The stay at the Lancaster was wonderful. Room was comfy and beautiful, and all of the details were appreciated, from good coffee in the room, to robes, and complimentary items everywhere. Food in hotel restaurant was good, breakfast was also good, though the same both days i was there. Neighborhood decent, was there for business so did not explore much. Would definitely stay again

Nice hotel and location. But 55 dollars a night for valet is a bit outrageous. The car only goes in a gate outside in the middle of the hotel. I didn’t think it was a high end valet.

Comfort and Elegance in downtown Houston!
The hotel management team is top notch! We were able to check in early after a long day and night of traveling. The hotel has a home away from home feel. The location is excellent. The hotel restaurant is cozy, and elegant with great menu options for my family. We did not want to be in a large convention center hotel so the Lancaster suited our travel interests.

Downtown getaway

We had a great stay for NYE at the Lancaster. This is an old historic hotel and is in fantastic shape. The only negative is the size of the rooms and bathrooms. Petite King is a very accurate description. Staff was fantastic especially the bartender. Best cappuccino I've had in a long time.

Was here for NYE 2024. The place was clean, beautiful, and bonus for complimentary breakfast and minibar items. However, maybe they’re busier than usual, the services were slow. The breakfast stations weren’t being refilled, no one cleaned the tables, and there was one front desk staff gave me wrong information about the bar closing time. They only have 2 small elevators for both staffs and guests, and TV didn’t work properly. The place is beautiful, yes, but not worth the price per night.

We always have a great time at the Lancaster.
The breakfast is pretty disappointing though and has been the last couple of times that we have stayed here, they need more options maybe a nice egg white omelette and fresh bread products because the bread is always so dry.

The Lancaster is our favorite hotel in Houston and has been for decades! The hotel ambiance, service, amenities, and breakfast are always excellent. The art displayed in all areas of the hotel and rooms is a fabulous addition to the establishment. We feel pampered staying at The Lancaster and always look forward to returning!

New favorite hotel
This was my first stay at The Lancaster Hotel and I don’t think I’ll ever stay anywhere else while in Houston. I loved it. The staff, the room, the property exceeded my expectations. I’m a light sleeper and worried about the street noise, but even staying on 2nd floor facing a busy street downtown, I could barely hear anything though the soundproof windows! Can’t wait to stay again!

Awesome experience. Wonderful staff, great bar drinks, tasty food, hospitality. What makes this even better is the small added touches like champagne on arrival, snacks in the room, an art tour, and the little espresso machine. Here, it’s truly “the little things” that make it. I can’t say enough about the helpful, friendly staff.

Our first stay at The Lancaster was June 2023 and were we pleasantly surprised! All the staff was exceedingly courteous which is something we don't see as often these days. The food at the restaurant was superb and the breakfast was etrer than I expected. The room was cozy and all the snacks were complimentary. Our stay was simply devine. For that reason im staying there again this Thanksgiving weekend but now with more family. The staff themselves are reason enough to return. Highly recommend!

Parking is expensive but park in the parking garage a few blocks 2-3 minutes to the hotel for cheaper

There are sooo many positives about staying at the Lancaster, for example, we walked to our Opera, plenty of restaurant choices. The hotel makes every effort to makes guests’ stays an outstanding experience. We definitely go there again!

Had a wonderful stay. Everyone was very friendly and having a restaurant in the hotel was very convenient, food was delicious. The only complaint I have, is that the beds were so hard, was sore and didn’t rest the entire stay there.

Why the Lancaster is rated best in Houston
Excellent service from check-in, to a welcome note and complimentary snacks, to a generous buffet breakfast, to gracious check-out service. Bulgari toiletries are a lovely touch. Absoultely the place to stay if attending the opera or other events at the performing arts venues.

Single ply toilet paper…. Penury in every corner…. The family that owns the property might consider alternatives in Leadership…. MLB playoffs, Guests formerly received goodie bags stuffed generously…. Now? Nothing …. Guests might receive an ample amount of fruit…. Now? A single orange …. Look, it’s Texas…. Go big or go home…. My friend and I visited Houston for her 50th birthday! We checked in to the Lancaster Hotel on a Thursday and left on a Monday. From curbside assistance with our bags to the check in process; every aspect of our stay was AMAZING! The staff’s attention to detail is second to none! Danny at the front desk provided a complimentary glass of champagne upon checking in and provided wonderful recommendations to the restaurant in the hotel. Sonny brought our bags to our room and explained the layout of the room. Mark the host snapped pictures of my friend and I before leaving for an event. We chatted with Mark before our Uber arrived as if we were old friends. The complimentary breakfast was SUPERB! It wasn’t standard pastries and coffee, but instead was a spread of bacon, honey sausage, toast, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, smoked salmon, capers, and soooo much more. The hotel is beautiful and luxurious, but the staff’s kindness makes the stay feel like home away from home. I will definitely stay at the Lancaster Hotel again in Houston! The service provided just can’t be beat!

