Easy to park and check in however with check in staff were unsure about pet fees and never really checked us into the hotel until we were back from the event that brought us to the area, a second staff member stopped us and readdressed the fact that we had pets and if we were aware that additional fees would apply and asked for a credit card to be put on file. Overall, a messy check in process.

Weird dynamics with house keeping. House keeping did not clean after our first night. Early evening when we asked the front desk, they (completely unfazed) indicated that house keeping was winding down and that should have gotten done earlier(it did not). On our third day, they did a lackluster job with one of the beds and did not make our other queen bed.

We enjoyed the hotel and breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. We were hesitant at first about it being pet friendly, but just booked a higher level floor. No trace of pets there.

Comfortable and clean rooms. The third floor smelled similar to a nursing home when I got off elevators. Not sure what that was about. Had trainees checking in which proved slow and unsure of which keys to push on their computer.

Definitely stay again
We were here to see the Reba concert, as was 1/2 of VA., NC & WV. It seemed liked everyone arrived at check in and the line was extremely long. The clerks who assisted us were calm and efficient, management passed out free water and all the rooms were ready for us.
The rooms were clean, and beds comfortable after a long night of singing. I’d definitely stay here again.

Great hotel with great rooms
The stay was a night getaway for my wife and I. I had purchased show tickets, where the show was at John Paul Jones Arena. I am a member of IHG and also hotels.com and the Holiday Inn was great. Room was spacious as well as the bathroom. My wife really like the shower there.

Friendy and helpful staff. The bartender was a hoot and made our evening enjoyable, even though they didn't have much food to order that evening. Breakfast was good, I liked a to order breakfast rather than a buffet. We were in the middle of a hurricane though, which is why we stayed in.

Might need better management
It was not the best once checked into our room we quickly realized that it had not been cleaned, both trash cans were full there was a wet rag in the shower from the previous tenet and one of the beds was not made. I didnt mind i figured theyre understaffed and just running a little behind so i told the front desk expecting that when i got back around midnight i would find a clean and ready room but to my surprise nothing got done.

Property is close to UVA which is a plus. Our shower door would not open or close without two of us forcefully moving it-should have been caught by housekeeping prior to us checking in. The handle completely dislodged. We reported it to front desk but door was not fixed. We found ants on our 2nd evening. Menu in restaurant/bar is limited and several items were not available. Food was good however. For $300 per night, very disappointed

Hotel didn’t even had reservations in their system when it was booked through Orbitz. Had to be on call with Orbitz at 10:30pm in the night to somehow resolve and get room

Check-In was a very slow process. Room was good. Bathroom tub/shower was not clean. Looked liked there was mildew in the bottom of the tub. No hot water for 2 of the days that I was there. No one ever came by and cleaned the room or brought new towels.

Pleasant hotel but not near the university
This Holiday Inn is is a pleasant middle-priced hotel. It is convenient if you are driving to places in the Charlottesville area; but it is NOT the place to stay if you want to keep your car at the hotel and walk into, and around, the university area. The intersection it's at is too dangerous and too far from the college. Also, the hotel does not offer a breakfast on Mondays or Tuesdays; and you'll need to go elsewhere for it.

Good points: free airport shuttle that you need to book in advance, nice gym, clean property, nice room, so good for a 1-2 night stay. Trader Joes only 1 block away so the microwave could be used for heating food. Has recently been refurbished. However, the bar was only open 1 night of the 5 we stayed due to lack of staff, the air-conditioning was very fierce so eventually we got it shut off, the pool was closed for maintenance. Its a 10 min drive outside of downtown Charlottesville so we used Uber/lift a lot (no problems getting one). No room cleaning during the stay and no room service (I think this might be a COVID-related problem). Breakfast is an extra.

The hotel is a bit outdated. The beds are extremely uncomfortable.
The doors where difficult to open because the card key system is outdated. We were moved to another room after we had settled in because the heating unit was broken. It would have been nice to have an acknowledgement from the front desk about the inconvenience but it was treated like a normal occurrence. Beds were uncomfortable in both rooms.

Lobby was nice; the room was spacious; they did clean the room and bathroom after we asked on the third day.
However we were staying 6 nights there was only one set of towels for each of us. Also the bathtub had a stationary tub mat and there was black mold around it. Not a nice thing to see.
After a couple of days we asked for another set of towels. We told them we would be back late evening and they instructed us to place the original set of towels on the floor outside our door and they would leave the fresh towels; but when we returned around 9:30 PM there were no towels. We had to call and then pick up the fresh towels.

We were visiting UVa for homecoming. Hotel was fine, but I’m getting tired of no housekeeping because of Covid. Also, the breakfast was not impressive so we passed on that even though it was included. Would stay again because of the location.

Hotel was convenient for travel into the center of Charlottesville and UVA…the staff was friendly and helpful, which went a long way in smoothing over any trouble we encountered (on one morning of our 3 night stay we were informed that the breakfast buffet had closed 45 minutes before anticipated due to an off-site catered event they had to attend to…none of the guests were informed of this until they came to the restaurant, only to be turned away)

Great place to stay
The hotel was in close proximity to UVA and a variety of eateries in the area. The staff was great and helpful. The room was really clean and sanitized. The hotel had a lot to offer if you dont eant to go out, but close to all of everything in the city.

