Many of the areas of the room had not been vacuumed for some time. Tub/shower appeared to have mold. There was no room service. We stayed for 4 nights. Had to track down more towels, garbage overflowing when we left. Front desk person was laying on lobby sofa on her phone. We only ever saw 2 people on staff at any one time. I would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed 4 nights. There is nothing GRAND about this hotel. Outdated. Rundown. Dirty,dusty. No house cleaning. Stayed in the executive suite only had two bath towels. Tv signal flickers in and out. Big obvious stains in furniture and carpet. First room we went to the door didn’t open. At least the clerk told me to come back if the key didn’t work. DUH!! It’s sad that things are not cleaner because I believe we were the only occupants on the 4th floor. I do not see how this hotel makes enough money to stay open. Fitness room has the original equipment since the building was erected.

Enjoyed the stay
We were in town a couple days for a funeral. I stay in a lot of hotels during business travels. The Grand was clean and the staff was excellent. Door locks did need some maintenance as we had two rooms and they both had to be rekeyed several times. The sensor in the lock probably needs serviced

A little disappointing this time
The sink was leaking and the elevators were very slow. The only ice machine that was working was on floor 3 (we stayed on floor 7)

Super Nice Staff!!!
Short trip to visit family. This was the only place with last minute vacancy due to a downtown street festival that weekend. Employees were over the top with their kindness!! They were all very friendly and attentive! I arrived late and they allowed me to park in the front of the hotel instead of the garage. There's no valet parking... no restaurant, no bell hop, etc. Lobby had a VERY strong mold smell, room was clean but very dated and just felt old and run down like a cheap hotel. Needs A LOT of TLC. My door knob was falling off the door and wound barely latch...they still have ac/heating units that's controlled by the unit itself not a wall thermostat.
So sad it's gone down hill.

No, there was only one elevator working at the time and last day or two days, in my hotel room, both the plumbing in the tub and the sink was stopped up, and the water drains extremely slow. Also the toilet flushes extremely slow.

When I went to check in took over ten minutes to find staff. Colleague of my checked in later and had to call the hotel to check in.
There was no hot water for showers. Shower curtain was uneven and couldn’t keep closed my whole floor got soaked.
Staff was not welcoming or helpful.

No one was at the desk for several minutes when I arrived. I looked for an employee and finally had to call the front desk from the front desk to get someone. The hotel is very dated and not well maintained. Numbers missing from elevator buttons and others hand written in. No hot water for two days. Bathtub grip mat was pealing up with obvious mold underneath. Foul odors on each floor. Bar and restaurant appear permanently closed with only old vending machine food options.

This property might have been grand at one point but it's no longer even good. The free parking they mention is a public lot next to the hotel which is decent if nothing is going on at the theatre across the street, but crowded otherwise.
The room I stayed in was not 3 star hotel grade, it was shady motel grade. Carpet was dirty and raised in some places, lighting was dark, mattress was springy, TV was small and HVAC had seen better days.
It's a shame because this place has good bones, but it's in dire need of some capital improvements. With a couple million dollars this hotel could be the crown jewel of the downtown area, but currently it's more like costume jewelry.
I don't know who they used to photograph the pictures you see online but they need to give that person a raise.

Nice and spacious. No modern amenities for mobile devices were in any of the rooms we stayed in. One will need charging blocks. No more restaurant and lounge. Very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping, banquet set up and front desk needs to be commended.

Very uncomfortable bed. The room was over 80 degrees when we walked in. A stink bed was on the bed when we walked in. The vending machine downstairs ripped me off twice.

Staying for a fall wedding.
Staff was friendly. Breakfast buffet was great! However, the room was somewhat disappointing. The carpet looked dirty (hadn't been shampooed in a while). The mattress was not firm enough. Wallpaper beside the bed seemed to be peeling somewhat at the top. Towels were very thin. Bathroom vent fan did not work. No restaurant inside hotel was open.