The Lancaster Hotel in Houston was definitely a step above. Their amenities were many, including a free lovely breakfast. Their mini bar snacks, drinks, and water bottles were free. They offer a multitude of channels for those who care to watch the in-room television Their bar area downstairs was very welcoming, although we did not have an opportunity to use it. We felt appreciated as customers in this hotel! It made our visit to Houston,Texas quite pleasant.

Impressive Houston Hotel Steeped in History
We had a fantastic stay at the Lancaster Hotel. The staff helpful and accomodating, room was well appointed and clean, and the hotel steeped with art and history. Impressive. The complimentary breakfast was first rate. Quality amazing. Dinner at the hotel equally fantastic. My wife had shrimp cocktail and I had the short rib, both dinner stapels and of high quality. This hotel leans expensive, but well worth the money and highly suggest for the business professional needing some luxury.

Management at restaurant can greatly improve. Manager, old gentleman there, was rude making me leave the table I was about to sit on so he could assign me a table (empty tables all around) where he was okay with me sitting on.

The hotel staff discriminated against my aunt and uncle who are not native English speakers. Gave them extreme difficulty when checking in and making reservations at the hotels restaurant. The AC in their room was not working in 100 degree weather and the hotel staff did nothing to relocate them or fix the AC. Out of a 4 day stay which I had completely paid for already, my aunt and uncle only stayed 1 night because of how poorly they were treated. Avoid the Lancaster at all costs. The treatment my aunt and uncle received was absolutely disgusting.

Lovely independent boutique hotel with character - right across from the Alley Theatre. Very nice breakfast buffet, comfortable bed and nice linens as well as good service including turn down. Could improve toiletry offerings, TV channel offerings and little things like that to come up to a higher level - but overall a very nice hotel.

Lancaster looks good online, but employees are snotty/do not listen.
Was pleased to be able to check in early. I got to room and found a cell phone on the nightstand so had to return to the lobby so I could give it to front desk. That a large phone in a bright blue case was left in the room was first clue that attention to detail was lacking with the staff.
Back upstairs… within my first hour settling in I was interrupted by housekeeping 3 times, telling them all I had just checked in and did not need anything. Much later I realized that there were no snacks and only 2 gross beverages/no water in the minibar, so when the afternoon interruption arrived I requested some water. The young woman looked at me blankly and shoved chocolate into my hand, and I never got any water. I later called down to the front desk and explained the situation. Alex said “YOU ALREADY FINISHED ALL OF YOUR SNACKS?!?” as though he was speaking to a naughty 5 year old. Um, no, as I said, there were NO snacks, ALEX — use your ears, and send up some water. Customer service is about listening. I don’t care about snacks. Reception made a big deal at check in that they are complimentary but they were actually nonexistent and then Alex acted like I was scamming him. Eye roll.
Brunch was pricey and middling and the bartender initially ignored me and then barely tolerated me.
2 hours before checkout housekeeping banged on my door (despite do not disturb) asking if I was checking out.

Great two night stay!!! Went for a concert. Staff was wonderful very helpful hotel was clean very comfortable.!!! In the heart of the theater district!!! They have a nice restaurant for dinner. Just need to make reservations and they had a wonderful free complementary breakfast in the mornings. Nice bar too!!! There was also a nice Italian restaurant across the street that stayed open really late and we had a really nice dinner after the concert that we really enjoyed!!! They had complementary snacks in the room at night to munch on. That was a nice little plus!! Valet parking was very quick and very pleasant and front desk staff were very helpful.. I would definitely stay there again!

Great experience. I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Houston Lexington Hotel. My stay exceeded all of my expectations. The accommodations were luxurious and spacious, and the facilities were impeccably clean. But what made my stay so enjoyable was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way to ensure that I had everything I needed. And let's not forget about the breakfast - it was delicious and offered a great start to my day. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. It was truly a joy to experience such top-notch hospitality.

We were able to park and check our bags before check in. Our outlets in room did not work. When I called chest services, I was told to go buy a new charger/block at a cvs. No offer to have someone take a look. I said is that all you can do for me and he replied "yes". I went to front desk and a different man sent someone up and said it was our cord. Cords were working fine in the car. Only plug that worked was clock to charge 3 devices. Next morning, when getting breakfast, a woman asked if I needed silverware. I said yes and ready to take one's rolled on table. She said "I need my silverware don't take those" and gave me plastic silverware.