Leak in hotel bathroom which cause carpet in bedroom area to be wet. Also, too many bugs in room. Not worth the $507.00 I spent for 2 nights. Only good experiences were Betty, was chef in hotel restaurant and Mike the bartender.

Key lock did not work. Tried 3 different keys - meaning going back down to desk 3 times. Finally they sent maintenance who figured out lock needed new batteries.
Also, youth soccer tams were there playing pranks on our floor.

This property is in need of a major facelift. Lots of very worn places: elevator floor, elevator floor arrows on the elevator door frame, toilet flusher chipper up, bathtub chipped. Although desk staff said that we could get towels and toiletries 24/7 bc there was no daily room cleaning service, when I asked for toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion), I was told there was none.

It was filthy. Sheets looked slept in as they were only wrinkled where someone would lay. Bathtub had no shower curtain and hair in tub. Dead bugs under sink. TV Remote covered with some sort of black residue. Staff was very friendly but ended up leaving.

I love the location in the city center within a mile of all the shopping and food there is to offer. Rooms were large and clean. The breakfast was lack luster moat places do include something hot even during covid. Overall a great place to stay!

I drove 7 hours to an event only to be called at 6:00 pm that the hotel was overbooked by Expedia. I had to scramble for a room and paid twice what I would’ve paid with this deal. I am furious over this debacle.

The manager who checked us in was very nice, but that's about it for the positives.
The bed was so old and cheap it was actually visibly caved in in the middle. The elevators were gross and smelled like weed. The pool is closed for "maintenance" but they don't tell you those things when you're booking the room.
All in all, there are 47 other better places to stay in C'Ville for the similar price point.
Oh, and the woman when we were leaving to check out was just terribly rude. Won't be back.

Decent stay
The room was comfy but in need of some updates. Bathroom cramped; bed great, fridge & freezer cold (yay!), breakfast was grab & go, service was good. Would stay again. Although, I worry that the room I was in had previously been a smoking room. Shen I showered, of course there is no exhaust fan, so there was a LOT of condensation in the ceiling and it was yellow - like nicotine under the pint.

Very happy with our stay. Rates were commisurate with the facility. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Heat and air confortable. Front desk staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient. Location was good. Only things that would make perfect would be breakfast and pool availability. Will definitely stay again when visiting family in the area.

I was in rm 204 ( I think ) on the 1st floor and my phone didn’t work. I went to the desk and Stephanie was very kind and went to rm 404 and checked the phone, and it worked so I used that room . One thing that you should look into is the condition of the interior elevators. The floors were cracked and the groove between the doors was dirty. A simple vacuum a couple times a day would help. And maybe fix the cracked floor. Overall I was pleased with my stay and would use this hotel again.

1) it was very close to UVA, 2) checkout was at 12noon, 3) they gave me a breakfast bag when I checked in a little after 12 midnight! 4) the bed was very comfortable. Overall this beats the Hilton where I was staying on multiple occasions in the past. Will pass by again in the future... frequently.

Clean room with modern decor. Keurig coffeemaker, refrigerator, microwave, and TV in room were nice amenities. Due to COVID-19, dining was closed, but was given a grab-and-go breakfast to microwave in my room (breakfast biscuit, fruit cup, cereal bar). Coffee available in lobby. Less than 10 minute drive to UVA, downtown Charlottesville shopping, and down the street from Barracks Rd Shopping Center and restaurants. Friendly front desk staff.

Customer service was great. They were very responsive to our requests and helped solved our issues nicely and efficiently.
The hotel does need to invest a little into some repairs and maintenance. The elevators need to have an upgrade. They are starting to look like service elevators with broken and cracked tile and beat up walls.

Hotel presents itself very well. My room was what was expected from a Holiday Inn.
What was not expected was the cockroach roaming my room. Not a small one either !
I have never experienced this in any hotel I have stayed at ! On being informed of the incident - which I have photographs - the mgt offered a $20 refund !!

Staff was awful
The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The staff was awful. Took us 40 minutes to check in! When it was our turn they didn't have our rooms. I had requested adjoining rooms and they didn't have them. While waiting to be checked in I over heard them saying that none of the rooms from the day before had been checked out. Our reservation was on a piece of notebook paper. I asked for a manger and they said they were both managers, just not at the desk and they were the only ones there. I asked for them to compensate me for the mistake and I was completely ignored! I asked if we pd now or at check out and she said at check out. We stayed with a another couple and we were each going to pay for our own rooms. When I went to check out they had already charged my card for both rooms! Very frustrating stay and will not stay again. We were not told about any covid related rules or how to access amenities. Very unfriendly and rude staff.

In general I like the Holiday Inn products, this was an exception. Very poor service upon arrival, check in took 45 minutes as the two ladies behind the desk clearly did not understand their reservation system. Not a good time for this, as people were queueing up in the lobby making social distancing difficult. Then, there was a loud party off the back of the Hotel during the evening. I made the new person behind the desk aware, and she shrugged her shoulders and said there wasn't anything she could do. I'll find other accommodations when in Charlottesville moving forward.