This should be called the not- so- grand Hotel. I decided to stay here because of downtown location and the advertised bar and restaurant. Upon arrival, I was informed the bar and restaurant have been closed since COVID, but pictures showed a beautiful bar and restaurant when I booked. Note: I noticed that those pictures have been removed since my booking. Beyond this, the comfort and convenience was no better than many roadside motels. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and it was not a queen (again as advertised). The a/c was noisy and very ineffective. It was barely 70 degrees outside and the a/c couldn't even make it to 65. The tub doesn't drain properly, the bathroom vent fan was inoperable. The only positive was the front desk staff was friendly enough at check in. I would not recommend this place for the price.

Convenient and decent
I wasn't sure what to expect based on the other reviews, but this was the most convenient hotel for my travel purposes and the price was right too. Overall the room was in very good shape, and aside from a bunch of stray hairs on the bathroom floor, it was clean.
However, on the morning I was checking out, I had a maintenance man abruptly enter my room without knocking. He claimed he was told there was something wrong with the lock, and quickly left with an apology, but still it was a little jarring. I would recommend using the extra flip lock as a precaution if you stay here. Otherwise, I would recommend staying here if you are attending a concert at the Academy of the Arts, which is directly across the street.

COnvenient to downtown, no housekeeping services, no restaurant or bar, vending machines not working, general state of disrepair evident. Main issue - skeletal staff. Even Hotel 6's have a breakfast. We were checked into wrong room at first. Elevators had buttons with no lights or numbers. Our key cards were cancelled before we checked out ( we added an extra day) Bathrooms had no air circulation, AC barely worked.

Wi-Fi was non existent, any tv channel that wasn’t the local station(only like 4) wouldn’t play or would freeze every 5 -10 seconds. Missing light bulb in one of the lamps when we checked in so we had to take a bulb from other lamp to make it useful. Otherwise service and room was okay.

I just got up to my room (508). I don’t usually put the lock latch on the door because I was going out to dinner in a little bit. 20 minutes after I got up to my room someone opened my door with a key to try and get in. If I didn’t have the lock on they would have been in my room. I didn’t open the door but looked through the hole and told them that the room was occupied. The place wasn’t busy so not sure how they had a key to get into my room. Very shady! Will never stay here again. After I got back from dinner my key didn’t work at all. I had to go down 2X before I could get back in my room.

We enjoyed being in downtown Lynchburg with its culture and scenery. The River Walk is beautiful. Restaurants were plentiful.
The property is a little dated, but they are making improvements. We enjoyed our stay.

Upon entering the foyer looked nice. However, the property is tired and in dire need of renovation. The room was pretty bad. The AC was loud and felt like I had an engine running in the room. The towels in the room had stains. The room was dirty but that is because the place is old and even a cleaning will not really clean it up. The bed was uncomfortable. There were three of us in the room. My wife and I shared a bed and if you moved the mattress literally forced the other person to rock.
For three people the room came with one puny bar of soap. We brought our own. Nobody slept well because of the loud AC and the lousy mattress.
Good thing was the water pressure for the shower. There was a hole in the wall covered over with tape.
The pool was closed and covered. Parking was not an issue.
You could walk to restaurants. The gentleman who checked us in was polite.
There was zero dining in the hotel.
I have stayed at worse hotels in the third world, but to be compared to one is not something to be proud of.
I will not stay at the Lynchburg Grand Hotel again.

Entrance area dingy, musty and uninviting. One staff member around to check you in. Never saw any other staff or housekeeping. Room was musty smelling , old dirty rug flooring. Bathtub took forever to drain and had to hold the handle down on the toilet until everything was gone. Abandoned dining area. No extra amenities.

The room was clean and the staff at the front desk was very friendly. Since Covid, the bar and restaurant are closed. It has been 10 years since I last stayed at this hotel and no updates have been made. Overall the hotel is nice; just a little tired. The parking garage is very convenient.

