect for just needing a place to sleep. Bed was very comfortable. Would totally stay again.

Cute, CLEAN, and cozy
The place was SUPER cute VERY clean! It felt very cozy, homey, and family ran. It reminded me of a cute little summer camp. The pool was nice and clean, kayaks and a paddle boat were readily available for free of charge, even had a fish cleaning station to use near the docks. Relatively close in walking distance to restaurants. The rooms ACTUALLY felt like they were handicapp accessible, even though we were not disabled.

The Rock Reef Resort EXCEEDED our expectations!
We chose The Rock Reef from looking online, but didn't know anybody who actually stayed there. So we were a little concerned that maybe the place might not be as nice as it looked online. But we soon learned that this place is a TREASURE!
The Suite was gorgeous and clean. Beautifully decorated. Very comfortable bed. Excellent water pressure in the shower.
The grounds are amazing. There's an impressive bonsai garden outside, that I learned was taken care of by the owner's late-husband. He loved landscaping and you can see the evidence of that all over the grounds.
Linda, the owner, has honored her late-husband by keeping up with his love for the landscaping and keeping the beautiful trees and flowering plants in great shape.
You can tell that Linda isn't just running a resort as a job. She LOVES this place and really cares about the people who come through.
She spent time with us chatting about everything. Such a sweetheart.
Jerry, the Manager, was such a gentleman. He got to know our likes and gave wonderful advice on sites to see. He also gave us fun insights to the local wildlife.
They even had the sweetest dog hanging out in the office. Sassy, an 8-year-old Airedale Terrier with nothing but love in her. When I'd visit the office, Sassy often came over to give me snuggles.
My wife and I can't rave enough about this place. Beautiful beach and pier too! We'll be back!

The area was nice and quiet until our 3rd day there. It was construction being done on one of the rooms and we woke up to extremely loud noise. A heads up would have been great but no notice was given. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Other than the construction work I would recommend.

Jerry was the sweetest person ever and very considerate, he works at the front desk and will help you with anything. I met Linda the owner and her designated greeter and attention-hog Sassi and they were wonderful too. This place is clean, homely, in a prime location, and there's a beautiful sitting area by the water for when you don't want to go anywhere. Superb!! Will go back

It’s my second time staying at Rock Reef within weeks apart. I found them not too long ago and my stay was so pleasant that I had to go back. Rooms are spacious and very clean, staff is amazing and amenities are fun. Will be going back soon :-)

The property exceeded our expectations. Our unit had a full kitchen, living room and bedroom- all remodeled. Great amenities- free kayak, paddle boat, hammocks and swimming pool. Owner and her dog were super friendly too.

Grounds were nice but room was not. Cracked tile, dirty floors, rusty fridge, broken cupboard and funny smell in room. Also saw cockroaches but that isn’t uncommon in Florida. Only one outlet worked, and there were no outlets near the beds. Beds and pillows were uncomfortably firm. Walls are thin and you can hear US1 road noise and understand what people are saying in the rooms next to yours. Lots of rules, including no fishing despite having lots of areas that would be great for fishing and showing a nice fish cleaning table in their resort photos. We won’t ever come back and I don’t recommend it for families.

I enjoy my time at the resort so much that I currently have another reservation to stay there again. My room was so spacious and clean. The property it self has its own private beach and great pool and they offer free kayaks with your stay. Overall loved this place.

Cell phone do not work on bldg. and that was no good if you need to be on your phone, and I did not feel confortable using their wi-fi, so that was to me inconsistent. Other than that it was fine.

This quaint gem of a unique mini resort brings one back to the simpler, island vibe and feel. A few well appointed rooms, very clean and well maintained, a nice & welcoming office, where a very pleasant young man welcomed us - Tani, very knowledgeable and courteous. Located right off of Hwy 1, at Key Largo, the proximity to restaurants, gas stations, groceries- all within a couple of miles. We feel very lucky and happy to have found this accommodation and definitely recommend this to our friends & followers on social media.