The mid-80s called, and they'd like their nice hotel back.
The last time this hotel was updated, I was a freshman in college - and I am 55 now. Room was not exactly spotless. Overall quality of human interaction was excellent.

Downtown Lynchburg, parking is in garage but they let us in employee parking because we were in large F450. Walking into the hotel, very Grand looking. It seems as though they are trying to make it new, not sure if its always been a hotel. Does not currently have restaurant but are working to open one apparently. Our first room was not clean, staff was very accommodating to give us a new room and also offered discount for the inconvenience ( i haven’t seen any refund yet but we shall see). Staff was really very nice and helpful. Our 2nd room was “clean” top blanket had stains (which i took off) the rest were decent. Bathroom had old cast iron tub that had shady repair on drain, broken tiles. Overall the room was ok, not great but ok. Probably wouldn't stay here again but I am extremely picky and its shocking that I even stayed the night. We were only really here from 12am until 9:30am.

Poor quality for the GRAND Hotel
The Lynchburg Grand Hotel needs to be updated severely.
Difficulty in opening the room door. Front desk had to come upstairs and show us how to operate the handle.
Could not operate the shower. Complained to the front desk and they said maintenance would have to turn the shower on for us.
Amenities are poor. No coffee in the lobby.
The only good thing I can say is the bed was comfortable.

The facility needs a major makeover. Everything from the dripping faucets, lumpy beds, worn out carpets, small, thin towels, outdated, stained furnishings, to the rattling air conditioning, weathered floors, doors to the closed restaurant shouted “help me”.

It was less than ideal but served its purpose for the few hours we stayed overnight. Cleanliness is very surface level. The tub didn't drain well and was stained. A bug fell from the ceiling onto the carpet and then refused to die. Overall, not worth the money I paid for the night.

Lynchburg Grand Hotel
Located in historical Lynchburg with everyone right on hand, hotel staff were seriously the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. Hotel was clean but the beds were a little outdated being spring mattresses. Would recommend though before booking to see what events are local as we had issues with Jocks from a college cause us to be evacuated at 5.50 am in the rain but they were not local to Lynchburg. Without the weekend events of a sports team and a prom it is a very peaceful place to stay.

Comfortable beds, clean rooms. As has been mentioned by others the hotel could use aa refurbish. Only one elevator working, so sometimes crowded or one has to wait a little. On the positive side, the one elevator is fast. Ice machines on some floors don't work, but well signed up where ice can be gotten. The restaurant in the hotel seems to have been closed for sometime, perhaps because of Covid. However, a good option for downtown Lynchburg at a reasonable price.

Keys don’t work. EVER
They just got a new key system, which meant that none of the keys actually worked. The card keys.
Everytime I went to use it; it wouldn’t even read. I had to walk to the elevator everytime and call the front desk to have them come let me in my room. They are very nice and always brought me back a new key, but that key still wouldn’t work.
Also, the showers don’t drain. Literally like at all, standing in a tub full of water trying to take a bath. It was driving me crazy. I’m sure my feet never got clean.
Staff is nice, but they do not have breakfast and no daily housekeeping. So reusing the towels really sucked. But it is what it is. Lobby is beautiful. Hotel is nice, but those small things really bring the rating down a lot for me.

Not great. Quite odd.
This visit was quite odd. First our key number didn’t match the room number. Then the whole hotel smells of weed. Then they gave us the wrong room (two twins instead of the king I booked). Once we opened the room the refrigerator was open filled with towels in a dark room which was odd. Heard loud banging all night. Overall weird gut feeling that mad us feel off.

Comfortable stay
We found the staff pleasant and friendly. Our card key didn’t work a couple of times due to changing of the system per the front desk clerk. There was no hair dryer in the room. It looked as if one used to be present, but the base had broken off and wasn’t repaired. Overall, our visit was pleasant, bed was comfortable and we would stay again.
